This was a very beautiful place rich with history! My whole family enjoyed!! The people who worked ther were absolutely amazing!
My wife and I went to the museum early in the year and found it very enjoyable. My wife enjoyed the Japanese exhibit the best but I preferred the mid 19th century paintings. I found the tea set exhibit and the Native American art to be fascinating as well. We plan to return after the pandemic.
What a treasure for Laurel to so graciously share! Kelly & her assistant were the epitome of southern hospitality & a wealth of knowledge....a must see gem not to be missed!
We loved this museum! The employees were very helpful and kind. Lots of beautiful pieces & it was free to get in. One huge pro to the museum was that the gift shop! It had a variety of neat items and things were much more affordable here. We bought some “Laurel” items here at a much cheaper price than other places in town. Would recommend and would go again!
Architecture of the museum is beautiful - take a peek further inside. The woven basket display is well worth the visit. We really enjoyed the metal display as well and the diversity of the artists work. Dont forget to get your map of the historic houses so you can walk around the town.
Beautiful paintings and a very impressive American Indian basket collection. Very small gift shop. Parking lot in back or on side street.
I go here several times a year, and i really enjoy seeing and reading about all of the art and the history of it. I especially like to see the temporary exhibits that are shown on the lower level.... love this place.
Beautiful museum, a little gem in a small town.
Small museum in Historic Downtown Laurel but very interesting and a great place for portraits!
A good place to see some of the local history.
Beautiful artwork and museum. The Museum gentleman at the front desk was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. It was clear he knew his history and enjoyed representing such creative works.
This is a fantastic little gem hidden in South Mississippi. They provide many opportunities for the entire community to come learn about art and even make their own art. A few of my children are homeschooled so we take advantage of their wonderful monthly craft day for homeschoolers. My older children also get to go on field trips to the museum eith their school... The museum is very generous with their time and resources. My children and I always look forward to the time we get to spend here. They have a wonderful gift shop with many local artists works. They also bring in some wonderful pieces to display. Right now the Leonardo da Vinci: Machines is being exhibited. Honestly, for such a small town this museum is phenomenal.
Not many people and no special exhibits when we visited, but what was there was nice. Wish more people would visit places like this.
This is the largest art museum in Mississippi and has the second smallest basket in the world. My grandson couldnt believe it was FREE. Ive been going there for 60 years and it just keeps on getting better. They have special exhibits from time to time that are well worth seeing. Its well worth the trip and Laurel has become a great place to shop and eat. The old downtown is being transformed one old building at a time. Im really proud of My Hometown!
This museum is absolutely filled with history ! George Bassi is a phenomenal director who gave us a tour and explained the history of the museum (which originally was a library!) and even the history of some of the surrounding homes ! My daughter loves this museum and our favorite thing about it is that its FREE !
Very interesting museum and the staff are very knowledgable and helpful.
Great museum wonderful art and great history. Shining star in Laurel.
The da vinci exhibit was amazing
Had a great time, a very nice small museum.
Have lived close by all my life and never visited until now. It is spacious with a great deal of art.
Lovely little museum with a fine history all its own.
Clean, a lot of things ti see in art
It is a remarkably high quality museum and has presented some very ambitious exhibitions....the Warhol and the Chihuly ones in particular
I found the lady behind the desk very helpful and she was enjoyable to speak with.
Good place for a date. Always have great exhibits and good people working their. Gets national recognition.
This is a quality museum! I was very intetested in the basket display, expecially the pine needle baskets. It is unusual to find a museum where you can sit and read books about the painters, craftsmans, and artist in the museum. The Leontyne Price section was extremely informative and enjoyable!
Not enough lighting for those like myself with vision problems.
A great art museum. Not what you would expect in a small MS town. Staff is very friendly, and the price is right (no admission!). Great day trip.
Nice museum with incredibly friendly staff. The museum is free admission, but there is a box politely requesting a “suggested donation” of $3, which is well worth it.
Great to soak in art and culture in my hometown. The Leontyne Price was esquisite to say the least...
Great museum for a small town! What a GEM. And to land the Da Vinci exhibit. It was excellent. The people were very nice and knowledgeable also.
Quality art museum and reference library. Nuseum built in the early days of Laurwl. Several of the old master artist works on display. Current showing artifacts of Leotin Peice, opera star and Laurel native.
Worth the visit! Amazing collection of Native American basketry and Japanese block prints. Large reading library.
Need a light wrap....just a bit chilly. We went in late June!
Do not miss this wonderful museum with a lot to offer. Great historical site.
Great surprise in a small town. The de Vinci exhibit was top notch
LRMA is an icon of Laurel. A world class museum in south MS. A cant miss if youre visiting Laurel.
Went to see the Leonardo da Vinci exhibit. I am still blown away. The collection of Mississippi and Laurel were facinating.
Nice art exhibit and large basket display. Building history is very interesting and people at the front desk were helpful and friendly.
A hidden gem, with a wonderful art collection.
This is my favorite museum of all !
Big city quality museum with small town hospitality!
Today was my first time visiting and I was very impressed. Its small, but the pieces there are wonderful. I particularly enjoyed the Japanese woodblock prints. There was a new exhibit featuring a black and white photographer which was really good. The Chihuly glass is great too. Dont skip the library either. It has a very cool feel to it. Oh, and the baskets, dont skip the baskets. Its really a great museum.
Beautiful place to take pictures
Ok, except for the rude lady who doesnt know how to talk to children. If you are going to have a toy section in your gift shop you should expect children to pick up and play with things. The museum encourages children to come in, so she should know how to talk to them
This was my first trip to an art museum and it left a very good impression, I was there as a class assignment and enjoyed my experience at the same time. David at the front was very enthusiastic, polite and helpful, I definitely recommend stopping by.
The Art Festival was awesome!
Its a good museum and i love the downstairs yall have its so cool
Nice selection of art
Amazing place with an awesome collection of native american baskets.
Great place. Everyone was nice and the art was awesome.
An outstanding museum - one of Mississippis hidden treasures - with extraordinary collections housed in an architecturally interesting edifice. Its a teaching museum - so go there to learn about AND enjoy the artwork on display!
Awesome history!

Blues Bash is a great event to go to for anyone, young or old .

Good Native American basket collection. Interesting small museum. Free admission
Its a great place to visit and see new things
Good History of the Town.
Just the right size to be enthralled but not bored
I had a educational experience, I learn something about laurel, that it was a big producer of pine wood.
A hidden gem. I have lived here all my life and never realized how nice it was.
Quiet, peaceful place to enjoy a variety of works of art. Pleasant experience.
A hidden treasure in the town of Laurel, MS!There is an expansive permanent collection, as well as quality rotating exhibits. Make sure to check out the worlds smallest basket. I think it was woven out of splinters!
Its okay...was on a field trip with my 9 year old daughter and she said she would have more fun watching paint dry lol.
Nice variety of exhibits....we liked the miniatures the best. Helpful, enthusiastic personnel
Beautiful pieces. I could spend hours and days in there.
A museum that deserves more buzz & recognition than it recieves. It has permanent collections of Native American baskets & the 2nd worlds smallest.European & American art,English Georgian silver,& Japanese woodblock art.I have to mention a cool Andy Worhal is a must see piece! There are of course new exhibits showcased through out the year.COME SEE THIS HIDDEN TREASURE IN LAUREL!

This regional museum is first class, beautiful building and art. I have no idea what the other reviewer meant by too many cellphones.?
A fabulous experience and what a special town. Laurel, Ms
Interesting art
The displays were interesting.
Interest things that were fun to my nieces&newphews
Go look at the ancient Chinese artworks! They are beautiful, and theyre so old that when no one is in that room, the lights turn off so that the pieces arent ruined!
