Very nice place to visit if youre a fan of railroad history. Ive visited here and love the model trains and antique railroad items found here. I would recommend visiting with family. Small children would like it here.
I came today ( 10/17/19) first time for story time. The museum is wonderful, my son loves all the trains displays, the persons who work here do a wonderful job. Story time was fun and crafty. They have a little section for the kids to play with trains and my son love that. Overall a great experiencia. We coming back for sure!!Best of all it is free, they do have a box for donations!!
Fun small museum just a 10 minute walk from the museum district. Museum is an old station next to active tracks so you will see working trains.
This place was awesome. Free for everyone and the staff was absolutely amazing. They kept the place clean and was very friendly
Very small museum with great displays. Staff is very knowledgeable about the railroad operations and history
A good self guided museum takes about 20-30 minutes. The best part is the first room to your right.
Excellent little museum for the little ones to enjoy; completely free and they have model trains and wooden trains in the back for the kids to play with. $5 donation is appreciated but not obligated.
A great little museum! Lots of old railroad stuff to see and read about, and some great model trains set up and toys for the little kids! Just wish they had enough to do the boxcar restoration!
Really cute and interesting place to visit in LC. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the exhibits are good for introducing kids to trains and their importance to the region. Only thing to keep in mind is that its somewhat small, so dont expect to keep kids entertained for longer than maybe an hour here.
What an absolutely delightful little museum! The miniature train dioramas are wonderful to watch; so incredibly detailed!
The museum is at the old railroad station from back in the day. They have some display models of the trains from the past along with pictures. The lady there is very nice. A good place to visit if you like trains
Neat little museum. The docent was very knowledgeable and full of information.
TRAINS!They could do more with it, and should sell patches and pins. The elder lady attending the museum was one of the most wonderful people I have met in awhile.
Went for a xmas special event, loved this place.
It is a good place to take your children to learn about locomotives. They have interactive displays of model trains in their perspective model towns. We had a blast with our son. They also have story time. Call them for information. It is a hidden gem in Las Cruces.
Very cool place with considerable historical significance.
Super fun pace for train lovers of all ages! Wish it was bigger!
Ive been going here since I could walk and I still love it.

Modest museum building worth the effort to visit. Beautiful building esp especially.
Friendly Staff, neat place with interesting pics, artifacts, and trains.
Quaint little museum which throws you back into the simpler time of train travel. Its inside an old converted station, too, and right next to some active freight tracks. There are model trains, mock ups, lots of information, and activities for kids. Well done, Las Cruces.
A fun little museum to take the kids to. Keeps them entertained for about 30 min and then time to move on. Can’t beat free!
That was awesome visit...We enjoyed watching miniature cities with people, trains, homes, stores, animals, etc.Great people...Great museum!
Great place to take kids for a relatively short visit.
It is clean and cozy.
Using the old Las Cruces depot, the story of the AT&SF railroad is told. Most interesting!
My 4 year old son loves this place! They have toy wooden trains and 3 electric model train scenes. Theres also an old typewriter and Telegraph machine to play with.
Wonderful opportunity for the children to play with and watch the trains. Great story hour once a month with a project for the children after the story.
Pretty cool place to check out, you can learn al it about the railroad industry. The staff were very knowledgeable and they have interactive activities for children to play with through the museum.

A fun place to take the family to. Learn about trains, one of the first life veins of America.
Excellent we enjoy the event.
Very captivating for me and my 3 y/o grandson. The minature train sets with so much detail is amazing.
This is a great visit for folks of all ages. Staff and volunteers can be very engaging and fun to talk to.
Located in an historic Santa Fe Railroad depot, the Las Cruces Railroad Museum interprets the railroad history of Las Cruces and the impact of the railroad on Southern New Mexico. Among the Smithsonian-Affiliated Museums in Las Cruces New Mexico, this is my least favorite for the fact that is quite small and not so much to see.
Took my 2year old Godchild. She really enjoyed playing there.
Model railroads and memorabilia from the past station.
Go give them support. Good people and neat little Museum.
