One of remaining full screen theaters anywhere located in the quaint neighborhood of downtown Larkspur. Supported by donors this house shows both recent releases and suggestions from attendees. The environment is comfortable, welcoming and the snack bar lacks none of the goodies one would expect including wine or beer for adults. It is always a lot of fun to see films at the Lark. I highly recommend it!
The best theatre I have ever been to. And I have lived a long time and all over the world. The exceptional programming of live events from opera to rock and roll in the magnificent intimate restored space is truly extraordinary.
Not the best theater in Marin to see a movie, but they do get some great movies, and their play times during the week are a wonderful invention I wish more theaters did.
Nice old-school theater, with slight stadium-style cascading and nicer-than-the-originals padded seats—Ive dealt with my share of rock-hard vintage theater seats, and these were hardly that. Great screen as well. Their popcorn is great too, and they organic oil for it.
Sunday morning movie, glass of wine and free popcorn. Almost no one there; the staff love to see us. Great alternative and feature films.
Clean. Great Popcorn. Clean bathrooms. Love how you can reserve your seats. Korean movies have subtitles and so do English movies. Employees here are respectful and kind.
Very nostalgic look and feel of theater. Beautiful decor, very helpful and friendly staff. Variety of beverages including beer, wine, hot chocolate and root beer floats. Great place to watch throwback/oldie movies!
This lovely, restored neighborhood film theater is a great asset to Larkspur & many small, connecting communities surrounding the base of Mount Tamalpais. They run all sorts of special art films, documentaries & stage plays as well as operatic performance films. A one-of-a-kind, comfy theater to see special & unusual films while enjoying good snacks. Theater Members volunteer their time to help welcome guests & provide film information --- creating a warm, friendly atmosphere.Excellent theater!!!
Great old time vibe art house
The theater itself has the energy of one of the side rooms at the metropolitan Opera House in New York City its just such a lovely place to view a movie a big screen comfortable seats lovely people who take tickets and sell popcorn Im looking forward to driving over the bridge. there is a way to become a member and support the theater and join the Lark theater association I recommend it support your fabulous local theater
Fantastic single-screen historic art house theater. Always a range of offerings from current hot movies to special one-time arts movies in drama, theater, dance, and insider tours of museum collections. Lark is a different caliber of theater where the community loves the place, and the customers are treated well. Its the only place Ill have popcorn; organic, natural popcorn made in coconut oil and *real* butter. Beer and wine are available, as well as great coffee made individually by order.Lasik Theater is a very special place.
A wonderful way to enjoy the opera!
Very nice refurbished movie theater that has events such as broadcasting Saturday morning operas from the MET. Sing a longs too. Nice snacks and wine available too. You can hold a fundraiser there too. Always enjoy going to the Lark!!
Love that I can find films here for one or two more showings after theyve left the mainstream cinema.
Charming renovated art-deco theater. Locally run and owned by a non-profit organization. Beautiful membership community and interesting film selections. Highly recommended!
The films The Chaperone and The Russian Five were WONDERFUL FILMS...I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM !!
Small, but with a lot of history and more indy/niche shows.
Great movies, but lousy seats/not comfortable
Nice retro theater in lovely Larkspur. Great quality art programming.
This is a beautifully restored Art Deco theater that features some of the best programming in the bay area including, live digital performances of top rate theater, opera, dance, as well as rarely seen US and foreign films, and film classics. The concession stand features, high quality items, coffee, wine, and beer. The sound system is first rate. I especially appreciate the excellent headsets provided free on request for those of us with hearing impairments.
Love to see creative movies here. They have National Theater Live too. Go!
What a cute old theater! Staffs were welcoming and pop corns were great too.
Charming art déco indépendent theater. And you can enjoy a glass of wine. Love their films!
Great old style single screen theater. Shows more Indy and artistic films.
Cute theater with really kind staff and yummy snacks!
For a small, one-screen movie theater, they certainly show a lot of first rate movies. Theyre not the blockbusters that are showing at every cineplex in the country, but the ones that are highly regarded by critics. I wish we had the Lark Theater on this (the SF) side of the bridge.
The only theater that actually values art movies. Its embarrassing for San Francisco to have absolutely no movie theaters, screening Nuri Bilge Ceylans films that compete in Cannes Film festivals.
Nice little local theater.. I would go back again...
Classic, comfortable and what other movie theater sells wine and popcorn
Cozy. Nostalgic.
Wonderful little one screen theatre with a broad variety of movies, theatre shows and orchestral broadcasts, and even special events like all day movie marathons, anime premieres and ballet livestreams. decent mixture of concessions doesnt hurt the appeal at this classic small town neighbourhood theatre.
Lark is an amazing nonprofit. They serve wine and beer as well as a full concession. Best shows and best popcorn on the planet. Totally Organic.
So diverse. So much to choose from. Could go every day! Great popcorn too.
Lark Theatre is a wonderful throwback to the Art Houses of the 50s and 60s. One would never see Majorie Prime in a multiplex. Wonderful movie produced by Jon Hamm and Tim Robbins, first class actors. Plus, 1st class foreign films. My favorite theater in Marin.
A wonderful theater that rotates major motion picture movies, independent films, anime movies youd often have to travel to San Francisco or Sacramento to see, and classics that have been remastered with tremendous care.
Charming. Beautiful. Comfortable. This is such a great place to see a good movie. Its large on the inside and very spacious making every seat a great seat. The decor is deco-ish that reminds me of the famous Fox Theater in Westwood Village. They always get great movies and its never too crowded but I think it should be as this is a theater that deserves to carry on for many years to come. I couldnt recommend a better place to see a movie in all of the Bay Area. It makes movie night fun.
Larkspur has been beautifully refurbished.Great staff. Great shows.
Friendly, clean, and cozy place to visit. Great old time feel with good picture and sound.
Best place to see a movie in the area. The crew here really cares about the presentation.
Beautifully restored Art Deco Theater with lots of legroom, comfortable seats, and great programing.
Great neighborhood art house cinema.
Classic single screen art deco art house. The best!
Nice theater. Good popcorn, great movies.
This is an odd one for me to review. Why ??? Because it used to be a movie theatre back in the days when Marin had several old school movie theatres with actual up stairs balconies and only one screen and would show double features. Just to keep the time reference in context there was smoking allowed on the side row seating areas. Since the Loma Preada earthquake they shut them all down due to not being retro fitted by CEA standards. A few have reopened but they are not the same, this is one of them. So its very cute and the staff was pleasent and they did have beer and wine but I dont think thats a regular thing for the Lark. Because I was there seeing a bunch of short story films . Done by my girl friends daughter and her film class from SRHS and other local high schools. So its not like we saw a full length film and its not like it was a bad experience, it was one that 99.6% of people would not have in a traditional moving night or date night. Im glad the Lark has reopened and it did quite some time ago its just my first time back since it did. I think everyone should go at least once before we loose the old vibe to the Cineplex standard that is every where else Marin as well.
Great little local theater with an amazing array of concession stand tasty treats to nibble on during the show. Organic popped popcorn using coconut oil is my favorite or why not try a root beer float !
Great theatre. Love their film festival picks
Wonderful old theater.
Super cool venue only star off for the lack of parking and being so far off the freeway.
Arthouse and first-run films in comfy restored theater. Members get extras.
Very friendly employees and a nice movie theatre. Parking adequate, right outside the theatre.
I loved the vintage old school theater vibe! Great service and good times!
Great local theatre showing an excellent choice in art/independent films.
I love when people care enough to save old theatres Bravo to all who saved the Lark theatre
Good movies with plush seats
Love that Marin has a place like this!
Excellent movie selection, and easy to get to from the city. Food offerings are traditonal.
Wonderful art and culture films
Thanks!
Wonderful old school single screen theater!
Super fun theater to go to!
Good variety of older and cult movies
Unique selection of movies and healthy snacks
Great theater but parking is a little trickier than I expected!
