They moved from the plaza on Starkey and east bay. I went to buy my niece some fish. I Duo video conferenced her so she could see all the fish. Really clean, awesome selection of fresh & salt water fish, and huge coral/anemone selection. The employees were very helpful. Really good store.

Visited the store to get some ideas on fish for my new tank and I was blown away. They keep all their fish enclosures beautifully clean, spotless. The most Beautiful high quality fish as well. Im so excited to come back and purchase some fish and some plants. Also nice selection on clown fish and cichlids.

2 weeks ago i came to Tampa Fl for the first time and I wanted to visit different fish aquarium stores. I came across Tropical Reef and at first i was like oh okay nice but when i saw how they take good care of the fish and the pricing I fell in love. I purchased cichlids and oscars. AGAIN the prices are great. Since i live in Maryland it was hard to take them back so they offered to shipped them. The first and second shipment with FEDEX was horrible due to fedex damaging the package but A Tropical Reef gave the best customer service. I was very upset but not at ATR but with Fedex. If you are ever in Tampa, FL and love fish please go check them out. its worth it

My favorite fish store! They have the best fish, plants and staff. I have three tanks and wish I had more but the husband had something to say after the third one....The staff here is so friendly and knowledgeable. When I first started in the fish hobby about a year and a half ago I didnt know a whole lot and the staff have taught me so much and have answered so many of my questions. This store has the best looking plants in the area. There actually are not many other stores locally that have plants and if they do they just look bad. I have never had a single issue with any of the plants or fish I have purchased. I have had a few compatibility issues with fish which is not ATRs fault but they have been really good about letting me bring fish back to them as well. The new location looks great and Im really excited that they are selling frozen fish food now too.

This is the only fish store I will go to after being burned by a big box store and another local fish store. Huge selection of plants and fish. I’ve been going there for almost a year and have yet to have a single fish, shrimp, or plant die from there. I’m also a novice so it must be hardy to survive me! Their workers are experts in either freshwater OR saltwater, they will direct you to the right person so just be patient. Love the new location!

Great place where you know they have a great aquarium system and the fish are in good health. They explain the difference of a pump from the other places and the correct things to use in your aquarium.

A friend told me about this place that he got his live sand from. My friend help me with my new hobby as a reefer. I’m new at this saltwater tank. I drove from a Tampa to this place. My first impression was really nice set up. They have limited fish selections. Most LPS are for online sale only. There were 2 guys working there. One was helping one other customer. There were only 2 customers, me and the other guy. One of the employees was bagging up the fish for the other customer and he was nice enough to ask me if I needed any help. He said that he’s not good enough with saltwater reef stuffs, he said the guy wearing a hat sitting at the register will help me with my rock and sand questions. He came back saying the other guy is busy. He was playing with his phone. Didn’t bother to say hello or ask if I needed any help when I walked in. Very bad customer service. Will never come back there again.

Jesse and OBrian have been very helpful to to my daughter taking out freshwater fish. If you havent been here before youre in for a surprise. Its definitely not your typical pet store. Its more like a hidden aquarium that you get to pick the fish out and take them home. The facility is very clean and the staff are very friendly.

Huge selection of salt and fresh water fishes. Good selection of pumps, filters, and accessories. Good selection of live, frozen and dry fish food. Service was adequate from an attentive teen. The place looks a bit disorganized and was not inviting. They were playing rap very loudly. The place is lighted in blue. Its kinda weird, but if youre looking for fish stuff, Id recommend checking this place out. Its behind a Bank of America on East Bay and Starkey, in the shopping center.

I never knew this place existed. Its kind of hidden but once I found it...wow! Talk about fish! All I needed was a giant snail, which apparently are hard to find. This place had them. When I walked in, the lighting is this ambient blue color and there are aisles of tanks everywhere. Music is blaring...heavy music with a lot of base. Hmmm, okay...maybe the fish like it. Anyway, I was helped immediately and found a pretty snail. I checked out and took my snail home. I think the snail is dead though. Thats why I gave 4 stars. It died Immediately after he put it in the bag. Its been in the bottom of the tank, motionless for days. Drag.

Great privately owned fish store!!

Im a reefer of 35 years. A tropical Reef store is the best of the best with Decades of knowledge within the store and incredible finds. The staff is friendly knowledgeable and will always do their best to satisfy.

Love this store! Ive recently gotten back into the fishkeeping hobby and this place is a must for me. Very friendly staff and a big selection of fish and live plants.

Their website says that they have PREMIUM discus. Well, they had 2 big discus and the one of them their mate died. They had those for 1 year. The other discus are the size of a dime for $30. They look very weak. They had 2 dead and some swimming side ways. So they should probably revise their description on premium discus. Just saying.In addition: Saw some ill fish, 2 dead floating, plants are also not the most robust. The place definitely has potential though. Hopefully, they can get it running to its full potential. Always pleased with the fish care these guys do as well as the knowledge they bring forth in your interest in fish care. Ive had the experience of being fish from them more than once and they are always reasonably priced and will always have something new in th their tanks.A wide beaut variety of fresh as well as salt water fish including coral and sea anemones as well as some plants.As long as you know what community youre trying to put together you can find some pretty ones to join the tank or just shine feeder fish for other fish loving pets.

Had to pour my own RO water... Majority of corals were not for sale... Other corals couldnt find prices... Idk why but the zoas were all closed up and looked staved. Was disappointed

This place is absolutely AMAZING! A teenager helped us through the whole store and was 100 times more knowledgeable than the PetSmart and Petco places we visited over the weekend! I only wish we knew of this place sooner! We will definitely be revisiting again in the near future!

We got to stop in here on a whim. We got to meet the owner and talk with him about our tank. He tested our water for us for free which is something most places charge for. His set up is very nice and the prices are cheaper compared to other stores. I cant wait to see the new store that he is setting up.

Every other store in the area will accommodate when this happens, especially from a 12 yr old.Again beware!!

The owner is knowledgeable and very friendly out of all the LFS in Tampa Bay this is by far the best one. Must visit if your a hobbyist and also the best quality that you will find anywhere. Also the shop is kept immaculately clean so all the animals are living in very good conditions.

Great to have a local small business pet store! Mostly fish and other aquatic life, but some other critters to be found here. Friendly staff and prices seem to be around the box box stores, so Id personally prefer to spend my money here.

I have visited many times at the saltwater location. When looking for some specific fish for my freshwater tank I decided to check the new location out. I visited once and will not be back. They were still doing some construction from opening up the new facility but we were the only customers in the store with three employees. I started asking some questions about a particular fish that I had my eye on. The guy that I was talking to started out friendly but when I started asking specifics about the care and feeding regiment for a high maintenance fish he got very short and abrupt with his answers. Maybe he was put out because he was not sure of the answers... or I was wasting his time.. I don’t know. We left without buying anything. I am not going to put that kind of money on one fish without knowing if the shop was taking care of it the way it needs. Just off putting. I’ll continue going to my regular spot where I know the care that each fish receives.

Glad we decided to stop by. They have a great selection of freshwater fish. Im not familiar with saltwater but, there was a large amount of fish. It looks like they are in the middle of moving in or remodeling because it looks disorganized when you first walk in. Looking through the fish and plants, everything looked healthy. We had a few questions about a couple fish and plants and (Im guessing the owner or manager) had a lot of information to give.
