I was very disappointed. I drove 2 hours to Lake Casa Blanca State Park only to find that half of the park is closed off. The beginning of Roadrunner Trail (by headquarters) was open but was closed at the point where it meets with Mesquite Trail. Also it runs outside of the park boundaries. Mesquite trail is covered with broken glass throughout the trail but it did get me to the closed off section of the park. Whitetail Loop trail has tall grass that came up to my waist which is expected since the trail hasnt been used in some time but I wasnt going to risk being bit by something and the only section of Osprey Hill Loop that is open will be the scenic overlook portion. I really wish they had this information on the website so that i could have gone to a different park with accessible trails. The fish seemed to be very active. I stood on the shore thats behind Chloes Consession (its closed/going out of buisness) and within the first ten minutes there were four fish that jumped out of the water but if you plan on fishing your best bet is going to be by boat.... there are several places off the shore that you can fish from but they are also swimming areas. If you get there when the park opens you might be able to get a private area right off of State Senator Rd.. As you travel along this road you will see small parking areas on the left side, I counted seven, the sixth or fifth one looked like the nicest. Another area for fishing is off the shore around Area 1, pass the boat ramp and the parking area and turn left on the next road, once you turn stay left and theres parking back there....youll see a picnic table with a wooden fence, to the left is a trail that will take you to this spot.
This park has remnants of its history which are intriguing to discover. The birding is fantastic even in the winter. The washrooms are modern but not heated I dont believe. You hear trains and jets and traffic but overall its a tranquil spot. The egret roost is filled to capacity in the winter. Watching them leave and return is quite a sight and they fly right over the campground. Highly recommended.
No thanks, not coming back here. Its just too far away from other RV adventures. We also didnt like people walking right through our camp site willy nilly, usually kids belonging to day use visitors who used empty campsites to BBQ for the day instead of using ALL the other and available day use spots this massive park offers.Of course being right in town there are plenty of stores for any need you have.
My husband wanted to take me here for Mothers Day. He checked a few months ago and they allow trucks without a trailer. We looked online and saw they were only allowing a certain amount of people so we paid for reservations in advance. We get there and are told they are not allowing trucks any more per the state of Texas because of Covid-19. Not sure what the virus has to do with not allowing trucks at a park that boasted being the only place in Laredo to allow trucks but very nice for truck drivers trying to relax. Thanks a lot Texas
No words to express how beautiful Laredo Lake Casa Blanca Park is. There is so much to enjoy here. Water, scenic view amazing. Nice place to get away from the city. Plenty of clean restrooms available. Must visit to appreciate this hidden gem.
We loved the weather in Lareado, Enjoyed our time at this State Park. It was quiet during the week, We hiked, rode our bikes and fished everyday. Saturday night got a little loud in the distance with a party by the dock. Its a lovely park but the grounds have litter blown everywhere, bathroom need better cleaning. The highway butts up against the park but we didnt hear the traffic in the campground. The office staff was super nice and helpful!
The next time Im in Laredo Ill back! Not a bad lake from a guy that lives in the great lakes state!
Nice park! Rates are reasonable. Great Lake for fishing. Sites are large, paved and have picnic table with shade, fire pit and electric and water. Quiet. For 5 stars I’d add site sewer connections and lighting through out the park on the roads.
Been fishing this place for 20+ years! Could always use more bass! Please CATCH & RELEASEPeople complain of the tough fishing, but there’s a lot of bass in here! Striped and largemouth!
Great place for a family picknic and fishing. Nice sunsets.
I stopped here during the Covid 19 lockdown hoping to stay in touch with nature but it was closed. Thanks, China, & Fauci.
Great place to park and enjoy the weekend. They have gull hookups with power, water and sewer
Nice scenic and peaceful park on the lake. Close to town and large sites. Could use more upkeep as it is showing its age, but comfortable over all.
Park officer was nice and friendly. You can take bobtail rig in and camp. $18 a night and they have electric. $4 entry fee though. Swimming, fishing, boating.
This Park has great water/electric sites. The 100 series showers have hot water, but only 1 is operational. Friendly and accommodating staff.
This park is good if you like semi desert environment, fishing, bike ride and also people can swim, just one thing, facilities need improvements and clean more often
We had a great time. Nice place for a family gathering. Cant wait to go again.
Beautiful lake. Good place for fishing and just hanging out by the water. The sunsets are breathtaking.
Water is beyond extremely dirty, hardly any other fish besides catfish, and the game wardens are looking for any reason to citate you. (Yes used different bait, and artificial.) Great for family time.
Beautiful place for family gathering
Its a nice place to get away with family and friend..BBQ Time!!
Great park to visit. You can fish without a license there (part of a program that several Texas State parks participate in) But the small shop/bait store has never been open when weve visited, so just come prepared for the possibility that they may be closed during their posted hours. Camp sites are nice. All of the park staff are always really friendly and helpful. The lake is very large so chances are pretty good you can either find a spot to yourself or hang out at a pier and meet some new people, depending on your preferences. We always enjoy our visits. Its one of our favorite places in Laredo.
Very nice, well-kept state park. Personnel are very helpful. Great sites.
I was there with my second half. The ruins are interesting. What is the history behind this structure?
I have to say so myself, but Ms Norma who works in the office/collection booth treats everyone that visits the lake so nicely, always with a smile and a welcoming greeting to all, very professional and hard working. Ms Norma works different schedules, so she might not be there all the time, she has received great compliments by campers and daily visitors that stop by the office before checking out. Ms Norma looks like she loves her job at Lake Casa Blanca State Park. If Norma greeted you and you liked the way you were treated, make sure you leave a good word with Terry Sims, Superintendant.
Love it here good fishing
Weve had several family reunions here over the years. We just had one last week at El Ranchito. It was very nice because its inside a small building with A/C, ceiling fans & a fridge. So it was very comfortable for everyone, especially for our aunts who are in their 80s. Not as many of our cousins showed up as we were hoping. But we still had a good time & a nice visit. Its always good to see my Moms family, especially my aunts because we dont live in the same city.
Nice lake, spacious sites. Was a bit surprised that in addition to the camping fee, one must pay an entry fee to come on the park. Very pet friendly.
Day was awesome with the family but park needs alot of work done still
Very nice, mostly clean, needs some work in regards to opening up the shore to fishing.
Very cool place. Theres a lake where you can swim or take a boat. Theres fishing available as well. There are basketball courts and volleyball available though the basketball court needs some cover from the sun. There are little huts with tables and grills for bbqs but if you plan to be there after sundown make sure to bring your own light source with batteries or whatever because there arent plugs for electricity. Like always pick up after yourself to keep our parks clean.
Loved it because its a good place to bond with the family and to go fishing and enjoy the great outdoors
What beautiful place this is. On our 2nd week camping. And not planning on leaving soon
Very friendly and courteous the lady at the desk answered all my questions and got my brother his Park Pass Card
Great state park to get away for fishing, outdoor activities, and barbeques. Nice place to spend day with family.
Me and my kids love coming here to lake casa Blanca we love coming here to go fishing good sites clean family thingvery peaceful love to see the fishes jump hear the ducks the nature oh my God love it
With the all year pass can’t go wrong so many memories will keep buying that year pass
Nice camping. Good place to ride motorcycle. Fishing and more
Nice place for a picnic or get together.
Had a good time at the lake, was able to see theFireworks Extravaganza from there.
Being that its a state park the Restrooms in the Northern side of the park are missing doors or only 1 stall works, annnnd that 1 that worked was leaking water. I get that its a lake and out doorsy but dont allow the Restrooms be dusty and poorly maintained. Also you all need to look into replacing some of the tables because damn they need some work done
Its cheap only $4 per adult 13 and under is free. When its not pack then its nive but during holidays it can get overwhelming. Please always wear life jacket specially for little kids and if you are going to be riding some sort of water craft. Too many lifes lost in this lake when all it takes is a life vest to be safe. Water can be pretty dirty at times its not your clear water like gardner lol. Still you can have soem great family time.
Nice place. Beautiful scenery. You got to check it out when youre in Laredo Texas
Great place for fishing, camp, bike or trail run!
Its an OK place been once but not for long the price is ridiculous per person .. Fort worth charged for ea. Car
Good price. Course needs work, but playable if you just want to get some golf. Pro shop service was great and friendly!
Well-maintained. Peaceful. Great camping spots along with fishing, hiking, and swimming!
Havent been to the lake in a few years, had lots of fun with the kids.
At a campground for a cookout. Very nice. Great view of lake . Bathrooms by 113 very clean. Cleanliness appreciated.
The lake should have more Lighting around the bathroom erea At night its to dark for the childrens.. Plus it needs new picnic tables.. But above all its a relaxing place.. I wish they could close At 12 midnight to do more fishing..
Like the virus is Real, So. Is the GATOR, OR GATORS IN THAT LAKE. SO THINK IT OVER VERY SEROUSLY BEFORE YOU GET IN WATER.........................
Very nice, relaxed. Our visit was early Mar 2019, so low volume season. I rate 4 because soda cans and plastic bags can be readily seen around the perimeter of the site we were at and surrounding areas.
I dont know when management changed, but its looking better than ever. Thanks for a great job. PS, you need to give citations to the beer drinkers that spread cans all over.
Always a good time! Love the fishing!
Great place for cook outs and spend quality family time
Decent park for staying over to take care of business. Pretty lake. Obviously in the city and heavily used by residents. Park “allows” day picnicking in the campgrounds which was odd to us. Sad that park is heavily littered. We cleaned up our campground when we arrived - open bottles left, can of beans on grill, paper litter everywhere. No campground hosts to help w cleaning, and park presence around was rare but never felt unsafe.
Nice outdoor place to be with family and friends. It has a small shop incase you forget anything which is great.
Thanks for sharing Im new to the area hope to visit the park soon
Our only state park, good place to take the children out and get some fun.
Nice place for family fun. Im a truck driver so njoyed it fish are just small NO BUFF.
Its a Oasis in the middle of a huge city. Need a break from the concrete jungle take a chance and go see lake casa Blanca
Nice park, pretty quiet when the weather cools off.
A good place
This is the only lake in Laredo, good place for the family. Cant help the Laredo heat, but the water sure is nice!
We are still here and it is very nice. Staff is great
Its a very fun place to visit lots of trails you can read facts on animals, you can swim and much more!
Brimg some shade for the sun cuz thats prolly the only thing your gonna catch. Other than that theres playgrounds and stuff like that to enjoy so overall good weekend destination.
Nice lake, clean.... watch for skunks, my dog found one....lol!
Lush RV camping right on the lake. Good shower/changing rooms with plenty of hooks. We were in 112. Fun fishing trails along the shore. The dog loved then. But, fishermen dont pick up after themselves.
AWESOME day to be at the lake fishing.
If u r in alot of stress go fishing and enjoy
I have been staying in State Parks all over the USA for many years. This park has so much potential but it is so disappointing to see the amout of litter everywhere. The litter is not just in the day use area but also the camping. Day use I kinda get it but the camping makes no sense. If you know who has used the camp site make them accountable. I’ve arrived on Easter Monday, the families that used this place on the weekend should be ashamed of themselves. There are garbage cans everywhere but I guess they are still too far away if you enjoy camping in a pig pen. Can tell it was easter... egg cartons everywhere . What are these parents teaching their kids?I would not have given the park a single star for the actions of their guests but from reading past comments it is easy to see this is also a management issue that has been going on for sometime.State Parks are to teach our young to respect nature and the environment. If you are six years old and coming here... you have learned to throw your trash anywhere, someone else will maybe pick it up
Looove going boating . Tha lake is always perfect! The sunrise...amazing!
Many things to do there.
Dont like making bad reviews, but this is the number one place in Laredo that I believe most of us would agree on that needs some TLC. Dont mind paying admission fees, but it would be nice if they could put that money to good use. Like some extra lighting for example. My family and I love going to the lake to spend quality time, but as soon as sun starts going down we have to start packing everything up because its impossible to see anything or ANYONE. I think safety should be the number one priority for any park for that matter.
Love the placeSomtime there are stuff low prices and also expensive stuff iIt a great place ti buy foodAnd even on picnic and going to the casa Blanca andThe beach
Its awesome. Super clean. And staff are great.
Not really clean or good spots
Trashy park, the accumulated result of local morons with no respect for their city or park. NOT RV FRIENDLY!! Tree branches stick out into roadways, scratching paint and damaging trim, unless you drive completely over into the oncoming lane. Spaces have too much slope, pushing auto-leveling jack systems to their limits of travel. We had to experiment with where to park in the space that didnt actually leave the front wheels free to spin after leveling. NO FULL HOOKUPS! This park is strictly geared to overnighters, rather than longer stays that would make them more money. Terrible street design, very confusing route to get to park entrance, NO SIGNAGE TO PARK ENTRANCE from Hwy 59 southbound. And GoogleMaps doesnt even indicate where the entrance is! If you have an RV, stay at a real RV park and not this place!
Theres plenty of picnic tables/sites. The camping areas are well maintained. The walking trails do need a bit of maintenance, but are still enjoyable. Recommended to wear pants and closed shoes when walking the trails. Bug repellant is also highly recommended at all times because of the mosquitos. There are plenty of showers and public bathrooms available for day visitors and campers. Some campsites are further from these amenities than others, so keep that in kind when choosing a campsite.
This little boy has a lot of fun
Hiking trail was great. Did a 5k last weekend there. Go fishing once in awhile.
New trails. I enjoyed it.
Great place to be with your family!
Love the pier n the fishing is good. Caught a 10lbs lg. Mouth bass n about 10 atriper bass. Awsome place
Family place to do carne asada and fishing
I love it there I will just go just for the quite
Nice place, relaxing.
Enjoyed our stay despite a lot of litter. Picnic areas were very trashy. Crews were busy trying to clean it up. Some campsites had litter, nearly all had Easter egg shell debris. Problem is the visitors not being held accountable. As first time visitors,CoPilot navigation was awkward. Google Maps and CoPilot both tried to route us thru the closed Boy Scout entrance. Getting out of the park was awkward if you wanted to visit Laredo. I tried two exits. Both forced a right turn. Looping thru the Airport or shopping center are both awkward ways to get turned around. Traffic was hurried, feared getting rear ended. In departure we wanted to hit Walmart and Asador Las Palmas before heading east. The Chile Rellenos made the awkward detour worth it.
So pretty but would be prettier if ppl would clean up their trash she they leave.
“We almost live here. Love it. ”Somebody who has stayed here should rate it I guess. So. I guess the wife and I truly meet that requirement seeing as we have stayed here every other week since September 2011. Thats about 798 days total. So if I say its like being at home believe me. The wife is a traveling nurse and we have completed so.
It was an alluring place, good experience for first time!
Nice park. Has some geocaching sites in it. We had a good day.
Well-kept park, friendly staff. Second time camping there, will go again
Trash, trash everywhere. Our first campsite had so much trash that we had to move. Our second site was still trashed. The pic I area near the lake was full of trash. The bathrooms were old and filthy. We left after on day. A real nasty place.
Really fun place to spend with the family, however, of course the lake isnt very well, from plastic to even bottle glass inside the water. Make sure to water shoes. & in Laredo, its like 99% always sunny & super hot haha, so a small roof on the T pier would be nice.
Great place for a picnic or if your planning a special holiday or birthday
