I had the wellness director kick me out today. I walked in with my mask on and per policy while i was working out pulled it down over my face so i could breathe better. He warned me once proceeded to walk downstairs and workout with people who were doing the same thing I was. 2nd time he came up i tried showing him the policy and he said I had to leave due to code of conduct He tried taking my information but once the director of the Y talked to me he assured me I was in the correct and would talk to the wellness director Ive been a member for years and never met anyone there so disrespectful.
I was a previous manager of another local gym. I know gyms everyday I come here there is an issue in one way or the other. They have screwed up the way my family membership is listed and we have called few times over the years, no one can help us. I am not exaggerating when I say to sign in it takes us around 4 min. Today, we tried to swim and after waiting outside for 15 mins a lifeguard comes up to tell us that we can’t swim because it thundered outside. I have never heard of this rule before. I know we swam when it was raining before. We will probably cancel but because it’s a quasi government entity it doesn’t matter. Just very frustrated. Under the logic of thunder and power going out, how can people lift weights during thundering and lightening storms, what if the power goes out?
The Staff in the aftercare was wonderful to my child and he loved going everyday. Even my daughter who came with us to pick up our son loved Mrs. Patty (She is wonderful) We had to leave suddenly last month to go to a more affordable program and I was aware of the policy and asked if they made acceptions for refunds. They said they could not fill the spot therefore i could not get my refund back. I then asked for a credit to the Club but they never replied to my e-mail. Just wish they would of replied either way.
Have always had a positive experience with the YMCA. Ive found the front desk personnel to be friendly, professional and prompt when checking in. The equipment is well maintained and clean. I typically only use the lap pool but when I do it is at a good temperature and not too crowded. The hot tub may be a little heavy with the chlorine, but with all the use, its understandable. The YMCA is an excellent value and a strong asset to the community. Very happy with the recent additions. Keep up the good work !
Family pool should be renamed to sardine can.YMCA will NOT let you use the lazy pool section or the slide due to lack of staffing. This makes the pool half the size and its packed with 30+ members at any given time. Its like 1 life guard to 30 member ratio.Oh never forget your kids swimming band otherwise s/he will be forced to wear a life jacket in 3ft water. Does this mean wearing the green band will save ones life??? Better solution is to provide a loaner to members since we are already paying for our membership.Staffs are like robots. They have no sympathy. Maybe start thinking where your pay checks come from???
This branch of the YMCA is a bit of a mixed bag of good & bad, old & new. The new section of the Y is really nice. It has three pools and a really good family locker room area. The layout in the gym is a little odd - I prefer the layout in the Indian Valley branch. Some of the folks I’ve interacted with there are really great. My daughter took a youth fitness class there and it was really cool how Phil spent some time with them and gave them an introduction to boxing. On the constructive side, the older side of the building looks very dated. Also the location of this branch apparently isn’t the best. My wife’s car window got smashed and her belongings taken while her car was parked there on a Sunday afternoon. Nobody saw anything and no cameras on that section of the lot. A friend of mine’s car was keyed up while he was in the Y doing his workout. So we prefer to go to go to the Indian Valley Y, rather than the Lansdale branch.
The atmosphere is very comfortable, welcoming to beginners and experienced gym goers alike!!
This is a great facility, I swim there often - pool is well maintained and the sauna I use after my swim feels so good! They have lots of equipment too. The locker room is very large, lots of lockers and showers, with built in hairdryers which I think is a nice benefit.
I think there is a lot of potential for improvement. The center is beautiful.I took the kids here because we had off from school and I heard the pool was really cool. We swim regularly at our home YMCA and all 4 kids have taken at least 2 courses of swim classes. To hang out in the maximum of 3 foot water (there is a separate family pool area) you have to pass an extensive swim test. It included lap swiming in the lanes, treading water for a timed amount of time, jumping in the deep end, and getting out of the pool without using a ladder. All of my kids had to wear life vests ages 10 to 6 and stay an arms reach from me at ALL times, or we got yelled at and basically harassed my the life guards. It is overkill. They are all a foot and a half taller than the deepest water in the kid area. They can all swim in deep water and are in water at least 2 times a week.I understand safety but this is absolutely unnecessary and frankly unfair. I am always in the water with them and watching them. We have been to all sorts of water parks and pools and none of them have rules like this. You made my children feel horrible.Beyond that- the water slide was closed the entire time and the water park area was closed shortly after we got there.
The summer camp was horrible and I would not ever recommend this place to anyone. Counselors yelling and rude to children because they are frustrated and bothered. Children rushed around. Boring activities and kids barely get to swim.
Literally NO AC in this building ever...top floor is stifling...Ive stood right under the vent and no air comes out. I can only imagine its worse for the seniors.....Seriously someones going to have a heat stroke...equipment seems to be under maintainenced. Some of the staff is extremely nice. There is a woman from Roxborough thats always pleasent. Then there was another playing candy crush who scoffed at me like I was the biggest inconvenience to her on a Sunday.....Hey I get it alot of the people volunteer but there is no reason to be rude for no reason. Def one of the lesser y’s Ive been to.
Wow. workers are rude! they shouldnt work at this kind of places.. Please read all the reviews.. Im only signed up because it is closer to my house but each time I come I talk to myself.. I dont want to come back.. how management continues to let employees to abuse and be rude to customers continuously???? I wish I could video tape their faces and expressions and report to the state..
Horribly run swim classes. I still have an active membership and will not be rerolling my son in the swim pool program. Ive also signed him up for a fitness class at the gym and when we arrived we were told the class had been cancelled.
Just signed up through my insurance company. Very big location. Nice pool area and the gym room has all the necessary weights and machines. I prefer this over LA fitness for the gym part honestly. Simple small basketball court and a pool. Theyre also expanding
Great Staff...Indoor pool is nice in the winter...kids had a blast!
This YMCA is mostly for swim club, regular members don’t get chance to swim up till 7.30 pm.Wanted to swim after work after 4.30 but unfortunately have to wait till 7.30, and someday after 7.30 another group is coming for learning so for normal members have only two lanes for swimming. In short in this YMCA I doesn’t have feelings of YMCA.
Probably great if you want to do laps or bring the family. I use the pool for pain control. Today, I got squeezed out of the “family “ pool because a couple of people wanted to do laps so they roped off a big section. Another section had buckets of water pouring down and the small section that I was squeezed into was taken over by someone who wanted to practice their kicks. I found out after I changed that the other pool was open even though the schedule said lessons. Basically, there is no dependable place where you can hang out. Why could they not have told me this before I joined?
DO NOT Sign your kids up for swim lessons here!!! Horrible customer service and extremely poor communication from staff, front desk and aquatics director (Cindy).Signed my kids (age 3 and 4) up for a 10 week intro to swim class and on DAY ONE they were fully submerged against their will 3 minutes into the lesson!!! Needless to say my 3 year old was completely petrified and so freaked out about it that he wasnt able to continue class. Now he is petrified of big pools all together because he doesnt want to drown....I am lucky he still likes the water at all!I called to talk about this with the aquatics director (Cindy) and remove him from the class and she was completely condescending and rude to say the least. We also had an issue with no one telling us where to go from week one to week 2 (my oldest son stayed in class long enough for week 2). They changed the pool location for lessons AND the instructor and didnt even tell parents or the kids that their teacher from week one wasnt their real instructor. What a mess. Needless to say I had to remove both of my kids from class since they had such a poor and traumatizing experiences there. Could not be more disappointing by the lack of empathy or compassion they had when I tried to let them know about the clear lack of communication and planning we experienced there.I will be enrolling my kids at the Harleysville location instead - lesson learned!
The new pool is very nice but how it is managed for lap swimming is very poor.Frequently people are wading or water walking during lap swimming when they have two other pools that can used for that purpose. Also during busy lap swimming times they often allow people to occupy a single lane and not double up like most pools do to allow more people the opportunity to swim laps.
Great place with amazing staff! no babysitting hours during the afternoon though... Only reason I did not join again. the price is WORTH EVERY PENNY if you can utilize the babysitting times :)
I dont want to give even a one star to this place. I just had my sons 6th birthday party and that was the the worst birthday ever. I wont recommend this place ever. His birthday supposed to be a Batman, the only Batman were the balloons. I order and pay for his cake and that was a huge mistake. The cake supposed to a Batman cake, o well wasnt. It was a yellow and green mix together and just trough on top of the cake and I thought the cake was at least 5 days old, wasnt fresh at all. Worst cake ever. I had a feeling the plates were left over from other parties too. Dont waste your money for this place.
Wonderful, the staff is happy to help when ever needed without being pushy. My two youngest sons are able to take the same swimming class and we are all looking forward to it all week. Thank you, for the outstanding experience and see you all on Sunday.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Only complaint is only one basketball court and its always being used. They can use another gym or basketball court.
The place is very nice and clean but the people at the front desk are rude. I called in to ask about some activities and she was really rude about it and I was being very polite. I was on the phone talking and she quickly answered in a rude tone then said I have a emergency right now and I said oh sorry i didnt know and the lady goes mmhm and hangs up on me.
Front desk staff is really informed of all activities.they are courteous and pleasant..
They must throw away the sign in sheets.
Excellent staff and services
Excellent facility. Courteous staff. Clean building and pools. Plenty of parking.
Trying to become a regular member because my reciprocal membership ends in December, but I have a medicare discount through Abington y. All my info is still the same. Cant it just transfer over?
I play Pickleball Monday and Wednesday although it is a great group of folks that play we only have one court and only play two days per week. Considering how popular Pickleball is becoming I think they should open it up at least three days per week and purchase a better net. The net they are using is not a standard Pickleball net and should be upgraded.
They have a wonderful gyms for adults and a wonderful child care for the kids and S excellent they havent kids gym
A great family atmosphere I would give them 6 stars if I could !!
I put my money in for a snack and I didnt receive what I had paid for. I went to the desk and they didnt give me a full refund they gave me half of what I paid and the lady used the excuse this is all I have. Another thing is the gym is not always open . Alot of the times it is in use . They should really get another basketball gym. Other than that it has been great.
Worse customer service Ive ever experienced. Madeline in membership services started a yelling match with me while her Supervior Zelda sat and said nothing. I would leave negative stars if I could.
Here there is something for everyone. The Gym is very nice & so is the pool.
#1 They are liars#2 Bad management (run poorly)#3 They play favorites#4 Some of the older ladies shouldnt be working with kids (Mis Kim)Dont get me wrong there are some good people there but for the most part I wont be sending my child there next year..
Worst establishment!! Gym smells and pool is dirty not recommended for real training awful customer service!!!
Its awful . Specially the reception stuff .
