A bit turned off at the thought of going into a larger outfitter when some smaller more local looking ones are in the neighborhood. My impression was quickly negated. Knowledgeable staff made it easy to find new waters to fish without giving up the honey holes.... I respect that! great selection of flys and tieing material. go see Joe or Josh for your fly fishing needs. also great selection of quality apparel from the likes of simms and the northface.

Seems like a great store with a great selection. Just a bummer that they have opted out of wearing PPE at this stage of the pandemic. They definitely have lots of customers traveling from other states that end up in the store, just need to be careful with that happening. Lots of stores in Lander are taking it seriously and protecting their employees and customers, well choose to give our money to them for now. But like I started, seems like a nice place with a nice selection. Hopefully my gripe is irrelevant a year from now.

A great outdoor store with a massive selection of brands. They are one of the few physical retailers that sells Lowa that I’ve visited. The best part is the customer service. Every time Ive been in they’ve been helpful yet un-intrusive. I also enjoy that they let their customers and staff be adults about their own personal safety in regards to mask. Would highly recommend to shooters as well. Their ammo prices are more than fair during these times of shortages.

I always enjoy shopping at Wind River Outdoor Company.Huge selection, great products, and my personal favorite - they always have the most current in quality outdoor fashion. As an avid hunter, hiker, and all around outdoor girl I love having a local place that has everything we could need.I can’t say enough about the service!! Super friendly and people that really know the products they are selling.My boyfriend and I ran in last weekend and everyone was super helpful. One of the employees went out of his way to show us variety of backpacking gear while also educating us on the right way to load a backpack and fit it to your body the right way.Another employee Continually checked to make sure we didn’t have any questions on products and helped us to get the most out of our purchases. My boyfriend was pumped with the items he got and immediately ran out to give his new gear a try.Will definitely be going back.

Received gloves as a gift for Christmas that did not fit. Refused to exchange because I did not have original manufacturers packaging. Youd think that local businesses would go out of the way to earn business from big box stores and/or Amazon, but it appears not. Pass on this store.Edit: I was actually wanting to exchange, not return but fair enough. When you say the big box stores have the same return policy this is false. Bass Pro, Amazon, and Walmart will exchange with no receipt or original tags. If you got the item there, they take care of it.On top of this I offered to pay a restocking fee of 15 or 20 percent as I see the problem this can bring, but alas there was no wiggle room.It doesnt matter anyway, I have already emailed the manufacturer to exchange the item. So problem solved I guess...

This owner clearly has an anger management issue. Lander is too small a town for this to be a viable business model. I wont be returning.

This place deserves its solid five-star rating. ️ ️ ️ ️ ️My husband and I stopped in to the store to look at snowshoes last spring while in Lander for a camping trip in Sinks Canyon. We ultimately passed on the snowshoes but bought an expensive pair of binoculars, but I think that the staff would have been helpful and friendly even if we had bought nothing.We still talk about what a feel-good experience we had at this store, and we have been keeping a list of what to buy from them on our next trip to Lander. We would rather wait to buy from a store that deserves our business than bolt down the street from our house to buy from corporate-y REI.

Impressive store. The older gentlemen that work there are very nice and helpful. I was given the advice that I should buy something that was $40 instead of what I thought I needed which was $240. Very upright people to pass on a bigger sale to get me what I really needed. (FYI, There are GRIZZLIES around here and BEAR SPRAY is much more effective than a shotgun)Very big selection of hiking and backpacking gear. Little gadgets I had never seen that would be very useful. All sorts of apparel, backpacks, sleeping bags and pads. Wyoming trinkets and stickers. Very nice store, very nice people.

This place is awesome! I... love the ol timey hole in a wall joints, but this place is new and cool. Im not a salty fly fisherman and these guys didnt care. They told me and my buddy what we needed to use, how to use it, and even showed us on a map where to use it. And its not just fishing stuff, its all sorts of outdoors stuff in a brand new clean place

These guys are always on top of it when I go in to purchase a firearm. And I will continue doing so. I live 3 hours south of Lander so that right there should tell you something.
