Tough course at times when you cant hit it straight. The course is in great shape where some of the greens are like walking on a carpet. Good place for the money. Play here a few times a year. The have a great concession stand at the turn. Fully stockes.

Older course, but it couldnt be in better shape. Greens and fairways were beautiful. Being the first one out in the morning (7am) makes for a nice quick round, finished 18 in 4 hours with a foursome. I could see that the place was getting pretty busy by the time we left. Lots of open areas along the fairway, so not too much opportunity to get in trouble. Cant wait to go back.

I played the course for the first time the other day. I was pleasantly surprised with the layout and condition of the course. My only complaint was that yardage to the pin wasnt marked will in the fairway, and they could use ball washers and spike brushes. Aside from that its a very nice course...

Went golfing there this morning, alright course. It is April so in good shape for April. Some strange holes, somewhat scenic, not extremely difficult. Not my first choice in course in the area but would return, definitely not a country club feel. Worth going to once but not a course I’m dying to play again. Staff is very friendly.

PLEASE READ. I called to schedule a tee time. I was informed that they weren’t accepting single golfers (due to the virus), so I asked the gentleman on the phone if it was okay that my girlfriend rode along in the cart to count us as a twosome, and requested not to be paired with another group due to her being autoimmune compromised. He said that was okay as long as she paid the cart fee, and he proceeded to schedule us for a tee time.So my girlfriend and I drove 45 minutes to the course, only to be told by the shift manager that I would be golfing with a 3-some and my girlfriend couldn’t come with. After finding out that one of the members from the 3-some dropped out, the manager said that she could ride along with me in the cart, but she’d have to pay the $45 greens fee, along with the cart fee, and must have her own set of clubs. None of this was talked about in my original phone call when I scheduled the tee time. Then the manager had the audacity to tell me that I didn’t mention anything about my girlfriend to whoever I spoke with on the phone. Clearly there’s some disconnect between management and the employees at this place. I would have loved to golf here, but that was a terribly poor way of doing business considering I had a pre-approved tee-time, was told I’d be paying much less, was told I wouldn’t be paired with anyone, and drove 45 minutes to get there. I won’t ever be coming here again and that’s based solely on the poor management skills.

First time playing here was july 4th weekend. Got out early. We beat the people infront of us to the first tee so the starter let us play. I thought the course was in decent shape. Fairways were cut. Repairs we’re being made to the tee boxes. Greens can be tough here on a hot day. Halfway house was open and they had a cart girl going around. What I appreciated the most at this club were the marshalls driving around keeping pace ofnplay going. Not enough courses do that anymore. I would play here again

Please beware of this place!! I had to book a different venue the day before my Mother’s surprise bday event because the banquet manager, Radona, put wrong date in the computer system which lead to booking a sweet sixteen on our day and lied. Instead of telling us she made a mistake, she continued to lie and say there was a leak in the ballroom and that is why they couldn’t do the party. Luckily, Andrew, who is the owner of the Grand Venetian, helped with finding a new venue the night before and helped cater because of the huge inconvenience. Radona seems to be very nice initially, but after getting our initial deposit, I saw how careless and insensitive she can be. Had we not talked to the owner, she would have continued with her lie and cared less of the struggle we had to go through in finding a different place in such short notice.

Definitely worth the money to go out and play golf here! I believe its the oldest golf course in New Jersey?... It has a great night bar called Maggies, and wedding hall and bar upstairs! The driving range is great and not too expensive, even practice putting green. The Pro Shop is nice also for what you need! Locker room showers for members, just the change of ownership bothered me because my retired father worked in the Pro Shop doing carts .. he didnt work there for their minimum wage, but just the perks of golfing and being able to bring friends and family! New owners changed a lot of rules with that! Also let him go and didnt say a word about it!

I recently made a tee time using the app on my phone which turns out is the Golf Now app. Now dont let that fool you. LCC has full control over who gets charged and who does not. If I had called up and made the tee time, I wonder if the manager would have come out to take my money out of my pocket because my 3rd and 4th did not show up that day. It turns out I only had a twosome but because I made a foursome reservation (much like a county course) LCC is now in the business of penalizing people for full price on no-shows. Except the woman who happily took my money and my friends money when we checked in and alerted her that we were only a twosome. No one said a word about being charged for the two no shows. But as sure as the sky is blue my AMEX got charged $108 for 2 tee times. There was no one on the course. In fact, it appears there is no one ever there anymore except kids in jeans pretending to golf. I called the manager to ask for a credit as I was never told I would be charged for the no shows as I have never been charged by any course if 2 of the 4 people show up. They are lucky anyone ever shows up at all. I am not worried aboutbtge money because I have already asked AMEX to stop payment and launch an investigation. Theybalways come through for me. Policy or no policy, they absolutely control who gets charged and who doesnt just like any other golf course. Now they have lost the $108 and me and my friends as Lakewood customers. I will never set foot in that dog track ever again as the manager was as arrogant as he could be over the phone and basically told thats the way it is. I said I would never play there again, and he hung up on me. Its a shame because I was a long time fan of this golf course. Years ago (about 5 or 6) the grounds crew and whomever was the head of the grounds crew did an unbelievable job of making LCCs course a phenomenal place to play at a reasonable price. In recent years the quality of the golf experience has gone downhill because they cant keep the course well maintained. There seems to be some effort but not like in the past. This is no longer a desirable golf course. Much like Cruz Farms and any other starter course, I would only recommend this course for folks starting learning to play.Sorry Lakewood Country Club but you are nuts if you think I am paying for the 2 tee times.

Only a golf course rating, not a restaurant review. Wanted to grab a bite to eat after the round out on the patio which looked nice and had a guy on guitar that sounded great and added to the atmosphere. Only problem was the smell of cigarettes as the outdoor bar and dining was all smoking permitted and I cant stand the smell of smoke while Im eating. Anyway, about the course... 2 stars. First appearance is it looks like youre pulling into a salvage yard with all the disused and rusting piles of tractors and mowers and equipment. The clubhouse and pro shop leave a lot to be desired. Think 1950s without any charm or nostalgia. We drove from N.Y. to play because it was a hot deal and it was a place we never played before so figured, what the heck. The workers were nice and friendly so nothing against them. The driving range seamed tight in the brick walled stalls with wooden columns that felt like Id hit on my follow thru with driver. The course itself had a few holes that seemed more gimmicky (2 trees right in the middle of the fairway of a par 4 where you need to hit your tee shot, U-shaped par 5, a 225 yard par 3 that is out of place) than planned out. The greens are tiny and that itself is not a negative until you realize no approach shot will hold on them. OK you think, Ill just bump and run it up... nope. Its not anything that would play that way and there are some crazy bounces. I wouldnt say its in bad shape, just not in any kind of shape that you can score on. Im a 6 handicap and shot an 85 without really hitting any really bad shots. Just a course where you can not score and that makes for a frustrating round of golf. For tiny greens they have some weird bumbs and valleys making your approach shot equivalent to landing in a space the size of a garbage can lid to have any shot. Good luck!

I arrived 15 mins prior to my reservation and was told the group I was supposed to be paired up with had gone out already. So starter sent me out on back 9. After 9 I was told to go out in front of a 3some and behind. 2some. Needless to say I’m sandwiched between 2 groups and waiting on every hole. The smart thing would’ve been to pair up with either group. Made my experience terrible.Absolutely disgusted. Why have tee time if you don’t honor them.

Beware Barry, the 75 year old bag boy.I brought my family to enjoy a round of golf at this course where we were immediately greated by a grouchy old man named Barry. Barry threatened us by telling us that if you dont drop your bags off here at the cart shack I wont give you a cart and youll be walking next time. We told Barry we understood and went on our merry way. As we approached the starter I started to think that after I just spent $250 to take my family for a round of golf I should not have been threatened like this. I spoke with the starter about how rude this man was to us where he said well we all know Barry has a screw loose but we didnt know it was that loose! Barry then proceeded to drive out onto the golf course to argue with my group yelling about how he wasnt being rude!!! I have played this course before but I never will again. The worst customer service I have ever had period. Dear manager...you will not retain customers with rude service. Get rid of your group of grouchy old retired employees that dont want to be there and watch your business flourish.

Visited the park in front of Lakewood Country club where they had two sets of playground equipment. One was roped off due to broken steps. This is Pine Park on County Line Road. Great bbq areas and playground equipment throughout vast park. At the Country Club we planned an early dinner there for sisters birthday. She went in, we followed, place was empty and they wanted to seat us, about 8 people, cramped by a fireplace. After talking her into it we sat down and she picked up a fork from the table which slid from her hand. End of that, we left.

The course itself was in great condition, with open wide fairways and relatively fast, undulating greens. Some of the pin placements of the day seemed a little tricky, being very close to a ridge on the green, but still enjoyed the challenge. The starter was friendly enough. The reason for less than 5 stars is because of a few groups we encountered on the course. We were hit into twice by a group who decided to skip some holes and squeeze in behind us on the 16th. This is despite them seeing us within range and seeing the group ahead of us still on the tee box of the next hole. Then on the 18th, another group squeezed in from who knows where while we were driving up to the tee box. Neither group gave us any acknowledgement. Not sure if this is the norm for this course, as we did see rangers on the front 9, but those groups definitely soured an otherwise pleasant round.
