This place is great! The bugs were kinda irritating but the axe throwing was a blast! If you buy tickets in advance they are run rain or shine, so be prepared.

So much fun! Was a chilly day so it was like 8 of us. Guild showed us tricks and throwing multiples. Able to bring own food and beer! Not recommended to bring kids not much for them to do. Hammershogan is also there to play.

I had a reservation for April 4th, which obviously could not be fulfilled due to the virus....so I called several times and left a message to find out what could be done and no body ever answered, I never received a call back, and they even emailed me (probably auto-generated) to hope I had a good time while I was there. I emailed back saying no, I obviously didn’t have a good time and have yet to receive a response.

I was really excited to do this. Just the whole thing was an amazing idea and all the reviews were very positive. This was sadly a waste of time in my experience. I went in with high expectations and just felt very underwhelmed with the whole thing. You pay 30$ to go throw axes for 2 hours, thats it. No lessons, no advice, and just very worn equipment. I went by myself since my friend got sick and was grouped with a family of 4, a group of friends of 4 and a couple. The website listed that a time slot is for 10 people not 11. 12 if my other person came! The lanes... Were an absolute mess. Our Instructor never gave guidelines of how to throw outside of just flick your wrist when you throw. Another patron asked how long hes been instructing and the response was hes only been working the axe range recently and doesnt have the time to practice himself. Beyond this he never said anything about throwing or waiting to throw or anything about saftey guidelines. I watched people go down the lane on more then one occasion while someone else was in mid throw or about to throw. The only time he interjected a saftey point was when people were throwing more then one axe before going down lane.I watched a few YouTube videos during my 2 hour slot to figure out how to throw better.I took a solid hour before I was able to get the axes to stick consistently. I learned (thanks to YouTube) that you adjust your step backwards by about six inches if you strike the target with the butt of the handle; hold the axe like you would shake someones hand and lastly loosen your grip and let the axe slide from your hand, dont let it go when you throw. These tips got me to hit and stick the target, granted I had poor accuracy. As for the equipment, its well worn. Were talking handles that are splitting and just broken targets. In other reviews people have posted cut log targets, we got stuck with board ones.a plus note: they did have multiple styles of hand axes. A double headed axe, a standard wood handle hatchet, a fiber glass handled hatchet and a modern tomahawk. Sadly they all needed to be sharpened, honed and many needed a new handle.Ultimately, I had some fun but I spent 45 minutes driving to Lakeville and spent 30$ to throw an axe. I couldve spent 10$ to buy a hand hatchet at home Depot and just hung up a 10$ board with some spray paint and saved myself a 1.5hour drive. I plan on trying this place again for the arrow force event but not anytime soon.

Showed up 15 minutes early as recommended, ended up waiting around a half hour before starting any kind of safety briefing due to prep time. Gus was a good instructor, very enthusiastic. A large group of people showed up 45 minutes late to the reservation getting intoxicated and were obnoxious. They held up the group a bunch of times because they werent paying attention. Really spoiled the fun. Left early.
