Nice calm and peaceful forest preserve, with a Creek running through it. Walking through beautiful winding trails was very relaxing.Spotted couple of deers while walking. The play area is well maintained and not so crowded. There are plenty of parking lots available. The Preserve is well cladded in a beautiful neighborhood.

The playground was appropriate for any age group from young toddler on and quite large! Sand pit, climbing, slides, swings, ramps. The trails are beautiful prairie paths. Beautiful views even from the playground.

I have visited Heron Creek Forest Preserve on a few occasions now for a short walk along the trails. Although the fine gravel pathways tend to be pretty dusty they are all evenly paved and taken care of to the same degree as the rest of the preserve. Overall this is a pretty nice open space that I can recommend if you want to spend some time outdoors.

Nice small preserve with s play ground, nice pavilions and ample parking. The Southern loop is scenic with trees, meadow and the creek as you cross bridges. The Northern loop does not offer sny shade and is close to the road.

They show a beautiful picture of a lake and the creek but you cant get to it from what I saw. I tried to find a path but nothing. The overgrowth I expected but the pictures make it look like you can find something off the main gravel trail. great for a walk on the trail but pictures are deceiving.

Good trail, kids park is closed due to COVID restrictions but trail is open for people to walk and bike. All people on the trail were wearing masks and maintaining social distance. Area in general is peaceful and well kept. Trail path has few high and low spots but in general seems to be flat, which is good for young kids on bike.

Great forest preserve. Gorgeous, creative playground for all ages and abilities. Even an old-school sand/digging area! Several picnic shelters, parking areas, maps. And while it is nature, be aware of ticks. My least favorite part about Lake County forest preserves. Just check yourself before you leave and when you get home!!!

Bike trail is not hard for beginners, maybe a bit too easy for the experienced, but definitely family-friendly. The two gazebos are perfect for a group picnic. Grounds are well-maintained, and children always have fun esp. when going downhill on their bikes.
