Free admission & parking. I spent two hours reading everything but other visitors were content with half an hour. Artifacts discovered at archeological digs, photographs, interpretive signs, short video, two animatronics, Abner plantation, Dow Chemical, origins of the town & development, movie theater, flight simulator.
A lot to learn about lake Jackson. A very unique area
Friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Only problem was it was kinda small, but hey it was free.
Took my children on a fieldtrip here. I didnt get her name but lady at the front desk was super sweet and helpful. My kids enjoyed the learning experience and so did I.
One of our favorite places to take our children. They have some really interesting things and a lovely game room for the kids! We enjoy it every single time we go!
Always such a wonderful venue spot for the catering jobs that I have helped turn out. A very neat place to learn about the area.
A small history museum with a huge variety of themes, from its sugar plantation history, to Selenas hometown, and from the opus of renowned architect Alden B. Dows Frank-Lloyd-Wright school of architecture, to the birthplace of seawater-derived magnesium metal and modern plastics industry. Theres something for everyones interests.
A great place to bring kids on spring break. They had at least sixty games set out on tables for children and adults. The staff members are informative and helpful.
If you are interested in a Readers Digest version of the areas history, this is the place.
Very interesting
Love this place. Anytime I am bored with my kids we stop in and check out whats new. Lots of cool local items to learn about. The theater is like a step back in time and always playing a documentary that I have a hard time prying myself away from. The robotic statues of local heroes are cutting edge. The flight simulators are awesome. They have a fun event going on most weekends. The staff is more than friendly and I recommend this place to anyone who lives in Brazoria county or driving through.
Extremely educational place not just about the city but a very good look at the education and philosophy of the dow family that helped develop the local plant and city nearby
Cool information on the history of Lake Jackson and the individuals who made it or were from the city. Lots of information on the birth of the city by Dow, music star Selena, and other things unique to the area. Has a neat airplane hanging in the museum and a flight simulator.
Great place to visit, it tell you the history of the development of lake Jackson. Its free.
Its honest of what happened to the natives in the area
Great place to spend half a day there they have a lot of fascinating things and activities took my wife and 2 year old kids. Was cool seeing the history of the area especially since I moved here about 2 years ago
Nice little local museum. Very interesting and great learning experience
Small cozy museum focused on the history of Lake Jackson. They also regularly have traveling exhibits come through. Staff is passionate and friendly.
Love the play area, they got 2 new airplane modules to play with also. We go often.
I had my first visit to the museum and had a very pleasant and informative experience there. I arrived just before closing and did not have as long as I would have liked to look around. I will be going back to have another visit.
This is an AWESOME museum to go to!! Highly recommend!!
I took my four year old grandson and my daughter-in-law. Unfortunately, the second floor was closed because of an air conditioning leak. The downstairs had some interesting information about local history and best of all (from my grandsons perspective) an activity room where there were interesting books and toys. We will go again.
Lots of great events. Also some nice preeminent exhibits that explain the unique creation and heritage of Lake Jackson.
Good info. The Dupont family built a great legacy in the City of Lake Jackson.
Very informative about lower Brazoria County and Lake Jackson areas past.
If you don’t like history then this really isn’t for u but overall it’s pretty cool
Really informative, great history.
A free museum! What more could you ask for? I love this place because their is a play area for my toddler to play. The play area has books, magnets, blocks, puzzles, and assorted toys. There are talking wax mannequins that the kids will get a kick out of.
Cultural events to go to with no cost and you can learn about some pretty amazing things.
Fun to see memories from my childhood.
Great staff and neat place to check out
Interesting and nice helpful staff
Free to go...cool airplane hanging from ceiing and a mini movie theater!
Very interesting for what it is.
Loved the history of construction and the sugar plantations
Very friendly staff, is a little museum but with interesting history facts.
I always bring in people with me to see this museum that have not been and didnt know about it. I love going, they always have new things and travelling exhibits as well as events.
Wonderfully educational museum.
Great museum!
Completely inaccurate portrayal of Karankawa Indians, not sure where they are getting their information but they really need to do more research. Basically its a museum about the history of Lake Jackson, friendly staff and clean restrooms.
Loved learning the history of the area.
Spring Break outing. We really enjoyed it. Pleasantly surprised by the layout and the artifacts on display. We arrived close to closing time but will be returning on another day to really take time to enjoy all the museum has to offer. You will leave with a new understanding of why there is a ThisWay, ThatWay, and CircleWay. If you grew up in this area this is worth the visit.
Showcases local history in the best way possible, as well as hosting community-centered events. Love the animatronic engineers and the flight simulator.
I spent about an hour here to soak up some history about Dows operations in Freeport. Good exhibits, nice displays
