My husband and I attended a wedding on October 24, 2020 at the Margate Resort. This was our 1st time in this area and we were impressed. The setting is absolutely gorgeous...especially in the fall! We got some really pretty pictures. The wedding was held outside under a tent and the tables were socially distanced (during this pandemic). The food was delicious and we loved everything we ate. If you are looking to have your wedding at the Margate, as a guest, I would recommend it highly. We had such a great time and the staff was very nice.

Hotel is way better than the stock photos. Beach front is beautiful with lovely sand and shallow sandbar.Only negative are the single use plastics at breakfast, (plates, cups, cutlery) for a NH hotel they could be more environmentally friendly.

The location and amenities were great. The rooms were on the smallish side and the building we were in needed updating. More thought has to be given making sure a handicapped walker can get through doorways. Not all handicapped people are elderly, my son has cp and needs a walker. It was impossible for him to shower too as he couldnt access the tub. But the facility, etc., was great. We loved the beach bar and families of ducks.

Kudos to the crew at Margate that made our stay very pleasant. Melinda, Pam, Rebecca, the breakfast service people and the beach bar and the unforgetable views of the lake were excellent. We hope to be back at the first opportunity!

Definitely overrated. The lake view rooms didn’t impress me at all. Windows were foggy and the room was just mediocre. $955 for 3 nights was a sham. They need to desperately invest in upgrading these rooms. I paid top dollar and just about all the amenities were closed (pools, etc) breakfast was like doggy bag. Would I go back, absolutely NOT.

Nice resort, a bit dated though. Would be nice to have an option for food other than the bar on the lake. All in all I would go back. Reasonably priced!

Stayed for 5 days very quiet grab and go breakfast was good and beach bar was very nice. Room was a bit dirty bathroom toilet was running at night. Would have liked to hook up a dvd player to the tv.

Excellent service crew goes out of there way to make you feel comfortable. Clean comfortable highly recommend it

We stayed here a couple of times (lakeside and INN) and each time the staff has been professional and courteous. Thank you for an enjoyable stay and remarkable service. The rooms at the INN are spacious, the beach was clean, and the drinks are superb!There were a few roudy men, but they were quietted down. It was nice to hear them enjoy themselves as well.The staff works hard at their positions and makes sure each guest doesnt want for anything.Thank you again, we look forward to staying with you again.

Beautiful place, great beach and very clean. Only thing was that the beds arent comfortable. Everything else was great.

Went to a wedding. Everything went well and all had a great time ending with Fireworks which were great, rooms clean, staff friendly and helpful.

The one thing I do genuinely like is there tiki bar, their location, sandbar and you are able to pull your boat right up to dock that is it they have room! The rooms need serious update. We stayed on the lakeside and the rooms had a serious stench of mildew. The carpet in the room feels wet when you take off your shoes as well. The breakfast was absolutely repulsive. The milk we had was a week expired, orange was already split open and starting to rot, and the blueberry muffin was still half batter. If there are no other places open for 370 or less a night this would be my last resort. We spent over 2k just for the rooms and I was really disappointed.

For a winter getaway the pool and hot-tub were great. Good breakfast (the included continental featured several kinds of pastries, muffins, bagels, fruit, yogurt, cereal, coffee etc. Hot buffet upgrade for $7 was excellent value) Main entrance area was being renovated (Feb 2020).

Its a beautiful resort by the lake thats good for family vacation. Its a romantic place to get married as its right by Winnipesaukee lake

Beautiful beach, awesome beach bar and new BBQ area. Kitchen staff will whip you up some seriously delicious plates. Rooms are kept clean and are regularly updated. Desk staff is very friendly and extremely helpful and accommodating. Fireworks and fire pits (also up on summer weekends) available for weddings. Theres a game room, pool, jacuzzi, and sauna. The resort also offers kayak, canoe and paddle board rentals, so its impossible to not have fun on a hot summer day. Definitely worth trying out or just boating over to the beach bar if youre in the area on Lake Winnipesaukee.

I stayed at the Margate resort on the lake, the price is little high $159/night, I think it’s because of the location on the lake, the rooms are old and need some renovation. But overall the stay was ok.

Booked, then cancelled. Heads up for people who are staying at the Margate. Lake building, lake front facing rooms....the resort has permanently locked the sliding glass doors to their rooms(for safety reasons). No fresh air while Im in my room on vacation is a deal breaker for me. Might as well stick me in one of the buildings across the street if this is the case.

Be Prepared to lose $25.00 No Matter what the reason is if you have to cancel your reservation. Even if its due to Covid. Rude management when dealing with issues..doors or sliders.We have stayed here once or twice before in 5-6 years and honestly, its overated and over priced. The rooms are pretty small and outdated. They are Only motel locally thats charges your credit card when booking the reservation. Wont be coming back here again.

First the room was across the street, second you had punk kids drinking and yelling till 3am and management did nothing about it. .third the door to the room you could see right through the door frame it looks like the door wasnt installed correctly. Would not stay here again.

Not entirely sure the word resort should be included in their title. Motel style rooms - old fashioned decor & style and indoor pool isn’t attached to rooms so you still have to walk outside

What used to be a showplace is showing its age. Common areas (staircases, doors, elevators) are very dirty. The glass in the doors, the railings on the staircases, the elevators are all pretty gross. The main lakefront building needs a good cleaning and paint. The plumbing is a problem with slow drains in the sink and toilets. The waitstaff and housekeeping all pleasant, management needs some changes. It’s all about punitive rules for the guests. I didn’t see anyone go over and above for a guest. During my stay there was a conference on premises which took all the parking away from hotel guests. The location is beautiful, but the people running the place are driving it into the ground. Some, not all of the front desk staff are outride rude. We need a save The Margate campaign. Margate management get some help before you lose this place.

My husband and I have lots of aches and pain and use the pool and hot tub every once in a while. School vacation weeks are horribly busy so we avoid it at that time but its still great they allow the public to use their pool for a low fee.

Great Service and Wonderful location..

Pool was under minor construction and we were not notified until that afternoon it wouldnt be open until 8pm. But the staff were very accommodating as the situation was beyond their control.

Excellent wedding venue! Food was great, beach bar was quite crowded at times. Tough to get drinks there and apps were next to impossible. The wedding we attended was very well done

Let me preface this by saying I did not stay at the resort. I reserved a room off of a booking site last night for this coming weekend. My main concern after reading reviews was finding that the accommodations were unsatisfactory, or there was an emergency, I would be out of the cost for the nights stay due to the unreasonably strict cancelation policies I read about in reviews. I just recieved a phone call from the resort to inform me the pool was closed (I will have my 10 year old with me). I simply stated that this was our main reason for selecting this location. The woman on the phone asked if I would like to cancel, no penalties etc. All she asked is that I keep them in mind for next time, which I look forward to having the chance to do.

Staff was very pleasant and helpful. We stayed two nights and put a Do Not Disturb sign on our door the first night. After we left for the day, no one ever cleaned our room.

Behold the beauty spa and salon is wonderful! Didnt experience the hotel side of things so gace it only 4 stars - but definitly worth visiting the salon. They have so many different options available!

Nice clean spacious rooms. The switches for main lights are only near the door and you have to get to door every time you want to turn lights on. And also the thin walls between next room and ours is a big problem. Apparently, they were loud all night disturbing our peace and sleep.

Great little Hotel with an Inn side and a Waterfront side. The rooms were clean and abundantly large. They came with a refrigerator and a Keurig coffee maker with a few K-Cups provided for morning coffee. The rooms were bright and the hallways were also. The grounds and pool areas where nice for sunbathing and there were several entrances from the parking lot on the Inn side. We would definitely stay there again. Prices were very reasonable for the area.

I had a nice room on the lake. The room and facilities were a bit warn, but clean. No real complaints beyond the old rooms, sheets, beds and such. Still, it is a nice cozy place to stay.

I havent stayed there and likely never will. I had 3 rooms booked for a wedding in July 2020 that I booked a few months ago. Today, almost 8 months early, I called to cancel because the rates are high and it was a two night minimum so we decided to rent a house for the week instead. I made one reservation for three rooms and was charged a $25 cancellation fee for each room. $75 fee for a reservationist hitting a delete button 8 MONTHS OUT!!! I was told that that was explained to me when I booked them although I have no memory of it. $25 would have been bad enough since technically it was one reservation, but $75 is outrageous. As a former travel agent who booked many hotel rooms Ive never heard of being charged when cancelling this far in advance. People.....book a house instead on VRBO!

I love going here to use the pool which is reasonably priced and includes a hot tub.

Friendly reception, decent breakfast. Great location. The lakefront property is looking very worn. Hallways have tattered wall paper in spots and discolored carpets. The lower floor smells of mildew. Spotty room service

Above average resort for this area of the Lake Region. Semi-private beach area which is small and provides an insufficient number of chairs for the number if guests that stay at the resort. There is also a bar and cafe way too small to accommodate the number of guests that stay at the resort. Indoor pool and hot tub in the main building, and an outdoor pool across the street at the Inn area rooms building. The staff is mostly high school and college kids hired for the summer months who feel it necessary to push and rush payment at the cafe and the breakfast lounge; its almost criminal.... and they also do the room clean and make up so dont expect a good heavy clean; especially in the bathroom. The continental breakfast is free and very adequate but you can also upgrade to a buffet hot breakfast for another $7.95 and its well worth it!

Staff was very rude and not very welcoming.. and check-in time is much too late (4 pm!?) when charging you for the entire day. Tons of disresoectful unsupervised kids/teens in the pool and hot tub and beach areas. Many not even staying at the Resort! The Resort bar/restaurant is open to the Public making it difficult to get a table/service for Resort Guests! Our carpet was filthy and stained, and hallways smell very musty and clearly need to be updated! I cant stress enough how disappointed we were with this property. Will never return or recommend The Margate.

Nice location, central to everything, nice views, beach, docks and outdoor restaurant! We stayed at the INN building, across the street, at the outdoor pool, which was convenient.

Beautiful view! Service on outside deck seemed to be slow. My burger was fine but my husbands was under-cooked with warm fries.

Nice beach, small but nice with a beach bar. Rooms are comfortable and clean but a little out dated. Breakfast was good and the main building is nice and well kept with a fire pit, pool, hot tub and sauna.

Location was unique. Grounds and view were excellent.Customer service was good.Sort of off the beaten path. A little inconvenient, but pleasant quiet.Were very accommodating to special needs persons!!

Decent beach bar & beach. Rooms a little dated but the pool was really nice. Two things werent up to par. Our bathroom had a musty almost body odor smell that was a little unpleasant. Also for the health of your guests please do a deep clean of your ice maker. You could see slime & mold in the inside where the ice drops down.

Ive stayed at the Margate several times now for the New Hampshire Professional Photographers Conference, and I cant say enough how pleased I am with the attention to detail and graciousness in handling our multiple requests that arise throughout our stay. The rooms are clean and housekeeping is diligent, the waterfront is gorgeous, and the Mariah banquet room is a beautiful place to host our annual awards banquet, and the staff is professional, prompt and friendly. Highly recommend!

Was there recently for a wedding. Front desk staff (person in charge) was not friendly or accommodating. Other staff we encountered was very friendly. Tiki bar staff and food was excellent. Room was ok, breakfast was good. Very nice for a wedding venue but that 1 encounter with front desk person was enough for me to give only 2 stars.

After a little bit of a rough start, it wasnt until we met Ashton Cherok, who was our 3rd wedding planner, that our wedding planning and every detail became what has since been called the wedding of the century!!! Without her we dont think it would have been so wonderful. She put everything she had into our day and every detail was thought of. There are no words to express our gratitude for the amazing job she did and for making us feel at ease every step of the way. Our day was perfect. For 2 working people who had to work hard and save to pay for our wedding, we are in total agreement that it was worth every penny and we would do it again in a minute!! We would also like to recognize the amazing work and beautiful flowers done by Lakes Region Floral Studio. We were so thrilled with everything they did. Every flower arrangement and bouquet was perfect. Thank you Sue!!! And to our DJ Carlos Russin from 5 Star Entertainment!!! The mood and tone of the night was set and never stopped. Carlos is amazing at what he does and he made our guests move all night!! We cant thank you enough!!! Our wedding on September 20th was the best day of our lives without a doubt!!!!

The Margate was a wonderful stay. We did pay more for the lake view rooms, we were at ground level and we could see the lake shore about 150 feet away.

Our State Professional Photographers Association has had our Annual Conference at the Margate Resort for years. We find the staff to be friendly & helpful. Ms Caroline Snyder, the event coordinator is a pleasure to work with! We plan on having our Conference there next year too. We all love having our Conference at the Margate Resort!

Loved their beach area

This is definitely showing its age. I was not in a guest room, I was there for an event in the ballroom. When you come in through the main entrance, there is no elevator to get down to the ground floor where the ballroom is. The only way to unload equipment was down a set of stairs either from the lobby, or drive around to the back of the building and again down one set of stairs to an exterior door, then down an interior set of stairs.

Nice inside pool. Lots to do at this property. Inn across the street was not as nice as their main building. Gameroom was closed. Little disappointed as this was one of the reasons we booked it so our kids had a place to go.

The last Five years I have vacation with two other family a week in the summer. Out of the five places we have gone this was my favorite. The price is right, rooms were clean and the staff was fantastic. I believe we were there during one of there busiest weeks and they didn’t skip a beat. That combined with the beautiful lake and property made it the perfect vacation. We stayed in the rooms across the street and had a blast. A big shot out to all the people in NH you are great host and very nice to tourist who visit the area. Even thought you are a bunch of Red Socks fans. Let’s go Yankees. I will visit there again.

Beautiful place but lakeside bed were terrible. Sound proofing could be a heck of a lot better. Breakfast wasnt bad but pricey for the lack of food, worth it to explore other restaurants. Nice pool and hot tub! Bars werent open so that was a minus. Location was great though, close to everything!

Very unfriendly, its as if there doing you a favor by letting you stay there. the room was not clean. we were told there was a full breakfast when we booked the room, that was a lie. theres not enough people there during the week I guess so you only get fed on wknds. There was a bar, but he wasnt going too serve me because there was a function. this place also has more rules than when I was in the military. its like trying to get into FT. Knox trying to get into the sub- par fitness room. the smell of chlorine in the pool erea burns your nose. (Do not open your eyes in the pool). Your bathing suit cannot be wet when you enter the Sauna.

Went there for a daytime corporate meeting... its Winter so in a way it was like a scene from The Shining movie. The lake scenery was beautiful. The staff was very friendly. Due to offseason vacancy it just was a bit creepy walking around. It was easy to get lost moving around. This place must be very busy due to location in Summer months. Due to location and staff friendliness, I may look to come here next Summer. Thank you!

Bring an extension cord only a few open outlets to plug things into. The tv was small and awful pic.The pic I took with my phone made it look nice but we had to shut it off because we couldn’t see it-

We had an excellent all around experience in this hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable. The Gazebo was wonderful for food and drink and talk, And the indoor pool and hot tub were just what we needed. The only things we saw lacking were in the room and hallway of the building we were in. Paint and updates, and clean carpets are needed in the not so distant future, but overall, it was a great experience, and we will go back to the hotel again if we need to.

Good but not great place. Some aspects of the property are pretty dated now, especially the exterior and the main/front building. Their breakfast buffet is not good either, and thats saying something given that most hotels of this caliber dont offer very good breakfast buffets anyway, but theirs is particularly and consistently bad. The views of Paugus Bay are nice if you get a lakeside room though. Convenient location and reasonably priced.

Nice resort with good location and restaurants around. Rooms were clean and nice. The building across the street have some missing basic amenities, reason provided was due to safety. Not sure how that works. In other words good place to be with family and friends.

This was a one night getaway in the off-season and it was great! The indoor pool, hot tub and sauna were fantastic! The staff was super friendly and the location was very close to Gunstock and restaurants.

Gorgeous location! The service was super accommodating and friendly. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The beach bar is an awesome touch to the hotel. Food and drinks were amazing. I would come back again in a heartbeat. I didnt want to leave.

We love staying here right on the water. Walk out to the beach. They serve you right on the beach and theres a beach bar and restaurant if you want to get off the beach. Dock out in the water you can swim to. You can rent kayaks and paddleboards. We always bring floats. Great breakfast included with the room. Continental is free and only $7 for hot breakfast. We love watching the weddings. They always have a fire pit at night we buy smores ingredients at shaws across the street. Rooms are a little out dated. Small arcade. Indoor pool and indoor hot tub too.

A great resort by lake. Rooms were modern, good tvs and great showers. Food was decent and located nicely between Weirs beach and Laconia.

This may be kind of biased but I assure you its very honest. I work here doing housekeeping. Ive never been happier at a job before...everything is done right. Im super OCD and wouldnt work in l a place if they didnt clean the rooms the way it should be. I clean those rooms to my level of acceptance and wouldnt move onto the next room if it wasnt done correct.
