One of the most beautiful movie palaces you will ever walk in to, with fantastic acustics. Everyone needs to visit the Tennessee at some point, you will not be disappointed.
JUST BEAUTIFUL!!! Going to an event at the Tennessee theater was absolutely stunning. As I was going up the staircase, walking the halls, looking at the chandeliers or taking pictures in front of those articulated walls, I was trying to imagine myself back in time of 1923 when it was 1st opened, of how those people could have felt with something so beautifully made in little old Knoxville Tennessee. Its nice to have an historic landmark in our city.
Pretty building on Gay Street. Sad that I didnt get to go inside.
I ABSOLUTELY love this place - especially for concerts. We saw KANSAS there tonight and the acoustics of the room are absolutely amazing.!!! Weve seen some movies there, too. AND, while we like to get seats near the front, theres not a bad seat in the room.!!!Saw Grand Funk (Railroad) there years ago and sat in the balcony. Now, that was pretty cool - it was like having an aerial view of the concert.!!!
This place is beautiful. the staff was great. parking was easy. there are restaurants close by and bars in market square are close
Great time with great friends. Beautiful place and theres not a bad seat in the house. Frankie Valli concert was very enjoyable, he still has the voice. Theatre has been able to have a lot of big names come here. Thanks, Tennessee Theatre for all the years of entertainment.
This is an absolutely wonderfully beautiful venue. just to be in this historical place is cool enough, but to also get to see favorite artist perform there in an intimate setting is tremendous! The sound quality was great. The staff was wonderful and helpful. I would definitely go see another show there.
Awe inspiring experiences and views. Terrific Broadway caliber shows from Les Miserables to Finding Neverland. Great place for a summertime classic movie or see a Christmas classic during the holidays with Its a Wonderful Life. (Its free, but seats are first come first serve.) A full bar is available, however drinks are expensive.
This is a beautiful and iconic theatre. The venue hosts concerts, films, and live theatre performances. Stepping into the theatre is like walking into a bygone era with modern comforts, including a full bar.
So wonderfully restored. Beautiful and historic. I love to support our local cultural events in hopes of attracting more things to the scruffy city. The downtown Gay Street area is certainly a much cleaner, prettier, and safer area than it was 20 years ago. Way to go Knoxville!
Beautiful theater in the heart of downtown Knoxville! A wide range of events can be found in this venue; from the Knoxville Symphony to Broadway favorites. Truly breathtaking design brings a little extra something to every performance no matter what it is. Easy access parking are the State St Parking Garage, too.
It has been a long time since I have been here.I forgot how beautiful the art and architecture is in this building. It made me feel like I walked back in time with the vintage look.I was here for the Goo Goo Dolls concert and had a great time.
The sense of history in this building is almost overwhelming! 91 years of entertaining and artistic talent permeates every inch of the architecturally astounding structure. Just sitting and taking in the level of craftsmanship and beauty had me awestruck!
Beautiful, glamorous building in which my husband and I enjoyed a concert with the Knoxville symphony. The bar at the entrance did not allow for free cup if water, which is too bad. I was not about to pay the $3 for a bottle (which may not have been allowed in the theater, anyway). Good amount of ushers to help one get seated. Clean restrooms were a plus. The decor caught my eye in many places.
It is true what they say. Not a bad seat in the house. Staff excellent and attentative, one small downside. I could not see getting into our seats and my foot got stuck between the chairs. A little light would of helped. Back to the amazing- The theatre architecture was breathtaking, acoustic fantastic. We came from Atlanta to Knoxville. Will do it again!! Thank you for making us feel so welcome yall.
Visiting the a Tennessee Theater is like taking a step back in time to enjoy live performances the way folks did a hundred years ago. It is a beautiful venue. We are fortunate to have this lovely place here in our scruffy little city.
A great place in Knoxville to take in a show. Located close to Market Square. Lots of places nearby to get a bite. Theatre seating. Very comfortable.
Cant wait to get back!
This was my first time at the Tennessee theater and it didnt disappoint. It is absolutely beautiful inside and a great venue. Cant wait to go back!
This historical theater is magnificent! They recently restored the brightly lit sign outside, and it is a sight to behold on Gay Street, especially in the evenings! On the first Monday of every month, they host Mighty Musical Monday at noon. Its free! I went in December and had the best lunch hour there! The inside of the theater is wonderfully ornate! I cant wait to take in more shows here!
We had a blast at the Tennessee Theater. We loved the architecture and the nice and helpful staff!
Amazing venue. Building is gorgeous. Just saw Kansas there!
Super extravagant and enormous. Gold flake everywhere, sisters graduation. How annoying right, not too bad though, why its annoying was the 3000 miles in a car with my 5 member family while the car was barely capable. The teather has a lot of isles and descent seats. Beautifully constructed and fabulous environment, the only reason I kind of want to 4 star them is with 1000 people in this building they should understand airflow is vital and super important.
BEAUTIFUL!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! I love this theater! It was amazing. I saw waitress this time I have seen other things here and it was just as wonderful. The place is so beautiful, the play was ABSOLUTELY amazing! I will come back and see more.
Amazing atmosphere. Great shows.
Absolutely beautiful theater, we didn’t have the best seat but you could still see the whole stage. Easy, quick entrance, plenty of bartenders so you didn’t have to wait so long to be served! Can’t wait for another event!
From ballets to musicals to concerts to the summertime movies - wow! This place is amazing! The sound is perfect and the restoration is beautiful. I come here several times a year.
We attended a wonderful screening of the polar express. The service is fantastic and the concession prices were pleasantly lower than I expected. All in all a very good experience and we would have back.
Saw Miss Saigon yesterday. Everything was great except the sound. We were stage left orchestra near the back. There were many times I couldn’t understand the words to the songs. But when I went into the lobby, the sound was perfect. Reported this to staff, but nothing changed.Spoke to a friend who was in the balcony and she said she and others had the same issue. So, for this production on this date, sound was awful. Everything was was spectacular b
This staff is amazingly nice and patient. And even though the bathrooms can get crowded they are always clean along with the rest of the theatre
Amazing acoustics. Beautiful detail in refurbished auditorium. Very close to fine restaurants. Dont park on street. Only 2 hours allowed.
Went to see Waitress. I love it! It was such a beautiful building the prices for food were cheaper than I expected!
I attended the symphony here. This building is absolutely stunning. Every corner of it has unique features and architecture.
Wonderful tour of the entire theater lead by Jack Neely sponsored by the Knoxville History Project. I was in awe to be back stage! The history of the theater is unbelievable!
Its beautiful! We seen The Rocky Horror Picture show with the Satanic Mechanics, it was fabulous and the audience participation was a lot of fun!
Absolutely stunning! Pics do not do this place justice! The details of the decor is amazing! Go visit!!
The Broadway production of Miss Saigon was fabulous and very entertaining. From the actors, musicians and settings were outstanding. This is a very memorable experience that will be treasured.
This theatre is amazing! Its sure a beautiful old theatre and they do a great job with upkeep. Worth seeing a show just to experience this beautiful building!!
Loved the old theatre and the performance of Les Miserable was superb! If you want to know what a movie theater was like back in the day, this theater is a must. Fully restored to its former glory it is an experience not to be missed.
I am a season ticket holder at the Tennessee Theatre, and it never disappoints. The venu is beautiful. The architecture is truly amazing. The ushers and the staff in general seem to love their jobs, and the seats are comfortable.
The Tennessee Theater is truly magical. What an incredible venue. For stage performances it is also incredible, but not nearly as good for movies. The experience is great, but there is not enough sound/volume.
The Tennessee Theatre was nice & everyone that was working at the Concert Wednesday June 12th, 2019 was very sweet & friendly! The concert was Reo Speedwagon! I could say if there was another concert I wanted to see & it was at the Tennessee Theater I would go again. Reo speedwagon is 1 of my 5 bands that is my favorite. I came to the Tennessee Theatre to see Reo speedwagon from Atlanta.. Reo speedwagon is a awesome band & they rock! Oh their song keep on loving you is my favorite song & is mine and my husbands song.
Been going to the theatre for over 50 years! Loved it as a kid and still enjoying as an adult. The beauty of the place is wonderful and inspiring. Really enjoy the concerts and old movies. Great to see classic movies on the big screen again. Lets keep it going!!!
Wonderful place. Full of history. It is a gem
I was there seeing Waitress. The building is beautiful and the production was fantastic! The only thing that could have made it more enjoyable would be more comfortable seats.
Absolutely loved it, regal has an amazingly kept facility, and the historical aspects are very cool. much better than a normal theater
Every trip to the Tennessee theater is amazing. This time we saw Broadway at the theater with the amazingly funny show Something Rotten. This place is so beautiful its almost hard to believe it started its life as a movie theater.

Loved loved loved seeing Govt Mule there in such an awesome venue host. This theatre was absolutely gorgeous and had the best environment for rocking with Warren Haynes....
Absolutely stunning venue for a graduation. Comfy seating. The beautiful wood work is like going back in time. Absolutely gorgeous.
You feel like you are at a formal event. Wonderful ushers and a wet bar. Romeo and Juliet was beautiful.
We went as a family to watch the best Christmas movie ever. And the best place to see it is the Tennessee Theater. Thanks again for bringing Its a Wonderful life again.
Beautiful architecture and priceless feel of yesteryear.
Stunning historical theater, beautifully maintained. Not a bad seat in the house. Even the balcony manages to provide a close and comfortable view of the stage. Youll enjoy the elaborate architecture and gilded sculptures before the performance starts, then be drawn in by the excellent acoustics and rich stage experience.
Took my son to see Shen Yun on his spring break adventure. He loved the show! And we loved this venue.
We saw Jo Koy perform standup comedy, and it was hilarious! Also the Tennessee Theatre is beautiful!!
I highly recommend going to visit this beautiful piece of history. My sister and I took a tour after emailing the Theater. For tours the door is off of Clinch. It was informative for a short but sweet tour. You may also take an infant in a carrier on a tour. I would not recommend a stroller or smaller children go on this tour.
Saw Miss Saigon here today. What an amazing performance in a beautiful theatre! We are new to town, and this was our first event at this venue. We are hooked and will be back for other performances. Thank you Knoxville for having live performances at the Tennessee Theatre!
What a beautiful historic place. A great venue to enjoy music and concerts and theater with family and friends.
Beautiful old theater this is. All the workers were very friendly and helpful. They do check bags and scan you on the way in which is ok by me. Plenty of seats and a balcony. We went to the Family Feaud there which was a blast. We had a very nice time and will be going back for another show.
I absolve the atmosphere here. The staff has always been extremely helpful as well.
Beautiful place! Great sound.
A very historical theatre and is newly renovated to its original and former prime.
The theater has so much character. We had a great time!
Absolutely gorgeous theatre! I dont know what it looked like before the remodel but its beautiful. We came to a Yanni concert and everything was just STUNNING! Id make the trip to Tennessee again just to see the theatre.
Absolutely beautiful place. Saw Kansas in concert. Great night. Great band.
Randy Houser... November 14th, 2019
So an amazing answer at the Tennessee theater by Chris Tomlin. The theater was one of most beautifully historical theaters I have ever been in. It was truly breathtaking
Beautiful venue. Couldnt see about 1/3 OF THE STAGE. make sure you get middle seats.
The Historical Tennessee Theater is an icon of Knoxville architecture. Its timeless beauty cannot be duplicated. If you havent been since restoration, you should.
Been here for the first time. I was speechless. Great decor, beautiful architecture, amazing show. Been there for the Cirque Dreams Holidaze. Great show, loved it! We would definitely go back for another show.
Beautiful venue with shows for all ages! Oir sons school attended the KSO program for children. It was spectacular!
One of the most beautiful landmarks, in the Knoxville Tennessee area! The staff are very professional, friendly and helpful! The theater itself, is amazingly beautiful and it provides an up-close and personal place for any event!
This amazing & historic theatre is stunning and breathtaking. Ive passed by it several times driving by, but actually went in the other day for the free screening of Dracula. Amazing experience. The staff was really friendly and professional. It certainly had Old Hollywood glamour. Will be going back.
The ambience and sound quality is excellent. I have a wonderful experience every time I go there.
The classiest place of history you will find in Knoxville. The shows are incredible from any seat. So much to see at the Tennessee Theatre
Want to feel like you have been transported back to the 1920s? The Tennessee Theatre is one of the most gorgeous places I have ever attended shows at, and I dont just say that because I am a TN native. The restoration of the building (a National Historic landmark) along with the quality of shows brought in make it a quality location to check out. From the Knoxville Orchestra to Weird Al to Les Mis to the Goo Goo Dolls to the most magical viewing of Casablanca that I have ever had the joy of watching, the Tennessee Theatre brings it all.
I always love going to the Tennessee Theater be it for a concert, movie, or whatever the Theater never disappoints and if you have a chance is a must while in Knoxville. Grand Beautiful Theater and love the wurlitzer
Beautiful theatre! The staff was very friendly and helpful.
This theatre is the bomb. Gorgeous inside out. Saigon was great.
Gorgeous venue with great acoustics
What a beautiful place! Ive seen a few shows here now and I highly recommend it. Theres not a bad seat in the house. Friendly people, great location, affordable prices, what a win!! Next show Randy Houser!
An amazing theater brought back to life a few years ago. Have attended several performances there from Opera to Concerts to Movies.
Great place for seeing a Broadway production
Always a great venue to watch a show or concert! We attended the Studio Arts Spring Concert.
Amazing Theatre! It reminds me of a Faberge egg on the inside. Wonderful view from any seat and great performances. A must see if you visit Knoxville!
Saw Modest Mouse here. Amazing show, beautiful theatre! Be sure to look up once you get inside. Acoustics are amazing no matter where you sit!
I have loved seeing many shows, films, and The Nutcracker close to Christmas in this gorgeous building over the years. It’s such a lovely piece of Knoxville history and the interior of the building is simply stunning.
Beautiful old theater. Never been to a show, but Id like to. The cartoons and costumes thing they have every year is great.
This theater is absolutely gorgeous and full of history. Its well organized and security into shows is very thorough. Concessions are reasonable for a theater.
This theatre has a classic feel that is amazing to attend and feels like stepping through time into another realm.
I enjoyed my visit there. Nice staff. Amazing ballet!
I always enjoy the Tennessee Theatre! The Russian Nutcracker was fabulous!
We had concert tickets to see home free at seats Y 13 & 15 (keep in mind all odd and even seats are together therefore 13&15 are beside each other) and I thought they were great seats! You see the whole stage, the balcony doesn’t block the view of the stage, but it is three rows away from the very back. Y 13&15 is the row just behind the handicapped area so you have much more space to stretch out and not feel crowded or in someone’s way. If you don’t mind being further away from the stage, the space and the clear make these good seats. I personally do not mind being far away as long as I can see everything well. However, if you’re the type of person that doesn’t like being far from the stage this row isn’t for you.
Terrific evening with husband watching Greg Gutfeld. Beautiful theater
Absolutely beautiful theater. The show was lovely and the staff was super helpful and so nice.
Big and beautiful, full of history but a great place for show. My husband and I saw Eddie Izzard, the the interior is wonderful; clean and friendly staff. Only problem I had was the walk for the parking garage but it may have been the fact this was our first time there.
It was a beautiful night. The Theatre is beautiful, the movie was wonderful on the big screen. The Organ music was fantastic.
