Well maintained trail. From the spur that leads from the parking area, you can turn to the right and hike to the Pinnacle area, or to the left to cross into South Carolina and Kings Mountain State Park. Some nice hills, but nothing too tough.
Beautiful hiking and Revolutionary History and a Living history farm, very cool place!
Awesome trails, low population, amazing views
Great hike. Big parking lot but fills up quick. Get there early. Or go in the winter.
Great spot for a more secluded and private hike. Its a long way to the top so bring plenty of water and plan ahead but if youre into rock climbing or bouldering or a good photoshoot location this is the best place to start. Its not the easiest hike and youll have to cross the highway but its doable for teens and adults who are up for a day hike. The entire trail is over 6 miles from this access so pay attention to the trail guides at the entrance and watch the weather
It was a beautiful day for a hike and the fall colors were fantastic!!! This trail is definitely a do-over.
Great hike what a workout.
Fun hikes and great views. They have a variety of trails from beginner to strenuous/advanced.
Great trails!
We had a great time. The trail was of moderate difficulty but my 4-year-old was just fine hiking it. We hiked to the Boulder Overlook, which my kids (ages 9 to 2) loved and did not want to leave, although I just about had a heart attack. Some of the boulders were nearly large enough to need a harness and rope. I loved not having to drive very far to get away from the city and find some peace. The bathrooms at the Boulder Access Point were clean. We had a picnic there before heading off on our hike. We are excited to go back.
Great hikes and views
Peaceful and quiet!
A lot of trails for all levels, always a good physical activity for all ages
The big rocks or boulders were so huge...my son had fun climbing them...we will came back..the are restrooms and also water fountain for hoomans and their babies.
The boulders here are quite amazing for the area, with a huge variety of challenging problems some being monolithic in size. This place hasnt always been open to the public either. It has a rich history of teens from the 70s coming to the top of what they called Rocky Knob to drink beers. The ambiance is palpable on a good day with views of Charlotte and the Blue Ridge Mountains on clear days. Though this review is specifically related to my enjoyment of bouldering within the park it is also an access to the ridge trail that goes from Kings Mountain State Park all the way across the spine of mountains that are in Crowders Mountain State Park. Sure to give hikers and trail runners a good time alike.
Love this place. Tons of trials for everyone of all ages
Love this area and have hiked it in spring, summer and fall. This was my first winter hike here. Hiked from the Boulders Access point on this visit and loved the mix of wooded trails and lake side trails. Not too much elevation, but enough to get the circulation going! In general, signage and blazing is exceptionally well done. Hard to get lost. One exception was shortly before midpoint when we had to search about 10 minutes for the trail. Turned out a blazed tree has fallen, just where the trail made a turn. Even after we found the Blazer on the fallen tree, it was difficult to know which why the blaze had originally pointed. The loop trail we took Incorporated several other trails, two with trailheads that had restrooms. Though the restrooms were primitive with TP but no hand sanitizer, it was nice that they were open, even in the dead of winter. At one lakeside point there was an interesting homemade memorial to a pre-teen girl who apparently drowned at the spot several years ago. Nice that sort of memorial that is allowed by the park.
Best entrance is Boulder. Lots of parking and not crowded.
Fantastic trails! Busy on Saturdays only on some trails. Trails from easy to difficult. You can boulder and rock climb there with a permit.
Excellent spot for a day trip or an afternoon hike. Several benches and stops along the Ridgeline trail, which really breaks it up. I will return soon!
Ran ridgeline trail into SC and back towards pinnacle. The trail is in great shape!
Nice place to hike, great views
Very nice park! Love bouldering here.
Convenient lot for both bouldering and hiking. Great bouldering for Charlotte area. Guide book to come soon.
Had a great day Crowders Mt to Kings Mt and back on the Ridgeline Trail

Not crowded trail to Pinnacle is six miles
Good hiking, interesting scenery.
Nice park
Great place to hike. Moderate to difficult hikes available.
Beautiful trails well cleared and if i got any fellow herpers reading this i highly suggest this park spotted red duskey and 2 line salamander and even an eastern worm snake. PLEASE BE AWARE OF YELLOW JACKETS. If you spot some dont make any sudden movements and get stay far away from the nests i made the mistake of stepping on a nest in the ground and was visiously attacked by the swarm i didnt see any on the main trail but this one i stepped on was only about 15 yards away from the trail
Beautiful scenery. Nice peaceful walk.
Great views and boulders to climb!
