I jumped into the water to ride a gator in the sunset but he bit me on the arm and twisted me around like i was in a washing machine.

Nice 50 feet walk around plants that attract butterflies. There’s a nice bench from which to view the butterflies. We saw a light and a dark orange butterflies. Pleasant experience

Google should remove this location from the map to prevent people from going there.Entrance #1 is to the Refuge which is an office for state park rangers, nothing more.Entrance #2 is to the Waste Management which is self explanatory. There is literally nothing to see or do from the car to do with Crocodile Lake Refuge. It is a demarcation of a huge preserve, nothing more.Only place worth visiting on the road is botanical garden hike, which is not even a botanical garden, but is a failed housing development project that has a 2 mile beautiful hike.

Drove here just to discover it is closed to the public. Could walk through the butterfly exhibit but plants all looked dead and only saw one butterfly, but lots of bees. Someone was there but shut the door when the saw us.

Crocs are really rare but I do see them occasionally using my boat. Ive seen them around the nuclear power station pipe outlets on the other side of the bay more than here. Ive only seen them about 5 times in about 60 trips so they are quite rare as well. I have seen a couple of crocs that would make Steve Irwin nervous. Theres one about 14 feet long that I have run into repeatedly at the outlet pipes for the Turkey point nuclear power plant. This croc makes me feel really small in my 24 foot boat. Thank god they just slip beneath the waves and disappear every time. I rarely see kayakers here and have no idea how they would react to a kayak. Probably just go under but who knows.

Did the refuge get relocated? It was a Waste Management facility that I drove to. Bummer!
