Loved it. Silver Sands is an old Florida motel on the Atlantic. The staff are clearly working hard keep it in the best condition they can. We regret only reserving for a few nights since the weekly rates are better deal. Were hoping to go back.

Perfect location, great staff, old fashion charm and service. A rare gem in beautiful key Biscayne still holding its own. Traveling during pandemic is challenging, but this place made it easier because I picked this place because it is one story and the rooms are accessed from the parking lot like the old fashioned Florida hotels, not a lobby with elevators being shared by everyone. Less contact with other guests, perfect social distancing. The kitchenette and eat in breakfast bar is a plus as we didn’t want to eat out; there is a coffee maker, microwave, sink and small fridge. The patio table with chairs right outside the room in the courtyard is perfect for breakfast or wine in the afternoon, or work. I recommend the courtyard facing rooms. I like the vintage look as it reminds me of a simpler time, no frills, clean rooms and COLD a/c, good water pressure in the shower, plenty of pillows, large and comfortable rooms. Perfect for longer stays. The tv is small as pointed out by other people but who wants to be in the room when you have the beach right here?? Fair price.
My friends and I had a great stay, it is a bit dated, but still a great bargain, on the beach, excellent grounds, just roll out and you are on the beach. We saw turtles hatching at 3:AM that was amazing. Staff is helpful, the place is clean and a great value.
We liked the beautiful foliage and garden area. The resort has comfortable atmosphere of a 1950s or 60s. Front desk and maid service is friendly and helpful. Silver Sands has a great beachfront location and is convenient to restaurants, shops and attractions in Key Biscayne. We recommend the garden facing rooms and would stay here again..

This property is definitely older, BUT, it makes up for that by location and proximity to the beach. My husband and I stay at five star hotels but we wanted something quiet and off the beaten path. We wanted to be close to the ocean. Our main question is always cleanliness and based on other reviews we decided to try it. We couldn’t have been MORE HAPPY! It’s a small facility so within a minute or two you can walk to the sand and be on a perfect ocean view! Sunset first thing in the morning, and then lounge there all day! You can rent a chair and sit there, do nothing and be in paradise. The room is super dated BUT it is equally clean. We loved the little Kitchenette with a fridge and microwave and a few dishes and silverware. There is also a full sized coffee maker so bring your Starbucks. Maid service is every day and they are super nice and do a great job getting the sand out of the room. If you want luxury bedding and soaps go somewhere else. But if you want the absolute best location and clean you will be smiling the whole time!
The hotel is a quaint little throw back and offers a quiet escape from the hustle bustle. The grounds are well maintained and manicured, the pool is crystal clear and clean and the beach front access is awesome. There’s a little play area for the kids and a self service laundry for guests staying awhile, you will have to find a place off site to get quarters for the machines though. The rooms themselves could use some updating, the beds and linens are hit and miss for comfort, same with the appliances and equipment. We stayed as a family so had 3 rooms in total, one room had a brand new fridge the other room had one that barely stayed cool. Same with the A/C and showers, one shower dribbled out and the other flowed great. The tiled floors could definitely use a deep scrubbing. If you get a regular room around the outside perimeter, there’s really no outdoor space to use unless you sit by the pool. The courtyard rooms have assigned table patios but we wanted to all eat together so we ended up by the pool eating in the dark since there wasn’t much lighting after sunset. Overall, great hideaway for the price!

Stayed there last year for 4 days with my wife......we just loved the place, the people, and the location. Lots of fun loving Cubanos with a great atmosphere in the air.....close to everyting we wanted to do and was fun passing up that overpriced aquarium.....to go rent wave runners.....

The location has a close and convenient access to a pristine beach. Love the small retro vibe,instead of an over sized corporate chain. Having a kitchenette was an additional plus.

This motel is on the coast in one of the most exclusive areas in the country. It sits next to a 5-Star Ritz Carlton costing at least 4 times the price per night. This was a business trip as our band was playing an event at the Ritz and we needed reasonable overnight lodging. Silver Sands was just fine for this. They did not have my Orbitz confirmation when I called to verify, however the staff was helpful in getting us our room and honored the Orbitz price with no issue. This is an older motel and I would not recommend it for a week-long family vacation, but for an overnight in a fancy neighborhood, its quite acceptable. it appears that the motel is undergoing upgrades so its likely to get better over time. I would stay there again under similar circumstances.
Great beachfront hotel. Go with the gardenview or cottages for a more resort-like experience. Plenty of great and affordable food options within a short drive, 10 minute walk, or delivery. Take advantage of the kitchenette with your own drinks (no glass by the pool).
This place was awesome. Short walk to Crandon Park and restaurants. It was clean and had everything you needed. The grounds were kept really nice. It was like stepping back in time to a simple, friendly beach hotel. We couldnt have been happier with our stay. As for the negative reviews- if you are looking for something fancy and plan to sit in your room the whole time pay for the Ritz. If you want the same awesome beach and old time charm stay here! Loved it. We will be back.
Great quiet location. Rooms are extremely clean and the staff is very helpful. It is an older beach cottage style motel which I love and wish there were more of.
Im sure this was a wonder in 1956. We knew it was old so we were not surprised. It has great grounds and we were right next to the beach. Our room floor was filled with sand before we left. It needs a little TLC, but the price is really hard to beat. We were all really happy with our stay. We had no problem with the internet and parking was plentiful. There were plenty of great places to eat at near by.
The place is beautifully localed right at the beach with rooms facing the ocean.Sadly this place needs a major cleaning and refreshing of bathrooms, beds, kitchen... pretty much everything!Rusty bathtub, mold in bathroom and bedroom, kitchen cabinets and faucets falling apart.I stayed with my family the weekend after the 4th of July and in our first room we encountered a flooding situation. One of our kids used the restroom for #1, and when flushing, the water did not stop coming out of the toilet! (Room 8)We were move to the room next door... and what we found was a bag of cocaine in the kitchen cabinet, and a used condom under the bed (my daughter found it while trying to reach for her flip flops!!!!).We went to the front desk to get fresh sheets and blankets, as I was not sure if my beds were actually clean at that point.It is very sad to see places like these go down, as they have awesome potential for fun and family time... but something has to be done as with me... they have lost me and who know how many as a customer.
Spent one night there. Really nice location, private access to the beach, nice swimming pool. Overall, good amenities, but again, needs some modernisation in the rooms! I got a clean room, with a small kitchenette, very convenient as its always hot and wet, so you can store some refreshments.
Works for the location on the beach and the price....the property is dated and plain vanilla, but worth it compared with the price of other hotels in this good & pristine area

Shhhh. This place is a hidden gem. Old Florida feel. Very clean rooms w kitchenette, micro, sink, coffee and cups, silverware, etc. They also have large home like rentals for larger groups or if you want more space. Comfortable beds. Very nice courtyard, large pool with excellent ocean access. The staff is wonderful. 20 min from Miami ! Dont pay Miami prices, check them out. You really will enjoy yourself. We did.
70s style motel right on the beach and in the heart of Key Biscayne. Big pool and courtyard area. Rooms are outdated (part of the charm) and reasonably clean. Front desk staff friendly and very helpful. Prices are reasonable considering its Key Biscayne.

I have to admit, my expectations were mixed. The price was great for the location. It was like when we visited Florida when I was a child....I kept waiting to see the shuffle board matches start up. The owners / managers were friendly and it was definitely nice to be out of the hustle and bustle of one of those tall hotels. Felt super empty though so hoping they stay in business and if they do, I will stay again. So far, very pleased.
The room was OK but there was no breakfast offered. Even much less expensive motels provide something for guests in the morning.

The Silver Sands is quite quaint i.e. very out dated but my family and I have been coming here for decades so it definitely has a special with us. The beds are incredibly uncomfortable, the TVs are tiny etc. But its incredibly cheap and not busy with a laid back feel.The beach is great and I have no complaints about the pool.
This place is truly one the hidden gems! Staff was wonderful! The hotel itself is dated and retro cool. The pool is great! The iguanas are great entertainment. The ocean is right out the back door. This is NOT the Ritz - its better! This is an old school beach hotel. I hope they never change a thing!
Clean motel on the beach. Very dated (1950s look) and would have been disappointed somewhere else but thankful it was there, I would not have been able to afford another hotel nearby. It is an old old old classic Florida hotel. built in the 40s with very little improvements to the building to the ground. I will give it it is on Key Biscayne for the price if you want to experience old Florida it is similar to the old hotels and motels I used to stay in the Keys when I went fishing. since I went fishing off of Key Biscayne I was okay with everything. under no condition go there to impress anyone. if you go there youll think one thing the property is worth easily a hundred million dollars. yes I said $$$$$ 100 million dollars

I was so disappointed. I was expecting a different experience since this was my childhood summer hangout. What difference!!!!The rooms are so run down. The refrigerator didn’t work, the mattress was a rock and the smell in the room was horrible. I also woke in the middle of the night to find cockroaches. Checked out 2 days early.

This place was at a great location with a nice quartyard and pool. Right on the beach for a good price. Rooms had a kitchenette. Beds and decor were pretty basic but this was as expected for the price. I would definetly stay here again. Pro tip, get a room facing the courtyard.
My family and I LOVE this hotel! Weve been coming here for 30 years! My first visit was work my parents, then Ive brought my kids here. This is a hidden gem! A private beach, heated pool, great staff and wonderful location! It might seem selfish but I hope they never, NEVER sell this place. It is the best keep secret in Miami. Silver Sands in Key Biscayne I and my family LOVE IT!!! 10 STARS if I could give them.

It is inexpensive for the area. It was clean and in a good location and directly on the beach. Just manage expectations. It is like going back in time. Again, clean but vinyl floors and Formica countertops. I was on a fly fishing trip and I would stay there again.

If you wanted luxury and a butler by your door you should stay at theRitz Carlton.get it, got it, good...
Love how this humble gem holds its ground in the face of glittering mega-condos and high-rise glass monstrosities on either side. Quick beach access and improved pool facilities. Might be asking too much to improve the quality of the in-room coffee.
I love this place I think its so quaint the cottage has retro furniture has lovely pool area its right on the beach they even have the old phones from the 70s Cottage has a bedroom a kitchen a living room and the furniture is a little outdated but I find it enjoyable Swann security guard the desk clerk housekeeper all very very nice and accommodating refrigerator works so well if you turn it on high your food freezes so dont turn it on high LOL parking is close to the room and the grounds are very pretty this is a resort that is all about location since its right on the beach

I was on a business trip to Miami and stayed with my wife at Silver Sands from 19 November 2017 till 3 December 2017. This is a classic Florida motel, like from a 1950s film. The motel is dated and in need of refurbishment. Nevertheless, everything functions and the hotel staff are very friendly and perform their duties perfectly. The motel is clean and the location is fantastic: smack on the beach. We enjoyed our stay very much. I hope this motel doesn’t get demolished and replaced by a condo. Apart from the Ritz-Carlton, this is the last remaining hotel/motel on Key Biscayne.

Best kept secret on Key Biscayne: Old Florida - you walk out your door and onto the beach - you cant get this anywhere else and the price is reasonable. You can sit at a table outside your door, under tall palm trees, have a coffee and listen to the surf. The rooms are not updated, TV is sketchy, you need to bring an extension cord if you want to do your computer there - try to arrange that when you check in. I stayed there while traveling on business and found it very pleasant. You can walk wherever you need to on the island, grocery store, drugstore, etc. There is a small kitchenette in the room so you can save the price of a restaurant meal if you wish. My next door neighbors that week, from the UK, said it was the best kept secret in South Florida and I quite agree.

Older style resort with super friendly and helpful service, a nice heated pool, and easy access to the beach. Rooms are dated but clean and probably one of the cheapest places to stay in the area. Would definitely stay again!
Terrible stay ever had to check out at 12 midnight because some crackheads in the room next to ours were getting high, drunk, and screaming. The people at the front desk didnt do anything to kick those people out. The pool was another disaster, everyone was drunk, with bottles of beer inside the pool, they were grilling, the garbage can was full of bottles of alcohol and the pool rules stated: No alcoholic beverages, no food, etc. Everyone at the pool was wasted and they were all with their children there. I had to leave with my child in the middle of the night because she was woken up 3 times by the noise. Stay away from this place. Juan, the guy that made our reservation, messed up and when we checked in we did not have a reservation. He had made it for the same day I called, hello! So we had to settle for a room with a view of the parking lot and the crackheads next to us. Then I called the manager Carmen Sanchez and she said she was going to call me back and never did. All of the people that work there should get fired or relocate the hotel to hialeah.
Low key, old fashioned motel style accommodation. Perfectly situated in Key Biscayne. Clean and simple rooms with small kitchenette for preparing basic meals. Nothing fancy but nothing wrong either.

Staff is very professional. The room was clean and well decorated. Right on the beach in a perfectly secluded location. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic getaway.
After driving all the way out there, the beach smelled so bad, and water was turbid with seaweed and dead things. The property was nice, but couldnt stay because the smell of death was everywhere.

Clean rooms, nice pool, and right on the beach!!! If you stay in the rooms facing the pool they have individual umbrella tables and chairs for each room. 2 washers and dryers. Great place!

Basically an open air motel. Great location on the beach but the resort itself is very old. Beds were hard, decor very outdated. Room had a CRT TV with a VCR player. WiFi is available but its not free. Room came with a kitchenette that included a sink, cabinets, dishes, fridge, and microwave. Room was not clean, we found an old bag of chips in one of our kitchen cabinets.
This is an old world beach motel. I loved stepping back in time. If you are a stuck up snob, pass this by. If you are there for beach its worth a stop.
Room 104 - Lovely place right next to the beach, friendly staff, very fair prices. A bit dated rooms (crt tvs, linoleum floors etc.) But well equipped, with fridge, microwave, coffey maker, cutlery, salt and pepper and so forth. Fan in restroom quite noisy, but only on when light is on.
I have stayed here before it a wondeeful place with parking beach and pool. They have cabanas.
Quaint little old hotel surrounded by modern behemoths, lol, perfect location, very nice staff, even security watching at night, its just older, very clean, a.c. worked fine, beds were ok, for the price and location its worth it.
I am not sure if the other people who posted reviews stayed at the same hotel or were paid to lie, but the reviews (I went based on them) were a complete and utter lie! The hotel is straight out of the 50s era with no updates in the near future. First of all terrazzo floors in the rooms.... Mine had a huge crack (room 107) and was filled with a dark hydraulic cement of some sort. The tv was a 19 inch tube style that was over a decade old. The beds were also over a decade old and you could see every spring in them through the sheets. The ac is a window unit and it is also on a timer so in the middle of the night it shuts off. There are no ironing boards in the room or irons for that matter and the bathroom is the size of a cruise ships head. My sales rep came to visit me and actually made me room with him the second night of my stay(Ended up at the Marriott on Biscayne) as he felt it was unsafe at this hotel. I was of course still billed for two nights.The bottom line is if you are young and party, middle age and into seedy things, or old and on a budget then this might be right up your alley. Otherwise stay away!
Worst hotel Ive ever been to... Bad customer service... Bed bugs for sure.!! Rooms smell bad. Bed not comfortable.. VERY RACIST TOWARDS BLACKS FOR SURE !! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER... NOT KID FRIENDLY... NEVER WILL I EVER RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.!!!!

Rates were cheap so I wasn’t expecting anything nice. Air conditioner leaked water on the floor and the bathroom was very dirty. Woke up to a cockroach in the room. Complained to the manager who obviously didn’t care. Stay away!
