Great facility for folks with families! I think theyve worked out a lot of the initial Opening kinks they had first off, like any brand new facility would. My 3 year old LOVES coming here... she asks every weekend if we can go to the YMCA and the teachers in the Kids Zone are just fantastic.Mom and Dad workout upstairs (I usually do one of their fun classes - advice, show-up 5 minutes early because they do fill up), pick up our daughter and then we all usually head to the pool for some fun! We have never had an issue getting wristbands and the pool is heated. Locker rooms are a little chilly though.

Nice clean new gym with swimming area, lockers, showers, small indoor track, two full size basketball courts, several exercise studios, and a plethora of lifting & cardio equipment. Got super friendly service the moment I got there!Ps. All the brand new plumbing makes the water fountains water taste delightfully clean and fresh!

New facility that has all the equipment most would need to work out. Kid one is nice and is part of our membership. For the price this is the best for us, there are undoubtedly nicer gyms but for what we are looking for this fits the bill.

Overpriced, not well run, billing issues, too much political activism. Not a very good gym.

The new facility is alright. I was here from day one till now, and there’s no improvement. THE SHOWERS THERE IS WAY TOO COLD! Warm water comes out for 30 seconds, then the rest of the time it’s just cold! The office already heard about this issue YET they don’t even address the issue. The management here is so disrespectful, it seems like they don’t even want to work here. Their customer services is also terrible. Not all staffs are like this, but the higher ups are mainly the problem. The pool schedule is also just messed up. The staff also treats the customers like second class! I live in Kent, it takes me 5 minutes to get there, yet I’d rather go to the Sea-Tac YMCA because the staff there is so much more friendly/professional. They also address the problem right away the moment someone makes a complaint.

Membership is way too pricey. But Kent residents can enjoy free swimming on 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month, of course they dont want anyone to know that, many staff dont even know the free swim. Pool water and room temperature is kind of cold, shower is not hot enough. You need to bring your own padlock to use their lockers. When we went there, just feel like they are more into getting people to sign up and taking peoples money than helping the community. And they make it hard for people to cancel.

I mostly got a membership for myself and kids for the pool and swimming classes. They have both the lap pools and the activity pool in the same space, and the activity pool is very little, way too cold even for me. But I went with my 1 year old and had to leave within five minutes because her lips are turning blue and she was shivering. The locker area is very cold. It would be great if they turned on the heat or up the temperature of the activity pool since there are young children playing in there. Also when I tried to sign up for swimming classes, all of them were full. I had to schedule a month out and not at a convenient time.

I took my 3 year old granddaughter there today. We enjoyed the pool and she had a great time with all there water features. However we found the pool a little too cool for such shallow water and the showers were not very hot and my granddaughter and another little girl were crying because they were so cold. Im not sure we will go back because she was so cold in the pool.

Pay for 2 adults and dependent which is way more then any other gym around. Ridiculous trying to take my toddler swimming as you have to arrive 1 to 2 hours ahead to get some band to swim 50 minutes. Logically if I pay for access i think I should I be able to access it when I want? Will be canceling and getting my money back.

Great facility! They’re a little overwhelmed by the hoards of people signing up for memberships. But in a few weeks it should slow down, and be a great place for my family. We enjoy the pool today!

So far The Y has failed to provided much value for my family. We are a full price paying family making the YMCA near the top cost wise for athletic institutions and my three person family. As an organization they have their reasons for their cost sharing and I personally am fine with the concept. However the Kent YMCA has so far failed miserably to provide the services promised at the premium prices demanded. Part of the issue is that the YMCA was billed as a replacement for Kent Meridian Pool, but it is significantly more expensive and, so far, much more restrictive in usage.I am a daily swimmer but the facilty is so over booked, that I have arrive 1-2 hours before I can get in a max 50 minute lap swim (sometimes shorter). The public usage of the pool competes with the time allotted for two high school swim teams and a PRIVATE organization as well. It seems a bit inappropriate to be charging families full price when part of the demand problem is caused by the facility over booking itself. My daughter cant use the exercise equipment because she needs to take a equipment class that has limited offerings and itself books out. So far it appears it will take nearly 2 weeks for the stars to align and she will be allowed on the equipment. Really?? I get that its a new facility, so offer more classes until the back log clears.Unless they can fix theses and other similar issues, I fear the Y will not succeed because the paying families move on to more accessible options. Im very close to canceling myself. My other complaint is with the City of Kent, as the YMCA was not prepared to handle the work load from the now closed Kent Meridian pool, leaving its residents with no alternative. It really should have had some schedule overlap until the YMCA figures out how to meet demand.

This location is brand new. It has a huge gym with all of the equipment that you could imagine including stairclimbers rowing Machines treadmills free weights and the biggest benefit is being able to look down into the pool area and see your kid. That’s why I really enjoyed his gym. Most gyms will not allow you to bring your child inside, not even to sit in a safe area upfront. My daughter was able to pass the swim test and get the bracelets so that she can stay in the swim area alone or with her friends that I’ve also passed the swim test. For four people at $64 a month based on the income information they were provided They have a track that walks over the top of the smaller Gym inside, another way to watch your children . They have Kidzone for smaller and younger children where you can have your child babysat while you’re working out or swimming or whatever it is that you’re doing there they have another area you can go sit on the computer and there are spaces you can rent for parties. This location just has a ton of things for the entire family. I suggest getting a membership here it’s affordable And believe me, the staff is always watching and paying attention. Especially that good old gym attendant. She loves to inquire whether or not your child has done the fitness test so that they could sit inside the workout area.

Things right:-beautiful facility-right next to the dog parkThings wrong:-overcrowded-the swimming pool is obnoxiously loud-the hot tub is overrun with children so adults have little space-children/pre-teens are very misbehaved in the gym area and staff/parents do not seem to regulate there behavior (unsafe use of equipment from horsing around, lots of swearing, not wiping down equipment, etc.)-the technology of the machines does not work well. Ex: I’ve had issues accessing my Netflix on the treadmills or the free music is out of service

Beautiful brand new YMCA in Kent! The building, and parking lot are spacious and well designed. Staff is friendly, just a little overwhelmed due to the high foot traffic during grand opening week, which is understandable.Hopefully, we, as a community will keep this place clean, and in good shape in the years to come. Today, since I parked I found garbage... empty juice bottles in the parking lot, more trash in the lobby, and inside the showers dirty diapers. Then, several young children were using offensive language, & behavior...and their parents on their phones carefree. It is up to us to keep this place in good condition, clean, and decent...lets show pride in ownership, Lets pick up after ourselves, and teach our children to do the same...to respect private property, and to be respectful so we can coexist peacefully and enjoy the activities in this beautiful facility. (My 5 stars review was based on the facility, its ameneties, membership price, and staff.)

This is the smallest location Ive been too. I was happy either way to have something for my kids and I to do together. First time there I never got a run down on rules or where things were and was told to take a look around. Left to figure everything out on my own. I took my kids to the pool and was turned right around and was given direction on steps we had to take for my kids to swim. OK fine. No biggie.Next time we came I tried to check my 7 year old into the kid zone but he is too old during weekdays and was told to come back on the weekend. He was pretty upset but what do you do. He didnt want to join in the gym while they were coloring and doing excersises so he went with me up to the weights where my other kids were. We were approached on the equipment and told we needed to have an orientation and that my 7 year old wasnt aloud up there what so ever. Again, being redirected. Im sure there is some kind of liability with insurance and all but there is a seating area. Why couldnt he sit off in there where I can keep an eye on him while I work out. We went down stairs and registered for an orientation. The first class was two days later. We then left since there was nothing else for them to do (you only get an hour of swimming at a time). Two days later we are on our way and get caught in traffic commuting out from Maple Valley and called as a courtesy. The girl on the phone advised 10 mins late was OK but we were running 11 mins late so I needed to reschedule to another day. We were half way there. They had offered me a 6:30pm at the time of scheduling so I asked if they were able to fit us in then. She hadnt even thought to check. She advised they were full and couldnt see him at that time. I was obviously upset at this point because nothing had worked out for us each time we came through and never do I get guidance.I was transferred to the supervisor, Telly. He was using polite words with a mean tone of voice. I told him they have been very unaccomidating towards my family and couldnt see why he wasnt able to sit in at the 6:30 slot. Yes, we were running 11 mins late but I was doing a courtesy to advise the situation for them to plan accordingly. He answered that those appts are for people that come on time. He kept over enunciating that the appts they sched are for people that are on time. Then I mentioned how my 7 year old isnt able to enjoy the facility because hes at an in-between age for their areas. He asked why he didnt go to the gym and when I explained he wasnt interested in their activities he kind of mocked me back saying, ooooh, he didnt want to excersises. Right.... He is 7 and isnt this supposed to be a family friendly environment? Isnt that why I joined back in April as a charter member and pay $144 a month? For us to do things together like excersises?I asked for his name one more time and he answer, Telly... TELLY, TELLY, TELLY. Supervisor. Of the YMCA. In Kent.. Again with obvious irritation in his voice that he is having to deal with me. This place is ran by a bunch of kids. Im so so disappointed in a place I was so pumped up for. I will be advising all of my community of my experience.

It doesn’t mater when it is open house so need to be open everything if not than what is the reason paying money in every fricking month. I need to cancel . Coz I have my own time for going gym and they said oh today they have a a swim class swim meeting who cares we pay money LA fitness didn’t say that

The recreational swimming time is very short they limit you only one hour, and the life guards are very strict unnecessarily, they fail kids on swimming test for little thing, and they force them to ware life jacket, I pay a lot of money for my kids to use the facility, and they don’t let them to swim in the small pool to improve there skill, I would understand if it was the Lap pool if they are strict also if they are strict in little kids and the kids that can’t swim at all, but they are expecting them to be professional swimmers, i was very excited about this YMCA to be open In Kent community but now I am so disappointed, this is my second day going this YMCA me also my kids are not happy about this YMCA
