Enjoyed reliving my youth with the guides at this museum. Wish they had more space. Lots of detailed information and interesting stories. I’m seriously considering joining. Want to give back to a sport I enjoyed so much.

This place is fantastic even if youre clueless when it comes to hydroplanes. We got a tour from Park who made it fun for me and a three-year-old. They have a program for kids that allows them to build their own watercraft. The owner also does great community outreach in the schools to show kids that what theyre learning is applicable to real life. Check them out for fun events as well throughout the year!

We are in Seattle for the American Powerboat Association annual meeting. They had a dinner for all of us. It was absolutely amazing!!!! I had such wonderful time seeing all the boats, memorabilia, etc. If you love boats, especially racing boats you will love seeing these huge hydroplanes up close. We will be back for a visit. They also have a cute little gift shop of t-shirts and memorabilia.

As a working museum, all the volunteers are working to restore and race all the boats there. They are incredibly knowledgeable and love to share that info to anyone and everyone. Small size for 10 dollars, but the knowledge that you could gain from asking about anything is well worth it.

Visited recently. I knew that this was a working museum but it is too small to offer visitor viewing and worker space simultaneously. Many of the boats you can barely get near because of all the workers equipment and tools. There are also only 6-8 unlimited hydroplanes on display.

If you are at all interested in Hydroplanes, you must visit. This place is amazing. It is packed with antique race boats and memorabilia, and all the race boats in the place have been restored to race ready condition. In face, they pull some of the vintage unlimited boats over to Chelan every fall for an on-the-water exhibition called Mahogany and Merlot. I recommend it.

If you have a love for fast anything, you need to fall in love with hydroplanes. If youre kind of a Johnny Come Lately because boats have been racing locally since the 40s and I wasnt born until the 70s, you must stop in. These guys know their history, boats on display and tons to see and learn.

I have long wanted to visit this museum, and had an opportunity to visit. Very nice display. A little crowded, what with all the big hydros. I expected a bigger building, but I understand they have limited resources. I sincerely hope they continue to grow, because it is a unique experience.

I cant say I knew much about hydroplanes before going to this museum. But, when my friend and I went, for the low cost of $10 per person, we got an almost two hour long guided tour of all the boats in the museum with lots of great stories and first person accounts of the history behind all of them from the curator. It was really awesome!

One-of-a-kind collection of some of the fastest watercraft ever built. If youre not interested in racing or motorsports or anything, then this may not be of interest, but if you are, put this on your bucket list for sure. Mostly volunteers keep this place going, and they got a lot of heart.

These are folks who really love the sport and continue to actively participate in keeping these historic craft on the water rather than as non-functioning relics.

Well off the beaten path, hydroplane Museum offers a great slice of local history with regards to the annual hydroplane races at Seafair Festival. Resembling a workshop in some areas comma there are a great amount of artifacts that you would otherwise not find elsewhere including full-size hydroplane, uniforms, newspaper clippings, and great parts of personal collections

Dropped by here on a Tuesday night expecting to spend about an hour looking at some old Seafair memorabilia. I could not have been more wrong. We walked in around 6pm to find about a dozen volunteers eating dinner after a full day of dedicating their time and energy to keeping the museum up and running. Nonetheless, two immediately dropped their forks and welcomed us with open arms. They guided us around the museum, explaining the history and technical aspects of racing hydroplanes with visible passion and pride. We were also surprised to learn that many of the volunteers have experience not only in building and maintaining, but also driving these boats. The treatment we received from the moment we walked in can only be described as VIP.The museum itself blew me away too - rather than a few dusty pictures and medals, they had at least eight antique and modern hydroplanes inside the building, including several that can (and do) run to this day. We were there a week before Seafair 2016 and sat in one of the two hydroplanes that made an appearance on the water for the Antique Hydroplanes segment of the festival.Overall, the volunteers went above and beyond, and it was damn cool to both see and touch these incredible boats that Ive only ever seen from afar!
