Its so nice to have such a park nearby! Family friendly. Not a ton of distance or elevation bht theres a mix of easy trails and harder trails. You can take a trail down to the water or over to some of the other nearby parks. Theres also some picnic areas and a pretty good playground. Good amount of parking (bring your discovery pass!)

The old seminary was under renovations when I visited, but it didnt change that this is a really lovely gem with nice and clean facilities and wonderful trails. Highly recommend!

Nice place for a socially distant outdoor time with family. Short easy hike for families as well. Good for little kids as well.

The park has lots of space. Multiple hikes going down to the beach that are safe for kids. Wooden playground structure right off the parking lot. I love going here!

Several fairly steep trails that lead to a small beach on Lake Washington. There were some smaller kids that made it down to the beach, but I would guess they had to be carried at least part of the way.There are some very beautiful scenes in these woods that photos don’t do justice. A ton of native plants lined the paths and there were a lot of birds chirping, which added to the ambience.A pair of mature bald eagles and their baby were near the water. The parents flying overhead and the fledgling perched in a nearby tree.It had rained within the last few days, so there were some spots that were a little slick, but I walked the trail in flip flops and was able to stay upright.

Great park! They have a bunch of different hiking trails, some go down to the water. A few fields for the kids to play in. Great to bring your dog with you. You need a discovery pass to go here otherwise you will need to pay for the day. They are converting an old seminary into a lodge so that will be a cool place to go when completed. Looking forward to going back and checking out some of the different trails.

This playground is as awesome as it looked in the pictures. The parking was a little tight, but we managed. There is also a good trail for bikes and skates.

Great local park for light hikes and a chance to hang out on Lake Washington. The trails are well maintained and popular. The small beach can be accessed via shorter or longer hikes. Open field for activities. Currently the playground is closed but otherwise it is very nice. The historic building is currently under construction with plans for a hotel and other amenities.

I have been to this park twice and it has been a wonderful experience. There is waterfront to enjoy, trails to undertake and beautiful views to be enjoyed. Even if you dont want to take the trails to the waterfront, there is a park you can enjoy with lots of greenery around and place for kids to enjoy as well.

This is a great state park with lovely hiking trails. The beach that you can hike into is beautiful- a lovely picnic spot! You need a discovery pass or you have to pay for parking.

This park has several loops for a quick urban hike. After the end of loop there are few spots where you can sit close to water and may enter into lake if you wish.

A very popular place to take the family. I think it does well for couples and families with children under 10 yo.

First time here. Not crowded in the areas shown in the picture. Nice downhill hike down to the lake.Very busy at the lake with limited space for swimming and keeping social distance. Hated hiking back up from the lake due to being out of shape trying to hike back up it.

Make sure you bring boots if it recently rained. Otherwise great hike on a nice summer or winter day. The location itself is wonderful, looking forward to visiting once construction is done with. Closes at dusk.

This place is close to Kirkland and has about 9 different trails with beginner, medium and difficult hiking levels. I particularly like the water front trail. Get a discover pass so you get free parking for a year at any state park. They have few days off a year when you can visit without discover pass. They have kids play area and quite a few restrooms spread across. If you hike regularly, you will like this place!

Definitely an ADVENTURE. The trail is beautiful, peaceful, and perfect for the whole family including ! We didn’t even know there would be water at the end of the trail, so it was a nice rewarding for us all. The way back up was a bit hard for me (keep in mind I’m not in the best of shape and I’m prego so that all adds to the reason), but it was so rewarding to defeat my struggles! I definitely will be going back to conquer it again.

Wide open grassy areas to run and play in at the top of the hill all around the historic seminary building, tons of picnic tables, and a really cool wooden fort play area for the kids to explore. There are also all kinds of short trails (about half a mile give or take) that lead down to the Lake Washington shore. Some of the trails are steeper and more difficult than the others, so make sure you know which one youre taking before committing. You will need a Discover Pass or youll have to pay $10 to park for the day.

This a great park to visit. Several trails each marked with distance and difficulty levels so you pick whats best for you. Walk down to Lake Washington. Also has a nice playground for the kids to enjoy one side for the bigger kids the other for the little ones. There is a grotto that make a nice wedding venue as well.

Great local, easy to get to, nice little trail system leading down to a beach area on Lake WA.

From what I can tell so far, spacious, historic-looking seminary, off the beaten path, high elevation / interesting territory, also proximate though to Lake Washington. Will be back pronto to explore trails.

Very clean and nice park! You can hike, go swim in the lake, or have a picnic!! I highly recommend it!

Nice hike to the lake. We went down to the lake via the grotto trail and hiked up along the seminary trail. Round trip is around one mile. We went on a Saturday evening around 5 PM and it wasn’t very crowded. Its a good place to swim and have a nice picnic.

Gorgeous easy hike with an awesome playground by the parking lot as a rewards if you hike with kids.

The best darn kids playground around.

We came on a Sunday at 8:30am and the parking lot was only 10% full. When we left at 11:30am it was about 90% full with spots still open. There are 3 parking lot areas. The main lot, the lower level gravel parking and a more hidden loop around parking area closer to the trails that lead you to lake Washington. Was a nice morning walk with some incline.

As you enter the park you will get to gaze upon a beautiful tree arch entrance that gently touches the sky allowing the sun to shine through. Throughout the park are several trails, one leading up to a lake, creek, softball field and much more. Surrounding the park are several places to park and a near by restaurant and small shops. Downside to the park you can still hear the noise and construction from the surrounding city.

Great park super nice trails you can choose between the hard or easy trails which is nice and the lake always is amazing to get to at the end.

Nice trails and open areas. There are many trails with different levels of difficulties. We went down the Seminary trail which is wide enough for bicycles as well. Climbed back up from the North trail. I would say both trails were easy to moderate. There were no points where you have to use extra skill or energy to climb. But it wasnt all flat either and had a gradual slope throughout.

Trails are sparsely populated with small changes in elevation, which are good for young hikers.

Foggy but scenic. Also packed.

Hiking and mountain biking close to home. Its a great place to have and its not too crowded either.

Big park with lots of options for picnic, hiking and swimming. This place is almost never too crowded although sometimes it can be a little busy. Great quiet park to relax.

I love this park. There are plenty of trails from flat/easy to steep/difficult. Ive seen deer, barred owls, pileated woodpeckers, coyotes and more! You could even do a super hike by taking trails through three adjacent parks: St Edward (a state park), Big Finn Hill (a county park) and O O Denny (a city park). In the summer, theres a fun, free concert series. Apart from these concerts and several other free days, youll need a Discover pass to visit.

Beautiful grounds to stroll, picknick, party, hike and even splash in water. Easy plentiful parking.

Great place for a short hike to the lake. Took my kids and their friends down for swimming and a picnic many many times during the summer. The forest canopy keeps the direct sun off of us during the trek down...and back up! This park is a 316 acre gem! There will be violent revolution if they ever give this away to developers.

Large area for hiking, lots of small spots by the water and a restroom at the main building. All in all a good place for summer, but dont forget your Adventure Pass!

Checked this place last weekend, found the playground reopened. most of kids were on mask and following policy.

The trails seemed well maintained, theres a beautiful beach area and nice wooden castle playground for kids. There are many field areas for picnics. I went down a few of the trails, with beach access in around 0.5 mile. I saw a lot of younger children and older adults by the beach.

Cute little park, good trails for beginners (not overly easy), and the view at the water is nice.

Nice State Park with a moderately steep (but doable) .6 mile forested hike down to the lake.

Lots of construction for the new hotel and restaurants going in, but still plenty of great walking and beautiful trails to enjoy. Great place for a bike ride, picnic or just laying in the sun (when shes out). This place is going to be changing a lot over the next few years. Enjoy it while it is the way it is!

Great as always, though I am saddened by the new commercial construction now happening at the center of it.

Network of trails is a bit confusing and the beach is small, but it offers some great mature forested area within a short drive of North Seattle

Trails and childrens play equipment. Beautiful views with lots of history. Tall tress and beaches. you can play in the water although its about a half mile down to the water.

Its a beautiful park and the hikes on the trails are amazing, but theres a rebuild happening on the seminary which means theres a lot of fencing around the upper area making it hard to say some of the beauty. Its supposed to be done in spring oh, so 3 4 months or now it should be restored to its natural beauty :-)

It took me two visits before I could find the grotto. Sad. I bet there was a lot of naughty behavior in that grotto when the grounds were a school.

Spent three hours here just reading a book and enjoying a sandwich. There are plenty of folks to make you feel like you are in a park but not so many that you can’t find small areas to hide into for some quiet thought. I’ll be back as the weather warms up for running.

Really enjoyed a little January sunshine at the park. Trails were muddy due to the recent rain but still able to get thru. This park has a lot of potential due to its location and views of the lake. The parking was plentiful on the weekend day that we visited, but its pay or use the discovery pass. Restrooms were clean and easily accessible. Will go back again.

What a find!! I was searching goole State parks around me and came upon this beauty!!We went a massive hike!! My dad who is 72 survived this strenuous hike!! But it was soooo worth it! There are different oaths to hike, starting from easy to difficult, unbeknownst to us we took the difficult one. Lol! It was amazing though. The views and vegetation were breathtaking!! Then you end up on Washington lake!! I little beach section to dip in for a refresher and then head back up ! There were 2 picnic tables at the lake, but you need to get there early to secure them.I highly recommend this gem!!! Ohhh and the kids playground is AWESOME!!! Its like a wooden fortress straight out from a Story Book! Loved it!

Small beach spots and friendly people, make this public little hike a winner. Most dogs are on lease with the occasional woof wonderer. Easier trail good for kids and older adults, just keep your eyes on the random root sections. No bikes or horses allowed, unless its actually a horsed sized doggo... cheers!

Pretty awesome place to hike and see Lake Washington. They also have a good size well kept all ages park that kids love.

Visited both for hikes/walks and mountain biking. None of the trails are too challenging and the terrain is pretty mellow. None of the trails are too long and you can put together a quick 2-3 mile post work outing.It is a good place for night rides along with neighboring Big Finn Hill Park.That being said its a beautiful park right on Lake Washington with some interesting history of previously being a seminary.

Best park Ive been to in Seattle. Bathrooms are clean. Trails are fun and varied in length and skill level. A couple different trails end up at a little beach area. Theres plenty of tables to cook at. Lots of shaded parking all over. Just watch your step along the trails because slugs are trying to cross.

Great playground at the top, mountain biking trails, hike down through rainforest like gullies to a beach, walk along the lake. They added composting toilets a couple years ago at the main beach picnic area on the lake.

Nature trails, a huge playground, great fields, ample parking. Its a great park, dont forget though, you need either a discovery pass or $10 cash for the day fee! There are several places in the woods around the park where you can find wild berries and mushrooms. My kids love to explore the forest there. You can also walk all the way down to some small beaches on Lake Washington!

Really nice hiking and walking area. Very forested. Lots of mountain bikers as well. This is probably going to be one of my daily hikes whenever Im up around here. I felt very centered and saw plenty of trails to explore.Wear good hiking/walking shoes. My feet kind of took a beating because Im not too used to the landscape. But, was still a blast.

The best playground fort/castle. The teachings love it and you can walk them down you the grotto to really wear them out.

Such amazing park!For parking you will need a Discover Pass or you can also pay for the day. This park equipped with automated pay station where you can purchase one-day (10$) and annual Discover (30$) Passes upon arriving at the park.They have a huge children’s playground, lots of picnic tables.There are many routes you can take. For direct hike to the Lake Washington, find the Perimeter/Seminary trailhead to the west of the seminary building. The trail pretty narrow with some wet/muddy patches, but it’s relatively flat, which makes it easy to appreciate the views.Little bit of history: the seminary was completed in 1931 and named for Edward the Confessor, king of England in the 11th Century. The seminary closed in 1977, and the Archdiocese sold 316 acres to the state of Washington for use as a park.

I have gone to this park many times and even had races here for my school. This is a spacious open park with many surrounding foliage. There are many trails in the park going down and to the water along with many mountain biking trails. This is a very nice park

Beautiful trees & property but disappointing because it is a long hike to the water.

Saint Edwards has one of the top three playgrounds weve visited in the area. It has a great northwest feel and is a mini amusement park for the kids.There is a large section of grassy fields for playing sports, flying kites, etc and plenty of picnic benches around. They have a decent soccer field. The hiking is also very impressive. Deep thick forests that make you forget you are in the city and a good section of Lake Washington shoreline. The trails have something for everyone, ranging from nice wide paths to small, steep ones that have knotted roots for stair steps. Theyve done a good job of mapping and signage as well so you dont end up on something more steep than you wanted. Beware though - this year they started requiring a state park parking permit.

This is a pretty nice park. It has a good amount of trails for walking and a large field for baseball or soccer. It also has a pretty large playground that I suspect would be great for children. My sources say its pretty great for adults too. There is also an old school on the premises that is currently being remodeled as some sort of spa and event space. Sounds pretty interesting.
