Interesting part of US history and the Oregon Trail. This is a State Park but really should be a National Park or US site. Museum was small but had many artifacts to view. The upkeep seems a little lacking and my understanding from other posts is possible budget cuts within the state of Nebraska May be the cause. Great afternoon for a walk around the grounds. Be sure to watch the movie inside the welcome center as it provides Perry information before walking the grounds. I would pay extra for a guided tour to understand what we were viewing. Not much information available as you walk, no map with information either.

Pretty lame once you leave to poorly (if at all) curated museum.

This site was of huge importance in the settlement of the American West but obviously not so much in the eyes of your parks department. The giant art spanning the freeway was amazing, but the actual site (information center and blacksmith building) left a lot to be desired.

Compared to similar historical sites there is not much here. There is a small museum, an informative video along with a blacksmith shop and a bare bones wooden fort. The history of this place is very relevant to multiple topics and for me was essential. The thing that rubbed me raw is that Nebraska charged me 8 dollars for a permit for the state park and 4 dollars for the museum. I gladly gave the museum their money but the permit fee is obnoxious for parking in the lot for just an hour.

Great historical park to visit while camping are the State Recreation Area nearby. Enjoy the rustic atmosphere and experience pioneer life while you tour the fort. My kids loved the armory, getting to see the various weapons that were on display. The sod house blacksmith shop is cooler than the outdoors and provides a little relief from the heat during hot days.

The 6 men volunteer Artillery Crew was dressed in 1850 period uniform and performed the firing of the Cannons with military precision. In particular the explanation of the live Cannon battery firing reenactment and educational background speech by Paul was outstanding. These men and there families are to be commended for volunteering there time and expertise on this part of Nebraska History.Thank You for your Patriotism and dedication.M Schellhorn. The lady at the front desk was super nice and even took a picture for us, but the park itself was just kind of underwhelming. The museum is only one room, yet you have to pay an $8 parking fee on top of $2 admission. Almost all of the buildings are completely gone and are just marked out foundations in the grass. If it hadnt been so expensive, it would have been kind of cute. But its really just not worth the price.

If youre traveling in an RV this is a great place to camp around many small lakes. And you can also learn about the history of the fort within a couple of miles of the campground. Staff were very helpful the campground was very clean. And one more nice feature if you have children the campground has bicycles to borrow to ride around the camp which is very large. $23 for primitive no hookups, 33 for electric + 38 for Water and Electric, and oh did I mention its a beautiful Campground surrounded by Nature and fishing is available in many of the ponds

Very nice spot with great fishing and kind people. Caught some bass, catfish and blue gill. Camping is good but mosquito population is absolutely off the charts lately even with constant bug spray we were eaten alive! Excellent swimming very clean water but the bluegill are brave there and were nibbling at our legs and suits. Turtles were a pest while we were fishing.

I wouldnt even give this one star because we didnt even see it. We really wanted to, but we were just traveling through. We just wanted to walk about for about 15 min. They wanted to charge us $8 just to park and then another $2 each admission. Thats just crazy! Its not like we were going to spend the day there.

Great park, well taken care of! New & exciting things are in the works for them. They are refurbishing some of the wagon wheels, have plans for carving soldiers into some of the dead trees and want to expand the visitors center. They may have a hand carved carousel on grounds in 2019!

I like history. The park is nicely kept. Kind of interesting. But if you are from out of state, it will cost you $10 to see a reconstructed stockade and a blacksmith shop from a fort that was active for about 2 decades in the middle of the 19th century. Anyone who has visited state parks in other states expects to pay something, but $10 for this seems over the top. In fairness, I was given a ticket that would get me into any other NE state park that day for nothing more. Still, Niagara Falls does not cost $10.

This park is so nice and quiet. Nice camp area, multiple little ponds, walkways, very clean. We found it accidentally and I hate to rate it....I want to keep it all to myself. This has a viewing site where the sand hill cranes come in. We paid $20 to camp and $7 for the day pass. A lot of walking trails. This is our 2nd time here. There is fishing too.

Packed in tight! the first site we ever refused and kept on driving! barely enough room to drive down the narrow road between trucks/rvs. our site was over taken by a shady group, that had already taken our sites picnic bench, had 5 cars parked in their site and ours and defiantly a pitbull mix dog (one of 4 dogs). we went back to the front check-in, asked for help. the two KIDS working the front shrugged and told us to talk to the camp ground host. uh, no thank you.

The campground is very nice, but the staff is very unprofessional! Was told by the staff to go find a spot and then come back to pay once settled in. SO... When I found a spot I dropped off some of my belongings and kids/dog. When I returned after filling up with water the staff showed up and told us they were kicking us out of our spot because someone didnt get their reserved spot at Windmill state park. Why that was my problem I dont know, but now they have two upset visitors rather then one! So much for first come first serve policy! Nice job staff!!
