A treasure in the Heartland. A must see to learn and appreciate our nations fire service and EMS history. The community has come together to build a top notch museum that is well worth the admission fee!!! Great for all ages

Great stop to take. It was fun for kids too. They have a play table and dress up clothes to let the kids pretend to be fire fighters.

There are lots of things to see at Kearney Fire and Rescue training grounds / Firefighter museum. These are some pictures from an event they hosted a couple weeks ago. They were all real friendly amd quite knowledgeable. I think anyone with some time to spare would enjoy stopping off and visiting here.

Lady who was working was friendly but seemed board. Had lots of great history and really is fascinating. If you love firefighting, have someone who is a first responder, or just interested I would recommend. Their are a few interactive experiences which is good if you have little ones with you. Make sure you check out the back area for the memorial and the river.

Dont miss this gem of Nebraskas history. It is slightly hidden by the river bridge museum, but the Firefighters Museum is a worthwhile stop to learn about the history of fire fighting and commemorate those that have fallen in the line of duty.

This was such a hidden gem. My Mom and I stopped by, upon first sight I thought that it was just a small building. The gentleman from the Lexington Fire Department, was so informative about the equipment and gave us a great history lesson. This museum is a must see. The curator has a wealth of knowledge, he is a firefighter in Lexington, is very knowledgeable. Dont let the unassuming outside of the building prevent from stopping!!

Debbie was awesome, we got there when its was ready to close, she let use in and told us to take as long as we wanted to be there, she even came and walked around with us part of the time and told us about the history of some of the donation of items to the museum, very pleasant experience thanks to DebbieThe museum brought back a lot of memories for me as I was a firefighter for several years, thanks for everything that is done to honor these heroes

Was a nice museum, my kids enjoyed visiting it. They especially enjoyed the free kids firefighter hats, and getting to dress up as a firefighter in the toy wood fire truck. They have many different types of historical fire trucks in the museum, and we got to point out the types of fire trucks to the kids that Grandpa used to be on when he was a firefighter. This museum is also in a convenient location next to the Archway monument. Both a great stop to get out of our car for a couple of hours on our way down the Interstate.
