A fun place to bring the kids. They do a decent job of trying to socially distance, and enforce the mask policy. They also have hand sanitizer stations readily available.Better activities for slightly older kids, 4+5 and up. The hall of super heroes was great. A few interactive exhibits, as well as animals and the huge planetarium. No food options as the cafeteria is closed, but there is a shake shack truck outside.Overall a fun afternoon for the kids. If you plan it right and try to avoid the crowd.

Nice place for kids to develop their interest in science and wildlife....so plan a trip with your kids and definitely go there and adults can remember there childhood days... COVid arrangement is good as mask is mandatory....do carry some food stuff with you...also visit liberty state park also which is nearby to the science center...one thing they can improve is repetition of the activities...but overall it is good place for children

Just came back from liberty science center with my 2 year old. I hadn’t been here since I was a kid and I was really excited to come but we will not be going back. Countless times we were approached by employees telling me that my kid’s mask was falling below his nose. From the time we entered til the time we left. Really? He’s 2. As my kid is having a meltdown about the mask being on at all you’re gonna come and tell me it needs to be above his nose? Absolutely ridiculous expectations they have of kids at this place. Toddlers are not adults and do not have the same brain function or reasoning capabilities as adults. As a science center you should know this. Have some compassion for parents that are trying their best while their toddler is having a meltdown.

We had a perfect visit on Halloween! We went early and had a fabulous time. The museum was very clean and the staff kept cleaning all areas and stations frequently. They had hidden white pumpkins throughout the museum, my nephews were great at spotting them. The DC Superhero exhibit and Storyland kept my nephews entertained for a long time. Then as we were leaving, we received goodie bags and was able to go pumpkin picking and keep as many pumpkins we liked. That was such a great surprise! So glad we became members cause we are definitely coming back!

There are plenty of very interesting exhibits for every age. Many thanks to Ann who signed me up for a membership over the phone. She was very friendly and answered all of my questions before I joined. The entire staff including Ann, Yogesh, Rose and Tangi personally assisted me with check-in when I arrived and treated me like a VIP! Highly recommended. One of the best science museums in the country. Expansive, interactive, and well maintained. Exhibits are in good working order and clean. Overpriced and many things closed due to covid. We paid $70 for 2 adults and 1 child. 50% of the things were closed which they dont say on their website. Liberty Science Center used to be so great and there was barely anything to do. The rubrik cube they advertise so much for cost extra. We were very disappointed that they are charging full price for barely anything to do, I do not recommend taking over active children or any kids under 5. The picture I attached were signs like that everywhere. The spider web maze outside they advertise for was closed, so was the touch tunnel and the entire section were you used to be able to walk across high steel beams. I recommend waiting till the pandemic is over if they are charging full price.

Was at LSC this past weekend. It was so relieving to see that they were enforcing their covid rules. Some early teens were in the planetarium with mask off their nose and attendant addressed them directly to have mask fully on. This was an advanced spending of time for the whole family. The center has different activities and exhibitions for all ages, particularly we were interested in things for toddlers and skyscraper exhibition for adults. The division with animals was marvelous too. We had fun dancing in front of motion-capture skeleton, performing high-tech surgery, learning about aerodynamics, hearing and sight, playing with blocks and theater of shadows. The only thing that bothered is that we had a long way home and wanted to have some snack before take off, but the cafeteria was closed hour before the center was closing, we couldnt even buy at least water and didnt see any water fountains in the hallways.

**NOTE: COVID-Climate review. Caveat that we pre-pandemic we truly loved this museum- and have missed it so much. If you’re the same- I would strongly recommend waiting until museums find creative solutions to keep families engaged while being restricted from touching anything. If you have a membership and want to kill an hour or two- it’s slightly justifiable. Otherwise- it’s just really hard to experience (and pay for!) such a gem when about 75%+ of what you love about it is closed, untouchable or modified beyond the point of enjoyment. Heartbreaking. Capacity is comfortably reduced to 25% and tons and tons of cleaning and hand sanitizer. Lots and lots of mask police. But if you have super detail-oriented kiddos with great memories (of what it used to be) you will leave pretty disappointed. We went because our son wanted to experience the Angry Birds exhibit one last time before officially closing (Sept 20) - but we were in and out in less than an hour and a half. The ticket price was exactly the same and there was truthfully nothing to do. Happy to have invested in supporting the arts and sciences - especially if it helps in these institutions returning back better than ever- but we’ll hold out in revisiting again for when we hear of better experiences.

I was here years ago with the younger kids in the family. This visit refreshed my memory that this is a great place to bring the kids. There are plenty of museums in DC but the kids cannot touch the exhibits. Here the kids can engage in activities while learning. The kids are happy so of course it is five star. The food inside is not too bad.For a family with young children, it is worth it to purchase the family membership. It offers reciprocal admission to participating ASTC Passport Program institutions. The Liberty Science Center is one of the most ridiculously underrated places Ive been to during my time on the east coast. While this might very much seem like a place that youd organize day trips for toddlers, I took a leap of faith and organized a birthday surprise for my partner that started from this place and we ended up having a wonderful time. The tickets on entry might seem a tad too expensive (~40 something) but believe me that its completely worth it. The place is divided into multiple floors so lets start from the top. There is an aquarium on the last floor and its remarkable how well it has been maintained. I was thoroughly impressed to see an aquarium of such scale to be located within a science centre. The other floors are filled with interesting technical exhibits and if youre a geek at heart then youre surely going to love it every bit.Id highly highly recommend paying a visit to the Dome Theatre [irrespective of the show thats currently playing]. The audio visual experience is absolutely stunning and given the smart duration of a show [~45 minutes], its unlikely that youll be bored. Also, theres a cute little cafe which serves pizzas and other essentials and a wonderful gift shop on the ground floor that deserves a stop-over as well.Certainly a place to cherish and visit once in a while for folks belonging to all ages.

Not much for adults though, but for kids its fun.Great place to take your kids on “Play & Learn” day. I went there on Sunday and it was free by Bank of America. We saved $50. They have plenty of shows in the different auditorium. You can take the tickets ( comes separately) and enjoy the show. most of the shows are kids driven. And of course, there is Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium on the 2nd floor which is said to be the largest planetarium in the western hemisphere. There are 4 levels and each level offers interesting exhibits. Exhibits are definitely kid-friendly and most of everything is hands-on experiments. Though I did not do it but saw few kids had a blast trying to dig up the soil and picking objects from the crane thing. The hurricane room and walking the planks also looked like fun for adults. Infinity climber ( I wish I could have gone inside) is definitely a most popular attraction for kids. Infinity chamber is a sort of modern jungle gym extended into the atrium 20 or 30 feet into the air from the second floor.Eat or Be Eaten section – I liked cotton-top tamarins monkeys in it. I never saw this type of monkey. You can see Jersey Viper – Jungle Python-green snake with other animals and insects which included a green poisonous frog, Piranha, Lizard, turtles and many more.Bees to Bots section gives you info about Bees and their facts. You can even see robots bees.Skyscraper section gives you info about high rise building built so far in the world and their facts. Nice exhibit.I liked the Dino dig section. Though it was for kids I still dig some skeletons. Its covered with sand and you have to dig it to find skeletons. They give you a brush for it and its free. There are many more sections, can’t describe everything.Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium – we watched a show “ wonders of the night sky”. Personally, I did not like it very much. I have better experience in Kolkata’s Planetarium. They have a great view of New York skyline at 3rd level. Definitely, recommend this place if you have young children.Parking – you can either park at their parking place ( $7 & 10) or you can park at Light railroad parking which is just across the road and as it was Sunday so its free.

Liberty Science Center is an obviously great place to take a child, middle school or freshman high school student. There are lots of interactive exhibits to capture their hands on interest. There should be some amount of preparation involved for the students or children, parents should go without the Disney mentality of constant entertainment, realizing that Liberty Science Center is designed to be both entertaining and educational. Help children and teens to take time to absorb some of the science behind the exhibits and not just rush off from exhibit to exhibit. The downside of the Liberty Science Center is that it tends to be crowded during the school week from school trips; I dont know how it is on the weekends or summers. There are a lot of children here and that is the one detraction from an otherwise excellent production. It should be a full day trip and parents who are home schooling their children should definitely include it in their childs educational experience. For home schooling parents who are creation minded, the exhibit that features how engineering copies nature, known as biomimetics or biomimicry should be of interest. Dont shy away from science because of a strong belief system. This is great day trip in NJ.
