We had the absolute best day doing the 2 hour long introduction course with Qamar as our instructor! He explained everything really well and let us try lots of different handguns. He was very friendly and gave us challenges to make it even more interesting. It was perfect for beginners! We loved it and would definitely want to come back some day. Thank you so much!

I took the Basic Pistol Course in July 2020.The course was very informative. Not just for the pistol but the additional information concerning your legal rights and the constant reminders to be safe. With this course you have class room time and gun range time. They also helped those that needed help with getting their gun purchase permit. You do not need the permit to take the course. So the gun range time is the second part of the class... Most people couldnt meet the next day schedule so they were offered other days for their range time.At the range the class participants had their own section away from the general public. We shot 2 versions of the Glock 9mm, H&K 40mm (nice gun), and 2 varieties of 22mm...I have nothing else to compare to. However, the information I received I used at a range in another state and they said that must have been a good class...My opinion- all people passionate about what they do are different. Thats my preference- love what you do, do what you love.I am going to take 2 more courses. Thanks for the classs - Rev. Lance

Stay away!!! According to their website, their mission is to provide Loyalty, Integrity, Excellence. Well that’s a hilarious joke and lie. It’s a tough task to provide those things when they don’t follow through with the services you paid for by making up excuses and taking your money. Do yourself a favor and go with the hundreds of other places that give you the same thing. Before you respond back saying how you don’t have any record of me making the reservation, I was part of the group of 8 that got ripped off.

My wife and I took the Basic Pistol Class with Lateif back in December 2019. The class was very informative. Lateif has many years of experience and was able to answer pretty much any question that arose. The training facility was also nice, clean and up to date. We were able to take the classroom training and apply it out at the range with Lateifs assistants there to show us the way. Overall a great experience. My wife and I plan to take the Level 2 pistol class next.

I was looking to take a handgun safety course prior to the purchase of a handgun. i found the perfect place in NJ Firearms Academy. The Basic Pistol course from the academy exceeded my expectations. The course covered safety, handgun mechanics, rules every handgun owner should know and ended with how to properly clean a handgun. The instructor had extensive knowledge of all aspects pertaining to firearms.the best part of the course was the interactive method the instructor offered answering all questions. We then went to the firing line and the instructors there were professional and took the time to answer questions and correct any flaws newbies usually make. i would recommend NJ Firearms Academyto anyone. Thanks Again Guys.

I had the absolute pleasure of attending a Basic Pistol class in late August at the recommendation of a trusted friend. The little she shared with me had me convinced that I should take the class to learn gun safety. I did so, days after she told me about it.Not only was the class run efficiently, our instructor Lateif was a joy to learn from. The class was totally packed but lacked nothing by way of professionalism and integrity. His excitement and love of what he does is palpable which makes for pure excellence in instruction. He and his team are very patient and happy to answer literally any questions that arise. I found this to be a breath of fresh air as it truly should be this way considering the nature of the class. He makes himself available during and long after the classes as well, answering questions and concerns. He is willing to help in any way he can and has proven that time and time again. I cant speak for any other firearms training facilities, but I would and have recommended this particularly company time and time again. Youd be hard pressed to find one more passionate about what they do. Im grateful I went to him first.

The first time I heard of New Jersey Firearms Academy I was going there to learn to shoot so I can be qualified as an arm guard. I also thought it was about time that I learn how to shoot. Taking the first introductory class I felt very confident and comfortable when I was my time to hold a pistol and shoot for my first time. I was able to excel due to the proper detailed information that was giving to me and more importantly I did so safely. We later went back to the classroom to debrief and I heard dogs barking in the back office. Then to later find out the chief instructor Mr. Dickerson also trains dogs for protection and scent trailing. This was a huge interest to me because I love dogs and was amazed of how well they were trained. I was surprised of all the things Mr. Dickerson was qualified in as he has a very detailed resume. From that day I have stayed close to and maintained a great relationship with Mr Dickerson. I have taken many safety and self defense classes with Mr Dickerson from which I have learned a lot. I currently assist Mr Dickerson with safety on the range and assist him with anything that I can. The one thing that he stresses more that anything is safety, and the only way to be safe is to always practice safety. Mr Dickerson has a fountain of knowledge and wisdom that he looking to pass on and it was a great decision for me to be apart of New Jersey Firearms Academy. I receive a lot of pleasure from helping first time users learn how to shoot and how to be comfortable using a firearms safely. I urge anyone that wants to properly know how to handle a firearms or interested in self defense to sign up with New Jersey Firearms Academy. It will be the best decision you can make.

I dont know who puts the good reviews up, must be friends and family but this business is fraudulent. I would stay away from this place, do not pay him anything over PayPal, there are reviews from the past about the same issue Im having. We scheduled a group session with him, paid him over PayPal to secure our place when in reality he just uses longshot facility in secaucus and charges you double the price that longshot would charge. He uses trainers...which are the people that are already at longshot shooting range. Stay away from this place, gonna report him to BBB also.Check your records, my name is definitely on a list. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!Terrible experience from start to finish.I paid in advance for a Saturday lesson for my wife and myself. Shortly afterward I receive an email from the instructor *telling* me casually that our lesson was on Sunday - no explanation, no “would it be ok if we reschedule?” I responded asking if/why it was moved, and got back a copy-paste of the first email. We tried to make the best of it and moved around our schedule for the Sunday class. On Sunday, we spent an hour trying to find the place. We called and emailed multiple times, but were not able to get a response, so we gave up and went home.I wrote an email and politely asked if we could have our money refunded. That was a week ago, no response.

I just wanted to sing the praises of your staff. Especially (and please forgive me that i didnt catch his name in the very loud gun range) the retired police officer who kindly, patiently, and respefully lead us through our basic class this past Sunday January 14. I came to the basic class as a birthday gift from my husband and I wanted to try something new, something I feared. And though I jumped every time a gun went off, teared up a little getting close to one and shook through my first holding of it, I was so grateful to have an instructor who calmly and nicely showed me the technical aspects. He never talked down to me like I was just some little gal, and he actually got me to really respect the technical skill it takes for target practice. If I can ever get over not jumping every time a gun goes off, I may be back to continue work on that skill. I found it quite fascinating. I just was so relieved to see a mix of men and women working there and taking the class and I cant sing the praises of our instructor enough. The entire staff was kind and calm and helpful. Thank you!

Ive been actively training with Chief and the NJFA for over six years at this point. His knowledge and skills are unparalleled, and the passion he has for what he does is very noticeable. Under his coaching, I have learned more than I ever thought I would about firearms and the shooting sports. Ive done several classes both on a basic and advanced level and Im always eager to learn more with him. Only firearms instructor Ive seen thats actually invested in students learning the material, as opposed to just getting them to shoot and take their money. The new facility is top notch and allows for a lot of fun. If youre serious about firearms and being proficient with them, look no further.

I started my shooting career at NJFA under the direct training of Chief Dickerson. At the time the range was not in the best shape BUT really when it comes to shooting you dont need the aesthetics to learn and perform well. Mr. Dickersons coaching style and wealth of knowledge helped me accelerate up the learning curve quickly and assisted me in developing a solid platform for my shooting and tactical skills. I spent many years under the instruction and coaching of Chief Dickerson. I can confidently say that my time with NJFA has been the upmost and defined the type of shooter I am today.

His long record of proven success in the field and the equipment available to students makes this a fun and enriching experience. You learn from real life experiences, cases studies, books, and tales told by a Master Chief who is recognized nationwide for his talents. I do not think Chief Lateif would lie about finding jobs to students, because he is a man of Integrity, Loyalty and Excellence, and that is what you should also expect to learn once you graduate from his school. Do not get fooled by appearances, if you want to learn and polish yourself you must be willing to study hard and let you egos out the door.
