A Patriotic place to visit in the State of Missouri. Surrounded by a nice river view & landscaping, along with various statues & monumental stone inscriptures. A good place to appreciate, as well as to get out of the vehicle and stretch and take a breath of fresh air and to reflect upon our forfathers.

An excellent place for a family outing,a walk, a date, or just enjoying architecture and the great outdoors! The grounds are well kept, and the fountains and flowers are very nice to visit. There is construction in the area, but it is well marked and there are plenty of ways to get around it.

This writing is to build on the Missouri State Capitol building as a whole which encompasses the equally impressive Missouri State Museum. The architecture of the building is so securing, but also almost has a quiet feel to it. You can here the Senate echos through the walls during the off summer months.

Jefferson City has a nice downtown area mixing historic and modern buildings. The state capitol is worth a visit, not necessarily as a destination stop, but certainly for an hour or two break if youre passing through; or, as we did, make Jefferson City a stop for the night when traveling I-70 (its only about 30 miles south of Columbia). Our highlights are the Thomas Hart Benton paintings in the House Lounge and several of the lunettes on the second floor (the tour guide pointed out the best ones). We also enjoyed exhibits on Missouri natural history.

I would definitely recommend taking a tour of the capital of the state of Missouri great art structures to be seen great place to take photographs lots of local venues Restaurant shopping in Jefferson City can make it worth the trip depending where you live Grounds of the capital or beautifully kept I recommend fall of the year early spring after they implanted all the flowers. A great One day road trip for residence and a beautiful place to stop for anyone passing through the state.

We stopped here on our way from Kansas City to St. Louis. It is about half way on the drive and a great pitstop. The bottom floor is a museum where you can learn about the history of the state. You can go up several floor and see into the Senate and the House rooms. Everyone working there was very knowledgeable and willing to share with us.

There is a lot of cool historical sites and monuments to check out here. Unfortunately our trip was spontaneous and during the winter. Everything was closed and the Capitol building was under renovation and completely fenced off. We still got to check out a lot of the monuments and other cool sites. There is an awesome view of the Missouri River and great places for taking pictures.

Lots of renovations keeping Missouri running and our history intact for all to see, participate, and learn about and from. Spend the morning with a guided tour or head off on your own. Dont forget the basement, and with your representative you can go into the whisper gallery. History meets the 21st century, in Jefferson City, MO.

What a grand place! The 1st level has allotted space to high quality museum. Another level displays scores of busts of famous Missourians (Harry Truman, Betty Grable, Walter Cronkite, etc.). Yet other levels have seemgly countless semi-moon and traditionally shaped historical murals. Visit your local representative, look into the House and/or Senate Chambers, or take in the statues and fountains. Currently, the capitol is under restoration, but still this a must see as a great place to visit.

Very interesting. Stopped in to see the Governor but was in St Louis but we got a tour of his office which was very very nice. We also received a couple of souvenirs from his office too. Also went to the Secretary of State office and impressed our own The Great Seal which was very cool. The building is so huge with so many interesting things to see and do. Great place to tour with this hot weather we are having, because its very cool in there. While the adults are going through the museum your children will also enjoy the Raggedy Ann path of their own! Fun and interesting visit! More than what we had expected.

Great tour, guide knowledge...good availability and freedom to wonder and check out the quirks. Front of the capital under reconstruction right now which hinders so photo taking experiences but should be done by the end of summer. Make sure to check out the famous Missourian busts and the congressional lobby painted by Thomas Hart Benton, amazing piece of art. Bring an umbrella if it might rain as parking is away from the capital unless you wanna try and score some of the parking meter spots that are sometimes available right around the capital square.

A neat place to explore and see how government works. During session in the spring you can sit above the Congress and watch how it works. You can also go by different legislators offices and get to meet your local legislator. The building itself is currently undergoing some renovations particularly on the exterior so be prepared to have to enter by a different entrance and you might expect.

Its the best capitol in Missouri! Accept no substitutes. Also, it really is a good place to visit if youre a Missourian-might as well, you paid for it. Lots of great history, knowledgeable tour guides, and maybe a wild politician or two sneaking around the halls. Im sure other capitol buildings have more bells and whistles, but this is a nice one. There does seem to be a semi constant state of construction in various areas, but usually avoidable. Go and pretend its a third grade school trip, and see the capitol.
