After learning about this is my History of Pittsburgh class I wanted to see it for myself so I set out on a warm spring day and I was glad to see everthing in good shape and well cared for. I didnt enter the visitors center but I did walk the trails which are marked with historic plaques to read. Its worth a visit
This museum might be small but the battlefield it sits on is quite large. Inside the visitors center you will see artifacts from the French and Indian War. It is well maintained and well kept. It is a reasonable price to learn the history of this site. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and some are dressed in historical costumes. Plenty of parking and public restrooms are available. This is a PA historic and museum commission site.

I am a volunteer tour guide at Bushy Run Battlefield. This is the only Native American. Battlefield in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and it is also one of the top tem most haunted paranormal sights in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
A must visit for anyone interested in history!
Great trails for easy to slightly moderate exercise and some great views, with chalk loads of History.
Take the dog for walk in the woods she loves. it very nice
Great place to know the history,$5 worth it.Bushy Run Battlefield Park is a historical park that is operated by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) and the Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society on 218 acres (88 ha) in Penn Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in the United States. It was the site of the Battle of Bushy Run fought on August 5–6, 1763 during the Pontiacs Rebellion. The battle was a major victory for the British and enabled them to secure their control of the Ohio River Valley and what was to become the Northwest Territory. Bushy Run Battlefield Park was established as a Pennsylvania State Park in the 1920s and became a National Historic Landmark in 1960. The Visitor Center is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, and Sunday from noon to 5:00 pm, during the months of May–October. The Visitor Center hosts a museum exhibit entitled, The March to Bushy Run, a theater, a gift shop and battlefield tours. Bushy Run Battlefield Park is the only historic site or museum that deals exclusively with Pontiacs Rebellion. Battle reenactments are held annually on the first full weekend of August.[4] The park is on Pennsylvania Route 993 near Harrison City and Jeannette.
Take the tour, youll feel like you learned a semester of history. Without it theres not much here.
Definitely a place to checkout very historical and beautiful.
Thats a great way to teach children about the past
Excellent view best place tour ever.
Beautiful scenery, and VERY haunted
Wonderful museum and guided tour for only $5. Learn about the massacre here and then follow up with a visit to State Point park.
Great way to spend a few hours: informative, entertaining and enjoyable.
This battle was critical to the relief of Fort Pitt during what was known as Pontiacs Rebellion at the close of the French and Indian War. Tours are offered during the summer. A museum and bookstore are enjoyable. Outdoor activities include hiking trails and a large picnic pavilion. Great place for the family.
Nice scenic location with a small museum. It has nice trails as well.
Really beautiful historical site..Very educational and interesting
Excellent car show
Enjoyed walking on the trails, easy access, multiple trails of main trail, easy difficulty
Great reenactments and even when nothing is going on it is a wonderful peaceful place.
We definitely enjoyed exploring here! The scenery is beautiful. Cant wait to come back for more trails!
My family and I went to visit but, unknown to us, it was off season. The curator, who was inside, saw us and asked us to come in. They turned on all the displays for us and gave us an individualized tour. What great leadership and customer service. We will definitely go back.
Great guides who are walking history books of our local area. Learned lots and the battlefields are pristine condition and all done with volunteers help.
Tours are offered, clean park and nice trails.
Did the Bushy Run 5k there. The course is hard but its a great course. It was short tho. Was 2.77miles vs 3.1for a 5k. Ill be back for more next year.
What a great place to take the family for free. Beautiful trails to walk and have a little bit of a history lesson. I even like to hike with my .
Beautiful place for a wedding. Everything to make it magical
Very informative and really interesting... Our tour guides shared lots of intriguing stories about the place and its history.
Reenactment event was really fun. Very knowledgeable tour guide.
Great place to walk the dog. Lots of trails to explore.

Park is free to walk around on trails. You only pay admissions to the museum.
Nice park to walk the dog through the trails in the woods
Great history park to walk dogs
I have been going to this park since I was a child and now I take my own children. It is a beautiful park with rich history. The annual reenactments are a really enjoyable event. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is because they have recently fallen way behind in groundskeeping and mowing.
Nice place to walk or jog in the woods on good trails.
Museum is very nice
Ive been going to this park and exploring the woods as well as the historic battlefield for over 39 years. Its a great place to hike, walk your dogs or just relax outside on a nice day. Not typically crowded and easy to find.
Great place to go walking
Great hidden gem. Perfect place for a walk, history, or nature.
Beautiful place to hike. You can pay for the museum, but we didnt. We love the reenactment, but you do have to pay those days and its worth it!
Awesome place to visit with good trails and historians and volunteers who are dedicated to preserving local history.
Great volunteers with a wealth of knowledge!
Lots of wooded trails. Rode my bike this time.
It was great the reenactment was very good.
Very nice paintings and history here!
The battlefield is beautiful with a lot of interesting history. However the event we went for was badly run and poorly executed
We celebrated my daughters wedding at Bushy Run. It is an amazing venue to hold such an event. Fall was the theme of the wedding and the falling leaves from the trees were in full color, the walnuts in the trees and on the ground made for a beautiful setting for spectacular photos. The staff were professional and very thoughtful. Parking was more than ample, the facility was spotless. I highly endorse this Historic place as a great event venue.
Cool place for a 5k and a little history
Quiet, peaceful, well maintained. Great place to run and bring your pup. I like it better than twin lakes for its quietness and beauty.
Always fun at reenactments! Bushy run is also a great place to get out for a nice run or walk.
Fun place lots of history.
I love this park. Its small and easy to navigate. The volunteers who work the museum and give tours are very insightful. Its best time is in the fall and they put on an anniversary reenactment every year also. I recommend a visit to learn more about this lost era of Pre-USA history.
Excellent place to learn a portion of history (from the 1760s), have a picnic, go on a hike through the trails etc
Very friendly and nice
Bushy Run is a historic site but also has very nice walking paths. It has easy paths and also some more challenging paths. It is very peaceful and it does allow pets.
Very informative and helpful employees / volunteers. Clean atmosphere and great place to learn some history. Kids are welcome as well.
Liked it got a lot of information about the battlefield
Nice grounds for walking, dogs permitted, with open fields and wooded paths. Also has historical markers and signs.
Beautiful walking and hiking trails for the dog walker or jogger. Small, but informative museum with guided tours about the 1763 battle that was fought on the site between British soldiers and Native American warriors that really tries to look at the conflict from both sides POVs. And the annual battle reenactment in August is amazing!
Mr. Morgan was an excellent and informative tour guide. We had a really great time.
This historical battlefield is a beautiful setting for a walk. During certain times of the year there are events such as 5Ks, ghost tours, and the annual reenactment in August. There is also a museum on the site for a more educational visit.
Excellent buffet, very attentive wait staff, FRESH seafood! Always a good experience here! Clean bathrooms, free refills!
Walk my dog there quite often very nice place to walk.

Had a field trip there today with ny kids school and the tour and tour guidr were wonderful. Such a nice time!
This is a fun place if you want to go for a short walk through the woods.
Don’t be fooled by the hours posted here; the museum and gift shop are closed throughout the winter. But the park, and the programs that are put on here throughout the warmer season are excellent!
Great Park History
Definitely more of a warmer days place. But great to bring the kids and learn about the history of our great nat
