Nice little walk. We saw a turtle and a tree frog. Brackish water showed off some lovely aquatic plants

Its a good place to drop in a kayak or canoe but getting to the launch isnt exactly easy. Terrain is a bit rough and washed out from the parking lot to the trail and it can get a bit muddy after a good rain. There is a small walking trail there as well that is nice but the area is swampy so mosquitoes can be an issue during warmer months. The parking lot is gated but Im not sure if and when its closed. Also, theres many snakes, gators, turtles and birds that call this area home so leave them be and be sure pick up trash and discarded fishing lines.

Great walking trail, but short. Canoe launch is much nicer than expected.

This is a tiny little spot but great for boats and also has a kayak landing. Fishing is a must if you come by. Inwould recommend this gem as a must see. However if you have the whole family with you and no boat I would recommend someone a little better like Cedar Point or Northeast Creek Park. Hope I could help a little.

Well its official...the New River still has some good fishing. We went out this morning for the first time since hurricane Florence. Saw the nice lady who takes care of this place of beauty. She said we were the first to go out. I caught a nice Bass and a Cropie and husband caught a nice Bass and a mudfish. If you notice you can see where the water hight went to on the brush and trees along sides of the River. Felt great to be there!

Nice park. It was only a 5 min trail. Didn’t go kayaking but if you have your own you can go on the water trail. They don’t have kayak rentals. Anyways my only advice for people who read this is to bring something to spray yourself against flies bec they will be swarming on you if you don’t have protection against it.

This place is great for kayaking. you go to the right eventually you will hit a spot with a bunch of dead trees built up. If you go left and stick to the right shore you end up downtown by the bridge. Also the doc makes it super easy to launch with a kayak or canoe.
