Mrs.Lunger is a grade school bully who managed to become a teacher somehow, the academic teachers are fine and good for the most part, but my experience in the Visual Arts department was toxic and spirit-crushing a lot of the times and most of that was due to Mrs.Lunger and her treatment of me and other students. I’m not gonna go into specifics for my privacy and other’s privacy but just be warned if you’re a visual artist and plan on going to this school expect favoritism, belittling, passive-aggressiveness and just downright unkind and mean words and actions from Lunger.

I love this school! The staff are amazing, and are extremely supportive- especially the vocal teachers! All my teachers taught me so much and I’m so glad I go to this school. Yes, it may be challenging at times, but with hard work and dedication, you can really do wonders here. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to go here and you surely won’t regret getting in. If you’re going into the sixth grade, just be yourself and I think you’ll figure things out from here! Good luck, this school is phenomenal. ️

Awful staff, teachers bully kids and make them feel inferior, awful school. Ms.Lunger and Ms.Wilson (math teacher Ms.Wilson) especially. They’re not fit to be teachers, at least not for kids.

I have gone to lavilla for 2 years im going to go to Douglas Anderson next year for 9th grade. I have a lot of good memories with this school and the vocal teachers are the best! I am definitely going to miss it but if you are going in vocal be aware that if you arent in the level three/four chorus classes that you wont be able to go on the trips but they still think of everyone the same :D Overall great school.

I went to this school for 3 years and it was probably the worst experience of my life. I’m a creative writing major at DA now, but i was a double major at Lavilla for CW and Art. Ms. Lunger is one of the worst people to teach to children. on multiple occasions, she belittled children and made them feel worthless. she said that i would amount to nothing as an artist and that i should just stick to writing. she told kids that they would be stuck on the streets and that their art was horrible. i’ve never met a more unqualified teacher in my life. if you have the misfortune of her being your teacher, i’ll pray for you.

We are pleased with this school. It is well maintained and focused on academics as well as art areas. They keep the students engaged and provide a safe environment for the kids.We are proud to say our child attends LaVilla!!!!

Well to be honest Im kinda scared to go to this school next year I mean Ill be in 9th grade and Im leaving all my friends in Baldwin behind to be honest I dont wanna be the new girl in school, I just want my own group of weird friends and I know that Im about to lose my popular reputation but Im totally fine with it because Im ready to change

We came from Saint Johns schools which were not as helpful to our daughter. Im completely amazed with every teacher willing to do anything to accomadate or catch her up. We have a family issue and these teachers are so wonderful and accepting to get her doing her best. They truly love the kids and getting them successful. Great school!

I am A 7th grader, I had 2 sisters come before me for chorus this school helps so much with reaching goals and desires. I person love Mr.Pendry and Mrs.King, although all students agree their dress code is over the top and dress codes girls more than guys. The staff is very kind though

Its hard to believe these students are only in middle school. What the teachers are able to get out of their students is impressive. I cant speak for the other arts areas, but the vocal teachers are top notch and the principal, Ms. Wagoner is one of the best ever. Academically the teachers have been superior too. My child loves going to school and I feel it has everything to do with the teachers and the environment provided.

I going to the school next year but I read all the reviews and by all of that I pretty much almost laughed my butt off all this talk about teachers most were good just about 3 bad review about teachers like Ms. Green and something with a B but I cant wait to go to this school in 6th for you people already there look out for my name Im coming gor art.

Okay, look, this will be a long review, haha. Im a sixth grader who goes to LaVilla, and Ms.Bethel is like the sweetest teacher in the world, love her so much! Shes very kind, but she can be tough on you when you need it the most. I had a 52 in her class, but I was helped to raise it up to a 91, so Im happy with that.Mr.McCullough is very interesting. I dont hate him, but hes not my favourite teacher. He is kind of extra and makes us do our work on separate sheets of paper, but hes honestly a great teacher. He does get off topic a whole lot. Like, we went from talking about rational and irrational numbers to him passing out a piece of paper talking about every single digit in pi, haha! Thats what I love about him, though. Overall, hes a great teacher.Now, heres the teacher I am not a huge fan of; Ms.Bradley. Shes kind of a loose cannon and gets VERY upset over minor occurrences. Shell get upset if you help another person (non-verbally) with their computer, going on a tangent about whatever thing irritated her, and shell only call on the students that she likes, but wont call on you even after saying that you should be interested in the conversation. Ive raised my hands countless times and she hasnt called on me once this year, but I have to be more involved? She gets mad if you even touch a computer pad. Honestly, not a favourite of anybody in the school, and many people in my class hate her. Might ask the principal if I could switch classes if Im that brave, lol.One of my favourite teachers (Other than Ms.Bethel) is Mr.Farrel. I mean, the one that teaches Civics. He is really funny and straightforward. He gives you advice when you mess a question up and is pretty laid back. He randomly calls on people and doesnt pick favourites to call on, and yeah, thats pretty much it. Overall, good teacher, thumbs up in my book.So, those are my A day teachers, wont list my B day ones cause WHEWIE, THATS FOR ANOTHER DAY. Anyways, Overall, Would give this school a five, but third paragraph kinda took two stars off. The teachers work hard to help you improve your art area skills, the students are really friendly, Ive made friends in all of my classes without myself even having to say a word, and I really like my school. My mom really wants to take me out though, she says that some of the staff are really crazy, and shes not a big fan of some of my teachers. But, Ill try to convince her to let me stay at least for the rest of the year.For Parents: If youre planning to pick your child up after dismissal, please dont. Its so crowded out there, and the buses have to go through. You might be afraid to allow your children to ride a bus to and from school, considering that high schoolers will be riding the bus with your child, but its alright, because the high schoolers dont do anything to you. They usually keep to themselves, usually because theyre ashamed that they ride with middle schoolers.For Staff: YOU HEARD WHAT I SAID.

Lavilla is honestly one of the best things that has ever happened to me. It gives me so many opportunities to express who I am and what Im thinking.Im in the orchestra department and the directors are beyond compare! Theyre the best out there.

This school is one of the best schools out in Jacksonville! The Arts Area classes are really amazing and the staff are more than perfect. But beware of Satan in the form of a teacher, Mrs. Green. She is the rudest most devious woman at Lavilla. If your child has her, please switch them out of her class before they become emotionally distraught and stressed out beyond repair.

I am excited to go here for the 7th grade, I am going to audition for chorus. I am currently in a trash school for the 6th grade (southside middle). I wrote a longggg paragraph on the southside middle reviews if you want to read it and see why it is bad.

Its not all that as they make it to be. Just would be a disappointment. Honestly even if u want to start perusing your dream at a young age, just do a club or something; because if you go here your wasting 3 years of your life. I dont know thats how it feels to me and a couple of my friends.

My experience was good. My old teachers were nice I learned a lot but I didnt achieve what I wanted to, now im going to ribault its not bad but its not as good. If I had another chance to go there I would take it because it is a good school I had lots of friends there that I miss and yeh kids you would like to go there.

I’m not sure about this school, I haven’t tried out yet but the reason my family is considering this school because I’m am a victim of bullying and I am still being bullied but I can sing very well, my mom thinks this will be a good choice for me but a few reviews of this school said that there has been bullies and I’m not sure if I’m ready for more bullying problems, my question is: are there bullies and are they very mean?
