Enjoyed the museum greatly. The film was full of history, that we were glad to finally hear and be able to connect it all. Alot of the historic names we knew previously, but didnt know why or where they belonged. The out building across the street are interesting and full of history also. The building is great, but the gift shop needs work. Were sure it will all work out for the best. Thanks for a good time.

Wonderful accidental find while on the way from the beach. The gentleman that showed us around (Ty) was very knowledgeable about the structures and history. They also have an indoor model train that my son loved. The grounds were very well kept. Simple place that I passed everyday for years but worth taking a look at it.

We love to go when theres a kid friendly event. This last time is was Ride the Rails. The whole museum is free, with model trains and kid train rides. Theres a locomotive they can climb into, a circa 1900 train station, a home around that time too. Its a great day outing!

I think the Beaches Museum is a community treasure. It’s informative, provides a nice history of each beach community, it’s family friendly and accessible, has a nice staff, and best of all is FREE! I really had a great time.

This is a fantastic museum. Such an interesting display of items from the area. The volunteers were extremely friendly. I found the paid staff rather haughty. As a retired museum director there is more to running a successful museum than displaying its treasures. I look forward to revisiting when back in town.

All the employees and docents here were so helpful and friendly. The museum itself is not very big, but so much history and artifacts. Definitely take time to get the guided tour of the outer buildings and the train engine that Flagler used to develop this island and ultimately all the east coast of Florida. And the price is right - FREE. i was surprised at the museum. I found it very interesting with a lot of artificats. i would recommend going to it.

The Beaches Museum consists of one large main museum, and several outlying historic structures set beside the Museum in a park-like setting. We attended their Polar Express were delightfully surprised! All the volunteers were so cheerful and helpful! It was nice to see Santa, but really his Helper Elf was worth the trip! She wore oversized elf slippers, reindeer sunglasses, and laughed with her whole body! The Polar Express movie played on continuous loop in one room while hot chocolate and cookies were dispensed in the foyer. Well-informed docents greeted us in the museum proper, answering questions about exhibits and offering reading suggestions. The village of collected historical buildings is so cheerful and well upkept. Theyve twined gardens along walkways with photogenic results. It was beautiful, well-planned, and cheerful. We SO enjoyed it!

Decided to stop by on our way home from the beach and are so happy we did! The museum is very clean, quiet and had some great information and exhibits. They were also showcasing a local artists work in one of the rooms which was an added bonus. We learned a lot and felt it was a great way to spend an hour out of our afternoon. Because of the generosity of the donors, admission is free for everyone. You really have nothing to lose by dropping by and learning a little bit about Jacksonville Beach!

This compact spot along Beach Blvd. is packed with things to do:1) learn the history of The Beaches in the informative museum2) explore historic structures rescued from the surrounding community (guided tour)3) pick-up Jax-area tourist info4) enjoy one of the changing art exhibits and,5) for the kids...see the train and model train set-up of the Beaches areaBest part...everything is FREE!I was greeted by their friendly staff and directed to a brief movie about the area. The museums exhibits highlight the areas history including the native people, early settlers and their battles for control, the railroad era with its grand hotels, and the 20th-century developments that followed.Mike, a volunteer docent, gave me a great tour of the collection of historic structures across the street from the musuem. I enjoyed seeing such a variety of early-Florida structures in one place. We toured a post office, train station, railroad foremans house (part of the Flagler East Coast Railway empire), an old farm house, and a chapel.Mike was a knowledgeable and energetic guide.Back at the museum, I was furnished with a host of brochures, maps and pamphlets by Susan, a veritable font of Jacksonville information. She selected info on historic attractions at my request. If youre visiting The Beaches area, I recommend a stop here whether its for a quick orientation or to sink your teeth into history.
