Not just any live music but Indianapolis musical legends performing for you! Real trendsetters like Charlie Ballantine, Rob Dixon, and Clint Breeze are there on an almost weekly basis to show you what jazz can be! So, Grab a glass of wine and enjoy the show! Chatterbox is In a league of its own, but this league is a different one. It’s timeless and I love the acoustics. Service is great. Especially Ari. Lots of culture. But the place is too small at time. But not a complaint, just brushing shoulders.

Chatterbox is the quintessential neighborhood bar where even if youre brand new you instantly feel right at home. An icon of the Indy jazz scene, if youre heading in for the music be sure to get here early to snag a seat. The place fills up fast! But not to worry as the atmosphere is cozy, the drinks inexpensive (might I note their solid scotch selection), and the people friendly. Be you a regular or newbie, youll love it here!

This is the right jazz bar in Indy. Dinner at Salt, followed by Chatterbox makes for a cool Friday evening, and a happy missy. Close to Chicago club quality, minus the drive. 7 dollars charge for that quality music? Sign me up everyday of the week.

This place is a gem. Intimate setting and real jazz every night. There are not many places left in the country like the Chatterbox. Be prepared to see some of the best jazz musicians in the world in their element. Oh and cheap drinks...

Visited a few months back for a friends birthday, the live music was excellent, drinks were decent, food was palatable. It’s a small space that can get quite busy and crowded, I don’t recommend it if you’re claustrophobic, otherwise it’s a great little hole-in-the-wall and I would go back.

Its the divy-est bar in downtown Indy and charming AF. Really talented bands play here all the time. They have pub food, really fair prices drinks and a cool little patio. Everyone should check this place out

The music was amazing. The energy was light. We sat on the patio and enjoy good drinks. They dont serve food though, so stop by after dinner.

Definitely overpriced cover ($7/person) for a dingy place. Plus, they added $2 per person to our cover for putting it on our card--something they didnt tell us about in advance. If I wasnt such a sucker for live music, Id give this place 2 stars.

Furniture could be better but the atmosphere was great. Wonderful waitresses with excellent customer service. Music was great and drinks were delightful.

Chatterbox had the perfect amount of dive-ness. The floors were patchy and the walls were covered with a random selection of decor. That being said the drinks were strong and of great value. The staff was extremely friendly and we felt welcomed. We came on a Saturday so the $7 jazz show started at 22:30. The music was amazing. We will be back

Awesome little gem on Mass Ave. Came on First Friday and it was packed. Found a spot at a table. The bartenders make excellent drinks. Have excellent customer service. Continuously make sure you are doing well. The band was great. Kept me engaged. I love the ambiance and reading the wording on the walls. Screams at you while you tap your foot and nod to the beat. Came alone and still had an awesome time. This place wont disappoint.

I will truly surprise the barmaids were very nice and the jazz band was great really good music if you want to hear good jazz but the owner really needs to work on fixing up the place and thats why I gave it three stars because the place looks like a dive.

Always love the Chatterbox. Owner is the first to great you and the last to see you out. Jazz is live and always good. Never disappointed. Crowed is chill. Good vibe all around. Highly recommend.

One of the worlds great jazz hole-in-the-walls, which seems improbable so judge for yourself. The atmosphere is intimate, the drinks cheap, the food tolerable, and the music astounding. Wednesday nights with Sophie Faught and/or the Tucker Brothers cant be beat.

Divey in the best way! Small spot with a little patio and fantastic live jazz. Reasonable prices and an uber-casual vibe. Beer, wine and cocktails to drink. Never had the food, but it always looks and smells tasty.

Small but cozy place to grab drinks and listen to live music. Ive never had a bad experience. Bands are always fantastic whenever I go, the servers and bartenders are nice, and the popcorn is pretty good to snack on as well! Decor is original and has lots of history behind it. Definitely a place to check out in Indy.

Old time, vintage bar that has a hipster vibe. Jazz night is awesome but you have to get there early to get a seat. Bartenders make good drinks. Small area so be prepared to be near people.

Dont ever change. Good anytime. Juke box. So much stuff to look at you dont have to worry about talking to the people youre with. Bring cash for musician collection.

Music was good. Service was a joke bartenders were rude and took 30 min to get another drink. Couldn’t get their attention and they were standing and talking. Went here on a Tuesday night not busy. Was very excited to go here left disappointed.

Rude!!!! We bought a round of beer (probably 12 beers) the lady didnt think we tipped enough so she said something to us. We then gave her more. (Plenty more)! On the next round she thought we werent watching her and she barely tipped up the vodka to my friends vodka soda. Its small and dirty in there.

The Chatterbox is so representative of Indianapolis culture. Whether youre a tourist or a local, I cannot express how important it is for you to make the chatterbox a part of your night!! It is the most fun jazz bar to go to in the city and it truly lives up to its name. Every time I have been to this bar, Ive always had conversations with other customers. If you want to catch the live music, it starts at 8 pm Sunday-Thursday and 10 pm on Friday/Saturday. Also they dont have actual food there, just popcorn.

Went here for the first time and had a great experience. The atmosphere is perfect for jazz and the musicians are excellent. Drinks were ok, but really this place is about the music.

The atmosphere is amazing, the jazz is one of kind. The feeling in the air is electric. If you’re in Indy you have to visit this landmark. I love it, and the band makes me feel at home.

Coupled with cheap drinks and a great patio right on Mass Ave you really couldnt ask for more. Free Sunday through Thursday!

Old establishment, certainly a staple for the area, but the run down appearance and lack of choice of liquor, certainly limits the clientele they will maintain as return customers.

Great ambience. It was a dive when the owner originally purchased it. He hasnt changed anything except to run off the drunks and add the music.

A wonderful Jazz bar that hosts some really talented musicians. Ive come here often, the owner and staff are very welcoming and courteous. I would recommend going on the fourth Tuesday for Sarah Grain and the Billion Stars.

This is an awesome place to hear some really great music. A small and divey bar, with regular groups that never disappoints. I have been many times, and will keep going back for a chill night out and a couple drinks.

Ive always loved this dive jazz bar feel. This place is perfect in my taste. Decor is a hodgepodge of memories between the owner, staff, and customers. Patrons are encouraged to leave their mark on the bartop, which is a kind of customers guest list. For those with the urge to leave their mark in private, the bathroom is a testament to bathroom graffiti. My favorite dive of dives. Youll see me here at least once a week if possible.

This place has the cheapest drinks downtown by far that I have found anyway. They serve a little bit of snack food if you need a bite. Every night they have live jazz and occasionally comedy. Theres no cover charge they ask you to tip the entertainment. Its definitely a hole in the wall but thats part of its charm. A wonderful place to go out get a drink and be entertained without spending a fortune.

This is what a Jazz Club should be. It is small and the music is great. They have good beer on tap and fantastic graffiti on the bathroom walls. When you sit at the bar and listen to the music everything in the world seems like it is right where it should be.

2/8/20- Walked in and wasn’t greeted. Stayed for a while and was never approached for a drink order. One additional person walked in. No movement towards them either! Very rude waitress and will not go back!
