We went and saw Winter Lights for the first time. The lights were beautiful and the experience was great! They do a fantastic job with the lights display. It just seems overpriced for our kids that dont slow down. Then, buy drinks to enjoy through it. We skipped the merchandise. It seemed really short for the price. And then with people crowding the space and making you feel like you should rush because you did slow down.

Newfields is fantastic. Ive been there to see a ballet at the Toby, and more recently for Harvest Nights. Its a well maintained facility, free and easily accessed parking, and fair pricing for a major art gallery. I dont feel like pricing for entry and food is too surprising, and its comparable to other galleries Ive visited. In fact, I felt their membership pricing was better (more affordable) than others. The staff are very helpful and easy to find. Some really wonderful artists come through this museum, so keep your eyes peeled!

Very beautiful museum, gardens and the mansion! Lilly’s house was beautifully decorated. The green house and the beer garden had many interesting plants and flowers that I have never seen before. The fountain, the little bridges and surrounding walking paths and gardens were all beautiful and well maintained. Highly recommended for people looking for a leafy and relaxing place!

I recent attended the Harvest Nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was without question the most illuminated pumpkins I have ever seen in my life at one time and the attention to detail was impressive with each of the pumpkins having a unique face. The Lilly House show with the projections and music was equally fun to watch, although slightly crowded. Overall, I felt pretty safe with the covid precautions in place (masks required even though outdoors), but there were a few spots where the flow could have been improved slightly to minimize congestion. While it is a bit costly per ticket, I will say it was well worth it and it must have took considerable time and effort to make this experience what it was.

Nice winter lights display. They are following covid safety guidelines, everybody is wearing masks and taking space from each group. You can purchase souvenirs and lights to make the experience even brighter. Very enjoyable for kids and adults. They have drinks, snacks and restrooms available.

The most illuminated pumpkins that I’ve ever seen. There were pluses & minuses to our experience. The pluses were free well organized parking, tickets were easy to purchase, and well decorated. The minuses were the price & crowd size. The attraction is relatively small, so it’s not like you’ll spend a lot time time there. This made the ticket price seem a bit much. I was disappointed how quickly we came to the end. The crowd was larger than I expected. I felt mostly safe since everyone was wearing a mask but in some areas traffic stagnated. Maneuvering the crowd took away from the magic. We went on a weekend, I probably should have opted for a weekday. But...the pumpkins were beautiful.

Lovely museum. Definitely a must see if you are in Indianapolis. It started raining so we missed the gardens but from what we could see they looked beautiful. Staff was friendly. Everything is presented well. I wish there was more Greek just because thats my favorite but otherwise it was great. The shop was a real treat. Cant believe how much they have in there. They are handling Covid well too. Little better direction on where to go since escalators were down would be nice. We figured it out though.

The light show is a modern example of patience and precision. Lights have carefully been fastened to the trees and shrubs around the garden and they make for a good show.Theres also a historic Lilly House that you shouldnt miss. One of those places dreams are made of! The light show also has a few food tents and a smore station perfect for the chilly weather. There are a few heating stations in the middle of your tour if you need a recharge.

I love the IMA (Newfields) but my family and I find it absurd that they now charge the full museum ticket price to walk the grounds, gardens. One day recently, we wanted to go to the beer garden within the gardens (where we would spend money for beverages), but they required us to pay for full museum access because the beer garden is in the gardens. We were not going into the museum so we left. It was great when you used to be able to go and walk to gardens for free (I could understand a small fee or parking fee), but now it really is a rip off. They missed out on the money we would have spent in the beer garden besides. I hope they reevaluate their pricing system in the near future.

Pricey but lovely place. Wish I couldve stayed longer. Only real criticism I have is the hours...i wanted to bring my nieces however they are only open until 4p ...most kids are in school until 3 so unless its the weekend or they have a weekday off I cant take them. Outside of that, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and was well worth the price if you are an art lover

Review №46

Parts of it are excellent and there are quite a few surprises of some famous artworks in there that I did not know were in Indianapolis. But there are many many secondary and tertiary artists who worked in the style of Picasso or Seurat, but theres only one Picasso and theres only one real Seurat. The Asian exhibit is the most lacking but Im glad for that because theres enough of that anywhere.I think they would do better to place lithographs of different artists and have the real thing than the secondary and tertiary artists if they cant afford the paintings. And the fourth floor, for the most part, is a total joke.

Newfields is my favourite place in Indianapolis! This is the art, garden, arboretum, historical architecture and family festival destination all in one stop! Formally the Indianapolis Art Museum and grounds has evolved into a never disappointing entertainment complex. One of the best bang for your buck cultural membership opportunities in Indianaolis. In the past year my guests and I have enjoyed a world class art installation of one of the worlds most revered artists Yayoi Kusama, interacted with the works and life of Edward Hopper, experienced a diverse collection of contemporary art such as my personal favourite Sound Suit by Nick Cave and strolled the exterior grounds during the fabulous Harvest Nights festival as well as my families favourite Winterlights. Everything Newfields does is done perfectly. This is a destination for the whole family. There is much more offered than I can praise here! Do yourself a favour, find out what is going on there and go! Get a membership, with so many different things to do it will pay for itself many times over by year end! Peace. Enjoy Art!

It took a while to figure out the revised layout, so we got in a bit more walking than originally planned, which was fine since there were so many Spring blooms to look at.
