Not bad. They have just about everything you would need in a gym. From sprinters to power lifters, youre bound to find your preference
Weekend hours are not good at all. You get chased out for dunking the basketball on a basketball court. You get chased around about having a towel that they “rent” for $2 or sell for $5. Pretty good besides that.
Theres plenty of cardio, weight machines and free weights available. No charge for faculty and staff since its a benefit.
Its an OK gym. Kinda disappointed. I was expecting a much better gym for being an university. Dumbells only go up to 100 pounds. Needs more weights, kept having to borrow plates from other machines. But it is very clean.
The Rec at SHSU is amazing. It has only improved in the last 7 years. Awesome group classes. Great machines. If something goes down little actual down time. People are friendly and helpful.
Staff is great, equipment is usually available depending on when you go.
The equipment is fine but the hours theyre open have decreased considerably while attendance has been increasing. Now if you try to go during what would normally be non peak hours, youll have to deal with larger crowds than before.
The hours SUCK now!! Absolutely terrible! Needs to be open longer. So much packed with students. This place sucks now! Makes me not want to go to shsu. CHANGE HOURS.
Convenient because membership is included in student fees already. Inconvenient because equipment is frequently broken for entire semesters, management is poor, and staff is out of shape and not representative of a gym atmosphere.
Staff member could have been more lenient with the bring your own towel policy. Especially when I made sure to clean my machine with a wet wipe.
Clean facilities and its about as run of the mill as they come for college rec centers.
Its small, could be bigger.
Nice
