I enjoyed playing on this course yesterday. For the first time of being frustrated, my driver somehow landed in a tree lol. The staff are very friendly and makes you feel right at home. I want to thank Tyler for taking the time to retrieve my driver. He didnt have to.but he made the effort. Thanks to the staff at the pro shop and the maintenance crew. I will definitely be back.

Spent a few days in the area recently on a golf getaway trip. Birkdale was the perfect ending! Beautiful course and layout. Green maintenance underway to add speed but still made for an unforgettable experience. Amazing hospitality from the staff, particularly the Starter. Very rare that you can spend a few minutes with a total stranger and feel comfortable enough that they are suggesting places to grab lunch after your round. Quite honestly, wished we could have added him as our 4th. Maybe next time!! Keep up the amazing work Birkdale!!

The course was well above average, challenging ball positioning for second shot. Had a ham and cheese on the turn, one of the best Ive ever had. Great people, plan on playing it again when in the area.

As an average golfer, I would NEVER play at Birkdale again due to one simple thing. CUT the grass just off the fairways. I spoke to numerous golfers and we all lost balls hit in the open just off the fairway. It was thick and fluffy. I am ok losing a ball when I deserve it, but not, literally, inches off the fairway. Simply sad. Other than that, this course could be really good. Nice people and beautiful layout and scenery.

Joined as a member a month or so ago. Best way to describe it is a nice hackers course. Course is usually in decent shape and for the members price I cant complain much. Wish the range was open to hitting off the grass tho.

I think it’s important to have class and etiquette especially in golf, so I will keep this classy and factual.Tremendous layout. Could be an awesome course. One of the most important parts of golf is the greens. These greens were not playable at all. I have played all over the country. I have never seen grass this long on greens. I would describe it as if I was playing a northern course in the winter where they remove the pins and put them in the fairway in front of the greens. Not to be rude; again just factual, that’s exactly how the greens looked. Only it was the actual greens. Which could be nice if maintained. I am being gracious with 2 stars because the course does have potential.

Booked a tee time over the phone. Went to check in and no records of me booking a tee time found. What a first experience with Birkdale.

Very enjoyable... score friendly if you hit your driver well...challenging though, because greens are well protected by bunkers. Staff was great! Beautiful scenery makes for a pleasant day out.First time there but I look forward to returning.

Wow! A true hidden gem in the northern Charlotte area! I visited this course from out of town and I played this once and enjoyed it greatly. I was scheduled to play North Stone the next day, but decided to just play Birkdale again! Fairways are the best I have ever stepped foot on. The greens are in great condition. THIS COURSE TRULY FELL FROM HEAVEN. TO EVERYONE READING THIS PLAY THIS COURSE. Can’t wait to come back.

Courteous & helpful staff, greens were in great shape, and the overall experience was excellent....especially for the price. I was concerned about it being noisy because of other reviews since its near 2 busy roads and there was essentially no noise pollution. Overall, a great experience and I will definitely play there again!

Loved this course back in the day, but then ownership changed hands and it went into decline... Apparently now has new ownership, and they are putting money back into the course and it shows... Fairways and greens were in excellent shape, and Ive always loved the layout... Staff were great, and my out of town guests enjoyed it so much, we played it twice! Keep up the good work Birdale!

Best shape the course has been in years..

Great course, very challenging to a player of limited skills (me). If youre like me, you can find plenty of shade from the unforgiving sun, by consistently placing your shots into the many beautiful trees. I only lost 4 balls in 18 holes! A good day.

Agree with recent comments: course is in amazing shape compared to the last--seems like--decade or so. Still have issues with pace of play but thats intermittent. Hopefully they can keep up the great conditions.

Nice course and looks great this Spring. Dean Riggs (PGA Pro) is awesome also. Always helpful and attentive to the grounds. His lessons at the range and course were a game changer for me and helped tremendously. Really looking forward to playing again at this location again!

I am only reviewing the clubhouse in which I attended a meeting. It was antiquated and in disrepair. The ceiling was bulging down in some areas from water leakage, the air conditioner only seemed to work in our meeting room (thank goodness it did), the 2nd story deck was rotten with holes, and the furniture was well-worn and outdated. The food that was catered, the Carolina BBQ option (hamburgers and hotdogs), was okay, but definitely not worth the 15 or so pp price listed in the brochure. Ending on the positive, the staff was nice and there was ample parking.

Played it for the first time last week. I really enjoyed the layout of the course, but the greens are just in horrible shape. No point in trying to read a putt when it’s just going to bounce the entire way to the hole. It wouldn’t be so frustrating if the price reflected the quality of the greens, but they are still charging relatively high fees to play here. I’d avoid this course until they put some TLC into it.

Great time there with my girlfriends taking a golf lesson. The instructor was very personable, informative & professional. The time was too brief in each station but our instructor told us about very inexpensive golf lessons that he offers at Birkdale & other nearby courses.

The course was in horrible conditions with divots all through the fairway, the greens in horrible shape and honestly it felt like highway robbery to pay $59 for a course in such poor condition. On one green my ball literally hopped two inches in the air instead of rolling smooth and this was more often the norm. It was Super Bowl Sunday and they didnt even have a cart girl running. The reason Im giving two stars is because its a good track/layout and the prices in the tavern at the turn were good.

The course and especially the greens were in terrible shape. On the green of #10 and the tee box of #11, we were forced to play through the sprinklers as the grounds crew stood there and watched us get wet. I would avoid this place, you can find much better value pretty much anywhere in the Charlotte area.

Much improved Arnold Palmer Signature golf course. Seems to be back on the right track and is one of the best layouts in the area. If you have not played in a while it is worth your time to go back and play.

I only gave it a star to post this... it’s a joke to have a golf course with such a great layout in such a busy area that probably plays slow on course look this bad year after year after year! I wouldn’t take my son out here if it was free

The past grounds crew was successful! New crew has been a bit shaky. But the course is a fantastic design and layout! Greens could be in a lot better shape but Ill give the new crew time! They just need to pay attention to easy detail like cleaning up the grass shavings!!!! They could lower adult prices but junior prices are great!

Great driving range to practice on and the prices are very fair. For about 27 bucks me and the father In-Law practiced for almost 2 and a half hours. Im new to golf but will be back again soon to practice some more.

This place is a shell of itself from years ago. Tee boxes not cut, fairways with chunks of sod taken out of them, greens with burnt and bald spots on them. The list goes on and on. Arnold Palmer would not approve of this preposterous excuse of a golf course. Charging 60 dollars to play 18 holes, what a joke! Stay away from this dumpster fire until they dump money into it once this supposed multi million dollar hotel is built.

Great course in great shape will go back

Most greens werent in great shape. At one point they had sprinklers spraying the green we were chipping onto and had sprinklers spraying the next tee box as we were teeing off. The rough on the fairways was long enough to not be able to spot your own ball while a few feet from it.

Dump... would have rather played mini golf... they even said things were looking good. if they were good i would hate to see them on a bad day

Played this golf course today. DO NOT WASTE your money!. Course is in terrible condition. Greens are sparse, bare, and bumpy. Sand traps havent been raked and are thin. Greens have not been blown off. Its as if nobody has even tried to work on the course. Very disappointed!

Improving but still huge chunks missing from the greens. Im surprised that Arnold Palmers people havent pulled his name from the course, because it has been in that bad of shape for so long. The location is the only thing that has kept it afloat.I will say that it is improving though. I went out for a round a few weeks ago and was not at disappointed as I thought I would have been.

The golf course is good for what they have like the driving range is well organized and well played out. So the course it self is well planed out it self.

Dont let the length of the course fool you. You will be surprised on how difficult this course can be. When the greens are firm, 3 putts are common

New management group as of July 3rd. Lets hope they restore this course to its full potential. Great layout, just not in the best of shape. I have faith it will be best course in the area.

Great layout, lots of challenges but always fair. Greens are true and play moderate pace. Bunkers are being worked, most are playable, some are not (very obvious) but are on the courses to do list. This course had financial troubles and was in bad shape a year plus ago, but they have made huge strides to not only be playable, but also be one of the best tracks in the area. A GREAT course for a fair price. Ive played a dozen rounds here and I will hopefully play another dozen.

The layout of this course is nice, but the greens are beyond terrible, and the clubhouse is literally falling apart. Put some money into this course... please!

Unkempt course and run down facilities. So many nicer options in the area for the money. Only plus, Arnies Tavern has good food.

Course design is as expected, risk reward, however course condition is poor. The course needs attention, either invest in the maintenance and improvement, replace the Superintendent, or both. It is a shame the course designed by Mr Palmer was overshadowed by it’s poor condition.

Tee boxes were in really rough shape. Very sad the course management has ruined a nice course. If it werent for a work event, I would not pay to play here.

I read a lot of reviews about this place being terrible in years past and I was told that it is now under new ownership and they are trying to bring the course back to its former glory.Its very obvious that they are working hard to improve conditions. Grounds crews everywhere. Tractors bringing new sand into the bunkers. The course itself was in very good condition. The places that need work are being addressed. Staff was very friendly. I would definitely play here again.

Wow what a comeback! New range balls, greens are perfect, all the bunkers are being rebuilt. Birkdale was down for a while but it seems like they are on the right track now.

The golf course is not in good shape in late April during a perfect spring. Way over priced and the guys at the front hustled us. The course was way over packed and the sold us 18 holes late in the afternoon with two groups ahead of us walking. There were many groups ahead of them and these guys never said a word. Feel like I was scammed.

Lobbing 25 yard chip shots on practice green when employee decides to go out and pick up balls right in front of me without a word. Tells me to just hit balls at him which I refused. Terrible customer service.

Snack bar needs improvement. Staff very nice. Course was nice. Slow play but it was the weekend.

The course layout is very good, however all of the bunkers were unplayable, the course can be challenging, which i like. the main issue was the course was completly overbooked, no starter around and groups were jumping ahead of groups making the turn at 10. our round took almost 6 hours to finish. It will be a while before I head back there.

Looks like the greens fees go towards beer fund instead of the greens. Wouldn’t play it again

This course is very run down, which was surprising because of the area and price they charge to play. Would never play it again or plus would not recommend it to anyone.
