Stopped in today for the first time in awhile. Everything was super clean, lots of people were wearing masks, got my temp taken, lots of sanitizing and hand sanitizer stations and a separate entrance and exit. Looks much better after the renovation too. Very impressed!
Ive been a member at Lifecenter for 2+ Years & Today was my first time back at life center since everything shut down earlier this year (Though we did use the outdoor pools over the summer) I am very pleased with how clean it was and the renovations look great!
Love this place! I have full access as a silver sneaker member no restrictions! The life Center is getting better and better. Not your typical crowd it’s very mixed in ages. The staff is extremely helpful and very friendly! I love that you see the owner on site working as well!! Just a good place to go!!
Always just a good work out and good staff
If you are going to play basketball here, do not. You can call them to ask when the court is open and they will say it is open until whenever, and you will get there and there will be people doing exercise classes or pickle ball(this has happened about 15 times). One time i was there and regular people(no staff workers) where about to start an exercise class and they would not let me on to play just before they started. They did not even have any equipment out. This was supposed to be and open gym time too. This place overall is not good, and do not come here if you are looking to play basketball.
The equipment is not in the best shape and they are very slow to fix broken machines. In fact there is one piece that has been out of order since Moses was in short pants! And they can’t even pony up the dough for extended basic cable so no Indians games. The only saving grace is the other members and their friendly dispositions.
Great Staff!!
Lifecenter practices unethical policies. When they sign people up, they go over a lot of material and have you sign a contract and give you lots of papers, telling you that when you want to cancel you have to physically go in and fill out a cancellation form.Even though I signed a six month contract, they continued charging me for two months because I did not recall anything about the cancellation form.Which most people don’t, based on the spiel that Sarah in Membership gave me. She flat out told me that most people don’t remember that, and it was clear from her tone of voice that she is used to giving the same speech on a regular basis, that “there is a clause, number 24, and we make everyone initial it but there’s a lot going on during signing so most people don’t remember it”.So Lifecenter KNOWS people won’t remember this part of signing up, but continues to do it in order to rip people off. They refuse to reimburse the months they charged beyond my contract, (and we were out of town for one entire month we were charged for).Sarah says they do it because they don’t know if people will want to stop their membership. Well, if I sign up for only a six month membership, that’s a clear indication I only want six months. And if I want to keep going, THEN I will re-sign.This is such a total scam! I cannot believe a local business is so unethical.I will never go there again and I would warn everyone against getting a membership there.
I have multiple kids currently enrolled in swim lessons. I was charged double for the lessons and have called numerous times to get the charge refunded but have still not heard back from anyone! Also tonight at the lesson a mother had to jump in to save her fully submerged 4 year old. The life guard did not even get up out of his chair to come speak to her. No one mentioned it almost as if they were trying to sweep it under the rug. Unacceptable. If you are a life guard on duty especially when swim lessons are occurring for small children you should be actively paying attention. Save your money and sanity and take your children elsewhere.
Left this place a while ago, but I had the same contract issues other people did and also hd very poor experiences with management. Seems like they really needed the extra membership fee they charged after I cancelled and wouldnt refund. Place is in a downward spiral for several years.Id highly suggest anyone reading this go elsewhere.
Great place to work out at and run.
Really disappointed with how I was treated here after the amount of money I’ve spent. The management is really awful. Plus, the facility itself is falling apart. The equipment is really old and everything is dirty. I had good experiences with personal training, but not much else.
My family will be joining later this month. Have visited twice and I really like the facility. There is a wide variety of equipment that is well maintained, a nice jogging track and many instructor led classes to choose from. The locker room is also very clean.
Absolutely Love this place! The daycare is great! Myself and children love coming here cant wait until summer to try the outdoor pools!!!
EXCELLENT service. Teamwork exercised not only on the court, but also carried throughout the staff positions. WTG, Lifecenter crew!
The swimming lessons are wonderful. All three of my kids can swim now. We did private lessons to start with and our teacher was great to work with. My kids really look forwards to going every week! THANK YOU.
This is definitely one of the best health clubs around. Not only is there a lot of classes and equipment available for adults, there is also a lot of classes and programs for youth. My boys love it in the winter when it is to cold to go outside.
They have 3 stationary bikes (not recumbent). 2 of them are from the 90s and don’t work. They will not let anyone use the spinning bikes unless there is a class. Absolutely not worth the money.Update: talked to the manager and they opened the spinning room for me to workout in as long as there isnt a class inside.
I would not recommend this gym. First off, I signed up in large part because they offer an Ashtanga yoga class. I attended the class after signing up and it had nothing to do with Ashtanga. I’m not sure how they are allowed to use that description. Second, I got a severe infection the first day I used the indoor pool. I was sick with flu-like symptoms for several weeks and had to get antibiotics. I’m not convinced of the cleanliness of the pool. I often swam and found various “things” floating around. There is also mold on the walls of the indoor pool. Lastly, I got a plantar wart using either the pool or steam room (which is also moldy). The gym refused to acknowledge any responsibility (there is absolutely no chance I could have gotten it anywhere else) and refused to budge or do anything on the yearly membership I signed up for. Needless to say, even though I still have to pay till the end of the year, I will not set foot there. The one thing I will say is that the outdoor pool is nice for kids, but having lost faith in the overall cleanliness of the place, I’m not going to take my son there anymore. I’ve switched him to the new Goldfish and we’re very happy there.
The indoor pool needs cleaned badly. Every week I go there, the brown floater count gets higher and higher :(. UPDATE--- June 2018. The pool has been both warm and clean. LCP has done a 180* turnaround and is now making sure things are in order and clean. No longer are there any mystery floaters in the pool. The staff is also super! Hats off to all of them.
I love LCP. I have been a member 9 years. They have a wide range of options so as I have moved from just swimming to swimming, spinning, running, yoga and weight training I have been able to stay at the same place (and spend the same amount of money). There is still more if I want. For pure yoga fans you wont find anyplace else with as many great classes all included for one reasonable price (they have a yoga-only option for even less if you want). Use me as your reference (maybe Ill get a sweatshirt or something!)
Good gym - can always get on machines and use weights. I would recommend it to anyone in the area.
Try LA Fitness, customer is always right with them. They have more gyms, and FAR more customers for a reason. Lifecenter plus is a MASSIVE waste of money for what you actually get.
I recommend the summer camps here are awsome if you are in the 8 to 13 you get to go on field trips you also get to go swimming from 11:00 to 12:45 but if you want to swim in the big pool you have to pass the swim test
Ive been a member since 2000, and its a great club. It doesnt get too crowded, and you dont get the meat-heads in the weight room that you get in other gyms. I like it because you get a pool, a track, full cardio and weight equipment, and a wide variety of classes, such as spinning and Pilates, which are both great. My kids went through swimming lessons, swim team, and numerous other kids activities, including magic classes and balloon classes, and climbing the rock wall. This is a great gym for an individual or a family.
All in all, Im pretty disappointed in this gym. For what you pay, you expect more. Life Center is almost 3-5 times more than other, newer gyms in the area. For starters, the elliptical machines in their environmentally controlled room have had problems for more than a year. Either the TVs dont work, the sound doesnt work, or the mechanics of the machine themselves arent smooth. This isnt new. This has been a problem for a year. Pads on equipment that has ripped arent replaced in a timely manner. (How hard is it to order a new pad and attach it to a leg raise / dip station?) Newer equipment, like kettle balls, remain locked, only for use with a personal trainer. And youve got to hope that the hot tub works or isnt cold. Then in the mens locker room, the hamper is broken. Really? You cant afford $5 at Big Lots to buy a new hamper? Then the really rich part, if you want to bring your kid, theyre going to charge you even more. We pay $100 a month to be a member at this gym, but I get better equipment at Fitness 19 or Fitworks for $10 a month. Sure the sauna and hot tub are nice (when theyre on or working), but is it really worth an extra $90 a month?
Was a member here for about 3.5 years. My contract was only 12 months but continued to use the gym. We cancelled when we switched our billing and they did not accept Amex. Then about 3 months later i get a letter saying we owed them about $400, now today I get a letter from a collection agency saying we owe almost $800. The gym was purchased out of bankruptcy and there was always issues. You could count on the steam room and the hot tub to be down at least once a week and after a flood, there was always a mildew smell. They seem desperate for money now.
Great facility and staff!
It the same price as other gyms with pools has basket ball also paddle ball tennis and the most important thing is the staff is very friendly .
I have been a member at LifeCenter Plus since 1994. Its where my kids learned to swim. They actually have 5 swimming pools -- My favorites are the large 25 meter pool with lap lanes and the warm water pool with a lazy river indoors. Oh yeah and the whirlpool!I love being part of their Spinning program -- going from being nervous about even walking into the class, to now one of the regulars in the group. I also like working out on the ellipticals but I end up watching TV instead of pushing myself!Yoga, Zumba, aerobics classes and even the travel group -- Ive tried a lot of different activities there -- but with hundreds of free classes every month, its easy not to get bored with the same old workout routine.
Need to upgrade their wi-fi network. Weak at best. In this age of mobile wireless technology they are sorely lacking at this facility. Expect your internet connection to drop frequently in the middle of workouts while listening to streaming music, video or other content. Frustrating when it happens in the middle of your workout particularly listening to music. Such an easy but relevant fix...make it happen folks...
I have been a member of a number of gyms including The Natatorium, Fitworks, Kent Recreation Center, and Fitness 19. There just is no comparison to how Life Center Plus feels compared to these other gyms. Life Center Plus is layed back, never uncomfortably crowded, people are friendly, and it offers so many classes and opportunities to work on ones well being. I have never felt out of place or unwelcome. My children have taken swim lessons and tried Karate. I have a trainer, whom I absolutely love, and I have tried Aqua and land Zumba. If you are looking for a family friendly facility where you can feel at home, this is the place. Another nice thing is that they provide towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner which make it super easy to decide to swim and not have to go through a big packing ordeal! For me, its been worth the price.
One of my favorite spots to go in the evening to work out the frustrations of the day
Lots of different things to do.
