Had an issue with a slight foreign object in my entree. Reported it to our waiter, who immediately escalated it to the manager, who immediately came over and make everything right again! Excellent service, excellent food! Cant wait to go back.

This is a pretty good restaurant. The food is what you would typically expect from a Bar and Grill and is good quality. Nice spot to meet with friends as it has a good atmosphere, and car watching in this area can be pretty decent. Alcoholic drinks can be a bit pricey depending on what you get, so make sure you check the price before you order.

Love the lodge look! Super cool, great food and drinks and beautiful view of the deck. Had the walleye dinner with to 5 oz fillets and it was seriously enough for two people, my girlfriend and I split it. Plenty of food for both. The wild rice soup was excellent and had lots of chicken in it which is often hard to find in a restaurant soup. Definitely worth the drive to go to dinner there, saw many other plates go by as they were being served and the food all looks phenomenal

Love this place service was great. Food was again awesome! I had ribs with Yukon gold buttery potatoes. My guest had chicken wrap and sweet potato fries everything was delicious. This place is huge! accomodations are a plentyIt has an inside, a patio and a underneath outside bar. Walking distance to the river Smiling Moose does not disappoint!

Update with details: Last Friday I was out with some friends and we decided to stop at the Moose, walking up we noticed bouncers with boxes of masks (I thought, how nice of them to hand them out if they are required at the indoor bar, but we are not going to the indoor bar we are going to the patio) They stopped us and said that masks are required. 2 of my friends already had masks but I left mine and my other friends masks in the car as no other bar was requiring them. My 2 friends enter and my other friend purchases a mask, one of my friends came out and said it was funny that “masks are required when no one is wearing one inside” They laughed at her… 3 grown men laughing at a woman who just pointed out the fact that if they are required inside, why is nobody wearing them? How rude… So, I told them I was not going to purchase one and they laughed and said that was fine and I walked in the bar, no mask, nothing. My other friend who purchased one asked for her money back as she had not put it on and had not entered. They then said that she needs to either move out of their way or they are going to ask her to leave. She was not being rude I was right there. I told them I was going to write a review and they laughed at me and told me to “go for it, nobody will reach out”The whole point of this is that if you are going to require masks at the door then you need to actually require masks, if you are just going to do it as a scam to make extra money at the door that is just wrong and that’s all it seemed was going on. I’m fine with wearing a mask but it does nobody any good if it is not something that is taken seriously, and quite frankly the bouncers/establishment were just taking advantage of people. I recommend opening up the entrance downstairs and hiring trained security. If my security guards I hire treated people the way the men, I met on Friday treated us they would be terminated immediately, I have zero tolerance for anyone who abuses power in the way I saw on Friday. They are still in customer service and should have high expectations for patron experience in mind always. I’m upset at the principle of all of this, scamming people is wrong and honestly being a local I will not be coming back which sucks because I used to really like this bar.I HATE to have to write a bad review like this but I really hope it helps in efforts to provide a better experience for customers in the future.

Been here several years ago and again last weekend to celebrate my daughters birthday. The food is delicious and generously served! Although we sat inside, they had live performance on the patio that played throughout the restaurant, so you didnt really feel you were missing out. I dont play slots, but for those that do, they have some. Bloody Mary was really good and the salmon was delicious! Prices were reasonable. Ill be back.

Food was super greasy, which was to be expected, but a lot was also totally bland and disappointing. Liked our waitress though, but she forgot us a lot and would leave mid-order.A very strange experience to be honest. Place was clean and drinks were good, when they werent forgotten to be brought to us (our waitress informed us someone had just left them on a counter for 20 minutes before we got them).

Food was very good. Staff communication could use a little work. Hostess staff was very interested in their personal communication and did not follow up with us to get a waitperson connected with us.No water or beverage service for nearly 20 minutes. I had to go up and ask someone to come to our table.Young crew.Ill give it another try.

Went to the smiling Moose for a burger today with my daughter. The food was good but probably the worst service I’ve had at a restaurant in at least 5 years. This young waitress gave us menus Then 15 minutes later I had to ask the bartender if I could get our waitress to take our order if she just forgot about us or what? Then a girl who was a food runner brought our food very pleasant and nice I ask her for a refill on my drink which had been sitting at the end of our booth for 10 minutes. She refilled it for me. Then after we were done eating waited another 10 to 15 minutes keep in mind still have not seen our waitress. Then had to ask the bartender again if I could have a to go box and maybe he could give us our bill. I have eaten at the smiling moose multiple times and never had service like this. The food is always been good. But to me when I have terrible service like this it is a huge turn off to me as I will not be returning to the smiling moose anytime soon!

Ordered the walleye and the chicken wild rice soup so good well worth the drive.

My drinks were too watered down, but the waitress with shot tray (Tori) was so nice and great at her job.

I went there for dinner and most of the staff wasn’t wearing a mask, with a mandatory Mask sign on the door. The margarita flatbread was disappointing, a lunchable pizza would have been better served. Fries undercooked.... maybe if the cooks weren’t so busy on the slot machines our food would have been cooked correctly.. but hey at least he had his mask on..,. Below his chin. Please spend your money at San Pedro or Pier 500.... or at McDonald’s....

It was a very unfortunate experience this evening. I came to the restaurant with my friend and was very disappointed with the service and food. This place did not respect social distancing, most employees are not wearing a mask including the bartender, the few that have masks on are using it as a chin guard, despite it is mandatory by the state. We both ordered st croix salad which is horrible, sorry but its garbage! We both asked for the check, paid and left. Its sad that we are doing our best to support local small business in this unprecedented time. I do not recommend this restaurant at all!

Good food, fun patio, a taste of normalcy. I had the chicken club with regular fries. We had a pretty good sized group but only had to wait 10 minutes for a table on the patio. Easy walk to the water if you take a boat to Hudson.

Great location to enjoy the Packer Game. Easy to get to from Minnesota if the game is blocked. Get there early to enjoy the drink specials and to get a seat. Plenty of TVs and very attentive staff. The food was very tasty and a lot of it.

Had dinner on the patio, food was good and service was fast and friendly. Would definitely return.

Nice to get out of Minnesota for a walk and a bite, but just average bar food. Waited forever for our food in a half full lower level. Ordered the sampler platter and couldnt even finish it. Will try another place next trip back to Hudson. Beers were good and cold.

Poutine is spot-on! Steak bites are wonderful. Fried pickles are great, too.

From the time that we ordered our food almost an hour passed before it was served....cold. The sirloin was ordered rare and served cooked all the way through and completely cold. My half chicken was cold, bland and dry. No one one in our group of three was happy with the food or the half hearted apology offered by the staff.

Every person from the door to the payment of bill was so friendly, atmosphere was great. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I would 100% recommend and will revisit the Smilin Moose.

Food once we got it was OK. Waiting and waiting and waiting for service, drinks, waitress, anybody to help us was another story. I would give the 14 staff people that were aimlessly walking around ( yes I counted as we waited since all had same uniform shirts on ) a pass if the place was full of customers. I also had plenty of time to count the 6 other tables with customers which hardly put a dent in the available seating capacity. I suppose it would not have seemed so bad if 2 of the 4 of us did not face the bar and pointed out to us all the staff visiting with one another. It was maddening to watch one after another staff member walk past us as if we did not exist, stroll out to the outdoor seating area, make a lap and then stroll back past and rejoin the staff grouped at the bar. If you do not mind the complete disorganization and general apathy we received from all staff the food really was not that bad. Then again there are a lot of places with good food and for us the poor experience left a bad taste in our mouths the food could not overcome. We wont be back.

Nice bartenders and friendly staff through hard time!I was there on memorial day and surprised at how hard they worked but my party and i unsettled by the Minnesota state (judging by ALL THE MN LICENSE PLATES in town) and other people were very rude.Not a good way to treat the some of the only places that are open during this time when and Minnesota establishments are closed.You could always go back to your neighborhood and try on a holiday.Just a thought. Thank you!

Rude and embarrassing service. Ruined the mood of the night and felt on edge and very uncomfortable from the managers or security’s (not sure who she was) dirty looks during our dinner because of a misunderstanding that happened right when I walked up that could’ve been handled way differently by this employee. All of us are definitely not coming back, too bad because we really liked this place before!

Very good food, we tried apps and burgers.I am very picky about my fries being crispy. They got it just right. Burgers cooked as expected and seasoning of beef is terrific.Someone needs to provide training on how to pour beer into a growler. When we got home to enjoy our beer it is completely flat.

This is a nice sports bar with a nice broad, menu. It was a place that we could have conversation over a nice meal. The staff were nice, the manaver evdn checking on us.

It is in Hudson, WI close to the lake front on the St. Croix River, it is a busy place, it has up and downstairs dining areas, both have bar service. Staff is friendly but busy. Food is good, drinks are good.

Had the best waiter ever. He didnt insist on small talk, just did his job quickly. I look forward to coming back so I can not talk to him about frivilous things again. Food was good, too.

Great friendly atmosphere. Really enjoyed the sweet potato fries & bourbon bacon burger with a Summer Shanty watching the mighty Mississippi on a beautiful Saturday evening.

Staff was not wearing masks nor enforcing social distancing. We saw several staff members stand outside and vape over by the outdoor server station and on our way out we watched our server cough right into her hand. The service overall was OK but if you are at all concerned about the current pandemic maybe go to a different place

My crew left this place with less than a smile. While visiting from Alabama on 7/15/20 with some of my friends and some friends from Minnesota we decided to try out the Smilin Moose. I should lead with the fact it was approximately 830pm and the restaurant was nearly empty. At the start our waiter Landon was amazing. After ordering our drinks and food we noticed a Touch Tunes machine on the wall. Since we had all come together for a music event we thought it fitting to play some music. We took turns suggesting songs and built up a smaller playlist that had approximately 10 songs on it. After about 5 songs the manager came to our table and said are you the ones playing music on touch tunes. We replied, of course, with yes. He then proceeded to say that he was hearing a lot of metal music (he was) and that it was family hour and could we just hold off adding anymore music and let what we had on our list just play out. Frustrated, we agreed and did not add any other songs to our playlist as he requested. When our 3rd to last song started to play, the bartender was told to unplug the machine and she did. Even after doing what was requested of us we were still punished for a lot of metal music in addition to losing the credits in Touch Tunes. Agreeably those credits did not cost much money and this review is not about money. It is about the fact we felt targeted because of the music we were playing. If you do not want that type of music played in your establishment then take it off your selections or turn it off during family time. The icing on the cake is when the same manager brought out one of our meals he announced hamburger, no bun......................... it was a sirloin steak!!! Learn your menu sir and respect everyones choice in music else remove the machine. A complaint has also been entered with Touch Tunes about your behavior!!!! Enjoy

Waited 30 minutes for drinks, which isn’t a huge deal (I get it your busy.) But when I had to flag the bartender down for our tabs she looked at us and goes “what do you want.” Very unprofessional staff which is unfortunate because the place is pretty. The other bartenders upstairs were at exceptional!

I go with my wife to this lovely spot a lot! This is my favorite place to to have a good dinner. I go there at least once a month. The cooking is great, the staff members are professional and the payment is reasonable. I like being in this restaurant to have a rich meal.

Poor food, but even worse is there is no social distancing, no masks required even by staff. Will no longer support this business or the other businesses they own.

The decor is so inviting, the service and food is simply amazing. The menus are simple. And its inexpensive. Great place for date nights or even a family dinner! I highly recomend this place...but make sure youre really hungry cause man do the portion sizes come big. Amazing...simply amazing! I will be returning again and again!

; Minnesotan resident here! We came out there for a buddys birthday from Minneapolis. At our age now, we normally dont go out much at bars like this anymore, but this was fun. They played a bunch of R&B & hip hop old school music plus top 40s.My favorite part of this experience is ordering a Jameson and ginger ale. I believe they had added bitters to it and if they did, not sure what kind of bitters was added. If someone can respond and confirm, thatd help me add some spice to one of my favorite drink.

Denied Service. Told Kitchen closes at 9:30 at 9:24, Denied service bc it was 6 minutes before closing. This to me is illogical. Just close the kitchen at 9:20 then it wouldnt be offensive at all. We even asked politely and told them we would order within the time limit. No other place was open so we had to go hungry ️

Stopped here after a spur of the moment trip to Hudson from southern Minnesota for lunch. Was not disappointed at allI had the post roast sandwich and was very impressed. The nacho appetizer was fantastic. Would love to come back!

The new Seasonal Goat Cheddar Cheese burger is the best burger Ive had from a restaurant and a very long time!!! Highly recommend it, the flavor is unbelievably amazing. Also my girlfriend got the Salmon BLT also from the seasonal menu and that was incredible as well. The size of fish you get is perfect and she loved it. Will be back here once a week for the amazing food and amazing staff that they have

Delicious tots, sweet potato fries, and the best impossible burger Ive ever had. I actually thought they made a mistake today and gave me a beef burger...thats how good it was! Cute interior, clean and spacious bathrooms,and dog friendly patio in the summer. We ️the Smiling Moose!

I understand that our waitress was fairly new, but it took 10 minutes to get a beer for myself and soda for my son. When she finally did come back to take our order, I had remind her that we were given a choice of soup and salad with our sirloin steak. I then also had to remind her that we had a choice of a side also. We choose the soup which I must say was the best part of the meal even though she forgot to bring it to us. When she finally came around to see that our glasses were empty I asked about the soup. She then asked if we wanted it before our entree. We said yes which we probably shouldnt have because Im guessing our steak was ready and she waited to bring it to us to give us a chance to eat the soup because everything was cold on the plate. She never came back around until it was time to hand me the bill.

I have eaten here twice and really enjoyed the food. Every one I came with enjoyed their food too.

Although we shouldn’t get our own table we sat at the bar and it was delicious and got the customer service was phenomenal as well as my food !

Chicken and ribs was great and they have the best Tots! Crunchy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside with the signature Cajun dipping sauce. It is not spicy at all btw.

Went for the Packers vs Raiders game and sat outside on the patio. Picture perfect fall day. The wings are amazing! $3.00 shot specials every time the Packers score a touchdown and prize drawings throughout the game. Great place to catch the game with your football family. Highly recommend!
