Love the festivities they do for holidays. Kids love the place. I dont like it when they tell you cant sign up for something unless you sign up for another 10 year membership.

Daughter’s high school volleyball banquet was being held here. She was ordered by her school to stay home as she was in contact with someone that tested Covid positive at school. We asked Waldenwoods for a $45 refund (3 tickets) and they said nope. Great look during these times.

The resort, beach, water sports, camp ground, restaurant are all fabulous! There are walking/hiking trails (not for those with mobility issues). My only complaint is the lodge we stayed in (I think Friendship Lodge - it is the farthest one away from the restaurant). It is horribly outdated. I mean horrible. I get that its a hundred year old building but truthfully thats just the shell. The inside looks like it was decorated in the 80s. There is NO air conditioning. It would be an easy fix to install stand alone air conditioners in each room. The rooms are relatively small (no big deal). In our room there was one double bed and a cot I got the cot. There were no pictures, decorations or mirrors in our room. At least a mirror would be a beneficial addition and proper curtains that actually covered the windows. The bathroom shower was disgusting and old. Some relatively easy and small updates would make a world of difference. Im not sure if the other lodges or cottages are the same but I wouldnt go back to stay unless assured that there were some basic updates. I would definitely go to camp. The draw to this place are the amenities listed at the beginning of this post. The grounds are lovely and the sunsets spectacular. The upside at the lodge I will say is the ability to have a campfire which was really really nice.

Mostly good and would definitely recommend to others looking for a wedding venue.The good:- Food was delicious- Did a great job with food/drink service, especially with keeping it safe during COVID-19- Beautiful venue - tent looked stunning and the personal touch service is definitely worth it!The bad:- Poor customer service - often times our phone calls and emails were ignored, or when we did talk to someone we ended up having to call/talk again because the changes were never written down. Also the day of the ceremony the wouldnt come and clean the goose droppings from the outdoor site until guests were already being seated.

This place is extremely disappointing. My husband and I unfortunately chose to book Waldenwoods as a venue for a delayed wedding reception for June of next year due to Covid cancelling our original wedding in Traverse City in June 2020. After a few months of ups and downs with our wedding and personal life due to Covid we decided for multiple reasons that we were not able to continue with the reception next year at Waldenwoods. When we contacted the property to explain the situation we were left with a response of pretty much “sorry, nothing we can do. good luck”. Given the situation we were willing to be flexible but were hoping the property would have been more compassionate and understanding in these times. We have sent multiple emails and made multiple calls to upper management over the past 3 weeks and have yet to receive a response from anyone. The lack of communication, professionalism and overall message from this venue is astounding. My husband and I are in businesses were we are forced to be flexible with customers due to covid everyday. More importantly though we understand a customer is not just a number, they are a relationship and during these times, we need to take care of them. If you are thinking of planning a wedding in the next few years, stay far far away from Waldenwoods. You will end up being a contract, not a bride.

Really enjoyed our stay at Waldenwoods. I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would, my biggest concern being how packed it is. But I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed staying in F row along the trees, it’s very quiet during the week. The people at the gate are very friendly, and there is a lot to do for everyone. Pool, lake, boating, trails.

The Majestic is a excellent test of golf. One of the most scenic courses you will ever play! Go check it out you will not be disappointed!!

Waldenwoods is a beautiful clean family fun place. You can relax or get plenty of exercise camping or canoeing or paddle boating or swimming or hit the courts. You can stay at your own camper or rent a hotel room. The staff and members are always nice. The restaurant is very nice too.

Hidden gem! I never knew this place existed until I went there for a work retreat. Great place for a family reunion, girls weekend, bridal shower or even a wedding! Highly recommended.

The place is very rustic and quiet and peaceful very wooded I think Id try to get on Higher Ground even though its a little more ways from the water. We got a great spot so its by the newer bathroom near the beach its lot d-33 nice lot and the employees are are great.

Worst investment/time share, incompetent staff. They constantly lose your payment, SAVE your receipts! Weve paid them put us on a site, only for them to stick a note on our camper saying to register. Im sorry, but we paid you to put us on a site, you should KNOW what site were on. Not only that, they have given us the wrong information on what site they put us on. I cant wait for this membership to end!

Well kept campground. Spacious sites, lake with clear water and fun stuff to do.

Nice quiet, and comfortable.we went swimming in the lake and the swimming pool, we kayacked and took the bike/hiking trail which had lots of hills. Very nice two days, looking forward to more

This private resort is the perfect getaway in Michigan! Located in Howell, MI...and has so many fun activities on Lake Walden! Outdoor swimming pool, indoor sauna and jacuzzi, sandy beach, boating, kayaking, paddle boards, a game room/activity center...the list goes on and on! Gorgeous views! Got home last night and I was bummed to leave!

It was so hot there. They should really do something about the heat. Like outdoor air conditioning.. lol

Got married here! This place is the perfect wedding for people wanting great view and great set up at a reasonable rate. Definitely had an amazing wedding there. Food was great and staff was amazing. The fact that I have found the perfect woman to marry made it perfect. Definitely recommend this place for any wedding.

This place is way over rated. Was a vendor there for a wedding. They had 3 weddings going. They had the signs pointed the wrong way to each wedding. Went to where signs led me. Was wrong spot. Went to where they said the right spot was. Nope was wrong again. Finally found it. The rooms were ugly. Very out dated. The view was nice but if u were outside all u could here is the blend of the 3 weddings music going on. The staff wasnt that friendly and the food was horrible. There are little shacks all around that look dilapidated. The roads are two tracks that look like a big mess if it was to rain. Not looking forward to my next experience there.

Attended a wedding reception here. While the venue is not new or modern, it is gorgeous and rustic. The old windows, real fireplaces, and aged wood make a great backdrop for a reception or party. This place sits next to a large lake with great views, even in the winter. Staff was incredibly friendly and professional. Would also make a great corporate event location.

Oh my goodness! Imagine everything you know about an average campsite bathroom, basic cement room with a drain in the floor? Not this place! This beautiful place is amazing, tile floor wooden walls and you can go in the bathroom barefoot unafraid! The site is great for camping, the pool is heated and theres a spa to relax in! The rangers all seem to be courteous and helpful. Theres even a beach where you can rent boats and ride the lake with a beautiful view of the lodges that you can rent out.

I love going here its fun i plan on bringing my son more when he can walk but they really need to do something about the caterpillar problem they make your fingers numb and hurt

We used Waldenwoods for our wedding on 4/27/19 as the Venue. We booked the Cromaine Hall and were blown away by the servers, bar tenders, chefs, and any other admin staff. Everyone was so nice and efficient. Being the groom and bride the Event Manager ensured that we were taken care of making sure we were on time, had food, drinks, etc. BLOWN AWAY. They also made sure that our families were taken care of as well as our groomsmen and bridesmaids. I could not have been happier. The food was delicious, the setup was perfect. Everything went right and I could contribute that to the staff at Waldenwoods! Everything being all inclusive helps so much for us to keep costs a bit lower for what we wanted. We had originally booked elsewhere but ended up booking at Waldenwoods due to the all-inclusive costs and were able to get exactly what we wanted for a lower price than where we had booked. I cannot say that everyone will have a lower cost but still.... we were happy with our choice of Waldenwoods.

We are always happy to come to Waldenwoods to camp. Could not stay in usual spot due to excessive rain Michigan has received recently. In the 70s, sunny and a breeze. What more can someone ask be for in Michigan. If you want to course raps around the park. Beech with plenty of toys. Activities, exercise room, pool and spa.

We spend almost every day in the summer here! We live locally and thoroughly enjoy our social membership!

Waldenwoods is a beautiful venue. If you are looking for a vintage look that is absolutely magical this is the place. The food was great, the staff professional and the grounds and buildings beautiful. We looked and many places and my daughter wanted a smallest wedding with a cozy warm feeling and Waldenwoods fit the bill. The lodge has beautiful view of the lake, where we had the ceremony by the lake and the reception in the lodge. If you are looking for a personal tasting experience you will be disappointed Waldenwoods does tasting parties once a year. The downside to these is that you might not get to taste all the food on their menu before you event. Having said this all the food we sampled at the tasting was excellent and I dont think we could have made a bad choice. The lodge is gorgeous and needs very little decorating. There are vines w/lights in the ceiling, five fireplaces and huge windows on each side of the room. The bathrooms are upstairs and one single handicap restroom near the kitchen on the first floor. We did use the bridal suite upstairs which is helpful when you have a lot of women trying to get ready or need to go freshen up during your event. The only problem we had was the a/c stopped working and it got quite hot. Also we were suppose to get champagne for mimosa but it never showed up. The other con to Waldenwoods that I feel is important to mention is that they charge a 20% gratuity on the whole bill. When we questioned if this was just on the food and bar they said, No its on everything. Its actually more like a service charge. So we were charges an extra 20% on our ceremony site, the bridal suite, the grooms room, extra tables, and the linens, chargers and chairs we rented from the vendor that Waldenwoods required us to rent from. So just be aware this additional cost can add quite a bit to the final bill. Overall, this a beautiful venue and it was a magical day.

Very nice and friendly very clean campsites

The concept of the family oriented campground is wonderful! Our kids love camping here and playing at the beach, pool and playground. Unfortunately there are a few areas that need improvement. There are many things that need to be fixed or updated such as the chairs at the beach and pool are broken and need to be repaired or replaced, most of the furniture and equipment in the clubhouse is outdated and in need of being replaced. The other thing that is bothersome is that the older employees at the store and pool are constantly unfriendly and in a bad mood and seem to be annoyed with children which is unfortunate especially since this is a family oriented campground.

Great place to unwind with your family. Spend time relaxing on the shores of the lake, say hi to the geese or enjoy the sun on the paddle boat. The staff was extremely friendly and made the visit extra special.

I just joined Waldenwoods but I remember being a part of this resort as a young adult with my dad. Its the feel of Pure Michigan here, home away from home.

Family friendly campground at a beautiful lake. Sites are level and spacious, mostly on grass. There a small beach at a clean lake. Activities include Wibits (the bouncy play structures on water), a well designed playground, fishing, kayaking and a well-stocked indoor activity center.

I was here for a wedding in November. The place was beautiful. The food was good. The staff was outstanding.

The grounds are absolutely beautiful! Everything is so well kept. The new renovations to the bath house and pool bathrooms are absolutely gorgeous. This place is not what you would expect when you think campground. The staff is all amazing, from the store workers, to the office, to the rangers. Would rate at six stars if I could!

Amazing place or go!

Pretty but everything else is terrible. No half way house and only saw the cart girl twice. Finally got a hot dog on the 13th, but it was burnt and black. Then our cart ran out of gas so we had to wait and let two groups pass us. Then its so backed up we were waiting 10-15 minutes on each hole. We wont be coming back.

My parents have a membership to this place, and I hang out with them there sometimes. Its a nice campground with nice people. We had an issue with the Saturday breakfast buffet once because my mom is medically gluten free, and she emailed the campground asking why she couldnt get the gluten free food from the kids working there as advertised. The response was excellent. Shes had issues at a lot of restaurants and venues since she stopped eating gluten, and this is one of the few times that our concerns were taken seriously. I really appreciate that. Plus, the whole place is beautiful and conveniently located. Its just far enough away to be away and close enough that I can go visit them on a Saturday. I recommend Waldenwoods if youre interested in a campground membership.

The venue was beautiful, however the food was a bait and switch the day of our son’s wedding. They had originally tasted dishes that were excellent prior to booking, but at the wedding served dry, over cooked chicken and dry tasteless sirloin. In addition, Guests had to wait over an hour after the wedding party was served, seemingly due to service being completely understaffed. In addition, sheet cakes were cut hours prior to dinner and left to dry out. Such a disappointment and very unprofessional....I suppose if you want camp food at high dollar, this is your place.

Signed up at a campershow to do the tour. Was told no pressure, we know your not going to buy. We went with a friend and they were told sorry with out your husband u can. Not do the tour. Not once in any statement did it say you must bring your spouse. Not in the email not in the voicemail confirmation. Very disappointed in the management when their employees lie right to your face that the said this in the email and voicemail I have proof on both they did not. Not to mention the hour drive to get there. Just beware if you go to have the family go with u!!!! Don’t let them lie to you!!!!!

Great place to camp

Great campground, clean with plenty to do. The campground has a private lake with many boats and water toys for rent. There is a restaurant on the grounds as well.

I wish I could give zero stars, but they dont allow. PLEASE, think twice before these long contracts that are TOTALLY written in a way that they can do whatever they want and charge you whatever they feel like for ANYTHING! Over the years of being a member, we say more electric charges, sites that we like permanently reserved for their friends, boat fees go through the roof from what we signed up to and more! They are incredibly rude and their only goal once you sign up is that you dont show up! Costs them less!

This place was wonderful.

Was outdated and the free wifi they offer is slower then dial up. The amenities are not up to par. Now the best part is the beach and the playground and water bounce they had for kids. Why I gave a 3 my grand kids loved it. Plus they are in the middle of most tourist hot spots 20 minutes to a hour drive to reach them. My suggestion book a hotel close by and pay for a day pass at the entrance. You will save alot of money and be more comfortable then staying in one of their cabins.

I simply can’t say enough good things about Waldenwoods! The day my husband and I went to tour Waldenwoods, we instantly knew they had found their dream venue. We wanted to find a wedding venue that was on the water and would allow our friends and family to stay on site overnight, so Waldenwoods was everything we were looking for and more. PLUS, the entire staff at this beautiful venue is absolutely amazing!!

So peaceful. We went to visit family friends at their campsite and didnt even realize we were less than 5 miles away from our own home. It had a comfy cozy up north feel to it. Our children loved it there as much as my husband and I did.

We’ve been members here for 4 years! This review is solely based on the lady that works in the front office for member services!.(Not Mary Ann).. we’ve never encountered someone so rude. She argues with members and hangs up on us when she realizes she’s wrong! My membership is up next year and will not renew if she is still in the office!

We like it here, other campers are very nice and respectful, water is crystal clear and no gas motors on lake is nice.

Very cozy, boat rentals are fun, nice trails. Weddings can be a bit loud across the lake sometimes, but they quiet down before midnight.

Kids had a wonderful time.

The rooms were a good size. The water in the shower smelled and was full of iron. There was a small TV and a fan for each room. The camp was very nice and they few us both breakfast which was very good as well as dinner. They had some old lawn games and I enjoyed playing them. They have hiking trails and the staff was very nice. I recommend staying there again if I have the chance. We stayed in the sunshine room.

Stayed overnight for a wedding. Food and venue were excellent. The view over the water was perfect for pictures and setting. So many people complimented just how beautiful everything was. The room was stayed in was a queen bed with bathroom. Small but thats really all you need when going to sleep.

I visited here for a wedding and it was one of the most beautiful locations Ive been to. The restaurant was a beautiful building with a great view over the lake. The staff was great and the good was delicious!

Great setting, buildings are older but well maintained.
