This is what is really great about this park - The area to walk or ride your bike or play sports in the field is spacious, well manicured, and it provides a lot of space where you dont feel crowded. The kids have an ample amount of playground equipment to play on, theres bench seating throughout, a large covered area with electrical outlets, picnic style seating, a grill and a restroom nearby. There is a volleyball court available as well as a splash pad. One downfall to that splash pad is that the benches surrounding the splash pad on not covered so you are exposed when the sun/heat is high, but the tables with benches that have covering are a little too far back for my liking because I like to be right there to watch my four-year-old the entire time. Unfortunately, it has been my experience several times that parents get a little too comfortable with leaving their children to play in these splash pad or playground area, and I have had to track some parents down because their little kids, 3-4 year olds are running off, but the parent is too busy in their phone to notice. You are going to get a mix of ethnicities here OVERALL. This is not in an overall pretentious area so you are going to get the 11-12yo/ teenager neighborhood kids hanging out here, & you might have to tell them to watch their language and/or be careful to watch out for the little ones playing, but overall it is not much of a problem. The area is kept pretty nice over all except for those inconsiderate, trashy people that like to litter...sorry, I cant stand people that litter, but it is a really nice park, & there are accessible trash receptacles everywhere. Dogs are allowed on a leash, but there are signs that tell you to pick up after your dog, as one should anyhow, but if it becomes a problem they will ban pets over all. This really isnt too much of a problem or has not been except during the 1st phase of Coronavirus quarantine when more people were getting out of the house and heading to the park. If you try to come around or after 5:00 p.m. any day of the week - parking is going to get hectic because thats when people come to get their exercise in, have games on the soccer field or football on the other side or play baseball so plan accordingly!!

Really nice quiet place to ride your bike, walk your floofsters, your kids, your own lazy self. Soccer fields, huge playground, bike and walking tracks, benches and some river. Also, there are some kind of work out mashines along the way. Not sure, if they work though What else you need on a day off.

This park is so nice and clean. It has a really big hill that makes it different than a plain old flat park. This is probably one of the better parks Ive been to in the Houston area. Grills, gazebos, clean bathrooms, a little wooded area that has a trail which is fun for the kids to explore in without actually going into woods and getting lost. Overall McClendon Park is really a neat hidden gem. With such a great hill they should show movies outside on cool fall nights. Just a thought

The park has an expansive playground that accommodates various ages and abilities. There is a pavilion with picnic tables that can be rented for parties. There are restrooms available and also a small splash pad for the summer. There is a walking trail that circles the park and seems to be used pretty much all day into the evening. There is ample parking. This park is less than 10 mins from my house but I do not take my kids there very often for the specific reason of the extremely creepy people who frequent it. I felt as though if I took my eyes off my child for even a split second to check on one of my other kids, she would be snatched and kidnapped. I am not generally a paranoid person at playgrounds but this playground repeatedly attracts creeps and shady looking individuals. As a female I would never walk alone in this park without a dog or mace.

McClendon Park is very family friendly. The splash pad has intermittent water fountains. There are a plethora of swings for babies and toddlers. There are also swings for children with special needs. The slides and climbing areas are enjoyable and challenging for older children. For the adults, there are barbecue pits and comfortable seating. Moreover, the walking trail is available for aerobic exercise. Alas, this park makes us Houston Proud!!!

I think this is a great place to get some walking done and riding your bikes.I just wish people would keep their dogs on a leash and those riding thier bikes would be a little more considerate when passing people.I think my biggest pet pea is when people let their dogs use the bathroom on the walk path and not pick up after them.

This park is a hidden gem. The playground equipment is great for toddlers through early teens with separate climb and slide playsets with younger kids on one side of the playground and the older kids on the other. Also has a splash pad play area. There is a huge covered pavilion equipped with grills, tables, and seating that runs the length of the playground. There are plenty observation bench seats around the play areas for parents to keep an eye out. There are multiple gazebos outside of the play area with tables and seating as well. Right behind the large pavilion (down the hill) is a huge lot for soccer. To the left of that is more field for any other running games such as football. The park is also equipped with frisbee golf and an exercise/walking trail. There are many hills as well that could serve for exercise. There is an observation deck to view the natural plant life and all the ecosystems they gemerate. Dogs are also allowed at this park, so please be kind and pick up after them as no area of this park is off limits for it use of fun or exercise.
