Be careful when you go. Pay a coverage charge and then they do races. The voicemail said one price but then when you get to the door is another price. Not to mention the kids doing skate rental are rude. I mean Gen Z like no other. It should be $6 charge including rental cause we do races kick everyone off the floors. I asked about the races and Karen said it’s 5minues. Well guess what Karen that’s 5min I paid for and can’t skate. I will most likely not come back to this place.
It was extremely crowded, but since there arent a lot of skating rinks in the area, thats to be expected. But an establishment that has been in business that long should not run out of food, they should be prepared. There was no chili for the hot dogs or frito pies. They were out of Dr. pepper, had to get coke instead. You stood in line and watched the workers pass you up several times without asking if youd been helped. They need more dipping sauces for the chicken, there werent enough eating utensils. The food area needs to be managed better.
I’ve been to many rinks in Houston and this place is by far one of the best. They do a great job maintaining their floors and keeping a positive atmosphere. Thursday nights are adult nights that features the widely known DJ wild child. I drive weekly from humble just so I can skate with my skate Fam!
I’m rating for only 3 stars here is why.So my husband and I knew our daughters were really bored from quarantine. And we knew that they were bored from only going to the park, so we looked online just to see when is this roller skates rink open. So A few weeks ago, my husband calls them, and whoever answered the phone was so rude, and cut him off when he was just asking about the hours, and asking what food did they have. So that upset us. But again, it’s for our daughters to have fun so we said just whatever. Fast foward we go here, and the enter fee and the skate renting fee is separate. So if you bring your own skates, you don’t need to pay renting fee. However, what did upsets us, is that our daughters are 5 and 7, they are not to good at roller skating yet. So we simply ask where do get a training stroller to help them learn, and it was 10 dollars for each training stroller! It wasn’t even free, like I understand if it was included in the price, but it was another 20 dollars we had to spend on the training stroller. That’s the most ridiculous thing ever. So not only do we payed for a entering fee, skate renting fee, but 20 extra dollars for the training strollers! We were so upset at this. But we want our daughters to have a good time so we just let it go. While our daughters skated on the rink, my husband and I sat in the little food court section, and watch our daughters skate. We were going to eat there, but it wasn’t the food we wanted, so we ate lunch elsewhere when we left.I guess however tho, that our daughters look like they enjoyed the rink! They had fun, so we were happy for that. Also any other parents reading this, if you have smaller kids, you might want to help them skate, or keep a look on them, because there’s teenagers who goes tooo fast and it’s scares the kids. And your kid might fall. So just make sure that you are okay with this.
Its was fun but the roller skates/ blades were so uncomfortable one lap around the rink would make your feet cramp. And the roller blades need to be replaced or at least the padding inside the blades. Otherwise the music is great, and there was lots of room to skate.
Nice rink for the kids. The only thing I dont like is that the floor is small. But manage able. I like the fact that if your not skating they dont charge you just to come in and watch.
8$ admission not bad if you bring your own skates! My little sister had a blast! Great music
My son had his 5th bday party here the staff is rude. My sister was turnt around because she had a tube top on not to mention that their were several other females in the rink with the same type of shirt on the only difference was the skin color when I bought it to their attention they didn’t care an stated they would make an announcement that was never made an slammed the window in my face would not recommend going here
It was great, i didnt skate, someone else did, but i walked around several times. The music was fantastic!!!! After my walk, i sat down and enjoyed it. It brought back such memories!!!
It was awesome! I havent been to this place since I was 12 yrs old.the kids loved it! The only thing I found wrong was the eating area floor was very sticky!
My son seems to love it, and I guess I remember coming here over 30 years ago!!
The staff is rude!! Went there today with a couple of my friends and the lady at the front was straight up rude and giving us attitude for no reason. My friend tried making conversation with her by complimenting her jewelry and she ignored her. The guy at the skates station was also rude, and most importantly, most of the staff was not wearing a mask!!
Ran down...Expensive pizza and it taste terrible. I 10 out of ten reccomend not getting g it. No refills on their 3.00 large drinks thats basically a medium. The ice water they serve taste like a medical glove soaked into it and let us drink it, and the servers at the food bar were EXTREMELY rude.I will not be coming back here with my family... ever.No ATMs on property and the drink and snack machines only took cash. So we had no choice but to be over charged or drink feet water.Terrible. You can tell they are on their last leg and I see why.
Very affordable. They didnt charge extra for rollerblades or the training wheel thing like most places. Clean facility. Staff was friendly and helpful.
The DJ is the bomb!!! Plays great music for the crowd
Definitely one of my favorite rinks, the music is always on point, adult night on Thursdays is always the best!
Made me feel like a kid again the walkers helped the kids immensely everyone enjoyed themselves
My grandson has been going to this rink for almost two years religiously. He was so excited when it reopened recently. However him and the regular group of teen youngsters who frequent this place are very upset with the owner. Last Saturday they only had one race. The events like races is what the older kids live for. When approached and asked about more races the lady told them I dont have to do any. The youngsters told her that if she could not work with them on races they would go elsewhere to skate. She said if that is what they wanted they could go.I find this lady repulsive to turn on the very core of her business. This group of kids are there EVERY Saturday. You would think after closing down for months due to Covid 19 this woman would welcome her regular loyal customers back. But no she seems intent on running them off. What a fool!!!!
Very clean and well run with a happy helpful staff and great music. Feels very nostalgic and everyone has a great time, even when they fall, haha!
The music was terrible. It was a total waste of time and will never be attending on a Saturday again.
Super fun!! If youre a little rusty and want to avoid possibly falling on kids or teenagers go skate on Thursday night instead, its adult night and they play pretty good music and its so cool to watch some of the more seasoned skaters show off their moves. I particularly like when they do the Houston Slow walk
Its a very fun place to roller skate
Clean, staff was attentive & friendly, and prices affordable.
We brought our tween and teen here for a family day. We had a great time. Everyone was really Friendly.
Clean and great place for a kids party
I attended a sponsored event there, and it was really nice. I especially enjoyed the races. The staff was very nice. Great family fun.
Super fun. Go here all the time. Love the races and the music. Very child friendly.
Cashier at food stand could have better customer service
Cool place to take your kids. My only concern is that there isnt any staff to keep the advanced skaters out of the area for the newbies to practice and get comfortable. The advanced skaters zoom thru there with the skatemates and do tricks and often knock down the other new skaters.
Ive been enjoying this place since the 80s. Not much has changed but thats great for me.
Excellent place to skate and have fun. Good for teenagers! The person who gave out skates was often gone, that was annoying to have to wait while everyone is already skating.
Fun place for kids. Very nostalgic. But food staff (kids, I get it) are lazy and inattentive.
I usually go every Saturday and this is the best! I’m the fastest kid skater... I won every race (except the girl race) and I’m known for CJ...The Music is fascinating, and the referee/coaches are the best! They teach you new things and how to get better! I recommend you going here!
Went adult night. They had a DJ that only played rap and hip hop, it was obnoxious. After a day at work, we want music that elevates, not lyrics containing . Isches and hos. Many people quickly left, few spoke to the DJ, he tossed in 2 different songs only.People were scating against trafic andsecurity did not repremend. Few people ended up falling. Non of us are going back until a adult DJ is chosen and safety issues are in place
Everyone and everything was awesome except for Nancy the lady taking peoples money, she needs a serious lesson in her people skills, very, very unpleasant. Dont ask her for change unless you want her little window slammed in youre face, another employee apologized for her actions...
We recently celebrated our daughter’s 5th Birthday at the Skating rink. We did the Glow party package. All the kids loved it and it was a great time for them. Pictures turned out amazing, the rink is well kept and nice. However, our experience as the parents wasn’t so enjoyable. Prior to the party any questions I had were answered quickly. During the party I made reservations for 15 kiddos and only 10 plate setting were out. I requested the host provide the additional plates, cups, and glow favor which took twice of asking to get out. The host was no help at all. Lack of knowledge how the ticket count for adults and children were to be handled. I asked that the pizza be brought out and hour and half into the party the pizza was not out. We had to request the pizza be brought out again. A two hour party is short and for the food to be brought out 20/25 minutes prior to the end isn’t considerate at all. The host did not come to the table to ensure we were content throughout the party. We served our own pizza and drinks. The receipt had highlighted that the host tip was not included, which she did not deserve because she was not present at any point throughout to party. We had to take our own pizza trays and drink pitchers to the concession stand. Overall it’s great, kinda expensive but worth it. Our host simply ruined our experience, in my opinion.
I was really shocked by rudeness of the stuff :(It is right place to experience some impudence.Specially the front desk old lady. was clear to me that they didnt value their customers. they only wanted our money. The place has horrible smell. avoid eating their junky food specially the pizza .
Its good for the kids just check your skates for loose parts
What a disappointment. I called to book a birthday party for my niece and explained to the manager Amanda that we would need a three hour time block to accommodate our guests who would be arriving between 3 an 6 pm. She said that was not possible, birthday parties are only from 3-5 or from 6:30-8:30. When I asked if I could pay for an extra hour she said no. I asked if I could pay for two entire birthday parties so that we could have tables for the three hours we needed, and was told “we don’t do it that way, perhaps you should go somewhere else”. I left my phone number and asked if the owner would please call me, I was sure we could work something out. I had already told Amanda that we planned to spend at least $700.00 for my niece and her friends to have fun.No one ever called me back. Two weeks later, still hopeful, I called again and talked to Daisy. I asked how we could handle our special occasion and she told me that they could not accommodate us. When I asked if I needed to take my business elsewhere she told me to do what I want.I host birthday parties for my nieces and nephews every year and always make it something memorable and special for them. Never have I been told to take my business elsewhere.I called FunPlex this afternoon and was very pleased to hear that they are happy to have our special little girl’s birthday party at their enormous skating rink and that they can accommodate our time frame needs. They are giving me a private tour tomorrow afternoon. What a difference in customer service.I won’t be back to Dairy Ashford Roller Rink again after being treated like this. After so many years in business maybe they are just jaded.
The owners or management were very rude the night we came just from asking a question i felt this was very unnecessary
I am a long time regular. I love this place, and consider it a second home. Great place for family fun, and 18 and up Thursday Nights as well.
We never actually had a problem until 7-11-19. My wife was simply looking for price packages for our sons upcoming birthday. My wife was spoken down upon by the woman who answered her call. She explains that when she was on their website, there was a technical issue and all the website did was buffer and not respond. When she explained, as I stated above; she was disregarded. It was rather unprofessional and quite frankly a slap in the face. I get that issues happen. Be professional. Business does matter.
Fun place for the family. Been several times for birthday parties. Easy to setup, decent pizza, and places for parents to hang and watch their kids.
Would be Better and more fun if you could play better music because the music Is a really Lame selection playlist upgrade Please have a hip hop night or something because this Is just flat line boring lol
Really fun and will be back the only thing you have to watch out for is the children like to roller skate the opposite way that everyone is skating haha
My family loved it here. Good music. Skating for all ages. The only problem is the customer service is horrible. As soon as we walked in there were two women who seemed like they didn’t want to be there. No one greeted us and they pretty much seemed annoyed at any question we asked them. (It was our first time) also the young men at the skate rental booth also had attitudes and one rolled his eyes when one of the skates fell off the counter when we were returning them. If it’s a family oriented place customer service should never be this bad. At the end, we are paying to have a good experience.
Parents do not leave your kids alone at the rink if young. It is kind of wild and language maybe a issue for your taste. Otherwise it is a good place. The help is very iffy some are just downright rude.
The kids love to have their birthday parties here. The bathrooms could be cleaner, but overall great place to have some fun and burn some energy. Individual pricing is very reasonable.
A little intimidating if it’s Your first time skating but still fun nonetheless. I like that we have the option of choosing our own music to add to the playlist.
Beautiful church. The best experience ever for me.
Love this! So much fun! You gotta come here!
Awesome place I went there as a kid and have been there in my late teens, early twenties, late twenties and even go now in my early thirties. This place is great affordable and still hopping on a Friday night. But the carpet there and the restrooms need updating they have never been replaced in all the time I have gone there and because of that the place is showing its age. Great place and lots of fun though. As a note they need to Mark and area and put up signs that says that kids up to this age use the inner circle, those older use the outer circle because it can be dangerous when young kids not pay attention jump out right in front of you and you cannot stop in time.
I love their ice cream. The skating rental and admission is not too shabby. The floor is made up of concrete and some kind of paint, not wood. Also, the children’s skating assistance is $5 for every two hours. Prices vary on weekend.
Nice skating Rink. The kids had a great time.
So much F U N!
I enjoyed skating as a little girl but also as an adult that stays fit. Great workout and date night on Thursday they have adult night
Nice skating rink but the music is terrible in the day time ! They don’t even play skating music I would have had more fun skating to Kids Bop music. The kids weren’t even excited about the music. Here’s a lil tip the better the music the more often people will come !!! This is an easy fix ! Stop being stuck in your ways Dairy Ashford Skating Rink!!!!!!
Nice and fun place.Kids loved it.
Served us really hot drinks and gave the people that paid for a party ice in there drinks age limit on skate helpers even though you have to pay to use them anyways
We had my daughter’s birthday party here over the weekend. We chose the public party with ice cream. Our party helper was Morgan. She was very attentive and pleasant to our twelve 11-12 year olds.
Set up is great for the family but the concession arent the good at all overall the establishment and staff a friendly and helpful but the concessions suck
Great place for the kids to skate it wasnt very crowded. But you cant understand the guy on the microphone. Somewhat decent music.
Enjoyed a Thursday Adult night out. No kids under 18 yr old. Music was on point, every song was My song. That Dj kept us moving and grooving. All levels of skating.
Had fun and my great granddaughter enjoyed her party there
Place was super clean. The employees were on point and handling their duties. I had a magnificent time. From the moment I entered the first door I had a warm greeting from the employees and the pleasantness and joyfulness radiated from all the employees until I left. I cant wait to go back.
The place is good for fun but the pizza is horrible
I would have given a no star rating had that been a choose!I went to this exact roller rink as a child. I would have never expected they would banish an innocent child from having fun with friends, due to dietary restrictions. As her friends, had fun eating inside the child was sent to the parking lot to eat.As a child this has to be a horrible feeling. This is despicable!I hope that MOM’S all over Houston read this review and decided they would not allow their own child to be treated this way!I can only imagine how a mother explains to a broken hearted daughter that she has to eat outside in the parking lot as her friends have fun eating inside with the group.I will never recommend this roller rink to anyone!Dairy Ashford Roller Rink should be ashamed of their actions and policies.
Excellent service and a great place to take kids
Wonderful place to skate, hang out, and party!Great service. Kid-friendly. Affordable prices.
Rude staff almost clueless, mean manager, kept scream, Ugly treatment, very dirty, unprofessional, very racist. I can’t say enough bad things about this place! I just came home still shaking. I’ll make sure to leave bad reviews every where I can!
Love this place had a shoot here and it was great with there awesome staff Brings back my childhood memories .. Photo credit to: The Groovy photos on IG
Excellent birthday venue! Staff is friendly, attentive and super helpful. So fun to be able to take my kids to a place I used to skate at as a teen.
It is so fun..a good song choices and its jusf amazing i love the glow in dafk walls and everything good costumer service
Always enjoy our family time here
Good place
It is a very safe well-run facility for roller skating. I trust leaving my 13 year old granddaughter there with her friends and the knowledge that they are safe
Best spot for a family friendly roller skate party
It was really fun for the first time since I was 14. I had a blast. Tge music could be more up beat sone what, other than that its all good... Although I busted my axxxx twice. Two bruises later ima happy camper :)
It’s the best roller rink I’ve ever been to
Affordable family fun. Definitely a throwback to the 80s. Parts of it could use an update, but overall its a nice and well run place.
Had a great time roller skating there for a large birthday party. Facilities were clean, lights were modern LED, and skates and blades were in great condition. Evokes tons of childhood memories skating =) Highly recommended!
Literally just walked through the door with two children and my two year old wasnt feeling it, all I wanted was a refund because we live In Pasadena and wont come back this way. The lady sitting at the window threw me a complimentary pass and shut the window in my face. Horrible horrible horrible customer service. Rude management
The people there gave off so much positive energy, great time.
Me and my friends had lots of fun here and you will always be entertained and you can get food here to eat if you get hungry
Cute retro place to skate. Not beginner friendly if youre over 4 feet. They have assistance for kids for rent, but there arent walls lining majority of the rink and you kind of have to propel into a 6in. ledge and hope you land in a seat. There doesnt seem to be lanes so a lot of experienced skaters weave in and out of the beginners, knocking into them.Decent music selection.
A great roller rink for familys.
So glad this place is still around! Toddler skate is awesome. Adult skate night is a blast.
Probably the standard skating rink all others in Houston are compared by. I think its the best one in the Houston area.
This place hearkens back back to the good ole days! It reminds me of being a kid again whenever Im here. Its well air conditioned and clean and reasonably priced. If youre interested in skating more than just casually, ask about their Speed Skating classes they offer on Saturday morning and Thursday evening - its usually a mix of actual speed skaters and roller derby girls. The coach, Mel, is really an amazing teacher.
Dairy Ashford Roller Rink is a safe place for my Grands and was the same in the 90s for my Daughters. Fun Birthday Parties and great staff.
