Very nice and modern feeling garden surrounded by older downtown buildings next to a major park. Loved the atmosphere created by all the statues and casual seating in the area.
Do yourself a favor and grab a coffee in the morning and take a tranquil stroll through the Cullen sculpture garden. The pieces of artwork are interesting and half the fun is in sharing what it means to you with friends. The “bean” looking piece is different and unique to the one in Chicago and worthy of its own fan fare. That is not to takeaway from the other massive and intricate artwork that dots the immediate area.
Beautiful, quiet park situated between the new MFAH building and their parking garage (underground). Was the perfect introduction to MFAH. Numerous sculptures and benches throughout, so this would be the perfect spot to sit for coffee or lunch
Beautiful, tranquil area next to MFA filled with cool sculptures. Great for kids or enjoying a quiet lunch.
Small place to relax and enjoy the weather.
Free admittance to the garden as well as the MFAH building. Great view of the museum district from the roof of the building. Lots of great things to see and photograph.
A very interesting area to walk around. It has a surreal quality in the park where you can go up onto the museums rooftop and see the city or just meander in the park. The sculpture itself is cool, but I wish they wouldnt have roped it off.
Fun, walking around the garden trying to figure out the meaning of the sculptures. Going up the buildings rooftop top at night was a bonus, the city looks amazing at night. Definitely recommend, good luck finding parking. Construction work all around...
A little osasis in the heart of the city, filled with lovely relaxing sculptures and gardens, exquisitely designed by various artists. A worth while experience.
Sit amongst sculptures and watch the world go bye. It is dog friendly. It is respite and beauty in middle of museum district
Very nice newly constructed museum and art learning center. The architecture is pretty cool also.
Super cool sculpture garden! Not busy at all, great place to take pictures
A great place to visit and relax while being surrounded by so many incredible works of outdoor sculpture. The garden is beautiful during the day, and a very enchanting and romantic place to visit in the evenings after dark, especially if you take the climb up to the roof top garden of the Glassell school of art.
Nice place, you can see around the sculptures and the best part is the roof garden with a view of Medical center and Downtown
This such a lovely space for the community to enjoy. The new sculpture is a great addition, to the green space and fountain. There is a seating area to seat and chat, eat, or just relax. We witnessed and group of about 20 singing a love song to a couple, and then the boyfriend asked her to marry him. It was so special with the perfect backdrop.
Interesting sculptures. Places to sit and observe. Currently construction around.
Love this spot. Really close to Hermann park, good spot to hit up for 15 -30 minutes before heading over to the park. The vertical bean is dope, and then walk up the stairs and get a nice view and chill at a table for a bit.
My sister and I have been members of MFAH for years. We have been to several of museums across the countries and MFAH is one of our top favorites! This outdoor space is beyond amazing.
Beautiful and unexpected. A beautiful introduction to the MFAH art museum.
Great place to see sculptures and the new cloud column, a polish stainless steel similar to the one in Chicago
Absolutely awesome. A gem in Midtown Houston. Take the kids, take the hubby, take the wife. Reminds me of the Chicago bean. Lovely.
Nice place, but the Bean was very disappointing when compared to the one in Chicago. The location of the sculpture is almost difficult to find if your not familiar with the area. There is still some construction going on, so maybe locating it may become easier, but Im not very hopeful on this. Honestly, there really no comparison....
Nice place to sit and relax for a bit. Large trees provide a good amount of shade. There are also tables with umbrellas to sit at where one can enjoy a quick lunch outdoors.
Beautiful sculpture garden with lots of unique and well maintained artworks. The garden consists mainly of outdoor bronzes but also features a large Anish Kapoor piece. Worth spending some time in on a sunny day.
Amazing hidden jewel in Montrose. Discover the art district!
Its free and right across from the museum. Take a stroll...
Clean and great sculptures!
Great views. The garden was not kept.
Cool, free to enter, not very big, go to the school next door stairs lead up to the roof and free views of med center and downtown
Great place for a summer evening! I rather leave the pictures here to do all the talking.
Elegant concept and sculptures but the landscape maintenance is really done poorly. Such a pity as this detracts from the overall impression.
This new space, part of the Houston Museum of Fine arts, is part of would be a huge complex dedicated to arts. Common areas are nice and well kept. An elevator can take you to a little roof with great views. I took some nice photos to the medical center and downtown from there. The view is better at night!
Great way to spend a sunny day. Nice observation deck on roof of Glassell.
Cullen Sculpture Garden is a small area with unique sculptures and works of arts. I didnt know that such a place existed until I went to the Fine Arts Houston from a parking garage nearby. I did a quick walk to see all the sculpture and thats it. Very interesting but not too memorable for me.
Beautiful garden in the middle of the city. We went in September and it was still very hot. In spring or fall this will be a great place to take a walk and sit on the rooftop garden.
Didnt even know it was here! Beautiful little place to see
Another fine FREE Oasis in Houston. Shade, tables & chairs, about a dozen large sculptures. Paid Parking minor challenge. Near CAM (Contemporary Art Museum) & Jung (as in Carl) Center. Sometimes small exhibits, functions, & bookstore. Steps to Art Museum, MFAH, city view STEPS to outside observation level (mesa).
This Cloud Column is a must see while visiting Houston! But parking here sucks due construction so you might have to walk there.
The sculptures are very interesting. Its located in a nice spot where you can sit and enjoy lunch or time with a friend.
Great place to walk....respite in rhe chaos
Love to walk through and think about the art or whatever comes to mind.
Really nice sculpture garden. Had a can of beer and walked around for a nice end of the afternoon. The school nearby had a really cool stair and roof view of it as well.
Not that cool. Got a nice pic still so I shouldnt complain
This park is a Masterpiece! Amazing way to enjoy art and the weather (whenever it’s acceptable) and very comfortable and good looking amenities. Perfect for unwinding and even for photo shoots.
Beautiful place to take photos
Nice place in the middle of the city.
The Cullen Sculpture Garden is truly a marvel for both the eyes and the soul. Located in front of MFAHs Glassell School of Art, there are tranquil seating areas, well planned placements of sculptures that span the artistic canon in medium, school and origin. its a must see!
Nice but small. Now, bit of a construction site.
Had an awesome time!
Enjoyed beautiful art and show.
I loved this place and couldve spent a lot more time there sans the rain. Amazing pieces. Do not miss if youre in the area.
Construction is happening all around the garden, but it remains a peaceful place to visit and walk through. The stainless steel bean similar to the one in Chicago is cool to see. Make sure to wander up to the rooftop to take in the views of the city!
That bean is a great place to take pictures.... Really loved visiting!!
A must see for art appreciators! Houston’s very own Cloud Gate.
A small but well displayed and beautiful sculpture garden to stroll through. There is even an authentic Rodin! There are some tables and chairs placed in one spot of the sculpture garden to allow guests a quiet, relaxing space to think, or a spot to enjoy a beverage while viewing the sculpture garden, or to sit and sketch. The newly installed (2018) Anish Kapoor sculpture is a highlight of this attraction and is a fabulous photographic element against the beautiful blue Texas sky. There is no cost to view this garden... It is located on the art studio campus on Montrose across from the MFAH.
It was a nice sculpture garden and I appreciate that its something free to see in the city.
A fine sculpture park. It’s free and their are a variety of sculptures to view. My only complaint was that it was sometimes difficult to find the posted information for several of the pieces.
So nice & cool
The sculpture garden is a good place to take a walk around before or after visiting MFAHs main buildings.
Beautiful sculptures. Very peaceful place to rest or eat lunch.
Be sure to walk up the stairs by the stage seating to take in the view of Houston and the medical center area. The view of the Houston area architecture is gorgeous and so are the sculptures. Its all free. Two garden sculptures were still covered waiting to be unveiled when we were there 8/25/18...Im curious what they are.
I love going to yoga on a Sunday morning . The view of the city is spectacular.
I love this garden its a small place but its very peaceful and interesting. Very nice to take pictures here recommended.
I have a hard time not rating free, impressive galleries with 5 stars. This rating cost me nothing as did the visit. Now with the mountable School (!), you really get a treat with your visit. Particularly appreciate the new Amish sculpture. Every city needs one like every city needs a calatrava bridge (even if you don’t have water).
Beautiful. Shady. With Rodins and a panel of four Matisse spanning 30 years. And free. Bring lunch and sit in the shade.
Fun place filled with amazing sculptures. This is where the Cloud sculpture is located. (Also known as the bean.)
Cool place to check out some Rodin art sculpture pieces.
Lovely little park that creates an awesome sanctuary from the bustle of the city. A perfect stop to put a cap on a day at the museums. I highly recommend having lunch there and relaxing.
The roof has a good view with some sofas to enjoy said view
With the most beautiful energy, a other perspective to the city! Art and love in the same place
Dont miss a chance to take a walk through this outdoor sculpture garden. Great works here. Easy to miss.
Beautiful spot to stroll through.
The pictures say it all. Best time to visit is weekends prior to sunset.
Great spot to relax in the sun and view some sculpture
Go to the rooftop garden for a great photo !
Its great place to visit day and night
The best! Way better than in and whatever.
Good layout for an outdoor sculpture garden. There are ample places for display & when we went there were sculptures that appeal to a wide variety of tastes. Small tables set up if youd like to enjoy a beverage or snack while sitting in the shade. Cozy getaway in the middle of a bustling city.
The statues were cool, but they didnt move much.
A nice place to sit and read whole surrounded by interesting art.
The cloud column is gorgeous, plus the rooftop on top of the art school is worth it.
We went on a moonlit night and the rooftop terrace made everything seem beautiful!
Small. Some nice pieces. Actually i think the Chillida that’s at the plaza just outside the Garden is the Best.
Nice just to walk around and see some sculptures
Roof top view is priceless
Great place! Very tranquil and the art sculptures are great!!
Nice public space, mostly modern-style pieces
Super fun to take a stroll through & even take some artsy pictures. has tables and chairs in the garden so you can sit down & drink a coffee, enjoy a conversation, or just have some needed alone time!
Lots of space to to move around. Lovely scenery.
Gorgeous view of midtown Houston and Hermann Park. A clean quaint sculpture garden / court perfect for enjoying lunch or a nice walk with friends, family, or your dogs.
Have loved this special place for decades...and then some!!
Kinda Romantic in an artsy type of way
Beautiful and relaxing. Good for people watching or walking your dog.
Its quite small. But for fine arts fanatic, it is a great place to drop by and check out the sculptures.
I had our surprise wedding here in January of 2017 so Im a little biased. I chose the site because where we actually first met was across the street in front of the Museum of Fine Arts but it was noisy there. This was a secluded great place for our impromptu ceremony.
Unique
