My work group and I visited this restaurant for lunch while visiting Houston for a business trip. We found the service to be excellent for serving a large group and the portions were sizable. The highly recommend their burgers, and their server was very attentive. The desserts were fairly typical of an American food restaurant, and I would recommend their Skillet Cookie. They also have the Impossible Burger for vegan or vegetarian patrons. There is a gift shop in the restaurant which had a verity of t-shirts and other memorabilia. My coworker even friend a book on her favorite artist, Prince, which made the experience fun and memorable.
Came all the way from Orlando Florida to see my boyfriends favorite musician. Enrique Bunberry. Even though we had some car trouble getting there, which set us back a bit. Once we were there we had forgotten about all the car problems and had one of the best nights of our lives. We had awesome seats and the people around us were not a loud or a rowdy crowd. I would definitely come back if ever in the area.
What a great place we decided to visit! The restaurant was outstanding from beginning to end. It must be so difficult during these times to retain staff in places like these. My husband and I are so very thankful to your employees who went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. We will be back on our next trip. Ask to speak with Ms. Nina! She is a complete doll and had us cracking up at our table, I almost choked, twice! Thank you and pleasure to meet you!
I saw Angels and Airwaves. Great show! I’m glad AVA played there. All seats are good, and the food was delicious. Two bars ....first floor and second.
Had such a fun time last night #SelenaquintanillaNight! Me and my friend’s waitress Grace was the bomb!! She took very good care of us!! & the singer was Great!!
Very good food, terrific bar with seating for a large bar crowd. Big screen TVs, complemented by a constant stream of live music most nights. At the beginning of each month starting in September, is jazz night. Come in and see what the Power of Size is really like, when the Houston Jazz Orchestra (HJO), opens up. If youve never heard a big band jazz Orchestra, You are in for a treat. Its surprising how many people have never heard live, an 18 piece Jazz Orchestra. Some listen and say wow, Ive never heard anything like that.
The food was good but the extra cost for better seats at the concert was a must have. The food at the concert was horrible so I am glad I ate in the restaurant before the show. My companions arrived late believing the food in the show would be just as good. Oops! Take home message go early eat in the restaurant and pony up the extra cash for the better seats instead of the standing room only. The best thing on the menu, hands down was the Bourbon bread pudding. Start with that and if you have room order something else. They have a sad scam. They ask if you want to pay to get to the front of the line to get to your seat first. They only have one elevator so it takes a long time to get to the second floor seats. But it wasn’t worth the extra 50 bucks.
Great place for concerts, not too big great sound and views. Go there all the time, and will definitely be back often
One of the best venues in Houston for an intimate show whether its Citizen Cope or Thrice. Always a good time. Good food and drinks.
Great atmosphere. Very nice, and casual. The entertainment is great to. Great customer service. I recommend open mic nights.
Awesome Venue for live music! Most shows are all ages. Balcony seats, table top seats in back and floor is normally standing room only. Most bands only have one opener at this venue! Restaurant is great a little high priced but if your going to a show the $25 pass the line credit is great. Staff is very friendly and helpful with any questions you may have on menu items.
We went for the Sunday Jazz Brunch. The Jalapeno cornbread was delicious. Ambiance was very nice. I had the shrimp and grits. Shrimp was very seasoned and good. Grits were bland. I would definitely go back.
Grace Potter was amazing last night! The sound is always great, the atmosphere. I love going to HOB for concerts
We always have a fantastic time here. Ive only had one issue with a member of their staff. Otherwise everyone was fantastic and the concerts were great if not interesting.
Burgers, blackened fish, salads and great assortment of tap beer made for a great preamble to the show upstairs. Both bands had big sound and while I dont care for music Ive never heard, both bands have a vivacious presentation and their own eclectic sound. Ill be following both hoping they come back again and also make sure to have time for a bite before. Also, use the valet parking, its worth it for a stress free beginning to a very cool night.
BEAUTIFUL ambiance, great music and delicious food in downtown Houston! Staff is so friendly, love it here! Come here for drinks, dinner and live music! Space looks small but there’s a much more than you think - rooms throughout, an outdoor terrace, bar and stage behind the bar. Great spot for good music, food and dancing!
I purchase 4 tickets for the gospel brunch. I was excited to check out the HOB and have a entertaining evening with my in-laws. Well to say the least the event never happen because of COVID-19. My husband and I had to call a few times to find out the status of the event. We were told it was cancelled. To this day we have not received any emails about if and when the event would be rescheduled. When I called Ticket Master, refund is not an option right now because HOB has not cancelled the event. Confused? Ticket Master advised us to contact the venue. Is anyone else having the same issue? I understand that these venues are closed and have a lot going on.....please communicate with your paying customers.
Great venue, sound system. We always enjoy concerts here. Just wish they had a better entrance area and system. There should be a safe exit as many people are semi or more drunk.
Loved the food, the vibe, and service. Voodoo shrimp, I could have had on my own as a meal. I had a burger and it was delicious! Will definitely be back to try other dishes. Great place to go before a concert.
Smaller venue, very close to the stage. The Accustics were amazing. The staff was very friendly and very prompt to get you what you needed and answer any questions you may have. Had an all around good vibe!!
I have yet to go here and not have a good time. The restaurant prices are a little high for not gourmet food, but the atmosphere is fun and exciting. The concerts Ive attended here, a couple of cover bands, were fun, the sound is great, the bartenders are great. This is a fun place to have a night out.
Standing room only if you like to hear the sound better. Balcony is a nice view but the amps blast in your ear and you miss the quality sound. If you like to sit pay a little more and enjoy the tall round tables . (They seat 4).
Great venue for live music. Grace Potter rocked! Hope she returns!
Went here for the first time to see Circa Survive. My license/purse was stolen but staff worked with me so I could get my tickets at the door with no problem. Sound was really good, I liked the layout of the venue itself. Drinks are crazy expensive. I believe a Lone Star is at least $12.
Went to the rick Ross concert, I’ve been to a few concerts before here and I always have a great time only thing I recommend is getting there a little earlier to get a good spot to watch the concert . Drinks were good and reasonable price, bathrooms had plenty of stalls. Great time
Nice venue for a more intimate concert experience. Good balcony seating for the main stage. Leg room is limited. I like that theres a bar and restroom upstairs
This was my second time here and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. My wife and I dined in. Our server JEREMY! ! was awesome! I believe our server and the new band made this a good experience! Keep it up House of Blues!
Nice place. It was a walk and you have to pay for parking somewhere nearby but great service :)
5 stars, WOULD repeat!! Cant wait to be here over and over and over again once its opened back up. Seriously. I could spend ALL day and night there and never get sick of it!! Love me some HOB!
OMG this place is great. Seating is nice food is good agent the drinks are good and strong.
I really enjoyed anytime here for New Years Eve! Music was great! I also came here last year to see a band called The Internet and we had great seats! The vibe is always good here!
I went to the Shady Roast Tour featuring some legendary Queens. I had a ticket for general admission and was only allowed to stand unless I wanted to upgrade for the ridiculous price of $140. This place is a cool place but ticket prices for their events are always crazy to me. The show DID NOT start on time; Im not sure if thats because of the venue or production for the show. I didnt order any food or drinks. I did have a good time because of my reason for going. I didnt use the restroom to review those. HOWEVER, MOST IMPORTANTLY, The queens were hilarious and Shady!
I stopped by the happy hour with what I thought was an acoustic singer-songwriter performing. Wont go back. The double bourbon was laughably small. I swear Ive had many a single pour with more volume than two of the House of Blues doubles. What a joke--an expensive joke, so the jokes on me. The brisket nachos were fine. The musician was good, I guess, but not what I thought Id signed up for. The HoB website had me expecting an acoustic-guitar-playing singer-songwriter, but this guy was playing solo electric guitar and playing low-key covers of miscellaneous 90s rock. As such he was good, but theres a reason that low-key electric guitar solo rock isnt actually a thing.
We had a party of 12. Service after our food was delivered was a little slow. There was good live music of cover music (usually pop and rock) They had a wrong order of kinds of side dishes for one of our party members. They did come around and refill our water twice. We got pimento cheese spread and guacamole with chips. Chips had too much salt. Spreads were very good and flavorful (esp. pimento cheese spread). The following dishes were house favorites.Chicken friend steak was fried too low temperature, so it was greasy and not crispy. I asked for extra gravy, it was not given. Gravy didn’t have much flavor. Mash potatoes were good.Impossible burger of course was good and so were the sweet potatoes fries. Fries were tasty and crispy.
Excellent venue to see any show !
Went to the GUNNA concert here on 5/6. Had such a good time. I upgraded my tickets to pass the line tickets for an extra$25 when I got there and it was worth it ! Staff was nice and helpful. Drinks were pretty good. Ill be back memorial day weekend and Im looking forward to it already.
Enjoyed a great concert with ABBA RAMA at the Houston House of Blues. You can get pizza, chicken fingers, pretzels to eat and drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. If you wanted to be up close. They offer a standing area and you could dance. Tables were available and they had an upper section with seats. Enjoyed theConcert.
Brought my friends here one time and it was the best time.
The service was the BEST thing about my visit. Came for the jazz brunch, they no longer have the buffet and the menu is mediocre at best. I would feel cheated if it werent for the great service. Kudos to our waiter Bones. Wont come back for the brunch.
Did not visit the restaurant or shop, but the music hall is great. Spacious, great acoustics, the drinks and food are on the pricey side but not too much. Definitely enjoyed watching Buckethead live, hopefully we will have some more great shows like this coming up!
Awesome place. A good concert venue. Several bars in both first and second floor. VIP area is awesome. Also the restaurant is good.
Great acoustics. Never have an issue. Restrooms are clean. Get there as early as possible if youre looking to stand near the stage.
Our first visit and was pretty disappointing! We were excited since we brought guest from out of town for the experience. But the service was horrible. The restaurant wasn’t that busy for a Saturday night, however service was slow and we were neglected. The Carolina mess fries had absolutely no flavor. Truly a mess. The macaroni and cheese tasted like it was made with velvetta cheese, again flavored less . Shrimp Poboy sandwich bread was stale .The burgers, fries, music ( artist were great specially Daitrell) and the lounge ambiance were excellent.Definitely room for improvement with some twicks
LOVE THIS PLACE! Always eat here when attending concerts at Toyota center. Been to a few shows at House of Blues as well with my son. Fun place. Great food. LOVE their coffee
My mom and I were here last night to see Sinbad live and the atmosphere was just perfect. I must say the Voodoo shrimp is an absolutely amazing concoction. We are STILL talking about that dish. Thank you for a great evening. Customer service was great as well! We will definitely be back soon!
Pleasantly surprised. I have attended shows in the past and the seating arrangement is a little frustrating downstairs because if you didnt pay $$$ you are standing off to the side with an awful view and its not as fun. This time we bought seats upstairs and it was perfect. There is a bar upstairs that wasnt busy and we had space to sing and dance along. I will check out future events with upstairs seating.
Interesting menu, I got bbq brisket tacos and they were pretty delicious. I liked my SOs smokehouse flatbread better though!
Walked in a little after 6 PM with 2 others, we were greeted and sat down immediately. Service was awesome. We ordered the BBQ Family style, certainly enough for 4 people. All the meats were good. The brisket was more like pot roast, good flavor just not like normal brisket. The ribs were good, my favorite was the chicken, great flavor and moist!
We found house of blues last year when they had an Elvis and Johnny Cash tribute. We were able to go in the foundation room to have dinner before the show and it was a great meal, a bit above our budget but we splurged this visit. After the concert you can go to foundation room if your above 21. The bands are good and fun.We forgot to rsvp one night for a band we wanted to see but was there seeing another band and eating at the regular restaurant. The food is good there and waiters attentive. I decided to ask about the band the next night with a MGR and was able to get tickets .That concert was amazing.Love seeing concerts here.
Great environment. The staff was very helpful and nice. The security at the front of the stage made about 20 trips back and fourth getting water for people in the crowd. Plus Chon killed it!
Fun, mid-sized concert venue. Standing room tends to get pretty packed so get there early if you want a good spot to see the musicians. Drink prices are high but that’s expected at a concert venue. They do check you with metal detectors at the door to ensure safety. Overall, had a blast at the show and would go back to the venue.
Nice and great service delicious food
Good spot to enjoy a concert. For me sitting upstairs is the preference but SRO downstairs is workable. Good restroom and bar situation and ample staff to assist you.
Such a great place for concerts. Since the venue isnt huge it feels more intimate with the bands that play.
Best concerts here man! Could not have asked for a better experience! Love it!
Good venue to see live music and good atmosphere. We sat in the balcony, which I really liked. Great view of the stage. It wasnt overly crowded and the seats were comfortable. The balcony also had a bar and restrooms with minimal to no lines. Great experience overall. One note, I saw a show on a weeknight and the tickets said 7:00pm. Showed up just before 7:00. Got seated around 7:30. The main act didnt go on until after 9:30. That can make for a late-ish night when you have to get up the next day for work. Thats a typical concert schedule though!
Nice atmosphere and designed to be up close and intimate venue. Didnt have a good drink selection tho. Otherwise was a good experience.
If you can, definitely go to Foundation Room before for dinner. Incredible atmosphere. Great food and service. A VIP experience. Escorted down to the show and access to come back to bar after the show where awesome DJ played and ended up seeing the band. Venue great for music. Bar staff friendly.
This was a special occasion. A dear friend passed away last week and they decided to have his celebration of life at the House of Blues. What a man Will Cannon was. He will always hold a special place in my heart. May you be at peace dear friend. Find your stairway to heaven.
It would be great if they stay closed! We had a fight next to us last time we went there, the security was useless!
I feel at home here. Thank you for such an awesome atmosphere, drinks, music and service. Ill be back.
Had a great first experience at the HOB. Lucky to see Sum 41 at now my favorite venue. Great seating up in the balcony. The staff was very helpful and security was top notch, anytime there was an issue they took care of it timely and effectively. Was a bit louder than usual as I have only ever been to outdoor concerts, it was still quite enjoyable! Will definitely be coming back!
My favorite venue in Houston. Best acoustics. Excellent staff. No drama. ♡
OK first off! RICHARD remember THAT NAME! BEST SERVICE EVER!!!!! Food was just as good (tacos..bread pudding thank me later) lol but overall h.o.b PROMOTE RICHARD!! Dude is one of the best things and.people working for you..Ive attended several openings (Vegas etc..) And best time Ive had is in Houston because of RICHARD. ..EVERYBODY ASK FOR HIM!!
Been to this venue several times. Usually its great, however most recently when I went there they wouldnt accept my state-issued paper drivers license that I was given as a temporary ID until my card came in the mail and therefore I was not allowed to drink. So be prepared to bring another form of ID you want a bracelet to be able to drink.
House of Blues was clean - too clean for a self-proclaimed Blues establishment. The venue has two floors, and the only way between them during shows is a single elevator. The upper deck has stadium seating and the lower deck has standing room only, so you can somewhat pick your concert experience. Drinks are as expensive as any other venue. Three stars for being perfectly average as a venue. The show I saw was Saint Motel, and they were amazing. They deserve an entirely different review.
House of Blues is not a gourmet restaurant, but the food is consistently extremely good. Always fresh and hot. All staff are always extremely friendly and while they always seem understaffed, somehow drink refills come constantly which blows my mind. Biggest area of improvement needed is they get overloaded on show nights about 90 minutes prior to a show. While the kitchen can cook well, they fall behind from the high number of orders. Just leave a little extra time and enjoy the experience. It is a positive one.
Standing room is spacious. Two bars makes for fast service.Drinks are pricey, but its a wonderful place for shows.
Love, love, love HOB. I rarely go to the concerts, I primarily frequent their main dining room with live music in the evenings. The acts are usually pretty good..Ive heard a few that should be out of the business but overall, its a great change from the normal dining routine. Every dish Ive tried was exceptionally prepared...however, Ive never ordered a sandwich here, only the full entrees (Shrimp n Grits, Meatloaf, Smokehouse Platter, Pasta, etc)..all were perfect. Their menu changes periodically which is also nice so frequent visitors can try new things over time. Happy Hours are excellent as well, one of the better ones in Houston. Cant go wrong here...just be sure to make a reservation.
Went to see Wale. Overall concert was good, started 2hours late drinks were $22-25 each.
Great dining experience before the Lyfe Jennings Concert! Our server Brandon was phenomenal! Keep up the great work! We will definitely be back!
Saw 5SOS here on April 21st. I was on the first floor and I remember when the lights went out, everyone ran towards the stage. It was crazy but had an amazing time, despite it. I had the time of my life, wishing it never ended! Loved the place.
By far a great venue for families who want to enjoy great music together…
Venue is small, which is great for seeing any artist up close. The drinks inside the venue are pricey. I liked the decor on the outside bar better than on the concert room itself. They do take credit cards at the bar, which is nice.
Very intimate setting. Buffet was delicious. Music was inspirational. Overall the Gospel Brunch was a hit!
The music venue is great! Anywhere u sit or stand you will have a great view. The bartenders are super friendly.
Theres always a nice selection of venues to see, Periphery being the latest for me (2-06-2020). Definitely a place to check out every once in a while.
Upper balcony bar is the place to be. Stadium seating provides excellent view of action. Bar staff are hilarious. Good place to relax... And a photo booth!
Oh my gosh. Awesome place. Quirky cool atmosphere, Bohemian style art, and great music. Food is a delight, Ceasar Salad rocks! Philly is a delight as well. Go, go, go and check it out.
Great venue for a concert! Intimate feel with great service. Food is available for purchase at restaurant downstairs before the show as well. Parking is in garage across street for $10.
Excellent food, music and environment. Price was reasonable. Ordered chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. Everything was pitch perfect. Will definitely visit again.
I attended the Eric Nam concert on February 8th. The venue is small, giving it an intimate feel. I sat in the left side of the balcony, first in Row D, seat 105. I moved closer during the show, since there were empty seats in front of me. The view is slightly obscured, depending on where the artist is standing. Sitting down, you definitely have a lot harder of a time seeing whats going on; a lot of us in that section ended up standing to have a better view. The rows are cramped together, and the seats are fairly small. I still preferred having a seat rather than standing with the rest of general admission. I wish I had brought earplugs; the amps being so close wasnt pleasant! It isnt hard to find anything in the venue, whether it be bathrooms or the merch table. Several bars are places around the building if you need a drink, which I found convenient. Ill come back to this venue if they end up having more K-Pop artists for sure!
Fantastic music venue, but if you’re planning on drinking you’d better be prepared to empty your 401(k). $20 for one crown?!?
Went there a few day ago in the afternoon and I couldnt help but to leave a review Nathan served me and he was amazing! He gave me great recomendations such as the shrimp and grits and bread pudding. He was funny and entertaining but kept its still professional. I will definetly tell my friends to come here and ask for the best server (Nathan)
Great venue friendly staff would definitely recommend this place.
I loved the live music and the food tasted awesome. We were in the normal seating area on the first floor. They also have 2 other floors with other performers.
We had dinner here the other day and the food was great! We were greeted the moment we walked in. When our food came out the chef (Mike) came by our table and made sure we were satisfied with our meal. Great experience overall.
What a great place to see a concert! Very expensive though.
Great venue. Always well organized and safe. Really enjoyed the concert tonight.
Food was pretty good. Prices a little high. Waitress was courteous. Want super busy at noon when I and my coworkers went.
The food was on point and they had a great blues band tonight. Little Terry with Milton Hopkins.
Great Venue to see a concert. Security was quick and easy. Happy hour specials were very reasonable for food and drinks. Venue was great, everyone had a close view to the show.
Food is fine. Drinks are fine. Service is fine.
Today’s Sunday Gospel Brunch was absolutely amazing. Lady Diamond puts on one amazing show. And the food and dervish was great also. Will definitely be back!!!!DIanne Samoff
Has a great platter for friends to share, mixed meat or chicken. Enough for most of us to go crazy. Maybe to the rest a bit pricey. Had some good live music.
I went to a show here and while I really enjoy the performer (Slash) the House of Blues, at least in my experience, left a lot to be desired. I had to stand in a long line outside while waiting for the event to open, which maybe that was my fault as the event was advertised as staring at 7 so I got there at 6:15 - but it turns out the doors didn’t open until 7. Then I got to my seat and wasn’t able to see squat for most of the show. I was left side balcony, second row, and the front row people lean forward blocking my view. The loudspeaker was right there next to my seat so it was crazy loud. I know shows are loud but when your ear is 10 feet from the loudspeaker it’s even more so.
Nice venue for live bands. Love they support our military. Good food and friendly people
New Orleans was my 1st and Houston is the second location for me with the House of Blues. They always come though when its time to jam. Great venue spot for a concert.
Amazing Reik concert. Came all the way from Portland Oregon and was not disappointed.
