Brandons knowledge of the right athletic wear for me and my daughter was refreshing, also. Just bought a pair of Brooks shoes and the dream soles assist orthodics from Ground Up Athletics. I absolutely love them! Kennedy at Ground Up Athletics was very helpful and helped me find the shoes that work the best for my workouts! I definitely recommend this store if you are looking for athletic shoes that actually are fit for your feet.

I walked into this store years ago after having multiple foot surgeries and being diagnosed with severe nerve pain. The staff at Ground Up were very understanding and sensitive to my needs and concerns. After showing me about 5 different pairs of shoes, they introduced me to Brooks Glycerines. Ive been wearing that brand and type ever since as my foot has never felt so supported and comfortable in any other shoe. Their prices are exactly what you would pay online, but in a shoe boutique store type setting. Each time I visit the staff is always well informed about the latest shoes and trends. I highly recommend Ground Up to anyone thats serious about their feet and getting a great pair of shoes.

The staff is very knowledgeable about the products they sell and how to correct issues with your feet and shins. These guys are the best at what they do. They even make custom orthotics. I wont go anywhere else.

If I could give negative I would. I got shoes from there awhile back. They told me my size for shoes was 2 sizes bigger then they actually are. Also I my feet pronate pretty badly and they sold me shoes that dont help with stabilizing. My ankles constantly hurt, my feet, and my back because of the shoes. Also paid to get the orthopedic inserts made which never really worked either. Was a horrible waste of money and will never go here again. Thanks for nothing!

If you have flat feet, this is a good place for you. Custom molded inserts run about $250 which is decent considering you can use them in more than one pair of shoes. If you choose custom inserts, keep in mind you have to take off your socks too.

These guys know what they are talking about when it comes to foot health and shoe design. I’ve bought several pairs of shoes here and have never been disappointed. I enjoy coming here and talking shoes with the staff. I geek out on researching all of the different shoe philosophies. They have a more traditional view on shoe support. I agree. I obtained foot injuries going with a minimalist type shoe (I’m 29yrs old 5’6” 150 lbs). You won’t regret taking their advice.

If you have feet you should check out this store. They have amazing compression socks and friendly staff. Have flat feet or pain in a certain area? They will have a shoe for you. This place is amazing. Awesome area.

I have flat feet and bunions. Been to Ground Up Athletics in the past and today to pick up my new pair of custom orthotics . Lauren took care of me today to make sure when I walk out of the store that I was comfortable with my new orthotics and also I purchase a new pair of Echelon shoes . The folks at Ground Up Athletics just dont sell shoes and insole, they also give you an insight and education regarding your foot. They earn my business.

This was my first time visiting today and it won’t be my last. A lady name Rebecca helped me find the perfect shoe. She gave me several options and was very attentive and informative. I was very pleased of my selection.

Terrible customer service and an incredibly limited shoe selection. I would give a 0 if I could. The clerk was very rude and though new probably doesnt belong in the service industry.

Ken and the staff are extremely knowledgeable. My son fractured his foot three seasons in a row and we were searching for answers. We were recommended to go visit with Ken and see if his custom orthotic would help. Not only did it help, it has allowed him to continue playing lacrosse in college. Customer service is as good as it gets.

I was honestly expecting a bit more from this place after having read the reviews. The experience here wasnt bad, necessarily, just nothing more than I could get out of going to a Footlocker. The staff wasnt rude, just not particularly enthusiastic either. This was my first time buying proper running shoes so I was hoping for a bit more. Giving three stars because I feel thats about average and the experience here was just that. I went to a Fleet Feet down the street afterward and the experience was completely different; night and day. I went on a Sunday so maybe it was the time of day? I wouldnt recommend this place for someone interested in an experience that is anything other than hum drum.

I have been buying my shoes from them since 2012 and they are very nice and extremely knowledgeable. They take their time to listen and always have the proper shoe to help with my foot problems.In 2013 I met the owner, Ken, and had him make me a pair of custom insoles. I now have 2 pair of custom insoles and my feet have never felt better. He does excellent work and he has a relentless drive to provide his customers with exactly what they need.I recommend this place to everyone I know, and have even had my dad come down from College Station to get fitted for shoes.

This place saved my life!!!! I’m a hairstylist and I stand 8-10 hours a day. I’ve had foot surgery and back problems due to my flat feet. I’ve spent $350 on foot inserts for my shoes from my podiatrists and they hurt my feet and caused excruciating pain!!! I couldn’t exercise because of my foot pain, my feet would hurt so bad when I get off of work it hurt to drive my car home. I’ve went to countless specialty shoe stores and nothing really helped. Until I came here!!!!! I bought 3 pair of shoes and inserts and spent over $500, it was the best investment I’ve ever made!!!! My feet don’t hurt anymore!!! At the end of my work day I can drive my car and feel no pain!!! I can exercise without stopping from foot pain!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!! Thank you for saving my life!!

I went into the Ground Up Athletics store at the Vintage (Houston) at 7p (they closed at 8p) and there was one other couple in the store being assisted. I stood around for over 15mins with no acknowledgment from the ONE salesperson in the store...not a be with you in a minute or sorry for the wait etc. No acknowledgement. In addition, the store was not laid out in such a manner that I could even browse the shoes bc there was not any labeling of stabilizing vs running etc. Ill go to Fleet Feet tomorrow and get the good service Ive come to expect and been shown there.Brent Anderson

I am a 71 year old guy that should have listened many years ago that your feet are probably one of the most important parts of your body and you need to take really good care of them.Recently I was informed by my foot specialist that my left foot had completely collapsed and I would either have to undergo surgery or wear a foot brace for the rest of my life. Due to my age and other health issues my surgeon suggested the foot brace. After your brace is cast it my take several visits to a clinic to have adjustments made to make your brace as comfortable as possible. With little to no success after several months at two different clinics I decided to try GROUND UP and all I can say is that I am one happy man. Ken Sly and his associates are true professionals and LISTEN to what you have to say and proceed from there. Within a few visits I am now able to wear my foot brace with almost NO pain due to pressure points.My sincerest thanks to Ken and GROUND UP.Nelson

As a CrossFitter, I subscribed to the minimalist footwear belief. While talking to Ken Sly he explained why the minimalist shoes were not good for your feet, so I tried the running shoes with the custom orthotics. All I can say is Ken was more than correct. And now I dont have calf and foot pain during my running or impact movements.I love my custom orthotics and I believe they are a must for any athlete or person who walks on 2 legs. Thanks Ken and the Ground Up staff for steering me from the minimalist belief and getting my feet correct!

I was looking forward to buying a new pair of running shoes with a little assistance. I was having trouble with my Nike Lunarglides picking up too many pebbles off the trail. I walked in and the store looked great and was very organized, but when the salesman approached me and I told him my problem he laughed at me and told me I probably cant help you with the rocks getting stuck in your shoes. I was ready to walk out right then because of his attitude but I decided to give him one more shot. I was very specific in wanting another pair of Nikes with similar support but with different soles. He told me that they didnt sell Nikes and then asked me with the same attitude, how much did you pay for yours in order to match me up with a similar priced shoe. I told him that the price was irrelevant and by that point I realized that he didnt know anything about shoes, so I walked out and went a couple miles down the road to Fleet Feet where I should have gone in the first place.

They are very knowledgeable and friendly. They wont just try to sell you the most expensive thing. They will take the time to hear your need and find what is best for you.
