Lawndale is similar in content to the CAM (Contemporary Art Museum), near MFAH. Jung Center gallery is no longer open to public, can call Jung bookstore. CAM closed till January. Lawndale open on a specific schedule. Reservations sometimes required, best to call ahead. CHECK WEBSITES.
Neat place to check out old town. I bought a few things and the Art was local and inspiring!
Small gallery but they do really cool work. Recently they held a display on comic artists from the 1970s after the exhibit travelled to Germany. During my last visit only one floor had works on display as the second floor was under construction. Regardless, cool center presenting unique collections.
Great organization with talented selections of sponsored shows. Spacious main room which makes it excellent for events. Variety of interesting exhibitions. Disappointed that they delegated Los Dios de los Muerte to another group. The elevator is small and runs slow but few need to use it because the main activity and restrooms are on the first floor.
Awesomegreat spaceNice parking easy on easy outGreat location
Excellent support of artists and community engagement!!
Whenever I catch notice of one of their openings, I am glad to see all the work that I believe encompass Houston and perhaps Texas artist. The shows seem to capture all the complexities of the city.
Their lawn art is hilarious. I enjoy my lunch walks by the display
Professional personnel, great artwork, supplies and other info. In addition, there are usually events held throughout the year.
Worth a short stop, saw some interesting paintings and photographs. More of a gallery than museum.
Left to wander on my own, I found my time was best spent reading the informative bulletin for the second floor exhibition. Information about artists were harder to find downstairs. Quiet, easy and free parking, elevator and stairs available.
Not sure what I thought. The exhibit was not what the website had so we did not stay that long. May call before returning to be sure what is on exhibit.
Wonderful curation. Great exhibit- (Axis Mundo)
The eclectic art!
Free funky museum!
Very funky.
Beautiful selection of art from local artists, and donation-based. 2 floors of art! And a fun gift shop. Also hosts great events featuring local artists, musicians, and speakers.
Interesting place? The art there wasnt for me, but I understand that it changes regularly. I might change this after a second visit, but dont come unless you like MODERN art.
Excellent alternative art space in the museum district featuring grassroots art exhibitions, events and performance
This is a small gallery featuring various artists its a wonderful place to stop in. Its close enough to many of the Houston museums to check out. Parking is free in their private lot - less than an hour will do.
I enjoyed viewing up and coming artists work. Small and quaint. Great date site.
Only first floor open. They Houston museum district website did not mention it. Wasted my time.
I went here for an art opening and it was beautiful.
Neon and plasma art exhibit. Creative uses of light we,have known all our lives.
I just dont get this type of art. Its not for me. But its worth checking out.
We had a wonderful time at this small, but interesting local artist gallery.
Rather tedious art space in the museum district. I would skip it and go to the MFA or Menil. The art exhibitions are unexciting and lifeless.
Great local art non-profit with good community outreach.
Interesting place, first visit to see a friends work.
Gon and get you some FREE art!
Interesting and beautiful display. Constantly changing and evolving.
