My girlfriend and I were looking for suggestions at the Visitor’s Center in town, and both staff members there highly suggested going to see Maxwell Blade. It seemed like he’s a bit of a local celebrity. We decided to go one night after dinner and I don’t regret it. His magic was really cool! There was one point where he brought some young kids on stage and well, young kids don’t always do what you expect them to do, but he handled it expertly and it was absolutely hilarious! I would definitely recommend taking one night and going to see Maxwell Blade

Awesome show! Great illusions, songs, comedy, crowd participation. And did I mention magic?! Two solid hours of entertainment and right here in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Also thanks to the cast and crew for taking the time to visit with the audience after the show. Truly a family friendly show.I really appreciated the technical aspects as my dad loves learning new tricks to play on family, friends and co-workers while I was growing up. Maxwell performed on of my Dads favorites during the show and I wish my Dad was still with us so I could bring him to the show.Will definitely be back!

Based on all the positive reviews I was expecting much more! First of all the show started almost 40 minutes late. Totally unprofessional. And for a magic show there was tons of piano playing, lame, juvenile jokes, and plenty of outdated, been there done that magic and illusions. It got so bad that after an hour my kids were begging me to go...so we walked out. Not at all worth the $75 we spent on admission. Do yourself a favor, and find something else to spend your money on while in Hot Springs!

Maxwell is entertaining. He doesnt try to pretend hes truly magic. He tells you his story about how he became an entertainer. All while making you laugh and clap. Worth visiting at least once.

It was a very entertaining show to end off my familys vacation in Hot Springs! Would recommend if youre in the market for some entertaining magic and even a few Elton John songs. Did kinda feel like it dragged on nearing the end but thats probably just me. They do take some precautions so you arent sitting shoulder to shoulder with people during the pandemic so good on them.

This show was awesome! Maxwell is hilarious, creative, and awesome at magic! The seats are not over priced for what youre getting $25 per person is an amazing deal. He was so sweet during and after the show. 100/10 would recommend and I will be going back.

Its amazing to see a performer who does their performance based on complete passion. These days many performers just do it for the money and tend to be pretty stuck up. If youre looking for something fun and entertaining to do (in AC ) with your family while in Hot Springs you must see Maxwell Blades magic show! Hes a man of many talents - magician, comedian, musician. It was my daughters 2nd time seeing him and our 1st. My son was chosen to go on stage (made daughter jealous of course) and he had so much fun. The kids were on the edge of their seats the entire time! We will be going again the next time we visit! They also have a concession counter with snacks & drinks to keep the littles happy and a separate room for the grown-up drinks ! Bathrooms were clean & staff very friendly and helpful!

A must see in Hot Springs .....first saw him 8yrs ago while dating my wife we brought our 4 adopted babies to see him this past weekend and they were amazed (5,7,7,8) while there I lost my wallet they found it today and mailed it to me even though I offered to pay they declined.....these ppl are a total class act and I love Maxs testimony ...Im hoping one of my boys really gets into the illusionist field by playing with the magic kit we got there .....thank yall wont be 8 yrs till we return

Must see if your ever in hot springs!! Very great and entertaining show!! We went as a family and enjoyed every second of it! Afterwards, there is a meet and greet and after we took the picture, he gave the two kids a signed picture and signed the magic set that the youngest child bought. Very very nice person and a great entertainer! We will definitely be back again soon!

My husband gave him $100, came back in a cheese dip was pretty amazing and the other magic trick was turning water into sand, Maxwell singing was excellent, very gifted man, We really enjoyed his show, kept us guessing and entertained throughout his show.

We were a party of 4 30-something adults looking for something to do for our weekend trip to Hot Springs. Id seen a magic and comedy show on a cruise last summer and really enjoyed it, so thought this would be a contender. I worried about it being adult-appropriate, so I looked at many reviews before buying tickets and found that most said the show was good for all ages or great for the family, so we took a chance. However, we didnt feel it was ideal for anyone over 10 or 12 or under about 60. We stayed about 40 minutes before leaving and didnt see a single trick we hadnt already seen before besides one about being a spokesperson for cheese dip. It was honestly just strange and many of the jokes were so bad it was awkward. For many, this might be entertaining. But we travel a lot and see a lot of things, so this didnt really hit the mark. The only real trick we saw was our money disappearing.

We got our tickets online and we sat front and center. Because of our seat location, Blade selected us for a few of his tricks. It was fun to be involved in the show like that. He also calls kids onto the stage, so if you have kids around 5 years old, they may be selected. There was a lot of variety to his tricks, so that was nice to see up close magic and escape magic. In his big card trick, you could see how he changed the cards - not his best trick. He is a great piano player. He is not the best that Ive seen, but being a musician, Magician, and comic, the show overall was a good evening event. The price was worth what I got out of the event. At the end, he does a meet and greet.

Family-friendly involves kids in the show at one point. Nice theater, but for all the money he said he spent we were surprised the sound system wasnt better. Especially given the current technology available. Its especially critical when a joke or humorous story is being told, you arent quite sure what was said. The only reason we give it 4 stars instead of 5 is the sound system. Well choreographed show with fast-paced high-quality Illusions throughout.

Absolutely the most wonderful magic show around. Loads of magic, great comedy music, an all around wonderful night out with Maxwell Blade. The employees are courteous, helpful, and are great during the performance. An outstanding performer, and gives back to the community. Everyone at the Maxwell Blade Theater are the best. Highly recommend going if ever in the Hot Springs area. Will be making a return visit to see the show again, and am a local.

Very entertaining. He has good one liners and spectacular illusions. He had the entire crowd evolved and laughing the entire time. My daughter caught one of the cards that he threw into the audience, she was so excited. He sang songs and played the piano very well. A definite act to see if your in the area.

I went in Oct. 2019, and it was a hoot. It had been a rough couple of years for me with 6 surgeries in only 14 months, and I needed a good laugh. Its family friendly, and I really appreciated Mr. Blades spoken words about faith and perseverance under all odds. **Full disclaimer** I am a magician so this review is from a magician perspective.We saw Maxwell’s show about 10 years ago at the old location. I always try to see local magic wherever we go. At the time, it was a great, family friendly show and I loved that it was a quaint, intimate, setting.We just went back to Hot Springs for a birthday surprise from my wife to me, and part of the trip included going back to see the Maxwell Blade show at the newly renovated Malco Theatre. The oddity museum was free and we ran into Maxwell who was so hospitable and kind. He showed us around personally! He was humble and generous with his time. We came back for the show and the theatre is beautiful. I can tell he poured his heart and soul into this theatre. Every aspect was well thought out from the set design, props, lighting, sound, etc. The operation has grown to include 12 staff members, and now includes some very large illusions that you would typically see on a Vegas stage. Maxwell retained elements of the old show, as well as new ones. His routines are honed over thousands of performances, and you can tell. Routining magic is incredibly complicated and challenging. What he has done with this show is nothing short of impressive and I applaud his efforts and staying power for providing family entertainment for so many years.You can tell he loves to perform and is passionate about performing art. If you’re in the area, you owe it to yourself to see this show.

Was a wonderful experience, Mr. Maxwell was very VERY amazing, when our 1 year old started to cry *before we took her out of the showroom* he made a joke about it, didnt at all get upset or irritated, he was very understanding.. when my son went upstage that made my sons night, and my 5 year old went t school just to show his picture and tell them all about the magic! At the end he greeted everyone, and signed my sons card. Literally Mr. Maxwell and the staff was AMAZING.. I highly recommend this place its an experience you dont want to miss out on!!

I took my 8yr old girl there for her Birthday and Daddy/Daughter date and Maxwell Blade made it a birthday she will remember FOREVER!The guy is funny, he brings kids up and gets them involved and leaves them with a positive message.However...ITS NOT JUST FOR KIDS! A GREAT show!! We were very impressed with his magician skills! He keeps your attention the entire time, is very funny and an impressive piano player! My son (9) loves magic and is always trying to learn new tricks and he was blown away with the show. After the show the stage manager spent almost an hour with my son showing him how to do several tricks that were in the magic kit we purchased. I highly recommend this show! We will be back very soon! :)

It was ok. Seen him many years ago and he was better. More Street magic than illusions. Payed for magic show and got piano playing. Been there done that. No since in wasting my money again.

It was rip off....he thought his magic was spectacular but I’ve seen better Magic from 4 year olds. He sang Elton John songs on the piano and would forget the words and mid song go into a different song. He has a huge ego. He assaulted kids with hair spray to make their hair stand up like his..... one kid left the stage crying. We did not stay for the whole show. Don’t waste your money.

Best show in town. Probably the state. Beautiful stage productions. Great display in the lobby. Beautiful theatre. Fun for the young and old. Great for groups. I will keep coming back.

Ever since I was a little girl I have always been amazed with magicians. And for Christmas last year Mr. Blade gave me and my husband tickets, and let me tell you it was the best gift ever. So go check him out you will not be disappointed.

A lot of fun for the whole family. A bit disappointed that the oddities museum was not available (apparently it is currently down for renovation, as of February 2020). It made no mention of this on their website.

We only saw the close of show with Jonathan but it was definetly worth it for my 4 year old! He interacted with all of the group and made everyone feel welcomed! Staff was great with my daughter taking pics of them! They have an oddity snd curiosity museum with it that is kind of neat as well. We would have seen the big show but she couldnt sit still so maybe when she gets older for sure well be back o experience it all! It sits right on the main street as well so it was nice to walk around before and after! Parking is on the side of the building and its $4 for an hr or you can try your luck at a meter for a quarter every 30 mins (which is easier if you can find a spot!)

Just mind blowing. This guy is fantastic and funny and really nice. Hell get the kids on stage but this is not just kid level magic. A lot of the tricks are amazing. We had the best night of our vacation watching this show. No joke.

First off, the oddities collection/museum was unique and interesting, but not for the faint of heart. That deserves five stars on own. There are concessions, candy, popcorn, soft drinks etc. which are actually affordable in comparison to other venues. Getting to the show, it does vary quite a lot from weekdays to weekends, and its not full of tricks for children although some of the classics are involve. The show was filled with antics, music (some of which performed by Maxwell Blade himself) and strategically separated into segments which all seemed to have a different theme, and the variety kept it interesting and fresh. Great job in execution of illusions and magic. This guy and his team definitely put together a great show. Worth the watch for sure.

Honestly what made this place worth it was seeing Edgar Allan Poes glasses and ink well. There were some interesting pieces and for a personal collection I thought it was impressive but for a paid musuem it wasnt up to par.

As a choice for date night, we thought it would be fun to check out a magic show. I was hoping it wasn’t going to be a waste of time. And it was AMAZING. Me and my boyfriend are in our early twenties and we loves every second. As you looked around the room there was people of all ages and from all places that were amazed and laughing throughout the show. We were pretty skeptical and I cannot figure out how he did the tricks. He put on a great show. The show was so interesting that both me and my boyfriend put off going to the restroom until the show was over because we did not want to miss a second.

This was a lot of fun! The newly renovated theater is beautiful, and Maxwell is quite a seasoned performer, a great showman and MC with a great repertoire of tricks including lots of good closeup practical magic. He Incorporated kids into his act two great comedic effect, and had lots of interesting stories and feel good insights. Highly recommended. And check out the museum of curiosities and oddities if you want a dose of the macabre.

This place was absolutely amazing. I love the old history of the building and the fact that he had invested so much money into bringing something back to Hot Springs. The show was worth every penny if not more. I havent been to see any live entertainment in a long time but I would recommend anybody to drive the couple hours from Shreveport to go see this place. Even if you do nothing else in Hot Springs youve got to go check out Maxwell blade one of the best magicians I have ever seen

This old theater has been brought back to its former glory and houses Maxwell blades magic show. There is also a component of comedy and music in the show but his magic is really whats worth catching. While a lot of the tricks or Staples that most magicians know, Maxwell blades sleight-of-hand is quite impressive. His down-to-earth demeanor and personality also shines through in the show.

Fun evening with friends. Maxwell was especially good with kids and called them up stage to help. A fun evening for all ages.
