Beautiful, as always! A perfect sunny day, with a cooling breeze accompanied by the light from the sun glinting off of and refracting through the water. So glad we went for a walk this afternoon!
I think we could stand to upgrade the beach area. It is a wonderful spot and could use a better parking lot, entrance and lighting. It is a gem and desert a little polishing.
The best place in Alaska! I feel so good and grounded when Im here. Best place to reset, relax and enjoy yourself
Beautiful beach. My favorite place to reset my mind. Its like a screensaver from a computer lol.
Beautiful beach in Homer. Eagles often visit.
Weve been to Bishops Beach many times over the years, but the most recent visit was the first time we utilized the picnic tables--it was a nice place to enjoy our takeout food before taking a walk on the beach, looking for treasures, etc. The only disappointment was to find the real bathrooms closed and be stuck with porta-potties. Ug...we all know how pleasant that is.
You will see a lot of locals here. Great place to walk around and just have a conversation with a friend.
Super fun. Great place for a fire pit and flying a kite.
Great tide pooling and sandy beach.
Beach combing is fun. Eagle dropped down on the beach to eat a fish right in front of us.
Great place to walk around at low tide. Amazing views :)
Visit at low tide, you can walk and play out on the sands so much further. Parking is minimal and if you have a larger RV, find somewhere else to park because you wont be able to turn around.
Easy to find, good parking and clean beach
Awesome view, easier to walk the beach than the Spit, but less crowded at the Spit and better finds for shells and driftwood
This was a great place to exercise our dog, Alexis. It is her new favorite place. It was heaven on earth for her, and the reason my car now needs detailed. Beautiful place to walk people too.
I got here as tourists were leaving, and its much nicer when dogs and people are gone. Wild life is happy when fools are nowhere to be found.
Great local spot to stop and walk the trails and see tide pools in low tide. We just grabbed some deli food at a Safeway near there and enjoyed a great picnic.
Welcome to the beach have a nice walk with a loved one or the kids and take it all in
Probably the number one spot to go if you visit Homer. Serene, with a nice board walk that connects to other areas of the town. Cant see the sunset or sunrise directly, but you do get stunning views of the mountains across the bay.
If you love dog poop and people screaming and yelling at dogs then you’ll love Bishops Beach. No dogs on leashes, so bye bye to ground nesting chicks and since Safeway gives out plastic bags, one can find plenty of plastic bags to put all the plastic trash in. You have to get away from Alaskans to enjoy what is left of nature. There are a few spots where they haven’t tilled the land with quads, mined, drilled, cleared, paved or polluted. Two stars for the clean toilets.
It’s mesmerizing. You have to visit it to feel it
Great place for sea life and a walk
Beautiful and peaceful.
Fantastic beach! Wonderful to walk on at low tide. Such a wonderful place
The dog loves this beach! I dont know why maybe because every other dog loves this beach too.
Wonderfully scenic and bird sanctuary in the salt water flats
Best beachcombing
Nice beach to stroll on, watch the water, and see wildlife. Just be careful they allow vehicles and homeless camps.
Super great views!
Cool place!
Nothinh here except a spot to barbeque with a couple picnic tables under a roof top. Nothing extravagant.
Bishops beach has a wonderful long beach to traverse, especially at low tide, the possibility becomes endless. Watch out for falling rocks and quakes when under the cliff and you will be just fine. Lovely spot
A must do while in Homer.
Wonderful place to take a long walk, amazing lighting at sunset - the surrounding mountains really hold you.
Great place to walk you pup collect rocks and watch sea life
Its da beach
What a gorgeous place........do need to say more ??? wish we could spend a lot more time there. If you plan to visit, try to get there when the tide is low.....you might find some cool stuff under the rocks and sea weeds.
Me and my dog enjoy low tide every day
It was pretty down there to smell the fresh air and listen to the waves crash into the beach
Too many cops
Was very beautiful, beach needs some attention, cleaning!
Great view. Good walking, I visit often.
Absolutely gorgeous view, nothing will replace it
Always a great place to come and relax.
Awesome place to run the dogs when tide is out!!
We spent about an hour here walking the trail and the beach. We almost literally ran into a moose, only missing because our youngest member was looking up instead of down at the plants and path as we walked. A few semi-tense minutes passed, as did the moose, and we were able to continue along the path. Easy parking. A couple of clean toilet facilities (the kind where you are really just going in a john over a big hole.) Looks like some good places to grab food nearby and visit the nature center just up the hill which was not open when we got there.
Such beauty and peace here
Not suppose to camp here because of dumb people being taken in by the tide. But if you get the chance to do it it is awesome
Good spot to walk dogs, kid friendly in the afternoon although generally folks having lil bonfires in the evening.
Great pizzas and service...
Rockey beach great for swimming if you can handle the cold!
Pulling trucks out off the beach
My family LOVES to explore around Bishops! Awesome place to walk our dog, also!
This amazing Beach holds the heart of Homer. From the beginning of time, some of my first steps were taken on Bishops Beach and I can only hope some of my Last will be held in that sand.
Great place for people watching
A nice beach to walk along the shore. The view here is fantastic and youll be able to get lots of great waterscapes, mountain shots and even possibly some wildlife pictures, including bald eagles. The waves never really crash like a west coast beach but, rather, gently lap at the shore. Access to the beach is not great and youll have to trek down some muddy slopes. If you go the boots, though, I recommend trudging down to the beach and spending an hour or two here.
Beautiful!
Miss my Alaska natural wilderness beauty.. Homer is surrounded by the most beautiful mountains I have seen in person.
A nice place with lots of rocks on the sand, but rarely are there shells, and not as much creatures.on the spit there is a spot on the right when your heading out, its by the icecream shop and there are rocks that are super slick, but have lots of critters! Hermit crabs, snails, lots of shells, and sometimes even little fish, and even more that i dont know what it is! If you do come here with a young one, a young kid like a toddler, your going to want to make sure you hold their hand so they dont fall and get seriously injured. Also, under the icecream shop there is a bouy swing that you could placy on. Its the best at low tide. You can find the low tide(s) for kachemak bay online or in a tide book which you can find at any general store down here. Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoy your time here at the beach, well... beaches of homer i should say. Thanks for reading!
Good place with toilets and pic nic table and grass. Parking with beach access with fire pit on the beach. Nice mountains view.
One of the most serene spots in Homer
Too cold water to be called beach. Marvelous view.
A beautiful beach centrally located in downtown (can we really call it a downtown?) Homer. Its a fun place to explore and gather shells with kids or take a dog for a walk. Its also close to Two Sisters, where you can pick up a great cup of coffee and a phenomenal sticky bun. The view of Katchemak bay and the mountains is transcendent. Spend a little time here, you will not regret it!
Typical Alaskan beach. Areas for using quads, small park area. Grilling, tents.
When were looking to get away and enjoy some relaxing time in Homer we often make our way to Bishops Beach in old town Homer. This is a nice area to relax, walk on the beach and have a quiet walk on the new Beluga Slough trail that is accessed from the parking lot. Been coming here for some 30 years and never get tired of it. When youre in Homer, give some thought to visiting Bishops Beach.
Nice place to relax and stroll
Ah! My soul needed the beach, and Bishops did not disappoint
Fun area to explore
Awesome beach to go for walk.
Great place for hunting agates
Short distance from the main road. Dog friendly but keep small or toy breeds close on leash. Eagles about. Not safe for small breeds to roam loose.
Paid a visit to Bishops Beach while visiting family in Homer. There are lots of nice walking paths here and its calm, peaceful and beautiful. Great place to just hang out, relax and enjoy the scenery.
Beautiful spot to stop. Grab some snacks and a coffee from the bakery on the corner and enjoy the view.
Best beach in homer
Y need to go there
Love this place, great place to run my dogs later in three evening when theyre less people.
Fantastic view of the glaciers and mountain ranges. Parking is limited but can park in the Marine Refuge building and walk the trail leading to the beach.
Best beach in Alaska
Nice place to walk and pick up pieces of natural coal from the beach.
This is a breathtaking place to take in views and take your dog to play.
Always beautiful & calming
Beautiful clean beach. Fun to look for treasures and enjoy the beautiful view.
Nice beach. Worth the stop. Nice for bare feet on a sunny day....if the tides out.
Love spending an evening watching the sun set here. Great trails too.
A nice beach to hangout at during low tide. Tons of room for dogs to run and play. Amazing views.
Great place to sit and relax.
