Amazing company for a bear vist when you are in Homer. We went in the first week of September, which made for some bad weather days. Our pilot was also our tour guide and he was great. We were about 10 feet from a 1000 lb brown bear. He could have cared less about us being there. It was an amazing experience.Thanks to the alaska bear adventure team for an amazing experience.

Our family came down from Fairbanks to see more treasures in our own state. These bears are a true spectacle of nature and its clear the guys running Alaska Bear adventures feel the same. They were respectful of their space and still brought us close enough to make the primal hair on the back of your neck stand up straight. Ben was our pilot and he was a great guide - very accommodating to everyone in the group and gave us a little extra circle in the air of the bear country when we left. Very satisfying experience. This was my first wildlife tour in Alaska and I am hooked.They made this whole process from booking to checking in on arrival very easy and efficient. Communication was open and friendly and I never had to wait long for any response to an email I sent.The tour itself was beyond belief. I waited for months to go and in the blink of an eye three hours went by in one magical moment.The guides Derrick and Joe were fantastic from start to finish. I never felt unsafe the whole time I was out there. They made it clear they were about showing us an amazing day but that safety was their number one priority while leading us.They gained my trust and my business and I will be booking with them again!Thankful for a great day.

We were hesitant to do this trip due to the price but it was 100% worth it. Definitely a highlight of our trip. We took a 6-person plane over to Lake Clark National Park and had the hole park to ourselves. We landed on the beach surrounded by 50+ grizzlies. A mama bear and her cubs came within 10 feet of us. It was amazing! Our guide Derick really made the trip lighthearted and fun - he was one of the best tour guides we have ever had. Dont hesitate - take this trip!

There are dozens of bear viewing tours available in Homer, Alaska. However if Alaska Bear Adventures has availability during your visit, CHOOSE THEM!Their customer service rates an A+. They will remember you and treat you as a personal guest.Of course, the pilots are the most important part of your trip. Again, ABA has to have the best. You want them to be safe, be good guides, and also know how to make sure you have a good time.Joe was my pilot. He earns an A+++ on all three criteria. But I am sure the other pilot would also have earned an equally high of rating - sorry, but even though I met him and he chatted with me I have forgotten his name.

What an amazing day! I never thought I’ll see bears so close in my life. And the flight back and forth was just beautiful.

It’s great experience... I’m afraid of heights and flights in general.. I had sleepless night before the day of the tour.. but the flight was smooth.. the air boat was really fun.. the guides were really awesome... and very informative... viewed bear with three cubs the moment we landed.. then we saw a bear catching 3 salmons..: and also a wolf catching a salmon.. which is rare... two adolescent bear running on the beach.. an bald eagle scavenging the remains of what the bear ate... lucky to have a nice weather... it is a trip to remember for life time...

Our best experience in Alaska. The pilots are very nice and knowledgeable. With their help, we saw the mommy bear with two curbs walking in front of us within 30 feet. Later, the pilots even decided to fly us to a second place to ensure we have the best experience where we saw how the bear digs the clams. THANK YOU

The Alaska Bear Adventure was the most amazing thing I have ever done! It was the highlight of our Alaska trip. We only saw a few bears but we were able to stay with one bear up close, watching him catch fish. It was awesome! Our guide Ben was wonderful. He knew the travel pattern of the bears and was able to get us close. The plane ride over the mountains, volcanoes, and glaciers was breathtaking! I would recommend Alaska Bear Adventures to anyone who likes beautiful scenery, wildlife viewing and the Alaska wilderness!

What a great experience! And so worth it. The pilots were great ! The views flying over to Lake Clark were stunning and the time with the bears was so incredible. ABAs newest tour the Fly & Float is unbelievably amazing. Right out the gate---from the office staff to the pilot and airboat captains---we were impressed and comforted by the professionalism and no nonsense attention paid to our safety. The views from both the plane and the boat were breathtaking and the wildlife abundant (not kidding---we saw 25+ bears). The airboat is a blast---the captains knowledge and sense of humor kept us engaged and excited for the entire trip. Simply the best---you gotta go!!

This is a review from a bunch of years ago. Hopefully they have changed some of their policies and safety measures. I’m not surprised this company changed their name from k bear after a bunch of negative reviews on yelp. We had a scary and to put it mildly not great time. They decided to take off in bad rainy weather. Greedy. We saw nothing on the flight over because of bad weather. Arrived, and spent the whole time sloshing in a downpour. Did see a few bears through the weather. Sloshed back to plane. On takeoff plane started going up A little a then lunges down and hit the beach with a thud. We waited hours in the cold and dark with no food or anything for rescue plane. Got back at midnight. No apologies, no refunds, not even a dinner voucher. Good grief. In my yelp review the owner told lies about what happened. No I did not demand a refund or I’d give a negative review. No the other guests did not trek back out to view more bears in the cold and the dark. ..plus other falsehoods in attempt to further not take ANY responsibility. I am a seasoned traveler, and a business owner. This irresponsible flight and response was shameful.

My friend and I decided to do this as the first day of our 6 day trip and boy was it the best possible start to our vacation. We met all the different guides before the tour and each of them was so fun & energetic! We were matched with Joe who was PERFECT. My friend and i are fairly silly and were mainly there for a good time and he was right there with us.We did the full day tour from about 7:00AM - 3:00PM(ish) - We flew to the Lake Clark National Park and had a little over an hour in the plane on the way there (with insane views). Once we landed we spent about 3 hours among the bears. We saw bears fight, mate, clam, poop, sleep, and one of them walked up about 15 feet away from us. The flight home was about the same amount of time and our guide took us over volcanos!! Truly some of the most beautiful views Ive ever seen.10/10 I recommend this to anyone coming to Alaska (4.5 hours from anchorage)

Our #1 experience in Alaska was trekking with the coastal brown bears (grizzlies) in Katmai National Park. Our trip with Alaska Bear Adventures was everything perfect & more. Our pilot & guide Derrick was awesome! We took a 6 seater Cessna from Homer & landed on the beach in Katmai. Then we hiked through the fields & watched these majestic animals in their natural habitat. Cubs & adolescent bears played in the fields while the adult bears grazed on the grass. This is a must do while in Alaska!!

We took the Fly&Float tour in August 2019 and were absolutely stunned about how far out into the wilderness this tour got us with the least possible strain on us. With three children, the youngest four and not a very cooperative hiker, we felt we couldnt do the classic tour that requires a good bit of hiking. So we decided for the air boat which we had never been on before and had second thoughts about. Although our worst fear (high noise level) was confirmed, our guides made sure we were least disruptive to our environment. There was ear protection for each of us, but most of the time we would just sit there, motor off, watch and wait for the bears to approach us. And it became clear to me whenever we moved to a new spot that being out here is only possible on foot or with an air boat - the water is not deeper than a foot, most parts a lot more shallow.The tour was truly magic and although not everyone in our party agrees to the same highlights (the kids say that flying in a float plane and driving in the air boat at high speed was the best, whereas my husband and I savored every moment of watching the animals we came to see) we all undoubtedly had lots of fun!Big kudos to our tour guides Duncan and Scott. They live out in the wild all summer in order to guide these tours and they have a vast knowledge about this beautiful place and these amazing animals. It is wonderful to listen to their stories and both are awesome with kids! They had our children all covered whenever the sitting and waiting got a little too boring and entertained them with mud games and switching pilots so that we were able to enjoy the wildlife uninterrupted.Thank you so much to the whole Alaska Bear Adventures team!

Alaska Bear Adventures and their guide, Duncan made every detail of this trip incredible. I have grown up in Alaska my whole life, visited over 50 countries, and this was one of the coolest, most beautiful things I have ever seen. Alaska Bear Adventures is worth every penny. Their unique system combining a float plane and (when you land out there) an air boat makes seeing and hanging out with the bears easy, accessible, and safe. While other trips leave you standing way off on the beach with binoculars to see the bears, the air boat can safely bring you right up to all the action. The guides were very knowledgeable and made sure our experience was exceptional. Thank you Alaska Bear Adventures!

Absolutely amazing experience! Ben was such an awesome guide, but you couldnt go wrong with any of the three we had today. They are funny, yet keep safety a priority. They also adjust their tour to the group. For example, our group was more there for the experience, so we walked around a ton, while another group was there with their tripods and were able to set up camp and be more patient in each area. From the plane views to wildlife to park scenery, it was all above expectations. Highly recommend - thanks for an unforgettable adventure Ben!

Very good experience. Professional presentation of pre-trip requirements, day-of safety info, issuance of gear. Pilot Meed is professional, accommodating, engaged with his clients. Any trip involving wildlife needs some divine assistance of good weather, wildlife presence and that they dont feel threatened in any way. We had it and had a very good opportunities to watch more than a dozen bears doing their thing.

Thrill of a lifetime!! Every second was exciting! From taking off a lake in a float plane, to the plane ride with break breathtaking views, landing in the wilderness to be picked up by an Air boat. Then the close encounters with beautiful bears was so surreal. Our bear expert guide (Duncan ) knew so many interesting facts about the Bears habits and nature that we felt safe as we enjoyed watching the Bears in their natural habitat, digging for clams, running through the water, relaxing and even saw a big bear interested in pursuing a “girlfriend”. From the beginning till the very end this was a 10 star adventure. If you’re planning on going to Homer Alaska this is a must!

This bear tour was by far the highlight of our Alaska trip. We did the longer tour, so we were on the beach with the bears for about 3 hours. And it was incredible!!! Our tour guides flew over two different national parks before we landed, making the tour already worth our money. The views were breathtaking. Then, the guides made sure to select the national park with the most bears that day which Im very thankful for. I cant even count how many bears we saw! There was mama and cub, bears grazing in meadows, clamming on the beach, mating, playing, and much more. What an unforgettable experience! They also make sure to keep the tour groups really small, so it doesnt feel like youre surrounded by a million tourists. Its a true authentic Alaskan experience! And shout out to our incredible guide Bear Man Joe for showing us an amazing time!!

We had an awesome fly and float excursion with Tom as our pilot and Duncan and Scott as our guides. Bob and I would give them 10 stars, instead of 5 if possible!! They were so informative and patient with us, making our trip so amazing!! What a great company from the girls that we worked with us making our reservation to our excursion!! Fly and Float bear viewing was AMAZING! Worth every penny and then sum!My husband and I went in the Alaska Bear Adventure Fly and Float bear viewing trip this past week. It was exciting to fly in a float place, amazing to see the scenery in the air and on land, and mind blowing to ride in the hover craft to get so close to wildlife. We saw many bears (sleeping, catching salmon, walking around), wolves, eagles, otters, seals, fox, salmon and other birds. The float boat was great because we could get close to the wildlife and cover a lot of ground. Duncan and Scott were awesome, informative, knowledgeable guides and Tom was a fantastic pilot that got us to and from very safely. The trip is pricey but definitely worth it. And a great bonus - Duncan and Scott take pictures during the land portion and send the link post trip so you can sit back and really enjoy the day rather than only being obsessed with capturing the moment on camera. Thanks Alaska Bear Adventures for a perfect Alaskan experience!

Our trip with Alaska Bear Adventures was fantastic! Our pilot/guide/photographer Alec led us on an amazing journey. He flew us over glaciers and volcanoes that were spectacular and expertly landed us on the beach at Katmai. We saw about 15 grizzlies and Alec kept us informed and safe the whole time. After our walk through the meadows and shallow streams we had a great flight back too. We highly recommend the classic trip with Alec!!

Our Alaska Bear Adventures trip was the highlight of our 10-day trip to Alaska. At first, we did not think it was going to happen because the Swan Lake wildfire had closed the road to Homer and we could not get down there in time for our flight. But the staff at ABA called us the next day and said that if we could get to Homer later in the week, they would make every effort to fit us in. We had to change everything on our itinerary, but it was totally worth it. We ended up doing the Fly & Float excursion and, in my opinion, this option is the reason to see the bears with ABA. While the air boat is loud, it allows you to get very close to the bears, the scenery is beautiful, and is so much fun. Duncan and Scott were amazing guides – their knowledge of the bear and all things Alaska made the day so enjoyable.

This was a fantastic experience and apparently the only one that enables you to see the bears in a boat. That may sound strange to want to be in a boat but it enabled us to move around and see the bears close up -- and see more bears. We started a tour with another company that would have had us hike around, so that we would have been on our feet the whole time -- and probably not see as much. The helicopter had mechanical problems so we went on the tour with Alaska Bear Adventures and Im so glad we did. Duncan is a very good guide.

I am 53 years old and have traveled all over the world, and I have to say that my day with my family and Alaska Bear Adventures and K Bay Air was absolutely the best vacation day I’ve ever had! From the beginning to the very end, the trip was fantastic, smooth, exciting, and ridiculously fun! The flight-seeing to Hallo Bay was so pretty (gorgeous weather, too), but the return trip back was just incredible (think volcanoes, glaciers, waterfalls, and mountaintops)! Even better than the flight, though, was getting to see the incredible bears living in their natural habitat (and in front of a beautiful glacier, no less). Even before we landed on the beach, I could see so many bears below, and I knew that we were in for an exciting time. Dylan was our guide, and he was just awesome! He was extra safe from the time we left Homer, knew the answer to every question we had, was extremely patient, and was just so very kind and enjoyable to be with in general. Oh, and he took the best pictures! I can’t say enough good things about the entire experience. It truly was THE perfect day!!!

We flew into Hallo Bay with Meed as our pilot and guide and had an amazing time! There were huge bears with cubs all around us but Meed explained everything to us and created a safe fun environment for bear viewing. We saw 7 different sets of cubs from 1-3 in each family. There were cubs that weren’t a yr old yet and others around 3 yrs.Flying in, Meed took us around the volcanos and glaciers for some pretty incredible sights!This trip is definitely worth your time!

Best tour, walking so close to these animals

This was an amazing experience. Im so glad I did it. I would say, though, that the terrain was more difficult to walk than what I had been led to believe. The ground was slushy, and slippery. Our pilot was careful to help me, and I definitely needed his help. I think customers should be told that the terrain is challenging and slippery so that they are prepared what to expect. Otherwise, it was a fantastic trip.

This trip was amazing and highlight of our 3.5 week stay in Alaska. We saw a mom with 3 cubs, a male and female playing together, and many more bears! Alec was our pilot/guide and wonderful!

I went to Alaska with a primary objective of seeing bear. I was not disappointed. This was our most expensive excursion, I’m usually frugal when it comes to non essentials. I would pay for this ABA trip over and over, it was an amazing experience. I could hear a female bear with cubs panting, and popping her jaw when a large male approached. I felt safe at all times and I also felt that ABA went out of their way to respect the bear’s space. I had to pee in the bushes, hike across uneven terrain in large rubber boots, sit in the dirt, and skipped lunch because we were too busy, but I loved every minute. Thanks ABA, I highly recommend you and hope to fly with you again some day.

Had an amazing day flying over Alaskas breathtaking scenery to Chinitna Bay and seeing brown bears close-up! I really appreciated our pilot Derek. He was a blast, and I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone able to go!

This was by far the most amazing tour. This far exceeded any expectation that we had. You are flown by a float plane over to this very beautiful area. There are no tourists around. You then get into an air boat to go out to see the Bears. You are not standing on the side of a river watching bears. You are not looking down on them from an airplane. You are out right near the Bears. We stopped the boat quite a ways from the Bears but being curious they came to us. They got probably less than 20 yards from us before our guide told them they had to go a different direction. It was just awesome. You cant find a better tour than this. The pilot Tom that flew us over as well as Scott and Duncan are guides on the airboat were absolutely wonderful. They made the time while we were sitting waiting for the Bears to come absolutely enjoyable. Plus they were taking lots of pictures and you get a link to those pictures. You can download them for free. If you want pictures that are better for big portraits you do need to pay but for your usual use its all free. Again what an amazing tour. You will not find a better opportunity for really seeing bears.

This was an amazing experience. Derrick our pilot was fabulous. The flight out to see the bears had spectacular views of the glaciers and active volcanos. We saw 30+ bears which included 4 mothers with 2 cubs each and one with 3 cubs. This is the best excursion we did in Alaska a must for anyone in Homer.Mike Goodfred Raleigh, NC

We joined the Alaska Bear Tour and we were very disappointed. If you expect to see bears catching fish or clams, chances are you wont see it. We only saw a few bears walking around on the grass, very boring.The mountain view on the plane is great and the pilot/guide is very friendly though.Overall, we believe that the price is too high, half of the price may work, saving your money to join other activities.

The guides and company support setup were incredibly professional, experienced, informed, and safe. Our pilot was top and could fly anything, anywhere in the world; he chooses to work in one of the neatest places I have ever seen on earth. He had great insights, and enhanced our time in the park immeasurably. Everything they did and knew from experience was careful and safe. The bears were amazing. Primordial Alphas happily in their own habitat. I have been to India, Easter island, the Pantanal Brazil, and traveled in 49 states. I am back to from Alaska a few days ago and still have the images from the bear viewing trip in my head. It was such a great experience for my whole family! The view from the small plane ride was incredibly beautiful, and the bear view experience on the ground is even better. We watched the bears grazing, clamming, napping, and walking right by us. It was peaceful. Our pilot/guide Meed was awesome! He was informative, caring and fun! We felt safe with him around. I hope the bears will stay undisturbed and not interested in human for as long as possible, so it would be safe for people to visit them.

Just the flight to the location was unbelievable let alone viewing the bears. We saw at least 20 different bears and several came within 25-35 yards from us breathtaking!

This is one of the best experiences I ever had. Totally recommended. We went with our 3 kids (12,9,6) and my father in law - and it was amazing. Highly recommended.

Amazing experience! Honestly I was kinda unwilling to take this adventure to begin with----price tag was on the high side for us and we had already seen bears in Denali NP couple of times, but my wife convinced me to go. As you know, women are always right! We were so lucky that the weather suddenly cleared up on our day of flight after two weeks of rain, so we got to see this AWESOME view of Alaskan volcano and glaciers and forests and lakes.... Every minute on the plane we were shooting the great scenery below and around. As another reviewer claimed: the flight was worth the ticket. The bear encounter was equally exciting, if not more. We have seen bears in the wildness before, but never like this. Our pilot/guide Earl got us in multiple strategic points where we saw bears fishing, running, resting at close distance. We even watched a mommy bear with 3 cubs enjoyed a salmon dinner together. This is, in my sons word, JUST SO COOL! We share our photos with friends and some of them were like: damn I felt I havent been to Alaska though we have been there couple of times.....We really enjoyed this adventure, which is a highlight of our 2016 Alaska trip.

If you only do one thing in Alaska, save your money and do this!! The guides are funny and know a lot about bear behavior and we were as up close and personal as people could ever get. We had a momma nursing two new cubs right on the beach where we landed, and for really close to a bear digging for clams. We did the one where you spend three hours with the bears, and they even flew over and did flight seeing and went right by a volcano at the end. Once in a lifetime event, for sure!! Bring a long lens and they supply waders and a great rime!

We took our 8 1/2 year old twins on the classic day trip and had a wonderful time on Katmai. Jamie was our pilot and guide and we really enjoyed our day with him. The flight alone was spectacular. Gorgeous scenery!! Jamie was knowledgeable, kept us informed on what we needed to do, and we always felt safe. He had a great sense of humor that was perfect for our girls. The small hike to the meadow wasnt difficult for them even in their waders. We were privileged to watch a Momma bear and her 3 cubs just across the stream. I could have watched the cubs wrestling for hours. Then we hiked up the beach when the tide was out onto the mud flats to watch a small bear digging for clams. With Jamies guidance we were able to kneel down quite close and observe. He took family pictures for us and the pictures he took with his camera of our day were much better than ours. We all had a blast and I would highly recommend this trip.

This is one of the best animal adventures I’ve ever done. The plane trip to Lake Clark National Park was spectacular, and we literally saw bears as soon as we landed. I can’t believe how many bears there were. We even saw a bear chase down a bald eagle to steal its fish. Amazing!! Forget about Kodiak Island; this is a better experience.

We had a great time out on this adventure. The whole staff was pleasant, informative, and as helpful as can be. The pilots and guides were fun and helpful and patient during our tour. Truly want to thank them all, had a pleasant experience and loved seeing the bears!

From beginning to end this trip was well worth it! The flight was beautiful, and spending 3 hours with the bears was perfect. We were lucky enough to see a mama with two cubs, and several other adults in the area-I think I counted 10 bears total. Our guide Derick was great, as were all the staff we interacted with. We loved our tour with ABA! The combo of airplane and airboat worked very well for us as we only had half a day. We got to see plenty of brown bears in different settings, as well as some harbor seals. The scenery was amazing and the ABA staff (pilot, guide, boatman) were all top notch. We enjoyed our tour and would recommend this highly.

1st of all the staff the coordinated the booking was top notch and helpful as could be from the 1st moment we called until we arrived. After being provided with hip waders and our safety flotation device we were picked up by pilot Tom via sea plane and flown across the cook inlet to Lake Clark National Park where we skirted volcanoes and glaciers before landing in the Chinitna Bay and boarded the airboat captained by scott and duncan. The airboat smoothly slid amongst the sandbars and river braids to where the bear were fishing. Unlike other bear viewings, where the bear are in front of you, from the boat the bear are in every direction around you. At one point our panoramic view had 14 grizzlies in sight and 2 bald eagles. The 3 of us plus 2 guides were the only humans in sight. This is wild Alaska as few people ever get to see it. Remarkable landscapes with the thrill of watching bear play and feed in Americas 3rd least visited national park without other parties in the vicinity. Alaska Bear Adventure is the only outfit running this trip and as of now they only have 1 airboat so you are guaranteed a truly unique experience your friends will be amazed by.

My husband booked this as a surprise, and it was hands-down one of the coolest things I have ever got to experience. It is one of the only places in the world where you can see bears in their natural habitat, with minimal impact to their environment. Weve done safaris in Africa, but nothing compares walking within 20-30 feet (sometimes closer!) of these amazing bears.Mikes family runs the company, and his team of pilots are fantastic and their passion for the animals, environment and your experience is 1st class. This is an absolutely must - check if off the life bucket list!

This was the adventure that I was looking forward to. The adventure was great experience. Our guides were great and we spent a long time watching and photographing a mother and her three cubs. The outfitter takes great pride in your safety and how they run the business to make sure you have a wonderful time. The views while flying back and forth were amazing and I got more than enough photos.Thanks for a fun time, it went to quick.

The highlight of my Alaskan trip! Enjoyed the plane ride out to the tundra. Magnificent views of glaciers and snow capped mountains. Enjoyed landing on the beach and walking on the tundra photographing the numerous bears. Would recommend to anybody who wants the Alaskan experience.

If you plan to visit Alaska, this should be at the top of your list of things to do! Alaska Bear Adventures is one of the most spectacular tours to do while in Alaska. The short plane ride to Katmai National Park & Reserve allows you to view Alaska from above with its beautiful scenery. Once you land at the national park, your guide gives you two rules and then you are off. YOU WILL SEE BEARS! This was a totally awesome experience, Mike was a great guide, and at one point we had 13 bears surrounding us. I would suggest going in the summer months so you can see the momma bears with their cubs.I highly recommend this day trip, you will not regret one second of it!

I have been all over the world. Alaska as a whole is for sure one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. This excursion blew everything we did on our trip out of the water. The views from the plane ride, combined with the once in a lifetime experience of interacting with wild bears made this trip worth every penny. I would highly recommend looking into this if you are in the Homer area - you wont be disappointed.

What a great trip. A surreal experience watching these creatures from ground level. The guides were great, the planes were in good condition and the experience was well worth the price of admission if you can splurge on your trip in Alaska. It was definitely one of the highlights of the trip and a great opportunity to explore the Alaskan wilderness (both during the flight and on foot) and see the bears. Would definitely recommend doing this if you find yourself in Homer.

Thank you to Dee and the staff of Alaska Bear Adventures for providing me with a once in a lifetime adventure. Im an Alaska resident and have seen bears before, but nothing like this. There is really no other place to be in such close proximity to bears and to feel safe. We observed several bears digging for clams at low tide including a mother and cub. We also watched the mother and cub come in to shore, walk right next to us, climb a bluff and find a safe place to nurse.The flight to and from Hallo Bay proved to be almost equally amazing for me as we flew directly over the crater lake of Mount Douglas and past several glaciers. I loved flying along the coast and being able to see into the interior of Kachemak Bay State Park as well.Our pilots/guides were knowledgeable and personable and they took lots of photos as well. All of their photos were available for viewing and downloading online the day after our trip. A nice perk as they had photos of the group that I did not have.

This was one of the best things I have ever done. Being out in the natural habitat with the bears was surreal.

We had a fantastic day with Michael. What impressed us most was his knowledge of the bears, and his obvious respect for their habitat. We got close enough to take some great photos of the bears without disturbing them. Its well worth the trip to Homer for this wonderful experience.

The highlight of our Alaska trip. The flight-seeing was almost mystical. The actual bear experience was fantastic. Despite our proximity to many,many bears we never felt in danger. Bears put on a great show. Our photos and ABAs photos spectacular. Highly recommend this experience!

This was the single most spectacular thing I have ever done it my life! Its been seven months and my nephew and I think of it daily. I still look at the pics and videos almost every day! I loved it so much I am booking again this year!! Its WELL WORTH THE MONEY FOR A LIFETIME OF MEMORIES!!

Highly Recommend Alaska Bear Adventures!! The guides were terrific, very informative, and made us feel very safe. Incredible scenery on the flight in, as well as plenty of bear on the beach.

My wife and I took the flight to see the bears with K Bay Air. Awesome trip. Hands down the best day of our 3 weeks in Alaska. Mike and Jack and the rest of the crew are top notch. The pictures you see are real, not some photo shop brochure stuff. We were so close you could actually smell the salmon as the bears devoured it. Its hard not to feel intimidated when you are so close to these massive creatures, but I never once felt like we were in danger. Mikes group show a tremendous respect for the bears and the environment. With the small group there was minimal impact and no trace other than foot prints that we were even there. This trip definitely will change the way you look at bears. I should also mention how wonderful the flight was. Breathtaking scenery. They took the time to circle back and show us volcanoes, mountains, glaciers, wolves, and moose. Alaska is so much more beautiful when you see it up close from the air. Dont miss this trip. A very professional operation concerned for our safety as well as the safety of the bears. Lake Clark NP is a beautiful place to visit and see wildlife as it is meant to be. Meed, our pilot/guide was very knowledgable about the bears and the area. On the way back, he took us on a flightseeing tour to the top of Iliamna Volcano were we could smell the sulfur coming from the volcano vents. We were so busy enjoying ourselves that we didnt have time to eat the lunch we brought.

This bear viewing trip was the highlight of my vacation in Alaska. Its absolutely amazing to be able to fly out to Hallo Bay and walk between the bears without impacting their environment or disturbing them in their natural habitat. Its also amazing how close you get to them and how close they approach you, even the mothers with their little spring cubs (to within 20-30 feet).Mike and his family run an amazing company and its definitely an experience to recommend when youre visiting Alaska (and Homer).

My wife Donna & I thoroughly enjoyed our fantastic experience with Alaska Bear Adventures. Booking the trip was easy with the assistance of their wonderful staff. Our pilot & guide Joe was awesome. His sense of humor was a definite bonus. We counted 18 bears that day. We had one boar follow a sow in estrus within 15 yards of our party. Joe was calm & cool as he gentlyencouraged the rather amorous bruin to continue his pursuit of his intended mate. My wife has been marveling & laughing at Joes address to the love/list stricken beast when the bear stopped & looked at our party grouped together on one knee. Good bear. Nothing here bear. Better keep going after her. Dont let her get away. Thats what you want. The bear seemed to understand Joe the Bear Whisperer, turned his head and rambled across the steam to the sow who had stopped to feed on the grass.Joe also spotted a whale as we flew back to Homer & took a quick turn or two to let us view the whale.Thank you Alaska Bear Adventure for an epic day. Adventure is out there!

What a perfect day! We made the trip to Katmai on our second day in Alaska. It was amazing! Only bummer was almost nothing we did after this compared. Earlier reviews raved, and I wondered if the bear viewing could really be that good, but it was beyond anything we could have hoped for. It is a perfect way to see the very best that Alaska has to offer in terms of its beauty and ruggedness, in a very personal way. There are not throngs of boats, people or planes. I would encourage anyone to do whatever they can to make this part of their Alaska experience as you can fit a month of Alaska into one day with this trip. Tom was a competent, mellow, easygoing guide who made us all feel safe. He didnt get too close to the bears or stay too far away. It was perfect all around!

What a wonderful afternoon! I felt like I was on a safari. We took an hour long scenic small plane trip to the location and could see bears from the plane before we even landed on the beach! Biggest thrill was how close we would walk up to the bears and let the bears walk up to us! A bit of an adrenaline rush, to say the least. Thanks, guys!

My wife and I went on a trip in late August, what a great time. We were spoiled with great weather which made this an amazing trip. The pilots and guides both were excellent. We all felts very safe with their years of experience and the knowledge they shared with us.You have to go! Dont hesitate, it will be one of the best things you ever experienced. Living the dream. I cant wait to come back, and I will!

This was a 5 star event for us. Our kids will not believe that we walked with the grizzlies!

This was the highlight of our Alaska motorcycle tour and well worth every penny. Michael, the owner was our pilot and naturalist guide and he clearly is very knowledgeable about the bears. We felt safe and comfortable for three hrs up close and personal with 6 grizzlies. So fortunate to have experienced this.

I called I to schedule a flight and talked to the owner. I was offered a discounted offer, two bear viewing for the price of one. The first trip went well. I went with another friend but had different pilots on the second trip. Unfortunately I was very disappointed in my second trip. The guide was rude and very cockie throughout the trip to me and my friend. The passenger door to the airplane was not completely closed during the trip over he yelled at my friend and told her after they arrived and in front of other guest that it was her responsibility to make sure the door was closed. The safety factor was very concerning. We should not be responsible for the safety of the passengers. Numerous times I was told that I could not ask anymore questions and he didnt want me to talk about my previous trip either due to it may disappoint others if they did not have the same experiences. I was so embarrassed when I was the only one pulled from my group and had to walk with another group. We heard him say over the walkie talkie that he had someone that was gimpy. That was very unprofessional and demeaning. This was a lifetime trip for me and it was so disappointing. I left crying.I did not pay this kind of money to be treated this way. I called the office to let the owners know what happen but no one returned my call. After a week I wrote the owner a letter to explain what had happen. I was told that they would talk to the pilot. I ask for a refund for being treated so rudely or at least another trip with different staff but my request was declined. I recommend the bear viewing but not with this company.

The key take-aways from my narrative below:1) They advertise for the Classic Tour that you will get 3 HOURS WITH THE BEARS1A) We only had 5-10 minutes with mother/cubs at 1st location, and about 5 minutesof real viewing time of another mother/cub that was hiding in a ditch at a 2ndlocation. We wasted 30 minutes hoping to see more of her.2) They will tell you that At Alaska Bear Adventures, bear viewing is not a sideline activity, but the main event.2A) On the day of my trip, we had paid for 3 hours with the bears and got 5-15 minutes. For us, bear viewing was definitely the side act.3) When I started to express displeasure about the poor quality of our experience, and asking about a partial refund, these people started to make technical excuses to try to spin this experience as being worthy of the money I paid for me and my girlfriend.4) This trip is like a defective product scenario Defective products are going to happen, but when it does, you expect that the company to refund you, or replace the item.4A) This company has been unwilling to acknowledge that our 5-15 minutes of actual bear viewing time, is UNWORTHY of the 3 hours that we paid for.4B) This comes down to basic customer service. I can acknowledge that not every bear viewing trip will be a 5-star experience, but when a customer tells you that they did not enjoy your product, your response as a business should be, HOW CAN I WORK WITH YOU to resolve the matter and EARN YOUR BUSINESS AGAIN IN THE FUTURE?4C) I was offered a free standby seat on one of their trips, but because oflosing my job, I will be unable to jump at the chance to driveall the way back to Homer for some random day. I asked inreturn for them to refund me the cash value of such a standby trip, butthey informed me that a standby seat has no actual value to them,which tells me they definitely dont value my business becausethey are offering me a throw away type of item.5) I realize that Mother Nature is unpredictable sometimes, but this company wants you to believe that you will actually get a lot of time to view bears. If you get significantly less time than the3 hours with the bears, that you paid for, they will tell you that Technically, you did see bears.*Update*:8/3/2016After over 1 hour pleading on the phone, and since this review was posted, their offer to reconcile has increased to two confirmed seats to go back out, which would be very nice to try. My girlfriend will not be able to make that, as she was vacationing from Texas, and because I lost my job and must leave Alaska, I will also be unable to re-book. I trust that most people attending this tour are on vacation, and returning to Alaska would not be feasible. I am seeking a lesser cash value than the offer for 2 re-booked seats; Ive been told that cash refunds are not possible.

Went this past June and had a fantastic time, felt extremely safe as they were very aggresive about getting everyones accurate weights. The flight alone was worth the trip, great views and scenery. Then when we went to land a mother bear with 3 cubs was walking down the beach we were landing on. We got so close to the bears you could hear them chewing the celery. The pilot and guides were the best, very informative and safety conscious. I would highly recommend them.

It was a unique experience with really prosesionals.
