I drove near an hour to check this place out, and it has sooooo much potential! There are so many hard to or even impossible to find machines in here. The problem is they are all broken and turned off. I wish a lot of them would be repaired or even restored. Were talking machines that are hardware based that cannot be emulated. Machines that require physical manipulation and by all means belong in a museum of sorts. A gem of classic gaming if ever there was one. I want to try again to visit someday, but not until some effort goes into the repair of the machines. Its depressing to walk into an arcade where over half of the games are unplugged, and a good 25% of the remaining dont have working controls. I feel like my visit was a missed opportunity.. for me.
I love this place! The owner is awesome and works hard to keep the games running all himself!! They’re 20+ years old so it’s difficult as they continue to age. Parts harder to come by. There are still other games working that are fun to play! The place is low lit and cool vibe. Bring a friend, drop some quarters, and have fun!! These classic games are better than ticket games any day. Also, previous reviews state a “urine smell,” but it smelled fine inside. No inordinary odors! Keep in mind there is a bar upstairs.
Been coming here for years, My one true happy place. But everytime iv tried comin up atomic seems to be closed? When will you be open again? Up the Punx!
Hours of operation are inaccurate or the place isnt open anymore. Wasted a $30 Lyft ride and it looked abandoned when I made it there.
Has some great classics! Place is full of great machines. Usually isnt too crowded with people. Its perfect for a little nostalgia. Not a lot of room for much else. Right next to a cafe and a bar.
What happened to this place????? Me and a friend walked in and first thing we notice is that it smelled of urine in the entire arcade and then walking around the establishment over 3/4 of the games are all broken and shut off. We didnt even stay 3 minutes, would been sooner but I had to use the restroom which was bad too but looked cleaner than the arcade floor
I love this place. Dark, dank, lots of stuff to remind you of old arcades. Not a great place for kids.Under a bar.Dirty.Dark.Lots of broken machines.Shady people in and out.Go here with you other game loving adult friends and drop some quarters in some of your favorite games! What games work this week?Come on in and check!
I really wish I could give this place 5 stars, but I cant. As was previously stated by others, many games are not on, plugged in, or working. I know that many of these cabinets are not going to be in great condition considering how many are over 30 years old, but i was hoping more of them DID work. I also wish the owner would clean up the consoles and the carpets as it was DINGY in there.
Miss this arcade! :( Was always my favorite
Oh man this place. Drove down (about 30 minutes from my home) to check it out with a couple of friends last weekend. And I was certainly not disappointed. The place isnt very big, but it doesnt need to be. The atmosphere was clean! I will say it was a little warm inside, relying on a few scattered fans to clean things cool. However, once you start throwing quarters into the old-school machines youll forget all about it. Most of the machines were fully-functioning, clean, and well-presented. The few were our of order actually being worked on by (the owner?) while we were there! The cherry on top is the bar thats literally above the arcade. Both open until 1 or 2 on the weekends. Free admission! Ultimately, makes for a great night of fun. Bring your quarters, support this place, and take care of the machines please! Have fun!
When The Atomic Arcade was first opened, Ill bet it was the epitome of classic 80s nostalgia. But now it reflects how the newest generations feel about those machines; that being old. Walking in with a friend for some Friday night adventure, I was surprised at how many machines covering many different genres there were! From original frogger, defend the castle and Tron to Dance Dance Revolution and Police Shootout, the sheer number of games amazed me! What didnt amaze me was that at least half or more were nothing but well decorated husks of games past. However, those working fine still brought smiles to our faces and that familiar rush of mashing buttons and moving the joystick.I feel almost sorry for the state of the place, because to make it shine would take some effort and some spare parts. But Id bet that either of those are hard to come by when just one game usually cost us 25 cents. If you are looking for about an hours worth of classic entertainment, stop on by! But dont go expecting to walk through a time machine into a world from your past, because todays world is hard on the classic arcade.
The best arcade around. It has the best retro atmosphere that will take you back to the late 80s. The owner of the arcade is really cool and cares a lot about his arcade. If your just out for a good time, there is a bar right above the arcade too. Go get a few drinks and then play a few games. Its really worth checking out.
This is a really cool little spot. Inside can get really hot though, so i like going during the evening. They have so many machines and its really fun to play some of the original games the way they were meant to be played.
I stopped by on a Thursday evening and this was my experience. The place was not overly populated and I had l a lightly enjoyable time, but I will not be coming back because most of the games that I wanted to play were not on. The business gets one star for being open and existing. The business gets another star for not charging a cover and every game basically being $0.25. Sadly, most of the games are not on and then about 25% of the ones that are on are broken. They have a great games list but most of them are not on or functional. If youre in the neighborhood and you know that their games list has some games you want to check out, it would be worth your time to stop and see if thats one of the games which is on and working, but I wouldnt go out of my way to go here and play something because of the probability of it not being available.
Greatest arcade i have come to know - Cant wait to get back, Hope it continues to thrive for years and years to come!! Highly, Highly recommended to bring friends, And Quarters! A great date for a nerdy couple.
BEST ARCADE IN TOWN
Such an odd vibe but I love this arcade! There are quite a few games worth checking out!
Lucky I cant give less than 1 star, this place is a DUMP!!! Me and a buddy were down here playing at another arcade and decided since we were down here, we would check out this one too!! We walked in, stopped at the front door, took a scan, and walked through, then right back out the door!!!The forst thing you experience is the very strong smell of piss, and it looks like the carpet is now the urinals! I would guess there is about 60ish games and only maybe 8 of them were playable. I felt like we were walking into an arcade game repair shop versus an actual arcade. I honestly dont know how this place is still in business. Its funny to look at the pics and see working machines, must have been when they first opened. This was one of the most hilarious experiences ive ever had, and just had to leave a real review to save others from wasting their time!! TUUUUUUUURD
Always love this place, its fun to go play some classic arcade games. Plus new games are still being added and fixed. I would highly recommend this place.
This place totally rekindles the memories of my misspent youth in the 80s. Dark, dank, and a little bit seedy. Love it! Probably over 50 classic vintage video titles and a humble selection of only 4 pinballs, but they are good titles in great condition. Easy to pass by while finding it for the first time, but definitely worth the U-turn!
It is great and yeah... I cant explain why just go there and have a blast. Great evening for really cheap.
What a throwback to the 80s. The setting is masterfully done. Great place to escape or get amped up prior to karaoke across the street at sues !
It was super to just go with friends and run around the place playing super fun Retro games and we all loved it.
Half of the games don’t work, it’s dirty, and it’s perfect I love it
I had previously gave this a 5 star, but after years of neglect and now not being open on Sunday, I feel like a 2 star is more accurate. Would love to see this back to its greatness.
Wow. Middle of a saturday, over half the machines were not working, no attendant could be found, Lights were half off, and smelt strongly of smoke. As the 10 yrd with us said this place gives me the creeps
This place is awesome! It has so many retro arcade machines that Ive been waiting to play for so long. But sadly, there is a lot of broken arcade machines! Heres a few, Stuntcycle, Pacman, Donkeykong, Astroids, and Spaceinvaders. I was very sad to see Poleposition2 lying in pieces in a corner! But otherwise, this place is great! I loved Galaga and Vs.Excitebike. And finally an arcade that isnt a Chucky Cheeses clone! So if youre looking for a place that gives you tickets so you can get crappy prizes, youve come to the wrong place, amigo. But if you want a cool retro styled arcade with plenty of amazing games, get over there!
When I entered to this arcade, it felt like I traveled BACK in the 80s and the 90s (I feel like a kid again)! There was a LOT of classics, many of them much older than I am. I spend $5.00 in quarters in many of the Atari, Sega, Nintendo, Capcom, etc classic arcade, even the pinball machines, Im SOOOOO happy this place for all the younger generations (2000s decade) to experience the classic games from the past, like the kids in the 70s to the late 90s kids, rather than playing the Xbox and the Playstation at home (also trolling them while theyre at it). I like the place dimly lit with all the background noises, and yes. Many of them work very well, like they came out yesterday, some games cost $0.50 while most of them are only one quarter ($0.25) for even older games. If you REALLY wanna play video games traditionally old-school way for all the nostalgia, come on over here to the Atomic Arcade!! Just watchout for the large white change machine it will NOT take you dollars, even if its clean bill, use the one to your left as you come in, that one works WAAAAAY much better, despite how old it is.Ill DEFINITELY be back for more classic gaming, besides my game consoles to PC needs a little rest. Anyways keep up all the classics alive! Younger kids NEED to play some of the classics. (As soon as I left, I fast forward back to awful 2010s!)
The best arcade I have been to in a long, long time.
Eh. Its alright. A lot of the machines were broken.. Especially the old school ones I wanted to play..
If only the owner cared about this place. Half the games dont work. The other half arent plugged in. Change machine works most of the time though.
Most of the machines were broken or not plugged in
It was hotter than hell inside .More than half the games were broken or turned off . It was dirty Dont think we will be going back anytime soon.
A few of the games are broken.
Has a lot of older games like asteroids space invaders dig dug etc
Come all the way and find the machine is off, really disappointed
Has all of the old schools
Went here during business hours and they were closed.
It is written here that they are open until 1AM on weekday nights, we went there at 11PM and it was closed. Waste of time and gas.
I was in heaven!!!
