I walked all the way from Newport to this place hoping for an adventure but ro my disappointment the place was closed. Though the Google map was showing the same as open.
I have to agree with the review below, the lack of bears was quite a disappointment. In addition, the ability to grow speleothems naturally in soluble rock makes this a cavern and NOT a cave. Would not visit again.
While this cave lacked traditional stalactites and stalagmites that I expected, it has an exceptional view of the manhattan skyline. There were no bears present during my visit, an it is hard to hear your own echo, but the location is great for most caves.
Was hoping for more of an historic or adventurous experience. The arch was a beauty, but otherwise it was a gated off cage with trash here and there and two tables with benches on the outside. Gorgeous view of Manhattan, though.
Walked a mile to get in.
Take some time away from the hubbub and enter the park surrounding Cybils cave. Lush greenery and wild flowering vines create shade for some quiet down time while you bask in a bit of nature and history.
And fishing was very good today
It’s pretty but idk about getting inside
Intriguing... I wished it was open or accessible.
Kinda disappointed there are no bears or bats, but this hole in a mountain is for sure a cave.
Hardly noticeable may have been cool when its open
Not worth the time.
Very peaceful
A++++++
