We had heard a lot of good things but it feel a bit short. The starter (spring rolls) were great but then pretty much down hill from there. Even the cocktails - pricing of the food too was very much overpriced (entrees start ar $28). Service though is amazing and portions are quite big.Be careful they have minimum pricing. One entree or two starters minimum per person or it’s a $10 charge. If you share an entree without meeting the minimum it’s an additional $5 charge. We could have definitely saved more money if we just did the starters or paid to share as the price we paid wasn’t worth it at all.All about supporting local so please do go and continue to do so if you like the place, this one just want for usPho Spring: 5/5 highly recommendPad Thai: it’s more like noodles in coconut curry which looks red. Not any where near pad Thai so very disappointed with thisEggplant Jambalaya: tasted more like veggies and beyond sausage (plant based) in tomato sauce. Lacked some flavor and salt and could have been great if it had a bit more spice and kick to it. Risotto was just too sweet and didn’t take like risotto.
Excellent dining experience. Quiet spot. Nice variety of excellently prepared dishes. Attentive service. Well-chosen wines. Reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
All the food was top notch and tasted fresh! The eggplant jambalaya was amazing! The shrimp that was served as a part of the paella was cooked to perfection and the flavor was out of this world! The buffalo cauliflower appetizer was the best Ive had. For dessert I had the blueberry crumb cake a la mode and it was without a doubt the best dessert Ive had in the last year. I may go back in 2 days and try something different, or order the exact same.....
A classic Hilton Head dining experience that you just cant find anymore! With amazing vegan options! Charming, friendly staff and owners make you feel right at home. Ive worked my way through about half of the menu so far and the flavors and freshness never disappoint. They have an amazing vegan menu that has captured my fancy even though Im not vegan! So dont be afraid of the vegan dishes. They are sooo good! So much more to say but just check it out for yourself!
Love the food. The vegan options are delicious. Excellent service and so friendly! We enjoyed the experience so much we returned two nights in a row! Highly recommend this restaurant.
I am here on my last day of my girls trip and coming here just topped off our vacation in Hilton Head! The service and food were AMAZING! The vegan entrees were so delicious!! It is a place to visit!!
Great food and menu. Nice atmosphere and attentive, friendlier staff. Highly recommend!
A very romantic atmosphere. We were here on a Saturday night for our anniversary and the musician added a great ambiance to the room. Beautiful artwork everywhere, next time well buy some. Food was amazing, especially the escargot! Will certainly return again one day.
Great atmosphere. I felt very safe. Awesome menu selection. Great food.
Always a delight. Love the food and service is awesome. 5 stars every visit
My favorite place to eat in Hilton Head. Art Studio with amazing food. Delightful owner service, interesting art, and food that will delight.
Excellent staff of servers. The food was outstanding. Serving sizes are huge. Many paintings are available. I loved the art that was on display.YES, I totally recommend this restaurant and eagerly await my next opportunity to enjoy the fabulous food, service, art and oh, yes the entertainment was superb!Get your reservations and enjoy!
Vegan Heaven, you wont find a bad item on the menu. Great stuff.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Studio dining experience. She’s been coming to HHI for about 30 years. Me, about 15. We’ve dined at most of the common establishments, but never came across the Studio in the 14 years it’s been open. I guess it’s because it’s kind of hidden, but it’s s definitely a hidden gem. In the past vacationers used to drive by places, stop, check them out and then go back if it was good. I guess now in the 21st century, we turn to apps like OpenTable, and this is one of the few restaurants on the island where one can make reservations online. The food was remarkable. The ambience is amazing. The live music was just right. There are dozens of family-friendly restaurants to take the whole brood, but this is the spot for the mom and dad getaway where you leave the kids behind with your relatives. It’s owned by Paul and Lunolia Colella. Paul is the Exec Chef and Lunolia is the resident artist who also runs the front end. The place is a studio for Lunolia’s beautiful paintings and Paul’s gastronomic excellence.I had the Studio Palette, which was a combo of filet mignon, lamb medallions, and grouper—basically my three favorite entrees. I subbed the potatoes and asparagus for spinach because we’re doing the Keto thing (it works—down 20 lbs so far). It was life-changing.My wife, also on a low carb diet, had the Studio Salad, with an add-on of scallops (not on the menu), which Paul gladly provided us for the market price. It was so perfectly executed, it made my wife, who normally avoids gorgonzola cheese, suddenly rethink gorgonzola cheese on salads. The scallops were perfectly sautéed.We finished off our bottle of 2015 Gehricke Russian Valley Zin, which was very reasonably priced, then had some dessert cafes. The Jamaican coffee was everything I could hope for, the perfect end to a perfect dinner.Note: Despite other reviews, the chairs were quite comfortable for normal-sized humans. Also, don’t bring you kids or show up in novelty T-shirts. If you actually make a reservation, and dress for the occasion, you will not be disappointed. We have four kids, and love restaurants that offer a $7 chicken fingers dish and free crayons, but this is not that place. This is now a HHI must-do for us.
Good vegan food, creative vegan ideas, great vegan desert! Albeit very pricey!
Excellent food and service. Vegan dishes were great! The dining area was a little too dark though.
We went there tonight after being turned away at the door last night. Reservations really are required, not just recommended. They close when all their reserved people are in, despite open- close hours. I wasn’t going to go back after being turned away with my daughter last night, but my boyfriend encouraged me to take her back and try again tonight since she is an aspiring artist. She absolutely loved it. Despite the menu not being “kid friendly”, she was amazed at the art, the lights, the fancy experience . The food was phenomenal, the bread was fresh and delicious. The fact that the owner chose to add a mandatory gratuity payment to our bill since we were using gift certificates supplied by the resort was kinda rude. We spent well over the “certificate amount” and were prepared to pay the difference AND tip our server who was attentive, friendly and amazing. I could tell she only did that to us and it left a sour taste in my mouth about the expierance. Especially since my daughter had been begging to tip the guitar player - I planned to tip BOTH and did; but I am still uncertain who gets the manadatory tip. Hopefully our server gets it & not the restaurant as he truly earned it. I see they tend to have problems with resort certificates (based on other reviews) and perhaps that is the reason they choose to do that but it’s rude and they didn’t do it to the table next to ours.Great food, great server, snotty nose in the air owner- in all worth the cost for my daughter to have had the experience but I will be suggesting that the resort tries another restaurant in the future as they don’t seem to want the resort guests there.
This food was amazing. The hippy meatloaf (quinoa and black means instead of meat) was seriously better than normal meatloaf. We also had the mushroom crepes and the flavor of the filling was amazing. Its a pretty small place and the servers try hard to get everything right. Theres a lot of paintings from local artists all over the restaurant and they had live music the night we were there. They also give you bread at the beginning of your meal.
Had 22nd anniversary dinner there Friday night. All I can say is first class all the way!! Food was excellent, service was excellent!! We will be eating there next time we are in Hilton Head!
Classy, unique and great food
In a world of loud, bright, and contrived restaurants The Studio is a wonderful respite. Great food, great music, and a very pleasant atmosphere.
We have always loved The Studio and have dined there for years - so imagine how thrilled we were to find a Groupon. Recently we took advantage of the Groupon and went for dinner. The menu is wonderful and offers many creative choices. However, I was not all that hungry and only wanted a cocktail and an appetizer for my dinner. My husband planed to have an entree, soup and desert.Upon placing my order we were promptly told that I had to order at least another appetizer or a salad that there was a MINIMUM! Well I didnt want another dish but it seems that there might be a stipulation associated with using a Groupon. To the best of our knowledge this was not stated in the offer nor was not specifically explained that was the reason for the minimum. Ive simply NEVER heard of an upscale restaurant requiring that you order a certain amount! The Studio owners may want to clearly state the rules associated with the promotion and customers should ask when making a reservation. We were made to feel as if were cheap skates. Unfortunately, I no longer feel as if I want to give The Studio my business. With so many dining options on Hilton Head why would we want to go back to a restaurant that clearly doesnt value our business on any level. I thought the whole purpose of Groupon promotions was to bring business in not drive it away.
Had dinner here with my wonderful wife, mother in-law and daughter and her puppy (copper) outside on the patio. The staff were amazing and so helpful. My wife and I are Vegan which they have a menu for and the food was delicious. My mother-in-law has the Grouper stuffed with blue crab and my daughter had the barbecue chicken they both loved the food . I will be going back only this time for date night with my wonderful wife.
One of the best meals weve had in a long time. The food was inspired and the service was excellent. They also have a dog friendly patio and were super nice to our fur baby. Well definitely be back the next time were on the island.
The experience was amazing from the art, decor and table settings it was a meticulously crafted experience. The ambiance is Morrocan with wall hangings and candle light then the art on the walls and the perfectly appointed table settings. This is all before the food, which was exquisite with each item crafted to delight both the eye and the palate, I had the Studio Palette and it was amazing the meats cooked exactly to the medium I ordered. Each beautifully presented and set off by the toppings, goat cheese and demi glace on the filet and Ragan Josh on the lamb and served on quirky tableware. We could not have asked for a better or more romantic meal. We will be back!
The meal was absolutely the best meal I have ever eaten!!!! It was fabulous. The vegan cheese and mushroom starter and the maple pecan salmon were just amazing. I had to google vegan cheese to see what it was. Lol. I’m not vegan but this place could make me become vegan if that is what vegan cheese always taste like. Amazing. I will definitely be back for more!!!!!
5 stars not enough! Best meal in a long time!
An eclectic place, no doubt. Good food and service, real vegetarian options (not just a pasta with veggies in it), and a funk decor. I reckon not everyone will like the paintings, but its all fun.
Wonderful experience! GREAT food and service. Desert was definitely worth the extra splurge.
A perfect place for dinner. The food, the art, the ambiance, the music, and of course the service. I highly recommend The Studio next time you’re in Hilton Head.
Excellent food, lovely surroundings, good service. Nice art on the walls, too (by local artists). One of the nicest restaurants weve been to.
Best birthday dinner EVER! The service was fabulous, the atmosphere was perfect and the food.....AMAZING. The steak was one of the best I’ve ever had. The cocktails are flavorful and quality. They gave me a decadent brownie on the house with a lit candle and the guitar player even played me happy birthday. Thank you so much for a wonderful 36th birthday. I definitely recommend this place.
The food was great and the atmosphere was eclectic.
Great restaurant! Music, art, intimate atmosphere, nice lighting, friendly staff and great food but a little pricey. Highly recommend!
We come here for date night when we can. We also have brought the kids. Husband is chef and wife paints and manages the floor. It is such an awesome experience with great food! Thank you for the special memories.
Very nice food, great service and nice atmosphere, we loved our food. If you like art this would be a must place to see
Kinda felt creative, what a trip!! the endless tap water kept on flowing, vibes was unique. something special was in the air...
Worst Food and Customer service here on Hilton Head Island. Off of your reply you must be confused none of what you’re saying sounds familiar to me.
Great restaurant with unique dishes. Peaceful patio with live guitar and someone painting a portrait for entertainment. Highly recommend, you won’t be disappointed!
My husband and I ate here for our anniversary. The food was amazing! The service was equally amazing! The atmosphere was so nice along with the music and artwork. Lovely place
We love this place!!! We have been dining here for over 10 years. Since the first visit, the owners and staff have treated us like a king and queen even though we are a younger couple. Our favs are the ahi tuna and filet mignon. And for dessert, the chocolate lava cake is divine!!! They also have a cute little outdoor dining area available if the weather is nice. Definitely a fav on HHI!!!
Best overall meal and service we have had in HH since Ricks Place left in the late 90s. We kept saying we were going to try The Studio, but never got around to it... We will be backed
Didnt know what to expect but the experience was very good.We started with a crab vidalia onion, a nice crisp local salad, a trio o mignon lamb chop and cobia, and a cobia fish entreeThe dessert was delicious and loght. We highly recommend.
Excellent food and ambiance. And very good service.
Great food and service
Beautiful atmosphere with lovely artwork, wonderful live guitar music, great staff, and best Vegan food!
Good food, a bit pricey. Darker atmosphere, but cozy. Good musician.
I took my husband here for his birthday dinner. The food was great, amazing flavor. Theres something for everyone, with all dietary considerations. I had the plantain gnocchi and he had the salmon. Great wine selection and great cocktails.
This was superb. There for my wifes birthday which they made stunning. The food was brilliant, Mike Wilson played wonderfully relaxing music and the addition of a painter working away just topped it off beautifully.Friendly competent staff, lovely emblems and superb food. What a marvelous eclectic find. Wally Robertson
Exceptionally well prepared fresh food with a beautiful presentation. Service was delightful.
Had a great anniversary dinner at The Studio! They have amazing food. My husband had the best steak he has ever had and I went with the vegan jambalaya which was perfect! The live music set the mood and the great ambiance finished it off. A local artist was there painting during dinner which added a unique touch. Not a cheap stop but definitely worth every penny!
Staff was very friendly and accommodating! My husband and I brought our 2 & 4 year olds here with us, and we could tell this is not a restaurant made with little kids in mind (menu, atmosphere), but the staff was so great to them! Beyond that, the food was AMAZING. My husband got the filet mignon, and I got the grouper filet... absolutely delicious! Live music, great staff, amazing food! Thanks for a great experience!
My wife and I have lived on Hilton Head Island for several years and we think this is one of the great restaurant secrets on the island. The food is always great service is excellent in the ability to get items that you dont find elsewhere makes this one of our favorite restaurants on Hilton Head Island
I had a great meal here with parents last night. I ordered gnocchi off the well labeled vegan section, my parents had salmon and filet mignon. We all loved our food and completely cleaned our plates. The restraunt was a little dark in the center section as it is set up as an art gallery with the lights focused on the walls, which required me to pull out my phone to use as a flash light to not struggle reading the menu. I thought the live guitarist they had playing was excellent, he played mostly fingerstyle versions of older rock songs and some classical pieces mixed in as well. The food is on the pricier side, starting at $30 or so an entree, but we got an excellent meal.
Had the palette dish; this restaurant is awesome. Great atmosphere to go along with live music and art show. Strongly recommend this place
This was a great experience all around. It is such a fantastic place for a romantic dinner. We had the Black Bean Hummus, pad Thai, hippie meatloaf and the vegan choclate tart and sorbet dessert. They were all delicious dishes. The lady and gentleman who waited on us were wonderful. Very attentive, sweet and kind. The art on the walls is definitely worth a look. Very talented artists. We will be back for sure.
Had the best irish coffee ever made by the most authentic Irishman ever! Thankyee.
I am not sure if this restaurant even deserves one star as it discriminates customers based on races. Tonight, my daughter and I went to this restaurant and we were treated as if we lived in 1950s. Although I made a reservation and plenty of tables were available in the front room, the owner offered me to either sit in the back or outside. Please note there was no table outside that I could see. Even the waitress was snobby. I am Asian but I overcame my language barriers and received a Masters degree along with a professional license although I was born and raised in foreign country. If I were that waitress who are getting paid minimum wage to serve others in her 40s, I would be ashamed and I would advance myself to get better than a job as a waitress (although I do not look down on polite servers, I do have a problem with a snobby waitress who failed to advance herself with a better career), but she was so snobby to us.A male server asked me if I wanted a bottled water or tap water, and I paid $5 to get a bottled water; however, he did not leave me an unopened bottle, but he poured water for us from a bottle that I would not know whether it was opened previous or not, and he took the bottle with us after he poured our glasses. These were not enough, so when I received my ticket, this snobby waitress charged my credit card automatic gratuity. Imagine that!!!!!!!
The food in this establishment is very good. A bunch of vegetarian and fish dishes. The presentation of the food is awesome and the staff is very professional. They are also artist and sell the art too.
Eclectic, romantic atmosphere. The seafood paella over saffron rice was outstanding. We sat outside under white lights for a lovely quiet evening. My only complaint would be the traffic of palmetto Rd. Would be nice if they set up a barrier. The banana bread pudding was delectable!
Very disappointed with our meal. I had the duck which was tough and so fatty that it was tasteless. Our guest had the chicken which was plump but tasted pumped up with water or injected with whatever. We have lived on the HH island fo years and often dined at The Studio thus I was not happy. Although the ambience is lovely....our experience was very unsatisfactory.
Fantastic experience at the Studio. We had a party of 15 mixed vegetarians and meat eaters. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Wonderful salad, appetizers, dinners and desserts. So glad we found it.
Very good vegetarian & vegan items, marked clearly on the menu. The dining area is relatively small. The service is good & formal. They had a vegan desert option. We had the soup of the day, pad thai, hummus, plantain gnocchi, & cheesecake. This was too much food as the portions are large. We should have stuck with 2 entries, or 1 entree & 2 other small dishes. The food was good, but not incredible. The prices are of course high. But for a vegetarian or vegan on Hilton Head, this was good. If you dine again within 30 days you can use your receipt for buy one entree get one free.
Weve been here three years in a row during our yearly family vacation and have had a great experience every time. Wide ranging menu, including multiple delicious vegan appetizers and entrees, great service, and often quiet enough for good conversation.
Very professional. Great food. Would come again.
I visit Hilton Head every year and this is always an absolute must stop for myself and the colleagues I drag along with me which have always been hesitant of a plant based menu. However they always leave stuffed, happy and cant wait to return for more. Furthermore Lunonia and Paul the owners are remarkable and extremely hospitable. Cant wait to return in just a few short weeks!!
Great restaurant. Always our final meal when we visit HHI. We look forward to it every year for the last nine years.
Was delightful and wonderful food and service. Beautiful art too
Our evening was awesome!! The ambiance, art, service, food and entertainment was wonderful!! Thanks to all !! We will be back & recommend that others consider for an enjoyable evening out!!!
Really good food, good service, accompanied by Glenn Jacobsen on guitar
Amazing, Romantic ambience. ..very accomodating...Amazing vegan options & Best service& drinks. .. Live music added to an amazing experience. .. ( Thx for free island cash ;)
Food tasted good, but presentation and options are a bit dated, as is the restaurants decor. Service was attentive. Live music was also dated, which added to the feeling that the preferred clientele are 65+.
Its a vibe
Fabulous as always #vegetarianfriendly #modernart #art #datenight
The Studio is one of our favorites in HHI. We have had nothing but excellent food and service there. We took family there over the holiday weekend and they, too, were most impressed by their experience. The four of us were very pleased with everything we ordered - their local pallea is chocked full of delicious seafood; the pillowy plantain gnocchi is homemade and so satisfying; the crab and vidalia onion bisque is perfect; and the wasabi sauce beautifully complements the seared tuna appetizer! We also have found their, special, nightly wine offering to be exceptional. The intimate size of The Studio, Armand, the musician, the service and the consistently outstanding food make it a unique, on island treasure.
Organic choices! Loved everything that was brought to the table. Our two year old also loved the food. The owner/artist was amazing with our little guy too! My steak was cooked perfectly, and the banana pudding was AH mazing! Yum yum! Super relaxing restaurant - great lighting. So glad we decided to try this place out.
Expensive with small portions, but the atmosphere and service was top notch. Great vibes in The Studio.
Excellent food for vegetarians, vegans, and meat eaters alike. Fantastic wine and drinks menu as well.
Creative menu, well thought out special, with a great wine list. Very good music for a Tuesday night.
Stay away from this place if you want caring service. They are in the restaurant business but have yet to hear about the most prevalent allergy in the US, peanuts. They used it in the humus and did not list it on the ingredients on the menu. Who puts peanut butter in humus? After my wife who is severely allergic to peanuts, like a very large percentage of people, got an allergic reaction we asked if any of our three appetizers had nuts. Our server was surprised to find out that the humus did. Her comment was that we should have asked before we ordered it. No my dear, you should not be so rude and list it on your ingredients. Any good restaurateur would know that, This place merely exists to attempt to sell trite stylized art that reminds a person of the Elvis paintings on velvet. . Avoid at all costs
Amanda is the best!
Amazing atmosphere and art, not to mention service. Incredibly nice people and the food was excellent. My wife and I have a hard time finding Vegan options when out and they have many options. Will be back.
We took some totally vegan friends to eat there and we all loved it...especially the vegan jambalaya!
This quaint, eclectic little restaurant doubles as an art studio. You can taste the love through the immaculate handcrafted dishes - everything from the appetizers, freshly baked bread, to entrees and dessert with coffee. Our table enjoyed the Hippyloaf (a spin off of meatloaf) the Mediterranean ChickUn (Ah-mazing!) and the special The Palette(generous mix of filet mignon, lambchops, and grouper). For dessert we had the vegan friendly chocolate tart with sorbet which my father in law described as remarkable (he is NOT a vegan). The coffee was a nice, smooth blend. The service was very good and welcoming. We enjoyed a singer with a guitar that matched the atmosphere perfectly. We were looking for a one of a kind experience and we found it!My husband and I are vegan while my in laws are not and it has been a little difficult to find a restaurant that could happily suite us both. Not only were we all happily surprised but we each highly enjoyed our plates. My mother in law made sure I wrote how much she enjoyed it too. We especially enjoyed the beautiful paintings that decorated the space. We will definitely be back!
Delicious food and great service
Everything was so good. So perfectly flavored, and large portions.
Great experience. Not only is the food great but its a unique artistic restaurant. The restaurant is covered in unique art. Definitely great for anybody looking for great food in a unique environment.
Live acoustic guitar was pleasant background music to listen to while we enjoyed Indian-style rack of lamb and grass fed filet mignon. Expect great service and good food but not great art.
