Love this beautiful lake! There are 7 access points scattered along the shoreline with tons of campsites. Theres site accommodations with wheelchair access and sites for tents, RVs and groups... many being lakefront. Restrooms are always clean. There are several boat ramps making this lake excellent for water sports and fishing. Ive seen lots of bass, crappie and catfish here. This reservoir is state recreation and spans about 50k acres with 850 miles of shoreline between NC and VA, the majority being in VA. Whether you just want to spend the day or pitch a tent for the weekend, I highly recommend this lake. Dont forget to bring a hammock!!

One of the best rv sites we have visited in NC. Other than the spots being a little close compared to other NC state park options, the view was amazing! Almost every spot has a beach area that you can use. Neighbors were friendly and the park employees drove by every hour or so to check on everything making it safe and clean.

Spent a couple nights at Kerr Lake State Recreation Area. We absolutely loved our spot (#59). We were right on the lake which was perfect to to have our boat right at the camp site. We are looking forward to our next visit. The trip was less than 2 hours away from Greensboro. We will be back!

As always an amazing state park! Great campsites and lake for swimming, fishing, and boating. Also a wonderful place just to have a picnic or a memorable wedding. The park rangers are always close by to make you feel safe and at ease. Take your family, take your dog or even just take yourself to find some tranquility by the water.

Kerr Lake State Park is an amazing place to get outdoors. The campsite is located on the beach, right at the water. The bath houses are clean and well taken care of. Alcohol is Prohibited, and the Park Rangers are on the lookout for it.Great place for the family, or someone that just wants to get away. There are primitive campsite with water, and RV campsites.

I absolutely love going out to the lake! Ive grown up out at the lake. So for over 40 years....... I actually worked as an assistant park ranger as I studied to become a paramedic. After being all over the world in the military for seventeen years I couldnt wait to be home by this great little lake. My happy place.

Beautiful lake! Henderson Point has some great camp areas for either tent or camper with beautiful views and sandy beaches for the kids to play! Certain camp areas should be viewed first if your picky about your sites. The recent rainfall has made some roots come up which can be bad for tents. Other then that, great area!

Sites at Nutbush are very nice, but the hookups are spaced out in a really strange manner. BRING EXTENSIONS FOR WATER AND ELECTRICITY!!!!Also, it seems campers here this weekend do not know about boundaries. If you have to cross a wooden frame board that holds the site pad, you are probably in someones site. Especially true if you have to walk around the occupant (me) in their chair! Lol! Didnt dock them a star for campers, but the hookups are ridiculous. Dump site well placed and has what you would expect.

We stayed here for our first night, what a beautiful campsite directly in front of the lake. Well spaced out sites, the restrooms were a bit away but everyone seems to respect the speed limit so we were able to walk about. We hiked around 3 miles worth of trails, the only down side was there was trash everywhere, we picked up around 30 pieces of trash on that short hike. Overall great experience, I would recommend this site to anyone.

My first impression as I drove in was that it was very crowded, but as I located our space I realized that it had a generous amount of space and privacy. The next small issue was with water. The faucet was quite the distance from my inlet, and anyone without a long hose will be in trouble. Another issue at this time was the bathroom/shower. The closest one was closed due to Covid, so it was either a short trip to a very overused Porto let, or an inconvenient walk to the only other bathroom. With that said I will say that the bathroom was large, clean and pleasant. The site was very level, large and comfortable with a picnic table and fire ring. Many of the sites had convenient access to the lake, and ours in particular had a private path to a small beach. The park was quite, clean and well patrolled. Back to griping. No WI-FI and limited cell reception. Still we got our moneys worth and will be going back.

This is a GREAT campground. Our visit at the end of October was perfect. Affordable, clean, great campsites and a beautiful lake. Boat ramp is very good. Many campsites have a small ‘beach’ area, suitable for putting a rowboat, canoe, kayak or inflatable into the lake. Facilities are clean and the camp hosts were nice folks. Roads, sites and dump station are all easily driven with our 34 foot Class A motorhome. Wish we could have stayed longer!

I needed a place to stay overnight on my way to Maggie Valley. I pulled into the gate about closing time. The attendant, very friendly, told me a storm was on the way and directed me to the vacant spots which were plentiful during the weekdays. He told me we could settle up when he came in the next day. Wanted me to secure my trailer before the storm. I wish I could have stayed longer. Great place and I plan to return in the future.

I love kerr lake usually despite its flaws, but its said its open now for several weeks and everytime weve driven up or attempt to call it is obviously not open. Would love if they actually updated the website to let us know, because the first time we drove an hour out there Google said it was open and it wasnt. Very disappointing. The only open area is the boat dock, even though theres tons of trails in the park area to walk as well - all closed. I understand that the Corona virus has changed things, but they need to update their websites and their hours to reflect that.

A large group of us reserved the Group Access site at Henderson Point and everyone had a great time and was very pleased with the condition of the campsite. The grounds were well maintained and the park staff was very friendly and helpful. With a decent size shower & bathroom in just a short walk plus dump access it made the experience more enjoyable. Bring plenty of bug spray though, the mosquitoes were out in full force, not kidding. Shore fishing was not all that thrilling from what I heard but I didnt fish myself so I dont know. I would recommend it but Ive not been to Kerr lake much and there may be better options. The sunrise from this site was pretty killer too. Happy camping.

This is a large park with nine campgrounds. We had booked our waterfront site online and were looking forward to watching the sunset over there lake. My low rating is due to staff unresponsiveness. The park itself appeared to be beautiful although sites are snug and even crowded in some parts. When we arrived after eleven hours on the road, we were told we werent at the right campground and would have to drive another half hour. We asked if our reservation could simply be moved to the park we had arrived at and although there were available sites we were told that she couldnt change reservations from campground to campground, that only the main office could and they were closed. She told us that we could just book a new campsite with her though, paying twice. When asked about a refund for our first reservation she shrugged and said she didnt think we could get one. So we drove the half hour to find that our campground was closed due to flooding. The both attendant there did however change our reservation to the park we had first been at. So, after another half hour waiting for him to do that, we drove back only to be told that there was no reservation in our name. She calls the other park and no one picks up. She then calls the main office, the one she had told us was closed. As we waited, she told us that three other campgrounds had also been closed due to flooding so she must have known that the one we had booked our reservation at was closed too when she went sent up there. Another hour later, we had the reservation switched and got parked and hooked up just before it got dark. We were not given a waterfront site, although she had said there were some that hadnt been flooded. In the morning, I walk around to see beautiful spacious waterfront campsites sitting vacant. I met another couple who had had a similar experience with the both attendant that we had. She simply wasnt inclined to attend to us or serve us in any way.

We have been camping at NorthBend for almost 40 years. Electricity & water on most of the sites. Love having the electricity but it opened up parts of the park that had been used by tent camper to big giant motor coaches and some trees had to be cut down because the tops of the coaches were hitting the low branches, which now makes the sites more sunny. The bathroom staff do a great job cleaning up after people who I think were raised in a barn. People state & federal parks are short staffed because of cut in funding and it would not hurt you to pick up behind yourself or your animals. Oops pet peeve of mine.

We stayed at the Satterwhite Point JC Cooper Campground and I managed to get a 35-foot motor coach + car through those woods in Pitch Black. I say that to say that the roads are well-marked however the spaces are we bit tight to get into with a coach that size. I recommend staying over at Nutbush Bridge as those sites seem to be a little bit more open to bigger pieces of equipment. It is safe to say that if you have a travel trailer or a short fifth wheel youll have no problem getting into these spaces. 35 feet up to 42 ft will get in there just understand that it will take some patience and a DW that can navigate you into the space.
