This is an awesome childrens museum in the heart of Helena. We stayed at the Best Western right next to this and the famous carousel and suffice to say it was a huge success. This place has lots of random cool educational things for kids to do.Some of my favorites were the water features including a tsunami simulator and trying to build buildings that could withstand the force of a tsunami (spoiler alert, many things dont and cant and thats the point). They have the same concept for earthquakes as well which is just as interesting.Upstairs they have a more relaxed playing area but it includes a funny feature where you put bands on your head and your brain waves move a ping pong ball type object. I cant tell how this works or if its staged, but it cracked me up watching my kids try to out think each other to move the ball to the other persons goal.Affordable and accessible other than some parking issues. Highly recommend coming here if youre in the Helena area or even just travelling nearby like us.

Nice place for kids who like to play and explore. Not a super “scientific” place but a nice, quiet and fun place for kids to free play. And free wifi for parents ;) We have a pass to a science centre from Alberta and they accept those for admission.

Loved visiting. We use our membership from another museum to get in free. Lots of stuff for the kids to check out. We went to the music and movement class which was very popular. Loved it, although I would suggest playing some music instead of just singing to save on voices.

A nice stop. Better for younger kids, under 12. Could keep kids entertained for an hour or 2. Pass is good for the day, so you can come back.

Just awesome. Fun for all ages (adults included!). Always interesting, and so much fun that its the reward my kids pick after a good week of school.

Fun for smaller kids who enjoy the play area and water table and scarves, but the exhibits, while they have good information, just dont have enough engaging hands on opportunities. The majority of it is reading material which seems more appropriate for adults. Ive been with lots of children with my job as well as my own kids and they all have become bored quickly.

Great time for the kids. Water table was the favorite for sure! We came from Bozeman for the day and well for sure come back.

We had my sons 4th birthday party there it was great they had the party room set up for us and all the kids had a blast

My kids, ages 5-13, love visiting Exploration Works at least once a month. My youngest (5) had her most recent birthday there and she and her friends had a scientist at the party that helped them do their own expirement. It was a great hands on experience that they all enjoyed!

We love our explorationworks membership!The staff in Helena is amazing, kind, and friendly. We surely take advantage of the passport program while traveling. Today, I forgot my card at home, and Sage was expedient about getting a digital copy to us while in Chicago.Love this place for the kiddos. Grateful for the people!

Our 2 year old loves this place! I wish there were a few more things for the kids to do though. The water table is always her favorite thing to do. The pass is definitely worth buying since there isnt much else in town for toddlers. Also love how close the carousel is, we always end our trip there after a day of play in exploration works

Great interactive science museum for younger children. Lots of activities. After playing here stop by next door at the Great Northern Carousel to ride on the carousel and enjoy some ice cream.

Its an ok museum but lacks a lot. Most items are the same as every other similar place. Water table, farm set up, etc. Good for maybe an hour or 2.

Its small but they change things out often. Also, they are kind enough to host Explore School here, which is a science school meeting weekly throughout the school year for home schooled students.

A fun place for family, but its more for kids under the age of 7 or so, maybe 10 at the most. Very clean, lots of stuff to do and its presented in a way that appeals to kids. Does its job well.

We have so much fun every time we go! Everyone that works there is so nice, and they have great new exhibits often! Every Saturday they do a different fun, educational workshop--never disappointed!

We enjoy going here with my 2 year old a lot. It’s nice that it has new stuff from the first time we went, we weren’t very I’mpress thenbut gave it another shot and it was great. I do think the upstairs needs better things to do though.

Kids absolutely love it and I can keep myself entertained while I am there as well.While a day pass seems expensive, do yourself a favor and get a year pass.It is good for over 2000 other such centers and Museums in America, as well as the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman too!

Great place for kids 2-10. This place is huge with regularly rotating exhibits that are actually worth going to. Its right next to the carousel and ice cream shop which are fun too.

Nice interactive exhibits that keep the kids interested. A pretty little garden outside that encourages outdoor discovery. Seems like theres always something going on, such as camps, after school programs, field trips, early education classes, monthly adult education evenings, and weekend special hands on activities. Lots of fun!

Small but mighty science center. My kids love to play here and I love that their exhibits are all interactive and well-designed. They have a free day for families once a month which is so appreciated.

Really good place for kids and those who like to explore! I have taken a few trips there with different people and theyve all enjoyed it. If you have ever been to the MOR in Bozeman, its similar to the kids zone there.

Its hard to have a great science museum and keep exhibits interesting for both kids and adults over a long period of time but they do a great job. Exhibits are rotated every quarter. They also do well staying community involved.

This is a great place for kids to run and explore. Exhibits change regularly, but the activities that stay are kid favorites. The toddler play area is awesome.

Even though we are out-of-towners, we have a membership, which grants us access to other science museums in the country. The staff is friendly and professional, and my kids have thoroughly enjoyed several summer camps as well as the exhibits.

For the price I really expected more for the kids to do. The museum in Great Falls costs less and has more to do.

How about you update your website so that people know its not free the first Tuesday of the month anymore. Your unprofessionalism has lead to a broken hearted child who looked forward to this day for weeks.

Fun once in a while. Exhibits are rarely updated, but its a good spot for events.

The place at peak setup might rate 5 *, but when we went many of the displays were not set up and missing pieces so as to be not able to interact or play with it. About 1/3 of the whole place was unplayable.

Honestly Im not quite sure how to express my disappointment for the lack of quality customer service. Firstly when I purchased tickets to the nightmare affair all day event the lady who processed my transaction double charged my debit card she promptly sent me an email of apologie and promised me my account would not actually be double charged and that book keeping would fix the error that day (Saturday ) and my account would be credited the large difference almost 2 hundred dollars by Monday. and well here it is Tuesday and my account has not been credited the large amount instead the original transaction has posted to my account which any one who works in book keeping knows that that would mean they batched and processed the transaction already (why not issue the credit when the batched the transaction? Thats my question) that it is saposs to be. I have tried calling yesterday and today and have been told that messages have been left with both the lady who made the error and the bookkeeper but no one has returned my calls yet. The event it self was fun except there was some issues on the auction corrdination my husband placed a winning bid on an item plus donations by us both with call for cash and when we went to pay and collect his prince memoribila basket form the action the invoice ladies there tried telling us he didnt bid on prince basket but instead he placed a higher bid on some wine and chess thing we dont drink so thats inmpossible he only placed in bid on prince When I asked them to please look into the lady got kinda rude and told us that what he won so thats what he must pay. I promptly returned to the auction slips with the numbers and winning bids that where placed where each item was and collected both prizes in questions bid sheet which clearly showed my husbands number bid won the prince basket and the person one number higher then him won the wine and chest. We returned to the invoicing ladies and they reluctantly fixed the error and that issue was resolved so the event it self was not with out error but it was fun and we where planning on going next year because it seems like a great cause and my family loves the exhibited but now Im not so sure Im just not ok with any company making a promise to fix an error made on there part and not following threw with resolving the error as promised. For now my review stays at 1 star I will update my review to reflect accurately if and when the issue is resolved and if it was resolved by exploration works or if my bank resolved the issue instead. Word to the wise purchase your own tickets your self online for events do not call the main line or this could happen to u too. - Mrs ArnoldUpdate to 2 stars pending credit for next update - bookkeeper reached out to me and informed me that she has processed the refund on her end but because they use a a new third party provider for processing batching and refunds it can take 3-7 days for the refund to credit to my account.
