This place is more of a 2 star because theres not much to see & do & the entire alley is short. All the stores were closed (9/15/20) due to covid-19. Very limited parking, especially when parked in the free area. The only structure that seemed interesting was The Pioneer Cabin as it got turned into a museum (see picture ). Sadly, this was also closed. There was an orange tabby cat that was sooo friendly. How perfect to have a cat roaming in the Alley - for this, I gave this place 3 stars.
Really cool historical area. Reeders Alley is situated in the southwest corner of downtown Helena, the capitol of Montana. It is the oldest intact piece of early Helena. The property is a strong link to the beginnings of a settlement here, offering insights into the lives of miners, the Chinese influence, building techniques of the time, and life of the common men and women who came here seeking their fortune.
All of stores are closed as covid 19 is ongoing but it was beautiful small alley
Cool place to visit and learn about local history
I always have a lovely time walking through Reeders Alley. Its also a nice place to sit and have a quiet conversation.
Great things to look at.
Such a unique experience. Highly recommend as a worthy attraction
Pros.Really neat rustic architecture. Free parkingCons. Not tourists friendly. No shops, one cantina that was closed due to Covid. The Cantina looked cool with an outdoor balcony overlooking the alley.
Nice place to walk thru
Cotton-Top Pastries amazing
Really neat a must see, while in Helena Mt.
Great section of Old Town Helena with a few old historical buildings, and some charming renovations, old brickwork and Original street lamps
Such an great place with an amazing amount of historical value
Small little alley full of original buildings of Helena. There are a few shops and one restaurant in the area to stop at. It is a quick walk and the visitor center is located there.
Pleasant surroundings. Amenities are a challenge
Super cool place to spend some time and a little cash. Was there after things were closed, but was pleasantly surprised to find that there were still bathrooms open for the public. VERY NICE! Especially since Im getting older! Wink, wink.
Interesting place to visit in Helena.
A must stop... Takes you back a couple of hundred years...
Wow, this was a wonderful little sight seeing walk. It was labour day and nothing was open, unfortunately, but it is beautiful and fascinating to see the architecture from so long ago. I took lots of photos!
Great piece of Montana history..must see!
Very neat place! Lots of history and beautiful, old buildings here to explore. We ate at a nearby Mexican restaurant (Karmillos? I think it was called) that was delicious and very affordable. Ended the evening wandering down the alley. The nearby backyard had its bistro lights lit up, and it was just a super quaint, quiet, history-filled walk. Would love to go again!
Nice place yo see.
Wow!!! Such an amazing historical place and well preserved.
Its Sunday so a lot of its closed but very pretty and is a nice walk up and down the alley. I believe theres a restaurant that you could also eat at. All in all, its a very nice place to visit and walk around
Such a beautiful place
Love this place!
Old school Helena with a lot of history.
A very nice piece of history to walk around
Small but interesting piece of Montanas history. Visited in October. The visitors center was open and very helpful but the individual stores were closed. Rather than recreating a historic replica of the original business in a museum type display they have made these active businesses that maintain the original atmosphere and condition of the buildings along with their character. Easy walk with good views of surrounding sites of interest.
Nice historic walk. Unique sights with signs and restaurant adjacent to the beginning of the alley. Download the Helena walking tour app for some extras.
A really amazing place. Very historical and beautiful Cobble stone. A blast from the past. A real helena treasure.
Very interesting.
Interesting historical buildings and story. Its too bad the city, county, or state doesnt put a little money towards upkeep. Its our understanding that its all voluntary, and the place is looking pretty rundown. Also, there are private residences and businesses there that should take on some of the responsibility for maintaining the historical integrity of the area and the general upkeep.
I love history
Randomly in Helena and found this little alley. Super cute for a quick 5 min history walk!
Cool historic bit of Helena
Nice place to walk
Small alley of former mine town houses. Very clean and well maintained,
Great historic alley. Bricks are uneven and uphill so hard to push a stroller on it. Lots of little buildings to check out
Kinda hidden away but awesome worth taking the time to visit
Its so pretty up there! So many cool old buildings. I love the old style lamp posts too. I took my daughter there to take some fall pictures and its such a great place to take photos. Its so much fun to explore too.

Quaint corner of the town that seems lost in time.
Thank you to the Helena area ladies that had the foresight to save this very cool piece of history.
The Mexican restaurant at the top of the world at Reeders Alley is scrumptious & so worth the climb! Have the nachos & enjoy the view on the deck.
